Astro’s Big Thank You  https://promotions.astro.com.my/details/big-thank-you Added on Astro wants to give a big 'thank you' to its customers who are still subscribing to their service by announcing these three offers:
Who is eligible and not eligible to get what? Not every Astro customer will benefit from all of the 3 offers mentioned earlier, as it depends on the pack you currently subscribed to.
How do I know if I’m on the legacy pack or the new pack? Here’s some examples for your reference:
if you're not sure what pack you're currently on, you can check it on My Astro app, or refer to your Astro bill (page no. 3). Added on 1a) Up to 18 channels for free Note: To prevent confusion, if you are not eligible for this 18 channels (e.g. "Family" pack), please skip to the point 1b). If you are an eligible Astro customer, you can now enjoy their "gift" to you of up to 18 channels listed below. Do note that this is permanent, not temporary, and they have automatically include 18 channels into your subscription, with no strings attached whatsoever. That's why they called it "Big Thank You" 
You might have noticed that you could already view some or all of the channels listed above, even before they open up the channels as part of the campaign on 28 Nov 2024. This is because your existing Astro subscription may have already included some or all of the channels. Since Astro has standardised its channel offerings by making the 18 channels available to all eligible customers, this will likely benefit more to those who had not subscribed to the corresponding channels prior to the campaign. For those who subscribed to a pack where the particular addon is already bundled/included (e.g. you’re currently subscribed to a pack that already includes Korean, such as Super Pack or Entertainment Pack), then it’s either you just accept as-is and continue paying as usual, or you downgrade to a cheaper pack that still includes the channels and apps you need (then you get a new 24-month contract). Nothing much you can do about it. By subscribing to Astro, you are deemed consent to their Subscription Terms. According to Clause 6 (2), they have the right to change whatever business rules they like as they see fit. https://product.astro.com.my/general-terms-...tro-subscribers Double check your Astro bill to see if you’re still subscribed to those addons that are now “free” If you look at your Astro bill (page no. 3) and you see the relevant addons is being charged (e.g. you’ve been paying Korean add-on for ~RM10/month, and now you know that Korean supposed to be free for you & the majority of the customers), then you should contact Astro customer service, and tell them to remove the relevant add-ons (e.g. Korean) from your subscription. If you don’t contact customer service to remove the relevant add-ons, then it is good news for Astro because you will continue to pay for those add-ons. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to pay for something that can get for free, right? No automatic bill adjustments whatsoever If you're expecting them to be kind enough to automatically remove those paid addons (that are now free) from your subscription because of this campaign, that's where you're wrong. There won’t be any automatic bill adjustment here. Astro had to do this to ensure that it doesn’t drastically impact the company revenue (refer company’s financial performance). Addons that are safe to remove (or nothing to remove) Provided if you’re eligible for the free 18 channels, then here’s a list where removing these chargeable addons (see below) from your bill will not affect your access to your other channels. But as usual, a one-time RM10 switching fee will apply due to a reduction in your monthly fee.
If you’re currently on the new pack that has 1x Asian Favourites mandatory selection (e.g. Entertainment Pack), and you previously selected (or unknowingly selected) Indonesian Favourites, I’d suggest you switch to another Asian Favourites, which is free of charge and you’d get something extra. There’s only 2 remaining available Asian Favourites today, which is Indian Favourites and Viu Premium. There won’t be RM10 switching fee for this Asian Favourites change. You can perform the switch easily via My Astro app. Addons that are not safe to remove Not all addons are “safe to remove”. Depending on your pack, if you’re able to remove these addons listed below, you will lose access to some of your existing channels and even apps.
1b) “Family” pack customers aren’t eligible to enjoy the 18 channels; gets only 2 free channel previews until 31 Jan 2025 Regardless of your monthly subscription fee, as long your Astro bill page no. 3 stated "Family", such as Family Lite/Extra/Special/Chinese Family/or something like Family+2Mini+Sp+Dy+Mv, then this free 18 channels is not applicable to you. Instead, you’d only get a temporary free preview of these 2 channels until 31 Jan 2025: tvN (CH395) and Astro Showcase (CH413). On Demand content from tvN and Astro Showcase are not included in this free preview. On the bright side, it is better than nothing.  Added on 2) Free Ulti/Ultra Box upgrade Still using the HD box or PVR box? Ready to upgrade to Astro’s current box model of Ulti Box or Ultra Box? Now you have the opportunity to swap it for free, and a no-contract option is also available (mostly applicable for Plug & Play).
You can upgrade your box via the My Astro app. Do note that the default “Your installation method” selection will be ‘Plug & Play’. If you want to continue using a satellite dish to receive Astro channels on your new Ulti/Ultra Box, remember to choose the ‘Standard’ option. However, if you encounter difficulties upgrading your box using the My Astro app (e.g. upgrade option isn’t there), there are other alternatives to do it:
Added on 3) Free 1x Astro First movie You are eligible to redeem 1 Astro First movie for free, if you’re currently on one of these packs:
Redeem the movie through the Rewards section in My Astro app only! To redeem the free Astro First movie, you can only do it through My Astro mobile app under the “Rewards” tab, and nowhere else.
You might find that the list of eligible free movies redemption appears boring and unappealing to you now. I’m not surprised about this, because movies that high likely appealing for many to redeem, means Astro need to bear more costs. So, you’re stuck at whatever movies they’d offer you for free redemption only. You can only redeem ONCE, so don’t rush Customers who eligible for free movie redemption, are entitled to redeem one movie / one time only. And bear in mind, its movie listing will change from time to time. The free movie redemption is set to end on 31 Jan 2025, so you don’t need to rush to redeem it as soon as possible. You will be charged as usual if you do it wrongly If you rent Astro First movies in these touchpoints:

I notice astro put ads on ONE HD channel.
Just now watching there is susu tin, kfc, etc ads & after that drama continue. If ONE HD channel take ads break. There is some popup like Now Back( drama title). Well..... |

But we did not get any news/info whether is Astro currently conducting internal/private testing on UHD broadcast or not... But as for Measat satellite company, that one no need to say... They've been broadcasting/providing UHD channels on their Measat 3/3a C band satellite since few years ago. Technically, if Measat can, why Astro can't? It's just a matter that when they want to offer UHD services to customers only... Time will tell. |

GST is gone but Sales Tax will remain. If we buy a decorder we will pay sales Tax but there should be no Tax for services,this is my understanding. Only a Tax expert can enlighten us on this

Guessing the allignment already away... The previous signal from 70% until 34%.
Different channels done for checking signal, found out few channels only get 27%.. Already try to adjust DIY to adjust, but still manage to get 40+% signal only.. Normally you guy how to adjust the dish outside? Left and Right or Up and down? |

Based on news I saw today..
Only Astro have the rights for live telecast all games.. Actually there's 2 type of license given for world cup.. 1 is for Pay TV.. While another is FTA... Pay TV license have won by astro.. Others pay TV in Malaysia cannot broadcast the game.. RTM gets the FTA licence... Its mixture of live and delay telecast.... |

Astro basically shows a lot of rubbish these days. In the Indian packages music videos or music scenes get cut or censored a lot until the lip syncing goes out of sync or the video becomes to repetitive and most of the time they don't show properly or can't see at all.
Harmless scene nothing to censor also they censor, that's what my friend told me. Even sometimes the TV advertisements are crap. |

Im watching baywatch..want to ask..since when astro doesnt censor the f word and all the shitty words now? Its 11am in the morning and nothing is censored.. Asked my brother about it..he said da lame astro like that now..really? I just cut my streamyx 8mbps (previously watching VOD most of the time no lag), and recently change my home wifi to Digi, but seriously lag when watching VOD. speedtest KL server easily get 20-30mbps, but lag on VOD. not sure why. |

Dual language would be for selected movies only, for MAL , that would be BM, Singapore is Mandarin, HK is Cantonese etc.

Tried using Digi stream Netflix last nite for whole movie completely smooth, no pause no buffering.
Then continue stream VOD lag pula. Speedtest again 30mbps no problem. So is Astro VOD server punya pasal la? |

the Astro device decoder for VOD is slow as F. The UI is not userfriendly VOD I have to scroll soo far left or right.

Anyone feel dissapointed by astro offerings for world cup this year? I think in 2002 2006 2010 2014 the world cup channels were great. Got interactive channels, player cams, different angles cam, highlights channels and so on. Was like 6-8 channels dulu..
Now only 2..was thinking of buying the world cup pass since i dont have the sports package anymore but only 2 channels, and most of the time, i will be away raya at kampung, i skip la..i use my iptv service would be enuf.. |

I believe that RTM only gotten free to air(via airwaves) rights. Hence FTA channels via IPTV (IPTV rights) and/or Satellite TV rights are not included. This is the same case as in Taiwan .... The FTA chs running on IPTV have to block certain animation programs as the rights were not obtained by the Taiwan FTA player. So, the Taiwan IPTV provider will playback a replacement program during the time slot of the animation program and run a stroller informing no rights obtained by the FTA channel. Should be something like that.... Fyi.

Is my understanding correct, only those who watch RTM using old antennas and on Mytv can watch WC,while those who watch RTM1 & 2 on NJOI /Starhub/astro/unifi will be denied acess?

Happened to me before when I subscribed sport pack but did not get sport channels on AOTG. Now every astro subscription comes with free AOTG access of the channels we subscribe. Just sharing, latest saga between Discover Asia and Starhub, Starhub apparently didn't give in to DSC high demand and decided to launch some alternative replacements, some chs, mostly HD, are first time launching in Asia or worldwide..... For those interested:

My opinion on current situation is that astro remains a winner. Astro is easy to access for old folks at home and remains thier first choice. Though we have android boxes and unifi its complicated for the old.Many retain astro just for old folks. What we need is another service provider just for TV,a simple box and a remote. I cut asstro for 6 months now.My 8mbps Screamyx is unreliable.Most of the time buffer issues during peak hours. Thank god Unifi is coming next month for me! Unifi tv is a nuisance,the box is not as simple and user friendly!I also tried Mytv which again was not reliable,frequent signals lost! Most of the time it was You Tube! This is the situation why many still keep astro,at least until another pay tv makes its debut. When PH took over I wanted to watch Local News after so many years. Used Unifi for local tv,then tried mytv both were never reliable,frequent crashes! Finally I had to fix NJOI for local tv,and compared to Mytv and Unifi,Njoi was much reliable

Hello, everyone! A few hours ago, I have found out that someone has written an unreliable info on FOX Crime (Asia) wikipedia page, which states that Astro will launch FOX Crime HD along with SCM HD and SCM Legend on 1st August 2018. However, I don't believe that because Astro has never launched any channel that has been dropped by Unifi TV before, so I think it's not true at all. What do you think?

Starhub saved quite a lot by dropping the Discovey suite of chs..... So it's another kind of money saving for them
The flip side is comments from SH FB users is that they are switching over to Singtel which still has Discovery, Eve, DSC Science, DMAX etc...... But ST does not have AFC, Food Network N HGTV.... Have to see how it plays out soon |

Singapore too far ahead compare with other country. Indonesia & Thailand Pay TV still offer SD feed for Discovery Channel. They already take HD feed. Deswai need to pay more...
Btw, i lost hope oledi for astro to add more channel(mainly HD one). Astro focus to malay & sports content. Half of Astro HD channel is in-house. We will see Astro add good channel when there is new satellite Pay TV in Malaysia. |

Astro knows well there's lack of Malay content online (illegal).. That's why they harping on it to be at top...
If there's alternative for Malay content.. Astro can close shop already.. For others like Korean, Chinese or even Indian.. There's online feed for it.. Just stream only 😈 |

Hi guys, anyone experienced that difficult to connect specific channels (mine is 612 and 615)?
It happened intermittent. Once a while can view both channels instantly; once a while TV display "service currently no available" and forced to wait, switch between channels or restart decoder in order to view both channels |

Content investment in Malaysia shrank. That was a result of Astro cutting its spend on international pay channels and soft free-to-air advertising which blunted the Media Prima group’s ability to invest.

Meanwhile in Indonesia: I saw that most national TV stations here has FINALLY adapted HD technology!
RCTI has launched its own HD channel on its pay-TV platform (MNC Vision, for now) and SCTV has begun testing it's HD broadcast on it's video platform, Vidio and was on digital TV (with Indosiar, as well) for a short period of time. However, it still plagued with the same problem, some ads and programs are still broadcast in either native 4:3 or 16:9 letterboxed. So far, We now have 6-7 TV stations in Indonesia which have now broadcast in HD. EDIT: We have now confirmed that Trans TV and Trans 7 is now in native 16:9 HD format. Forgot to add that info, btw. How about Malaysia? Only 3. TV3, AL Hijirah and RTM. Who knows if Malaysia wants to compete with us in the name of 'technology'? Cartoon Network has HD logo on their HD feed ..... so can tell straightway if astro is taking the SD feed and upscale it ..... truTV has some interesting programs like 'The Carbonaro Effect', 'Impractical Jokers' etc. Attached thumbnail(s)

With regards to the UHD , I wonder if the quicker and cheaper way for them to hit the initial rollout would be to allow it on smart TV app Astro Go. This way the can control the always present piracy concern as it will not allow for HDMI out to a video capture card and they don't need to invest in any new hardware. Similar to how BBC broadcasted the recent tennis and world cup to their customers in the UK. Of course sky did it differently but there is an option at least. I know LG has the Astro Go app on the webOS platform for sure.

Singtel and Starhub National day free preview of about almost all chs ended 12 noon today, not much new chs , so nothing to share.
Curiousity Stream, a SVoD service in the US, launched their 1st ever linear channel on Starhub, at 11am today. Some pixs for sharing. No news of 4K on both ST and SH .... Love Nature 4K on SH is down converted to HD instead. Attached thumbnail(s)

hye frens..
need some info..my inlaws..currently d living room upstairs using pvr and the one downstairs using normal decoder.. Due to some issues, they want to switch the decoders..but problem is of course, the living room downstairs has only 1 tuner or 1 white antenna wire.. so wondering..if call astro n ask them to add another one, will they do it? n how much does it cost? i was thinking of getting an astro technician or installer who can do the job without going thru astro..my inlaws stay in bangi so if anyone knows a tech or installer in the bangi, kajang or putrajaya area, plz do share with me if u dont mind yea..tq |

Hi.. anyone knows what's the problem with this.. I have to enter a pin to format my pvr. I tried 1111,2222, ..., 9999, it said incorrect pin. If I tried 0000, it didnt said incorrect pin but simply nothing happen..
I'm going to call astro soon, but before I do that, who knows maybe someone can give me a quick solution..  |

Hi. I have 2 decoder at home. the main decoder got some problem, signal issues while the other decoder works just fine (from same antenna). How do I replace the main decoder? Buy from Astro or do they provide free replacement?

Just for shares, Canadian lifestyle channel, Gusto TV HD, quietly launched their Asia feed today 11am on Starhub TV. This is 1 of the so called replacement channel for the dropped TLC ch, Asian Food Channel (ceasing soon on Starhub), Food Network (ceasing soon on Starhub).
