sharing my experience working with the entry level model

-8GB is more than enough for me to open photoshop, illustrator, pdf reader and safari
to handle the workflows
-battery life is supreme but i still need to charge after 5 o 6 hours  (50-70% brightness)
- if i keep my battery level under 50% , it can stay alive for more than8 /10hours  (browsing purpose)
-retina display is awesome
-if you are working in low light environment, u definitely need to turn on higher than 50% brightness to keep track the pixel (designer thing)
-keyboard is awesome,  so much better than gen1
the problem i facing
-13inch is good, unfortunately my web design work requires bigger screen
the photoshop layer panel is the only issue i facing now ,  it has small spaces to show few layers only sad.gif
-screen easily to get dirty sad.gif

Hi. As apps like Photoshop have Touch Bar support built-in, could you share on how the Touch Bar has helped with your workflow?

It's normal... Only Apple ones work best for me now currently

That being said, I wonder if the heavily-hyped Hyperdrive will have similar issues (like affecting Wifi signal, etc.). hmm.gif

Poor EMI shielding

oh  mine is without touchbar
but one my friend is using the touchbar feature to boost his workflow
he did share some info to me
if no mistaken, he sets the touchbar for the shortcut keys he always use
like
select - inverse
function  -  black & white
tabs opening  (some designer prefer minimal work layout, so they close all except the layer and color)    -  property

Great to hear that! Thanks for sharing.

Hey guys. What's up?

Finally bit the bullet and got my very own 2016 MacBook Pro.

My initial impressions after a day of usage, is just WoW! 😳

Build Quality is just impeccable. And this display is just awesome especially with the noticeably-improved contrast ratio over the previous generation of Retina displays of the previous MacBook Pro notebooks. And the Space Grey colour, Oh My God it is GORGEOUS!

And the speakers, holy crap, I think these are hands down the best notebook speakers ever, period! There's actually really good bass response!

The Touch Bar is just amazing. I could do great stuff like easily bold, underline, italicise, colour my text in Gmail and format text quickly via the Touch Bar in Microsoft Word. And being able to scrub through a YouTube video playing in full screen is just plain awesome too. Last but not least, I love the tap-and-slide function to adjust volume and brightness on the Touch Bar. It is kind of like a Mini-iOS touch screen. 👌🏻

The keyboard is a joy to type on and accuracy is just way better than the previous non-butterfly versions of the previous MacBook Pro notebooks. Sometimes I do find that the limited physical travel can be a bit fatiguing for long typing sessions, but then I'll just plug in my Razer Blackwidow Chroma mechanical keyboard for such usage.

Battery life is truly remarkable so far for me for light-to-average app usage. After updating to the latest macOS Sierra, typing a long email (for roughly 20 minutes) on the Gmail web interface in Safari only sipped the battery and the usage time remaining showed a staggering 9 hours+ remaining (constantly) via my monitoring app. My display was set to 30% brightness, and it is sufficient for dimly lit indoor conditions since the total overall brightness output has been increased a lot since the previous generation.

All in all, if you are wondering whether this laptop is worth the price, I would say a big YES if you are the type that appreciates bleeding edge state of the art technology. There's just something about the thin build, extreme light weight, and power in such an amazingly-put together and engineered package.

Just sharing. 😊

some keyboard complaints on macrumors forum. yours?
*
So far so good. sweat.gif

The thing about the keyboard complaints I have read on various forums (before I even purchased my own one) is that a lot of them are due to dust / grime under the keyboard keys, and some users have reported that initial keyboard issues with their 2016 MacBook Pro went away after some time of usage. So perhaps this new second generation Butterfly mechanism needs some burn-in time. hmm.gif

Also, I bet many users use their 2016 MacBook Pro for gaming too. What I would want to say is that this keyboard is really NOT MEANT for gaming, and I personally do not recommend to game on it. And in my opinion, heavy gaming sessions will cause the keyboard to wear out quicker than it should. At least, plug in an external keyboard or use the Apple Magic Keyboard for gaming. Hehe. brows.gif

I've ordered mine with touchbar and should arrive this thursday.

one of the feature i'll surely miss from my current MBP would be the awesome Magsafe. Saved me couple of times already.

Anyone used this? any feedback?

This model is selling in Machines but it can only support the MacBook 12 and 2016 MacBook Pro 13" only apparently.

There is a new model coming out soon that will have support for the 2016 MacBook Pro 15" which has much higher power draw, and I'm planning to get that.

Ive been trying to back this project on indiegogo but I don't know why they keep declining both my maybank and Citibank card. I called the respective bank and they already cleared the transaction saying they don't have any issues. Anyone having the same issue?

After checking the link given by Hanabi12 earlier, it seems that there are so few backers on the Indiegogo project. Very weird. Anyone from here successfully backed it?

Oh. I was looking at the deals section whereby only a few actually selected each various deal. Seems that this resets back to zero after the earlier batch perhaps.

Oh yeaaaaa. Just got my Moshi Clearguard keyboard protector for my MBPtb 15. My first impressions (with photos) below.

user posted image

The packaging is just amazing. Very premium even for just a keyboard protector.

user posted image

Been using it for the day and it feels really good! The tactile feel of the butterfly keyboard still can be felt.

Best part is the Touch Bar area is protected as well. There are also adhesive strips to hold down the protector (which I have not removed just yet).

Also loving the 'Moshi' wording on the protector itself.

Highly recommended and no regrets at all for me. thumbsup.gif

You can try Skin Plus Malaysia. Look them up on Facebook. Their outlet is located in Ikano Power Centre, IIANM.

As for me, I'm planning to order from Slickwraps some time this month.

i saw their advertising video, they use knife during the installation shocking.gif  shocking.gif

Kind of scared that the knife will leave scratches.

anyone has use their services is welcome to share their experience

Haha. Exactly my thoughts as well. happy.gif

And even if they scratch the MacBook Pro, you probably will not be able to see it since they would have applied the skin over it. rclxub.gif

I rather just have skins like DBrand or SlickWraps which do not require blades.

Btw, just FYI, the price of Skin Plus Malaysia for a full body skin on the MacBook Pro is a whopping RM488 based on the price list I saw at their booth last week. icon_rolleyes.gif

You sure they did not confuse a MacBook Pro with an iPad or Tablet? brows.gif

Here's the price list I saw. RM488 for full body colour skin for MacBook Pro.

Or perhaps after nego or asking them online, it can be much cheaper. hmm.gif

I just tested Innergie PowerGear 45w USB C charger with the base macbook pro 2016 non touch bar, it works but with a caveat..

if you connect the charger directly to the macbook, it will not work, but if you connect to a usb c hub with powerdelivery.. it will work and charge at the rate of 40w.. which i find good enough to charge ..

so now i just leave the hub and innergie powergear in the office.. ori apple charger at home..

i have a single cable docking in the office.. connect the 1 usb c cable..i have hdmi out, usb A hub, and power .. awesome..

Sounds neat. How much did you buy it for, and from where?

When mbp bring kaby lake processor?
*
Probably towards the end of 2017?

Anyway, if Apple cannot improve the battery capacity in the MacBook Pro for the next refresh, battery performance will still be pretty similar to the current range of MacBook Pros.

The thing is, the chassis in the MacBook Pro is just too compact to allow for any large battery capacity to be placed in, unless of course Apple rearranges the Logic Board to make way for a bigger battery or through technological improvements in battery sizes (like how the sheet-style battery was implemented with the MacBook Retina 12-inch).

Now if only they would release a higher watt output version for the MacBook Pros. unsure.gif

Just placed order for the MacBook Pro skin from XtremeSkins UK. biggrin.gif

Attached Image

After comparing a lot with other pre-cut stickers like DBrand and SlickWraps, I believe that XtremeSkins still offers the better overall deal (full body, more customisation options for colour/ on diff areas).

For those of you who want a better typing experience, you guys can consider the Anne Pro wireless bluetooth mechanical keyboard that can be paired with the MacBook Pro too! 👌🏻

Don't need any messy cables. 🤣

Here's some pictures of my setup with custom keys.

lazada.. can't wait for it to reach me haha
Any recommendation for best portable hard disk with usbc native connection?
Samsung T3 is just too expensive lol

Do share your review with us on the MX Master after you have set it up.
After reading user reviews, it seems that the MX Master has bluetooth issues with Macs.

Will await your confirmation. Cheers! thumbsup.gif

Any retail locations one can pick up that keyboard in Malaysia? It looks good. I did a google search and most results show a RGB version which I am not too keen on.
*
Forgot to reply this message earlier. Not many retail locations carry the Anne Pro, probably because of shortage of stocks. This particular model is actually very famous especially after it got popularized by Reddit. devil.gif

You can try to search here under Keyboards section in Trade Zone for some of the sellers. Mine I got from KuzumiTaiga.
