Once you switched, you cannot switch back to the PVR box. That's why even with fiber Internet, I will never never switch to the Ultra box.

Give them more time to improve the software, like a year or longer. Maybe things have changed by then.

If there's no solid reasons on why you should upgrade to Ultra Box (such as you are a football fan, and you must enjoy EPL matches in 4K UHD quality, or u simply just want to try new stuff), then it is advisable to stick to your PVR box for the time being. Or in other words, if you're not a tech person, then don't upgrade to Ultra Box, for now la.

Just for your info, to watch Astro UHD channels, your 4K UHD TV must be able to compliant with HDCP 2.2 standards (otherwise, you could use a HDMI Splitter to bypass that). Or else, the HDCP error will appear when watching UHD content/channels. But don't worry, you can still watch existing SD and HD channels as usual.

I was on Super Pack 3 previously, which does not have the Indian or Indon channels as well.

If you are coming from Super Pack 1/2/3/4, you get more channels.

If you are coming from Super Pack Plus, you will get less channels without any addons on the Platinum.
Also, be careful if you are upgrading via the website. Existing subscription upgrades seem to default to Ulti Box even though you are on Ultra Box. Their order form problem.

The termination fee for ultra box is RM1000 prorated to 24 months. Approximately RM41.67 penalty for every remaining month in the contract.
Any downgrade has a penalty charge of RM500 prorated to 24 months. RM20.83 for every remaining month in the existing contract.

That is true actually. Astro wants as many customers as possible to upgrade to the Ultra Box or the Ulti Box, for the good of the customer (cloud recording, Play from Start,...) and also to them (they can put less focus on older tech stuff and put more focus on latest tech, hence spending money more efficiently).
And also to tie its customers with 24 months contract, and now even with contract auto renewal.

Hmmmm, maybe Boldnut can try this method? To see if they would replace to a new Ultra Box for you in the process?
You tell them your current Astro box got problem/spoil already, and you want it to be replaced.
Then they'll convince you about switching to the new packs. Just say you don't want, and you just want the Astro box to be replaced while maintain existing legacy packs you have now.
See whether they give you Ultra Box or not...

But why upgrade? The old PVR box is perfectly fine, you can see some complaints about the newer boxes on this thread

Free Ultra Box upgrade is only applicable if you're on Super Pack Plus. But since you mentioned your subscription is RM110+ per month, then definitely is not Super Pack Plus anymore.
