I just tested Innergie PowerGear 45w USB C charger with the base macbook pro 2016 non touch bar, it works but with a caveat..

if you connect the charger directly to the macbook, it will not work, but if you connect to a usb c hub with powerdelivery.. it will work and charge at the rate of 40w.. which i find good enough to charge ..

so now i just leave the hub and innergie powergear in the office.. ori apple charger at home..

i have a single cable docking in the office.. connect the 1 usb c cable..i have hdmi out, usb A hub, and power .. awesome..

Thanks. Very reasonable price for a MacBook charger (together with cable too).
Looks awesome to boot!  rclxms.gif

Now if only they would release a higher watt output version for the MacBook Pros.  unsure.gif

how long does it take to fully charge compare to original apple 61w charger?
*
based on my observation , not much difference.. probably slight slower but not that slow that you would notice.. to me is acceptable because of the convenience of not having to carry the ori charger back n forth ..

got my Akitio node eGPU setup with my MacBook 13 non touch bar... manage to get a gtx 1080ti at the SRP price and not the jack up mining price that is happening right now to other cards..

any game that CPU intensive will have frame drops because the i5 on the MacBook non touchbar is quite weak..but non cpu intensive game plays perfectly and I can game at native retina resolution .

But when I plug it into my 4K tv, now that is where all the stutters that I had with CPU bottleneck disappeared.. played Battlefield 1 ULTRA settings at 4K 60fps .. I was amazed...

at 1080p..i would get around 55-60% GPU usage and CPU was bottlenecking the gpu..but on 4k..99% GPU usage.. based on MSI Afterburner reading.

at 4K, the difference between eGPU and desktop setup becomes more like less 5% instead of the 20-30% on 1080p..

I tried mining zCash using the eGPU.. getting roughly 650-700 Sol/s ..

all of this were done using Windows 10 Bootcamp though.. and for MacBook 15 touch bar.. you would get a better figure as the Thunderbolt implementation is better because the PCIe lane is directly connected to CPU unlike the MacBook 13 where is connected to PCH controller which shares bandwidth with usb, storage and network..

its a good option/add on for people who wants some GPU power in their MacBook setup..

Ic. Because I know that a real powerful eGPU plus casing everything is actually quite close to the price of building a gaming pc itself.
*
basically all thunderbolt 3 eGPU are the same max speed on 40Gbps (32Gbps minus overhead) .. only difference is some come with usb ports/network port..

in terms of performance.. they should be similar ..

I got my akitio node case for rm1k... which is a good price as to import one would cost me double the price.. I personally would not pay rm2.4k for the asus XG station because I can build a basic pc rig with that price ..

Guys,

I recently bought LG 27UD88 for my 2016 13" MBP with touch bar. Somehow the signal doesn't pick up by the monitor via USB-C (but it charge). The "Displays" only shown display of the MBP itself.

Tried with USB-C cable comes with monitor as well as the one of MBP charger. No luck.

However, when I connect it with HDMI, it works.

Wonder what's happening, was it cable or setting problem?

same here.. I bought LG 29UM59a... When i connect usb c cable from monitor to my macbook..it will only charge.. but not display out..

but when i connect my note 8 to the same usb cable .. the monitor ask do i want to switch to USB C displayport ...

so i think it has something to do with the macbook usb c port...
