Oh no I missed out that I have been charged annual fee and I continued to use the card.
I have never been able to request waiver thru app in the past and always had to contact the bank.
If they refused to waive the annual fee and I cancelled the card can I get the annual fee pro-rated?
*
i had bad experience with this SCB credit card...
i had annual fee charge me on Feb, and now i working on waiver...
they not allow to waive 100% like other bank instead hv to take up some package like cash advance or balance transfer with rate 5.88%..
it still cheaper than annual fees but why other bank can totally waive and not SCB...
somemore take so much time to call in and follow up with them... doh.gif

i think everyone get trapped by offer by Ringgit Plus... they give you RM800-1k when apply but will take back from annual fee as they not going to waive you..
my wife using it but apply tru normal banking process and get 100% waive.. but mine cant waive.. even my friend also get caught with the same issue ...

going to cancel once i settle my EPP...... every years, i spend RM150k to 200k on my credit card but i cant get waiver..
UOB and RHB direct give me free for life credit card some more is Infinite and World Card but SCB charge me for a lousy Simply Cash Card....... lousy bank...

Oh nice thanks for the information. Did you specifically ask for the AF to be refunded or they just did it for you automatically?
*
I asked if I cancel my card whether the AF will be refunded. SCB replied yes and I asked them to proceed with cancellation.

Huh..I guess they are planning to exit MY market. The new CB structure wasn’t even appealing and they want to charge AF for it..time to cut off and move on..

You and your friend not experienced enough jeh. What 高手s do is take the $800-1k and cancel card after that. Where got people keep until annual fee.

Everybody start as a noob
But first time see such a stupid one lol.

Don’t use it after annual fee is charged. Then call to cancel. They will waive it and give you offer to retain you.

If you use it after annual fee is charged then no choice you have to pay.

this is the only reasonable argument why they are doing all sorts of things.

from raising annual salary to RM96k, and then refuse to waive AF and cut back on rebate.

seldom see SC credit card promoter nowadays

Sign up through Ringgitplus offer, I get charged for annual fees, once get charged, can it be still waived?
first year waive, it is meaning it will get charged after 12 months from initial card issuance?

Finally, done. RIP SCB 2002-2025

First requested for card cancellation in Dec. Took a bit long because waiting for Facebook fraudulent charges to be resolved and missing Nov & Dec cashback which, I think, was due to the change in card number bcos of the FB charges.

Customer for 23 years. Credit limit: RM7500 from start to finish. LOL.

Just use existing cards. All AF-free with no conditions except HLB which has RM15000/yr target.

It's nothing to do with the sign up reward. If they catch you're stuck not able to cancel the card unlike many of us here, you lost your bargaining power.

Some people apply for the sign up reward and cancel immediately after that. Others cancel their card before GST/Annual Fee to bargain for GST sponsorship and Annual Fee waiver - if Std Charted wants to retain us, they will call and make that offer, otherwise they will cancel the card. This has been the case the past few years. Only highly valued customers get automagic GST sponsorship and annual fee waiver.

I finally paid off the last of my Flexipay; and called to cancel the last remaining card I had.

CL was generous (35K), but between the AF, constant perks revision and the CS... enough was enough la, you know?

They told me I would have to wait 5 working days for the Flexipay account to close on its own, but at least now I can do both.

Not sure if they're exiting the market (always a possibility), or they really targeting T15 and T20. Oh wells.

If it is a card that gives AF waiver for first year, then you don't need to pay for the first year. AF is charged first before using for the year. Yes, in your case, you will be charged in the next 12 months which is the second year.

Already in second year? Otherwise if it is with first year waiver then it will be auto-waived.

The card activated on feb/2024. Now it is march/2025, my statement now have annual fee transaction rm250. Is this already count as second year?
because you said AF is charged first before using for the year, so means feb/2024 to jan/2025 should be free right?
