if outside Klang Valley then I can understand there wont be much Umobile centre. I personally find it 3G is quite good already le~ I only started using 4G this year, past 3 years i'm using 3G only and I had actually turned off 4G purposely where I tot it actually drain battery faster. But with latest technology then it shouldn't be the problem. So I find 3G speed quite ok unless you are going to stream 4K videos. I only find 4G useful when you require to send and download large files, and stream videos and music. Otherwise 3G quite sufficient.
*
lately 4G is kinda unstable at some areas...
Seriously not recommended to use at all..

Hello, I would like some recommendations about upgrading my current U28 plan.

My current internet usage:

- About 3-5 Youtube videos a day, ~10 mins each at 480p
- Reddit
- Mobile games (KingGlory and Clash Royale)
- Light web browsing

Due to having only 3GB Data and 3GB VideoOnz, I've been very conservative with my usage. I'm able to finish the month with an extra of about 100MB

I'm planning to increase my internet usage if I decided to upgrade the internet plan.

Planned Usage:

- More Youtube Videos
- Tethering to my PC for gaming purposes (CSGO, LoL)
- Light browsing on PC
- More Reddit
- Snapchat (I've been limiting my Snapchat usage too)
- Maybe some downloads <500MB here and there when I'm on PC.

Additional points to note: I'm at Alor Setar and I have a stable 3G connection, up to 8Mbps down, 2Mbps up, 4G is not available here.

What plan should I get if I wanna get an upgrade?

Thanks in advanced.

Change to UMI prepaid. RM30 for 7.5GB high speed, 2.5GB youtube; for U28 you still have to pay RM29.68 (without itemised bill and assume not talking more than 50minutes).

Can I keep my phone number or do I have to change? Also, do I have to go to umobile shop for the change, or I can call the customer service to do it?

since normally our phone stay @ 3g/4g while using data, but sometimes while making call, they would use another network,
as my experience, when i set my phone network to LTE ONLY, which means there would be no network at all if LTE is not available, i can't make / receive calls/sms even i am able to use data of LTE, since u mobile does not support voLTE, they need 2g/3g for phone calls

I see. So I'm guessing I'm on 3g mode since my phone is an old phone (Galaxy Note 3) & I get no network when I switch to GSM.

prepaid only cons is call 30 mins vs postpaid 50 mins and no free sms
if not a problem with the cons then UMI 30 is a no brainer

Question here:
I'll be moving to the UK and I need to keep my phone number here for banking purposes.
I only need to receive SMS and thats all. No phone calls no internet no sms.
I'm thinking about changing my UMobile plan to prepaid for RM10/month to keep the phone number active so I can receive SMSes. I have spoken to a UMobile store worker and he told me it is not possible as my IDD wont be active if theres only RM10 in the prepaid account.
However I called the UMobile Cust Service and she told me otherwise.
So.... What should I do??

U mobile customer service really have no idea bout the whatever procedure regarding the service as last time i call 1318 and ask if i can direct port out my suppline number, she said can direct port out, but in the reality the supp number have to be changed ti individual number first whether it is post/prepaid. I ask her 3 times really, and she said yes. As for your case, better go to center and ask them personally. Or MNP to XoX, which can give 28 months validity under certain plan i believe..Any XoX dealer can confirm this?

Anyone have credit limit issue?

This issue is almost few months with PM also take decades to reply. My issue is on credit limit where the service centre in Times Square admitted is UMobile problem for the wrong credit limit issue. My limit suppose to be RM300 and RM 60 my subline but instead shows RM240 and RM60. And u guys said it is the system error. So even my paymemt is prompt but I still got barred for over credit limit. That's freaking annoying and called up to unbarred but still barred me again minutes later. Lodged the complain and called me said it is solved but yet last month I got barred. How do you guys want to settle it? I got no time to always go Times Square. Just got barred again event payment is prompt. Is very annoying.

Is very annoying.

not solved yet? i've been reading your comment here and there in the UM official FB page..get the case number and refer it to MCMC..

Is not about increasing credit limit. The problem is with their system. I've already lodge another complaint and they promise this round will settle it. Will see how it goes. The reason I share is to know whether any other victim out there.

QUOTE(inuyashaleong @ Aug 29 2017, 11:03 PM)

*
The line around Hotel Royale (on Jalan Alor Setar-Kangar)<Federal Route 7> is not stable.
I barely able to get around 10 to 40 kB/s.

They said over but i told them about my payment and also they have check that their system fault cause my credit limit suppose to be 300 and 60 for subline. My problem occur once I get a Mate 9 from UM. Before that no problem. So I think that UM never increase my credit limit that cause this issue. See how it goes next week.

So.... What should I do??

which bank? have the sms sent to your uk number.

I am quite okay with dg actually( I can get 4g most of the time with dg) except dg line is wery weak in my residential area... I have been a dg user more than 10 yrs, last time didn't use data, so no complaints. But, now, I used a lot of mobile data.. Thinking of porting to other telco, but my family members and friends mainly using dg and u mobile...

Hi guys, planning to subscribe to UMI30 to use as a portable hotspot.

Is there any tethering restriction similar to Webe on this plan?

No, the only restriction is your data (7.5 GB for UMI30 I believe).

Oh wait, the other restriction is the lousy U connection =). Of course if you have tested that connection is fine where you are then go ahead, best value for money.

As the day goes, more users are using for Internet purpose. This means congestion. Thus your data download bandwidth, or transfer rate, tends to drop. And it gets worse when it approaches night time since everyone is back home.

How's other telco? They gt congestion issue or not? Or u mobile is having congestion issue only?

Unlimited DATA only. You will be charged exorbitantly if you make or receive normal phone calls or send SMS while roaming. All the details are available on the Umobile website. (Of course, if you only make WhatsApp or other messenger-based calls then that is included in your unlimited data allowance).

still use video onz but brace yourself for buffering if you force it to 720p as it max out at 1.5Mbps, if you set auto, it will go 720p if the network stable enough..one more thing, you can opt out for video onz until the next bill cycle if you wish so by sending sms to u mobile..go check in the U website.

Hi guys, its my 4th month using U28 postpaid plan.

In the past 3 months I always had extra usage charge (so total bill amounts were always more than 28+GST), I want to know what they charged me for because I didn't buy add-ons but I can't find the details of charges on ma bills.

I did finish up my 3gb data every month and relied on the controlled turtle speed internet on the 4th week usually. Do they incur charges for using more than 3gb?

Didnt exceed usage for phone call and sms for sure.

You may refer your ebill sent to your email. Otherwise if you are opted for paper bill, that might be the case that you are having extra charges.

28+gst+RM3 paper bill..also 1800 number if any,..u mobile billing default to paper bill(which sometimes you'll never received), you have to call CS to cancel paper billing and send bill to your email and start saving RM3 per month..alternatively you can chat with their official representative regarding cancelling paper bill, have to provide your account's detail and your email.

Thanks for the tips I thought they did not send me the bill but eventually I found my ebill in my email junk box LOL. Also found out that the charges are for the calls to 1300 number.

I wonders whats is the main or biggest down sides to convert from U70 Hero postpaid to the U78 Unlimited since is was just a rm8 different & having unlimited data?

I guess somebody might be questioned this before.

If you wish to terminate a Plan, you can unsubscribe via UMB at *118*3*6# or by sending <OFF V20> for V20 and <OFF V30> for V30 to 28118. Any unused minutes will be forfeited.

I suggest using the above UMB option and choosing Stop Auto Renewal.

since the P78's speed is capped @ 5mbps, and most users convert from P70 to P78 experience worse network in terms of stability and speed, P78 is the plan we do not recommend ( no harm to try though ) sweat.gif

Definitely hotlink is much faster, just do a speedtest. They don't cap speed.

Actually if capped speed is exactly 5Mbps and stable it's still okay to use (see all those people still using 10Mbps Unifi). The problem is that when they cap and also have congestion, the effective speed that you get is intermittent and much lower.

Not really promotion. Just hope there's enough voucher for each usage. More voucher, more reloads you can buy.

11street, won't have much vouchers / discount compare to Lazada.

if u calculate the points and convert into cash voucher for Harvey Norman / aeon / KFC / Touch N Go

the rebate is like <>1%, i calculate it with 5 points when u spend RM 1

example KFC voucher 100 = 46400 points = RM 9280 to spend

PayPal can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express to make payment. So any payment at Lazada through PayPal would mostly go through. rclxms.gif

PayPal is a payment gateway. You link multiple credit cards into a single PayPal account, hence PayPal easy payment.
You can give it your first try when you make a purchase in Lazada.
Once you've done, you'll realize how easy it is.

Those in Klang Valley, especially around Old Klang Road. How's the U Mobile service so far? Has there been any improvement after the spectrum refarming? Thinking of moving my Broadbank back to U Mobile, from DiGi if it has improved significantly.

Standard reply, only costs <RM10 to get a prepaid and test yourself.

Just because your 2 doors away neighbour gets good/bad speed doesn't mean you're the same. My U lines don't seem to have any improvement since the refarming.

Could it be the sim card / number is from other region?

I remember when last time, choosing number, they are segregated according to northen, southern, middle region.

100000% guarantee the number u chosen wont affect ur internet / voice setup speed nowadays

This only happen at last time when calling across diff region having roaming rate as the server is located at different region in malaysia...

Your speed so slow. 4G+ should achieve a lot like 80-100Mbps.

You say 5min & revert back to 4G signal. Maybe, their side is testing for now & will be ready next 2 month... hmm.gif

I bought from Lazada reloads. So can mix from 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50, 100.

For voucher code of -5, you can reload thrice in a day.

10 + 15
25

i can answer no.2 only. p78 speed capped at 5Mbps, max dl speed is around 500kBps. streaming is good if not stream HD stuff, youtube max at 480p. Mobile legend no comment on it.

I am planning to plot in from Celcom to U38 for my Wife. How is Umobile coverage for PG island, ALOR Setar or even PLUS North South highway. Reason to plot in is U38 unlimited calls and 4GB data. Currrnt Celcom Postpiad plan is RM38, 50 minutes call & 5GB Data can carry forward and max cap is 5GB. Am I worth for a try as a Hero or end up as ZERO to Umobile ?

I guess no one cares, but just for the record, Umobile prepaid data roaming does not work in Cambodia. I connected to the roaming partner Cellcard, turned off 4G/LTE as recommended by UM, but no data connection. I complained to UM through the app but they didn't reply, so they don't care, either. sad.gif

NVM, can buy Smart sim in Cambodia, US$6 for 4GB data, valid for one month.

I guess u might only able to purchase booster for ur UMI rather than buying another MB plan without UMI plan unsubscribed.

They just cant... Else they ad release hundreds type of package to counter other telco.

It is due to their vendor is too expensive compared to others and of coz, network is too congested d.

Anything above 10mbps is consider bonus Liao. Even though I don't use that fast but it's good to have faster speed at times.

congested for sure.. too many subs in a single cell. technical term is access contention.

normally in this situation, telcos will deploy C.O.W aka carrier on wheels. it’s a mobile base station carried by van. can be spotted around crowded events. smile.gif

big telcos have them, not sure bout UM.

Hi everyone,

I registered/bought a new umobile prepaid SIM card for an old phone. It's not even a smartphone...just very very low end basic samsung phone for my grandma to use.

When I insert the new SIM card and turn on, it say "Network Lock" and requires a password/code to unlock. I have only 10 tries...and after trying several I have 6 tries left. It's not 1234...tried that and failed.

Does anyone know? Thanks all!

It means that the phone you have is "SIM Locked" SIM lock - Wikipedia

I wonder is the phone that you inserted the SIM into from Malaysia? Also DO NOT finish the 10 tries, if you do that then your phone is useless and WILL NOT connect to any networks anymore.

Yes it's possible the phone was brought from Europe since it was given to me. Is there any solution to this? Will any locak mobile phone shops able to 'unlock' it?

No phone shops in Malaysia can help you as the lock is coded to the network from Europe. You would need to buy the code online from a website or ask the person that you purchased the phone from to request an unlock code from the network in Europe.

Hi guys, wanna ask about UM wifi calling before port in. Is it mean even though I’m roaming in any overseas country but after connect to wifi, all calls are considered as “local†MY call? So will deduct minutes from my local MY call plan?

Wifi Calling from overseas to Malaysia will be charged per your local calls plan. Wifi calling when roaming to overseas number wil be charged per IDD rates.

Mobile to mobile, yes you can use apps to call but for landline it is very useful to have wifi calling like now I don't have coverage at my place since UMobile "upgraded" their antenna. This is my final week with UMobile. Plus older folks not into mobile phone.

Means only wifi calling calls back to MY will count as "local" call. Deduct minutes from call plan. But if call any overseas number will count as IDD

Yes..since umobile introduce app onz (free unlimited FB, twitter and instagram), the quality dropped significantly. I also port out my umobile postpaid to other telco.

Yes..since umobile introduce app onz (free unlimited FB, twitter and instagram), the quality dropped significantly. I also port out my umobile postpaid to other telco.
*
Dunno what is going on with umobile. Ever since they are awarded with the extra spectrum, they have not made much progress in the network rollout. Instead they introduce a lot of 'side' feature like insurance or carrier billing....

Are they really deaf toward what is really happening?

U mobile is rotten slowly mate..extra spectrum, yet customer complaints take for granted. Only 1 or 2 among 100 comments in their Fb are good comments lol.

to be fair, network rollouts take time. smile.gif

delays beyond projected timeline is normal. last time, even celcom took years with their rollout.

Hi, i’d like to check with anyone here who has used the Roam-onz in Indonesia - Bali to be specific. Last September 2017 when I was there, i roamed on Indosat. There seems to be mobile signal, and voice calls are fine. However, there is no data despite my phone displaying the 3G symbol. Not sure what went wrong. My data settings were checked many times and it was turned on. Anyone faced this with Indosat before?

UMobile website need to update their store locator list for name change/mnp/account update. 1318 CS also need to update their knowledge, gave me wrong info when I called to confirm. Yesterday was a very long day still can't mnp yet when the girl messed up my account to change one of my postpaid to prepaid as a result the process is "stuck" online and can only be cleared tomorrow. The supervisor apologies for the error and she will personally follow up. I hope they did not delete my phone number as my SIM card is void.

Umobile is getting worse each day especially those congested location.
Complaints also useless as it just standard that they will look into it.. In the end.. Umobile never bother to get back to user.

Useless shitty Telco...
Anyway I still on P70 which is use by my Gf at her place.. Seem never have any congestion issue.
My place like steroid turtle speed... Data internet crawling like snails.
Suspect that it happen because it is possible to bypass Umobile system to get unlimited data which is happening now...
Maybe that why.. Congestion issue become worse for past months..

It is quite common with U though..Nothing uncommon..Me last time almost 2 weeks no service emergency call only..lucky got back up sim on dual sim phone..

Seriously that bad...I am having that problem on daily basis several times per day now... lose network for several seconds

QUOTE(MakNok @ Oct 10 2017, 07:34 AM)
Umobile is getting worse each day especially those congested location.
Complaints also useless as it just standard that they will look into it.. In the end.. Umobile never bother to get back to user.

Useless shitty Telco...
Anyway I still on P70 which is use by my Gf at her place.. Seem never have any congestion issue.
My place like steroid turtle speed... Data internet crawling like snails.
Suspect that it happen because it is possible to bypass Umobile system to get unlimited data which is happening now...
Maybe that why.. Congestion issue become worse for past months..
*
They don't take the complaint seriously. I posted it in their Twitter... but all they can say search network manually. Like what kind of solution is that. I told them losing network out of the blue for several seconds. Before I can search network, it is already up and running again

The main question is, why we are losing network in the first place?

Standard answer..keep blaming our devices, manual search bla bla bla. Try to peep into their FB page and you'll see a tons of bad comments though..whoever chasing unlimited voice on the cheapest basis with several amount of data (even if you can't use it smoothly), then this Telco is for you. yup...complaints always buat bisu saja..
Umobile CS is like that since Day 1...

i have been "loyal" eversince UMobile launched...
Even download 1TB monthly when really truely unlimited plan...hahaha

i have been MNP in out countless time since...
Complaint to UMobile Service have been always like that.
all complaint buat tak tahu saja

vmad.gif

As for Congestion.....i think UMobile buat tak tahu saja.
Suspect congestion usually on location...
At night.....is the worst....connected to 4G/3G fullbar...but internet macam 64kbps

Only at certain location...UMobile still happily smooth day in day out.
thumbup.gif
i can only say 90% UMobile congestion almost all the time especially those "hot" area..too many user logging same time

AND currently blady UMobile system have glitch where VPN can bypass system Unlimited data thus creating even worse congestion without the need to purchase any plan....

Make sure all complaints and feedbacks channel to MCMC / CFA ya...

Or else it'll be fallen into deaf ears. You paid for functional services, not disruption. Hence description or unavailable usage is already voiding the SLA.

After complaint to authority, you can get rebate in return for the down time or unusable usage.

Hi all,
wanted to ask the new Unlimited Hero P78 which include:
* Unlimited high-speed data up to 5Mbps
* Includes Unlimited Video-Onz with SD video streaming
* Limited time promo only.

the Video-Onz apps required to install in the phone with sim or can it be the app install on tvbox but the line is sharing from mibile phone using umobile R78?

Generally speaking from my experience, report to UMobile 1318 first and then follow up with the bank. The bank usually will tell u it has nothing to do with them as they do not know which telco you are using or change. When we request for OTP / TAC the bank will just send it out as requested.

hi, it seem there is big compatibility issue between u mobile 4G LTE with Samsung SM-P355 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 LTE with S Pen that are 4G LTE compatible, i couldnt even surf the internet or doing any internet related activities, with my u mobile sim card inserted into the Samsung Tablet,

i have tried to force u mobile connection to 3G and even 2G only at Samsung Tablet Android setting, i still couldnt even surf the internet or doing any internet related activities.

i even tried to use the Samsung Tablet at multiple city nearby the city i live while i travel, i still couldnt even surf the internet or doing any internet related activities.

however i could surf internet and doing any internet related activities, with another provider ALTEL sim card that use Celcom network inserted into the Samsung Tablet.

i have tried to use my u mobile sim card at Xiaomi Redmi Note 1 LTE, it is connected to u mobile 4G LTE and work without any issue.

i have also tried to use my u mobile sim card at TP-Link M5360 3G HSPA+ Mobile Mifi with battery, it work with u mobile without any issue.

Samsung SM-P355 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 LTE with S Pen are using Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 SoC, according to AIDA64 android app.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 1 8GB LTE are using Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 Soc with MSM8226 Board, according to AIDA64 android app.

hi, is it true that :

P78 plan have capped high speed up to 5mbps and P70 plan doesnt have capped high speed (means speed can go above 5mbps)

I was thinking of changing the plan, but i'm not sure what's the difference between these two.

I really like to see UM gives the big 3 more competition but at the rate they are going about setting up their new network it is driving away customers. In my place I have no network since August 15 and I finally port out last night. Their various phone packages are very suitable for my family but pointless when the coverage is poor. Until UM gets them right, will stay away for now.

Their investment on infra isn't as much as Celcom, Maxis and Digi. Hence the overall user experience doesn't improves.

But their package plans are the one keeping them afloat. Hopefully long enough to cover their operation expenses.

No use if good package if coverage sucks big time...

So before actually port in, test first.. Or survey with the current users in the particular area

properly unbilled amount exceeding Credit limit
because the bill reflects the latest bill amount only, not unbilled amount, normally occur when u are roaming use / subscribing Booster or buying games like RM 400 for Clash royale tongue.gif

Guys. I'm in Vietnam and activated UData roam. They send SMS and said Unlimited data usage for rm36 but why once I activated it, it said 10MB only? Can I cancel it and get refund?

10mb is stated in the tnc.

vietnam stopped offering cheap data roaming to foreign telcos since 2015. now you pay more than what you would pay when in european countries smile.gif

Hi, I've been noticing that sms from uber is delayed for some reason.... Like after 10 minutes the code would show up.

Is this a known issue with umobile? I've actually tried with 2 phones already

UM is putting up their network towers progressively as they are not renewing their contract with Maxis. Many of the towers placement have been in the wrong place and coverage drop. But some areas that had poor coverage had made improvements. Really good.

I had no coverage for 3 months before I gave up and mnp. But I was just informed that they have now upgraded my place and I was told to test it again if I decide to mnp back to UM.

come here to ask the same time. From what I see so far it seems only Huawei Mate 9 for android. Some googling also shows that Volte seem to rely on telco specific implementation as well, maybe they havent put much effort into porting to other phones as well since it probably require them to specifically code for phone models.

Hi! I just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (SM-G570Y) to Android 7.0 today. I saw WiFi calling is supported so I went on to send wificalling on to 28118. The request is processed and I tried Wifi calling and worked fine. In the other hand, VoLTE seems not working on my device although U Mobile FAQ states that most device with 4G should support VoLTE. I rechecked online and confirmed my phone supports VoLTE. Anyone got it working?

Yeap, got 2 types of volte phone.
Blocked by oem (samsung / huawei)
Not blocked by oem ( they will trigger volte service themselves)

U mobile has been received many registration from weird volte phones... India brand is one of them smile.gif.... Lolx
I think due to the popular operator there...

Hi, would like to ask, I just request to port out umobile yesterday at 4pm. But until now still not yet success. SMS verification already done.
Last time I do mnp only few hours can done. Is there anyway to speed things up? I might need to change telco today, due to my place umobile always show no service and my family can't reach me.

You will probably get an answer 24 hours later from the time you confirmed the text or anytime after the deadline set from UMobile confirmation text if there is no complication. This is my recent experience from UMobile about 2weeks ago.

Previously when I MNP from Maxis within 4 hours after my text confirmation, Maxis approved my MNP. I believe most telcos now takes their time to approve your MNP.

got such condition? i assume it only requires your line in active status, not dormant, means it is not within grace period, your line can call out/sms out by the time asking porting out although u would lose all balance after that.

it was like that for hotlink. used up all my credit before mnp but mnp got rejected the first time. called CS and she told me need minimum of RM1.00. i topup then mnp went through. nevertheless, i've already lodged a complain with MCMC. waiting for reply.

so just wondering if it's the same for umobile.

Be careful with U Data Roam at the border states.

I was at Johor customs on Umobile 4G when it dropped me.
I was connected to Singtel and even though data roaming is off I received SMS I had activated U Data Roam RM 10.

I called the helpline and they informed me that as long as your phone is LTE and has roaming. Even connecting to Singtel activates the roaming.

They refused to reverse the charge.

They informed me the only way to avoid this is to manually select the Telco from Umobile 4G, Umobile 3G or Maxis; or disable roaming. Meaning at places where 4G is weak it won't auto switch to 3G or Maxis.

So just FYI not good for border states where your Umobile can drop and connect you to a roaming partner automatically.

Happened to me. At least 3 - 4 times. You will get charged RM10 if you roam at their partner. (Not sure what kind of data trigger it, mine also off data roam.)

For umobile user, better switch to manual selection of network.

Did you send any sms command to get that VoLTE activated ? Using Samsung too

it was like that for hotlink. used up all my credit before mnp but mnp got rejected the first time. called CS and she told me need minimum of RM1.00. i topup then mnp went through. nevertheless, i've already lodged a complain with MCMC. waiting for reply.

so just wondering if it's the same for umobile.
