Had a go at them yesterday. Can't say the touch-bar is smart or really dumb. The things it's capable of doing is limitless, especially once software to utilize it keeps up.

But the location of the touch-bar, and how un-intuitive it is to use makes it a really really hard sell. Plus the pricing. So I think I'll stick my old MBP until they figure out what to do with themselves again.

But I realised that price is a bit huge from between non vs touch bar model

hope the battery issue can be fixed in the coming os update.

Hey just wondering few days ago I was able to open the lid with single hand, but now seems the lid get strengthen or something, opening the lid with one hand will lift the base as well(not able to open with one hand anymore😢😢), possibly any issue? lol, overall it is a great machine ❤️❤️

Wonder how they managed to get 17.25 hours with the latest update. Updated yesterday but battery lasted barely 6 hours with normal surfing on Firefox and chat on Telegram. Actually most of the time was idle.

ps. the screen brightness was set less than half the bar and bluetooth off. Nothing was connected to the mbp.
Hopefully is was not the firefox that drained the battery.

Last night went to play play for display set, the touch bar, I love that feature is quite sensitive , volumes and the rest.

i guess the update still not yet available to public. unless you join their beta program.

Sorry, what I meant using "latest update" was the beta 10.12.3 (Beta) update.

It will not magically double battery, if u have a look at their battery test the brightness is 100 nits, that's 1/5 from full brightness.

I did not wish it to double. Only wish the battery live as advertised on apple webpage.

Just received my macbook pro 13 inches, with touch bar. Pretty impressed with the notebook and its battery life. My last laptop was a macbook air 2012. I wrapped it matte finishing at Mobile Outfitting. Love the work that they do....

I actually can't get the functionality concept of the touchbar.

If you tell me there is a set of virtual keys on say a mobile phone. I kinda agree it works because you are looking at where you type. But having it on a laptop where you are bound to have to lower your vision to visually get a view of the touchbar in order to use it is kind of an annoyance to me. More so especially with auto correction. Not to mention not touch typist friendly in the first place. Maybe force touch can be added later.

Other than pure novelty, and possibly another part that fails. I don't really know what to make of it.

Don't really like butterfly switch keyboards as well.

Force touch would complicate the touch bar even more. And the touchbar is at your peripheral vision so you don't really have to "look down" and view it. The auto correction is stupid but the history viewer/filter silder in Photoshop with touch bar is great. It depends on how well developed the app is and I believe it will just get better over time.

The butterfly switch keyboard takes some time to get used to... and I don't know but it's the best keyboard I've ever used.

I fell in love with the keyboard immediately. I have no bad feeling about the touch bar either. Looking down slightly while using my notebook is not a big deal for me. And I bought it after I tried this 2 features.

For the touch bar, it is slightly controversial some may find it useless, some may find in useful. but I strongly disagree with your keyboard point. The keyboard is the best keyboard I ever experience on a laptop. hahaha

Give it sometimes. You'll love the keyboard, although it takes me 2 hrs to fall in love.

It depends on the height which you are sitting and the height your laptop is placed. Typically, if your screen is opened at a wide angle, then you are just staring down at the laptop from way up top and it would most probably not be an issue.

But typical work desk height would not place be those scenario and you end up having to shift your vision away from the screen just to pay attention to the touchbar especially if you use the function keys a lot. And without being able to feel the keys, you are quite much forced to look at it before touching.

That is how i feel. But then, i was looking at 15". Maybe a 13" might be a bit better with the slightly reduced screen height.

I don't know about the statement of "best keyboard". But, it sure ain't my favourite.

I had a loaner for the best part of a week. Still can't find myself liking it.

Having no travel in the keys is like just very abnormal. I understand the need to make the entire package thinner. But, i just personally think they went too far with the keyboard.

And best part of all things. Wintel lappies will follow that trend.

my view on touchbar:

i guess its mainly meant for photo/video/music editting, the workflow will be much more smoother than you using mouse/trackpad.

other than that like word prediction or options, i dont find it useful.

I didn't get to test that in a mac shop cos they don't have those stuff installed. Just the base OS.

I did not mess with my loaner as well because it belongs to someone and they don't need those stuff on it.

I think there is some use. Obviously not something that a touch typist might typically use like you mention. Something that won't bother someone by looking down at it before they make selections on the bar.

I got a 15inch one for one week and then I returned it because I think the space grey looks tacky. And now I ordered a silver one haha the return it's not 30 days but I think about 14.


Not a developer, can't say much bout how much the function key is going to matter but i believe if you use it long enough, you can touch type on it like how I could on an iphone.. just a little after a week i can already adjust brightness and volume without looking at it.
About the keyboard, its controversial, but it's by far the fastest and best keyboard I can type on. And i love the short travel.... it makes me type faster in one sense with lesser effort. My speed considerably improved to 86wpm lolol from 80 on the older MacBook pro

I guess different people has different needs.

Maybe Apple did struck gold with this with the majority of people. I just can't get the hang of it.

The keyboard i still can accept and used to it but the Up Down arrow key is the worst.
You can try press it gently with same light pressure like other keys and it is not always triggered even clicking.
I am a programmer so i use this key very frequently, so i am quite upset about this.
Other then that is a good laptop.

Managed to improve my battery significantly after I checked the "Automatically graphics switching" box in the Energy saving setup.
Damn... don't know when or why I unchecked it earlier.

Don't recommend screen protector cause the screen might be very reflective after that.
Get radtech screensavrz to protect the screen. haha

The diff with latest iphone SE,iphone 6,6s,7 are they included something security call Secure Enclave. and NFC so you can pay via phone or apple watch or macbook pro

It's not that the spec is not good, but ur friend gave u not much of a discount for a second hand item. It's not much different to someone selling in garage sale section.

I having the 4 ports, but only using 2 ports Because you don't only buy an adapter for one port/function.
For example, you will buy the port adapter that consist of VGA + USB -C to USB.

Received my 13" with Touch Bar today. Gen-2 butterfly keyboard is noticeably better than the gen-1 on the 12". Speakers are very similar to the 12" too, in a good way.

Did some light gaming on Overwatch (via Bootcamp) and Diablo 3, quite impressed with the integrated GPU

nice. u have both the 12" macbook + this 13" MBP with touchbar.

2 ports I think it's enough for now. however, the major advantage is charging port can be use either left or right. great covenience.

Check condition. If only minor scratches, no dings then it is worth it..

Only found silver in MY, so I bought this grey colour from SG...

Colour doesn't match 100%, but at least cable is braided. No drivers needed, plug and play just like Apple's multiport adapter.

Currently using the Unitek USB C dongle, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, HDMI and USB C power pass through. Works quite well and hasn't failed me yet. My colleague who bought another brand from Lazada kaput after a month. Still charges through the power but the HDMI output failed.

Any chance of mbp coming with nvidia gpu this or coming years ? btw how does the battery going when we use dongle too often .

The pop sound is likely coming from one of your keyboard key that is faulty (too much glue). It only happens when your computer is on high load. You can send your laptop to a service centre if you want to rectify it..
(its the 2016 MacBook pro right?)

Unlikely IMHO, none of the pascal GPUs have suitable TDP for the thin and light MBP.

The new models are still good. Light weight, sturdy premium feel.

Overpriced - yes
Touch bar - gimmicky (as of now, whether with app support still I won't find myself using it). It's like the 3D Touch of iPhone. Useful but not essential
Keyboard - probably personal preference but it's okay to type on.
USB-c only ports - hassle yes. Will someone die? No
Battery usage (13") - just normal comparable to others. Not as great as MacBook Air which really is astounding. Same like 6 plus battery life wow when it came out. Now just meh.

Pretty typical of most YouTube reviewers comments. If you need to buy it, yes. If you can hold on, do so. It's like the iPhone S cycle minimal changes.

sharing my experience working with the entry level model

-8GB is more than enough for me to open photoshop, illustrator, pdf reader and safari
to handle the workflows
-battery life is supreme but i still need to charge after 5 o 6 hours (50-70% brightness)
- if i keep my battery level under 50% , it can stay alive for more than8 /10hours (browsing purpose)
-retina display is awesome
-if you are working in low light environment, u definitely need to turn on higher than 50% brightness to keep track the pixel (designer thing)
-keyboard is awesome, so much better than gen1


the problem i facing
-13inch is good, unfortunately my web design work requires bigger screen
the photoshop layer panel is the only issue i facing now , it has small spaces to show few layers only
-screen easily to get dirty

I just bought an USB C to multiport adapter. Once I put on that adapter then it will disconnect my wifi from MBP. Anyone else experience the same thing?

It's normal... Only Apple ones work best for me now currently

What I find online, it said that the UBS-C emit interference toward 2.4ghz wireless adapter.
Which is true because if I use 5ghz wireless then it be able to connect.

Some tips online that given but I not yet try out - wrap the dongle with aluminium foil to isolate the interference.

Finally bit the bullet and got my very own 2016 MacBook Pro.

My initial impressions after a day of usage, is just WoW! 😳

Build Quality is just impeccable. And this display is just awesome especially with the noticeably-improved contrast ratio over the previous generation of Retina displays of the previous MacBook Pro notebooks. And the Space Grey colour, Oh My God it is GORGEOUS!

And the speakers, holy crap, I think these are hands down the best notebook speakers ever, period! There's actually really good bass response!

The Touch Bar is just amazing. I could do great stuff like easily bold, underline, italicise, colour my text in Gmail and format text quickly via the Touch Bar in Microsoft Word. And being able to scrub through a YouTube video playing in full screen is just plain awesome too. Last but not least, I love the tap-and-slide function to adjust volume and brightness on the Touch Bar. It is kind of like a Mini-iOS touch screen. 👌🏻

The keyboard is a joy to type on and accuracy is just way better than the previous non-butterfly versions of the previous MacBook Pro notebooks. Sometimes I do find that the limited physical travel can be a bit fatiguing for long typing sessions, but then I'll just plug in my Razer Blackwidow Chroma mechanical keyboard for such usage.

Battery life is truly remarkable so far for me for light-to-average app usage. After updating to the latest macOS Sierra, typing a long email (for roughly 20 minutes) on the Gmail web interface in Safari only sipped the battery and the usage time remaining showed a staggering 9 hours+ remaining (constantly) via my monitoring app. My display was set to 30% brightness, and it is sufficient for dimly lit indoor conditions since the total overall brightness output has been increased a lot since the previous generation.

All in all, if you are wondering whether this laptop is worth the price, I would say a big YES if you are the type that appreciates bleeding edge state of the art technology. There's just something about the thin build, extreme light weight, and power in such an amazingly-put together and engineered package.
