Anyone feel dissapointed by astro offerings for world cup this year? I think in 2002 2006 2010 2014 the world cup channels were great. Got interactive channels, player cams, different angles cam, highlights channels and so on. Was like 6-8 channels dulu..

Now only 2..was thinking of buying the world cup pass since i dont have the sports package anymore but only 2 channels, and most of the time, i will be away raya at kampung, i skip la..i use my iptv service would be enuf..

this time they are pushing for online platform stadiumastro
can watch live match in multiangle, direct feed from FIFA

so you are right, they somehow take down the multiangle feed and put into their online platform and mobile app doh.gif

The channel 102 RTM unable to watch, is it?

Just wondering why cannot broadcast RTM?
Is it because Unifi/astro don't want to pay to RTM for live broadcast? hmm.gif

Astro mia RTM feed can watch

other companies still want to venture in this sunset industry?

Good Point! Asstro makes more money in leasing transponders. Well the coming new players, how better can they get is left to be seen! Even free Mytv could not take off! With sports content still with asstro, what the new players may offer maybe just vernacular content hmm.gif
*
only measat can lease transponder

not astro

in a way measat lease transponder to astro and maxis = money flow from right hand to left hand = money pass between siblings within a family

who else gonna lease off transponder from measat? companies from foreign countries are barred from leasing foreign satellites due to security concerns of their own country

in the end, measat is bleeding, but the "father" will make sure its siblings get to help out a bit icon_idea.gif

expect to see more companies jumping in the bandwagon
next year gonna be shit year for most industries due to recession
yet some people think as if yelling bantah icerd can place food on their table, tongkat mindset never realized

to add:

they do have embarked on a journey towards digital transformation
by slowly getting rid of traditional DTH platform, into modernized digital technology company, this VSS might very well targeted towards these DTH platform people more. Ironically, revenues still coming from subscribers money, while digital products are losing money; so they can't chop off the DTH just yet

not many people actually know that Astro has its own ewallet and payment gateway, it has miserably low adoption in the market, due to lack of awareness of the products, what is the use of ewallet if all it ever does is just to pay astro bills?? Seriously, even TnG ewallet is catching up very fast

it is very hard to ride on the digital transformation bandwagon, if the mindset of most top managements still resides in 80s-90s era, those old man with ego bigger than their balls

Astro is implementing a strategic review of its business structure, including deeper cost rationalisation and workforce optimisation. While this would book in potential one-off expenses in the coming months, we are positive on the long-term cost savings, productivity improvement and more effective redeployment of its resources. In tandem with its strategy, the Group has announced the cessation of operations of Tribe OTT and live streaming platform Tamago in view of the challenging landscape. We understand that any cost savings from the closure will be reallocated to its growing home shopping business.

Astro is closing Tribe and Tamago. And be prepared for more Go Shop.

Tamago is really a topkek idea

How can they replicate the idea bulat bulat from China into Malaysia, demographic and sociographic is entirely different

I think not so very huge impact for the economy..
I guess it's government change already, causing those night backdoor been block...
And this year 2018, see from online news lot of CEO either retired or resigned...

Ooppss, oh ya.. It's out of topic.. We should back to astro discussions... whistling.gif
*
change of administration is only partial reason

but the giant bucket has been losing money for so long, only recently did the management decided to patch it

Tribe has been operating for 2 years and keep losing money, likewise for Tamago, office setup and staffs were hired, at the end? close shop.. all of these failed business ventures costs money

subscription and radio air time sales contributes most of the revenue, while digital products never break even, without the former 2 vital organs, they have been long dead

Huh.
What so special with the elections...
Not really effects Malaysia too..
If Indonesia, Thailand or even Singapore. Then yes. The change of government somehow have impact....

Astro should have just focus on adding / upgrade more channels into HD. And the launch of UHD too..

Sun TV, owned by AK tongue.gif

Given AK significant interest in India, the outcome of the election matters alot to his business empire and him personally

hbo rights been bought by astro, will be under astro.

maybe the day will come hbo does it alone here like netflix... then customer subscribe/pay standalone.

astro can start astrogo or hbo go as a standalone IPTV biz for new customers but i guess they dun want to - prefer control over the decoders.
*
i guess they have exclusive contract here with Astro

deswai Unifi don't have HBO channels
