Rolex SA and its subsidiary Montres Tudor SA design, manufacture, distribute and service wristwatches sold under the Rolex and Tudor brands. Founded by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, England in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis, Rolex moved its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland in 1919.

Forbes ranked Rolex No.57 on its 2012 list of the world's most powerful global brands.[3] Rolex is the largest single luxury watch brand, producing about 2,000 watches per day,[1] with estimated 2012 revenues of US$7.4 billion.

Among the company's innovations are:

The first waterproof wristwatch "Oyster", 1926
The first wristwatch with an automatically changing date on the dial (Rolex Datejust ref.4467, 1945)
The first wristwatch case waterproof to 100 m (330 ft) (Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner ref.6204, 1953)
The first wristwatch to show two time zones at once (Rolex GMT Master ref.6542, 1954)
The first wristwatch with an automatically changing day and date on the dial (Rolex Day-Date, 1956)
The first watchmaker to earn chronometer certification for a wristwatch

Tudor

Montres Tudor SA has designed, manufactured and marketed Tudor watches since March 6, 1946. Rolex founder Hans Wildorf conceived of the Tudor Watch Company to create a product for authorized Rolex dealers to sell that offered the reliability and dependability of a Rolex, but at a lower price.

Tudor watches are manufactured by Montres Tudor SA using movements supplied by ETA SA. They are marketed and sold in most countries around the world including the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Mexico, South Africa, many countries in Europe, South Asia, the Middle East and countries in South America, particularly Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela.

Montres Tudor SA discontinued sales of Tudor-branded watches in the United States in 2004, but Tudor returned to the United States market in the summer of 2013.

Consider getting pre-owned ones, for 20k you have a lot of option.
Submariner, SeaDweller, Explorer 1, Explorer 2, Datejust.

Vintage Datejust from 80s starts at 7k. Check out watchlim

You will most definitely not go wrong with Submariner and DJ. While the entire Rolex lineup is iconic, these 2 are without a doubt the foundation of Rolex.

I'm not local.

Was referring to the recent news that popular models are being grabbed up before the impending price hike due to the swiss franc.

It's been a while since I've last been to Germany but recall VAT refund should be in the region of 14%.

Yay finally a Rolex thread! My 1996 15200 can finally be put to rest, as it's replacement Explorer II 216570 will be arriving soon. I'm looking for nice straps, particularly orange in colour for the Explorer II, does anyone of you have experience or know any good strap brands?

I agree. What do you think TS? Afterall Tudor is sold at Rolex outlets as well. I really do find the Black Bay charming. More so than modern Sub. Blasphemy I know.

Kop before current models MSRP increase and GST.

First thoughts: Understated, less bulk and in a way more subtle and refined than the current ceramic bezel models. Fine example of the tool watches Rolex is known for. I can see this as my everyday watch while the GMT2 will be out for more special occasions.

My thoughts were for the 16570 Exp2 (bought pre-owned). The new version is larger case (2mm), topping the Sub/GMT2 so not really sure if it's as subtle as the old model. Nonetheless, it has a striking dial indeed. If I remember correctly only 3 models come in white dials: Exp2, Milgauss and Daytona.

Enjoy your polar!

Pelagos on dial is unnecessary. That's like tattooing your name on your forehead.

Rotor self winding should be removed as well.

I didn't. I felt it looked more balanced. The date window seems bigger, to take the place of the lume I suppose.

Pelagos doesn't appeal to me. The Black Bay, mm. It's all about the bay bout the bay.

I bought GMT Master II recently. Later only I found out that there's a small scratch at the back as following. I never wear the watch. Is it normal? Am thinking of going back for exchange. cry.gif

Hi all,

I bought GMT Master II recently. Later only I found out that there's a small scratch at the back as following. I never wear the watch. Is it normal? Am thinking of going back for exchange.  cry.gif

Not normal definitely. If you bought it from AD, I guess it's a matter of sending it back. How did you miss it in the first place? Looks very obvious from the pictures.

Hi guys.. I am an Oris guy all these while and lately interested in getting a Submariner (pre-owned).

I have been to Amcorp Mall, WingWah, Timepacific and a couple of shops in Time Square.

Are there anymore recommended shop around KV selling pre-owned Rolex? notworthy.gif

I bought DateJust II for myself from Starhill and also Datejust for my wife from Pavillion (very good discount as they were running promotion). One problem though. If I leave the watch idle for about a day, it will stop but for my wife's one, it wont. Is it normal?

What do you mean by winding it to the full? I use it everyday and I only left it alone on Sunday. The same goes to my wife.

just cos u use it everyday doesnt mean it's being wound enough to build up a decent power reserve.
so it can be normal for a watch to stop after idle for one day.
obviously the best way to test is to wind it to full and leave it alone for at least 2 days and see if it can last.

Automatic watches have rotors in them to wind the spring as the watch sways i.e. in a walking motion. So to "charge up" the watch, just replicate the swaying

unwind the crown and turn?
generally just wind it about 40 full rotations.
i believe the manual also says something about this, but only mentions 20-30 turns.
and you cannot overwind it anyway as they have built-in protection.

I think if you are in doubt, you should go to the AD and ask them, they earned your hard earned money and should provide some after sales services to you.

My 2 cents.

According to the sales person if you wear it for 8 hours and leave it idle, it can last for 40hours. So far so good for me.

18k - 20k should get you a fine pre-owned piece. In fact, not far off for the newer ceramic bezel model as well (pre-owned prices). Pre-owned 114060 should be within this range.

I read that the case is made of ceramic so scratching it should be the least of my problems. Thats also one of the reason why im eyeing this piece. No current owners to share their experience? icon_question.gif Saw one shop in Johor Premium Outlet selling this for somewhere around RM13k. That's should be the price range right?

Hello guys, I was lucky enough to get my first rolex last month.

I bought Rolex Explorer, the thing is when I stop wearing it and place it on my table for like around 26-hours, the seconds hand stop moving and time stop. Should I have it checked?

My explorer if I wore from Monday to Friday and keep during weekend, it will have power reserved of about 40 hours i.e. 1 and half day. And will stop on Sunday.

I did not know LYN got a thread on Rolex watches. I was gooling to find out price of second hand Rolex Sky Dweller to check what's the resale value like and this thread was listed in page 2 of the search! Anyway, I can't seem to find any current pre-owned Sky Dweller prices. You guys have any idea on the Sky Dweller resale value?

And here is my contribution to this thread - photo of my Rolex GMT Master Blue Red Pepsi and my son's Blue Black Batman with the protective plastic still on the bezel (managed to secure it in KL just before GST implemented).

I have also posted more photos at one of my blogs (links below) and even articles relating to my hunt for my son's Rolex GMT Master II and my new Limited Edition Bell & Ross at my main blog (you will find the relevant links in the posts below):

Click here to my blog to see more photos of my GMT Pepsi and my son's GMT Master II Batman.

Click here to my blog to see my new Bell & Ross Limited Edition GMT (only 50 pieces on earth) side by side with my Rolex GMT Master Pepsi and GMT Master II Batman.

What's wrong with black? The BLNR isn't as great in person than in photos. I don't think its worthwhile taking the hit just for the colour. Go see the BLNR first la.

I was really in love with BLNR, but in person side by side, easily the black one trumps it IMO. Less flashy, subtle, and the green GMT hand is just nice and balanced.

Hey guys;

I did some searching online & came across a few good places to buy/sell Rolex watches around Klang Valley area;

1: Wing Wah Watch (SS 14)
2: Total Watch Gallery (Amcorp Mall)
3: Milan Classic (Cheras)
4: WatchClub (Publika @ Solaris Dutamas)
5: Time Pacific (Sungei Wang Plaza, 50250 Kuala Lumpur)

I got it from the following link:
http://www.funnymalaysia.net/top-5-luxury-...ps-in-malaysia/

Would appreciate if anyone in here do know of any other good stores/dealers where we can buy/sell/trade genuine Rolex watches.

Wow, didn't realize there was a Rolex/Tudor thread. As for Sub prices; if not mistaken, RM25k for Sub and RM29k for Sub Date. Frankly speaking, prices are quite high today.

Under natural sunlight... (If the direct sunlight falls onto the dial of this Rolex, there would be some kind of a glowing radiance emitted from the dial itself; because the dial actually has micro groove-patterns etched onto the surface; otherwise, the dial appears completely smooth...)

Have decided to let this go; am playing with the idea of a 16610 instead. Call it silly, but I do prefer a Sub with green lume over blue. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Agree, the bracelet is much nicer. Much, much nicer. I don't like the blue lume, and the lugs. Ok with Maxi dial, but maybe not necessary.

ck77 so your pick would be 116610 over 16610?

ck77 I do like the 14060 (have similar issues with 114060); but... as much as I don't absolutely need the date, it is a very nice to have! These are confusing times... with the falling RM, maybe I just get my grail watch and heck it.

Everdying I think... once you live with it for a week, you may quickly get used to it.

Date, checked. New bracelet, checked. Not every one down the street wearing it, checked.

Sumo? I feel it is much fatter. And it doesn't wear anywhere as nice as the Sub.

And I have to agree to an extent, that the crown can be "blinding". Other people react differently to you. Like when I went in to ADs with the Hulk, super layan and willing to take out some pieces that are clearly (way) out of my budget to look see.

Sub ok ok. If I go in with my speedy, little attention (not that this is an issue for me).

^I doubt Everest straps are meant to fit vintage DJ. Any other generic strap would be ok e.g. Hirsch, Hadley Roma etc as long as the lug width is correct.

Hi;

Does anyone in here knows how to open/unscrew the rear part of a Rolex's case? (I would like to open the watch to check/inspect the movement; planning to purchase another Rolex, so I would like to check/inspect the movement.) I recall that there is such a tool, but I don't know what's the name of the tool, & where can I get it (preferably in KL/Klang Valley area)...

hi, I have checked with few Rolex shops and I found that the prices for a same model (sub date) can be varied by as much as 4k between Rolex Boutique and The Hour Glass.

The reason given for the difference is that boutiques are selling at premium price, while other shops like the hour glass sell at retail price.

Does anyone know if there is difference in the watch spec / material for premium and retail price?

price should be standardized.
take note of the retail prices at both sides, then forward a complain to rolex if got discrepancy.

Boutique should not be selling at premium. Also unlikely you will get any discounts from there. However, I know some pieces are being sold for a premium by most, if not all, ADs -- pieces like BLNR and Hulk specifically.

i dont think there's an actual rolex boutique, as in handled by rolex staff.
they're all handled by different dealers even the so-called boutiques.
interesting that rolex doesn't manage the dealers properly.

Maybe I was mistaken, but isn't the boutique at Starhill facing outwards with the glass lift Rolex's own boutique?

i got the contact number of lot 10, klcc. and starhill from rolex website.

i was told that the price is higher than others because they are selling at premium while material and spec etc are exactly the same.

they cant tell why selling at premium while no difference in the watches, this is what confused me because i always think the price is controlled and standardized and no discount for sport models.

i guess typical 'prices vary due to which places have more water fish'.
and we know klcc has more traffic and with probably greater spending power / water fishes also due to more tourists.

Any grey import is cheaper than AD. Still can get 2-3% if you are lucky.

JPSB ah, okay. So there really is no independent Rolex store, then. Only a service center it seems.

Anyway, prices are supposed to be controlled, but clearly they are not. Fluctuates on demand and supply. yktan83 what model are you looking for, exactly?

Don't know about Malaysia but in some countries the manufacturer can only suggest a MSRP and cannot dictate retail prices or they risk flaunting anti-monopoly / anti-trust laws. So there must be some leeway in terms of discount.

Just speaking in general of course, perhaps someone can advise if this is applicable to the watch retail segment.

X-posted from another thread; just a heads up for those who are keen -- BB black already in most ADs. THG will supposedly have an event this Fri at Gardens and this will be unveiled there. Others already have it on display.

RM12.7k and most do not offer any discounts. Is possible to squeeze 5% though.

It seem to me that the price of luxury watches has increased. I was looking around MilanClassic for example & realized that the prices of their luxury watches has all been increased by an extra MYR 1k... (Not sure what's the implication; perhaps it's because of our weakening MYR I reckon...)

Finally I drove over to MilanClassic shop @ Berjaya Times Square to try to sell my Rolex to them, but I didn't feel satisfied by the fact that only the clerks/secretaries was present, & they had to call up the boss (I presumed) for the price quotation, & they just mentioned my Rolex model code to the boss over the phone that's all (mentioned the wrong model code 16233 as well; because mine is the more expensive 16234 model); finally I didn't received a reasonable price quotation at all; so I cannot agree to sell to MilanClassic (feel like they are trying to rip me off). I also didn't liked it when my Rolex was all soiled with fingerprints after that (give me the impression that they are not careful or with the cannot be bothered attitude), & they also didn't put everything nicely/properly back into my Rolex box as things were originally nicely presented.

Nevermind, I went over to JW Luxury nearby to see how...; I saw some guys sitting in there (big size people indeed); they were talking away in Cantonese language (some client/customer discussion I presume); they all gave me that serious (what you want?) look when I stepped into the shop; but finally, the principle/boss of the shop turned out quite okay... He gave me a more reasonable price quotation for my watch (which I didn't want to accept yet...), but at least he placed my watch back into the box more nicely/properly; leaving behind less fingerprints on the watch as well...

Finally, there wasn't enough time for me to go check out CYT Watch & Total Watch Gallery nearby as well (because it was already closing time); but I would check them out & see how...

hi! another one who doesnt like milan classic biggrin.gif
but yea, in general its due to the currency increase...which actually makes it a better time to sell to international market.
its very rare to get a good price via trade-in in most places here, as they obviously still need to make money, can be up to a couple K or more.
so yea, if ur in no hurry...just sell it urself...better yet just post on international watch sites.

I agree that one can sell for higher price in places like eBay & mudah.my for instance, compare to selling it to the luxury watch dealer here in MSIA (which they clearly want to make significant profit per watch)... However, one faces the risk of being conned/scammed (exposed to fraud) when selling/advertising online...; on the other hand, selling to the dealer (by going to their shop) such as MilanClassic or WingWahWatch is guarantied to be safe.

Well, anyway I paid a visit to Total Watch Gallery & CYT Watch in Berjaya Times Square earlier today...; To be fair, the boss of Total Watch was a nice person (yesterday I went there but they were closing); so today the boss took a close look at my Rolex & gave me quite a reasonable quotation (he gave a call to his other business partner who wasn't present today to confirm the price). After that, I visited CYT Watch + another 3 more luxury watch dealers (with names I couldn't really remember; but I believe it was "Swiss Time/Swiss Hour Watches", "Wah Sing Gallery", & another luxury watch shop with a Chinese name; all located on the same 6th level of Times Square); so far everything was more positive today, & some of the dealers were somewhat professional/meticulous with my watch. (The dealer of one shop forgot to remove the extra links he added to my Rolex's Jubilee Bracelet during the inspection process; I also didn't know anything until I checked my watch later & realized that it is suddenly very loose on my wrist; I still have my extra Jubilee links in my box, which I removed last time...) biggrin.gif

Thanks.

If you are referring to Berjaya Times Square, then all of it (luxury watch shops) are located on the 6th floor it seems (I must have already checked them all out smile.gif)...

I would give CYT a LIKED. both ampang park & BTS outlet are having good customer service even i am not buying anything. Price quoted for pre-owned is reasonable but not the lowest of course. I will definitely pay them a visit if i m serious to get one ROLLIE next.

well, the last 3 pieces i sold were all overseas...close to rm50k value...and only posted on the watchuseek.com forum.
it was on local market for quite awhile until the currency shot up, so making the overseas market more tempting.
easily got about 10% extra after covering paypal fees of 4.4% commision and the shipping which was only rm100 or so each.

milanclassic in BTS got watches also.
i walked in once to see a speedmaster, totally misrepresented in the pics they posted on their website.
on the website said good condition etc, all watches with 1-yr warranty etc.
walked in, see the hands got corrosion, dial got corrosion, then they said no warranty.
i never walked into milan classic ever again after that.

well, the last 3 pieces i sold were all overseas...close to rm50k value...and only posted on the watchuseek.com forum.
it was on local market for quite awhile until the currency shot up, so making the overseas market more tempting.
easily got about 10% extra after covering paypal fees of 4.4% commision and the shipping which was only rm100 or so each.
*
Then that is great for you. icon_rolleyes.gif

For me personally, I feel skeptical/uneasy to deal via PayPal... I have heard about sellers been abused by buyers (e.g. buyers purposely trying to abuse sellers by filing a claim against seller to PayPal about item un-received, & then claimed for a full refund from PayPal; which the buyers always win this case 99% of the time...) (Also what IF the buyer files a claim against the seller that the item was not as described, & then returns the buyer a fake/replica/clone version of the genuine watch...?) (PayPal also have policies in place to protect the buyer for items "claimed as replica"; how's the seller going to protect himself if his item was originally genuine?) All in all, PayPal seems to have policies in place to protect the buyer from matters like this (& some buyers are known to take advantage of PayPal's "buyer's protection" policy against the seller to claim back refund)...

For mudah.my; I was also almost been scammed by a Nigerian buyer (so cunning & real as to be able to send me professional e-mails from PayPal (PayPal clone e-mails); PayPal formally notifying me that the buyer's money will be released into my account once the shipping agent company has come over to my address to collect the buyer's item... (It was a scam from this Nigerian buyer that I nearly fall into; because once the item has been collected from me, it will be "bye bye" forever...; there would be no way to get it back; & all the fake phone numbers & fake e-mail address will no longer be in service...)

So because of this, I would rather sell my Rolex to the physical dealer shops over here for less (because I can be rest assured that there would be no more troubles/disputes & I will definitely receive my payment - straightforward & guaranteed)...

Maybe it is "Swiss Time Watches/Swiss Hour Watches" something; I'm not very certain too...

That's unfortunate...

Because I like milanclassic for their exquisite variety of luxury watches actually (that the other dealers does not have)...; such as the following one (which I am targeting to get)...; drool.gif

Price just gone up by extra MYR1k just not long ago...

Took a taxi from Shenzhen border to HK Wanchai. Taxi driver rocking an Explorer II. Bought some food @ HKIA, cashier rocking Submariner no-date.

Yup, feel pretty good about my vintage 16014.

Today I went to the Rolex service center in Menara Dion to have my Rolex timepiece verified (because it was for my buyer actually); as I sat in there for about an hour, I saw quite a handful of customers coming in & out (one was probably wearing a MYR90K+ piece); but most interestingly was a customer who looked to be a European man; I just saw him requesting for a receipt for his Rolex watch, but Rolex SC claimed that his Rolex is a fake; then the customer requested for more details, & the Rolex technician came out to explain why his Rolex is not a genuine/original one; the European man looked puzzled & worried, but it seems that Rolex SC couldn't do anything about it (perhaps because the Rolex watch does not even have a serial number as I heard); the European man said that he got the watch from Paris... (I am not certain what is going on, but it was certainly quite an eye-opener for a Rolex 1st timer like me anyway.)

Thankfully my Rolex watch is claimed by the Rolex SC to be 100% genuine/original (the verification process took about half-an-hour to complete; my buyer paid for the fee 1st); he brought the watch from me immediately after that (& I returned him the verification fee). This is my very 1st time COD with a customer & moreover it was for a Rolex watch.

Rolex SC did asked whether the box also needs to be verified for authenticity as well, but my buyer only wanted the watch verified.

It was an interesting experience for me.

maybe there was a possibility the serial number was removed? some grey market do that so it cannot be traced back to original shop.
unless rolex opened up and then said his movement was also fake, then that customer cannot argue anymore.

I heard the Rolex SC stating that "they do not issue customers receipt for their watch because they are a SC & not a retailer"; but the customer kept insisting it seems, but the Rolex SC was firm about it; anyway they offered to "trace" the Serial-Number of that customer's Rolex watch, but it turned out later that the customer's watch was deemed to be not genuine/original (it didn't have a SN + numerous other tell tale signs that it is definitely not genuine; as I heard). From the looks of it, maybe the customer is trying to sell the watch but his buyer is requesting for a receipt, or maybe the customer brought a "fake" Rolex watch without knowing (& got a nasty surprise at the Rolex SC)... (The customer went on to query about advance investigation methods I was just hearing lol...)

ya, real or fake box can tell difference...enough links out there to read.
since sometimes sellers only get the watch piece itself from their sources...and u got buyers who want 'full set'...so some sellers are willing to dupe just to get more money as its a 'full set'.

The answer is "yes". (My buyer was the one who registered for the verification process @ SC, & he told me that I only needed to pay him MYR80 for it no matter what the actual cost of verification @ menara dion may cost; which I think could easily cost more than RM80...)

That's quite a lot more than I expected. smile.gif (Initially my buyer wanted to verify at a place in Amcorp Mall for RM80, which I think could be @ Total Watch Gallery, but decided to do it @ Menera Dion finally...)

When I walked into few luxury watch shops @ Berjaya Times Square 6th floor (with the interest to sell my watch); they performed inspection (for price quotation) without charging me anything though...

hi guys,

i have an old 16233 belongs to my late father. he bought it like more than 10 years ago and never send it in for servicing. i send it to RSC in Singapore and they called, the service charge is SGD1500! Is that normal or RSC KL charge the same? I heard the charges pretty much the same around the world.

Thanks team.

Prices should be roughly similar around the world, although I've heard that it IS cheaper in some places (like Taiwan). Also, watches older than 8 years will likely have higher service charges (as is the case with Omega, I've not sent any old Rolexes in for a service before).

Standard servicing for a Sub goes from RM2.1k and upwards, depending on how much work needs to be done.

Making the usual mistakes; honestly - just buy what you like. How do you know what you like? Easy. Walk into any Rolex AD and browse the watches they have on display. Datejust? Explorer? Submariner? Sky Dweller? Yacht Master? Nobody knows what you like, only you.

Your budget allows you to buy some models brand new, so I think it is worth your time stepping into a store to find out more.

I intend to buy a rolex. Can u please make recommendation as regards to the model that I should look for, whether worth it to buy preowned? (budget between rm10,000 to rm30,000). Thank you.

Found the following useful tips (I edited some) from another fora,

1. Think for yoruself and decide
2. Any 2 tones or gold Rolex is ridiculous if you are below 50 yo
3. Don't buy a Rolex just because it is a Rolex
4. Buy what you like
5. Just buy a pre-owned 16600 Sea Dweller and live happily ever after
6. Disregard 2-6 and refer back to 1

the usual suspects.

gmt - black or blue
submariner - date, black or green
milgauss

you can buy what you like but these are the popular ones. and usually popular ones fits most ppl's criteria and popularity. so you don't get "yuck" why you buy that watch. easier to sell later, if you need money.

Era has changed. Preloved TT is now sought after and selling fast to all Yuppies.

You can see this trend now in HKG & SG. Almost Tom Dick Harry has a TT.

Hi guys, I'll only have another 3 days in KL. would be great help if anyone could help.

I'm looking at either the new oyster perpetual 39mm (114300) or the oyster perpetual explorer (214270) and would like to know where to get them at a good price.

so far i've only visited the Rolex shop in BSC and it offers only a 5% discount

Might want to consider japan as RM did not depreciate against the yen as much. Tourists shopping at big departmental stores get 5% off and tax free shopping is a breeze. I calculated that can probably get a 116610ln slightly below 30k. Or maybe even less.

Brand new. I was in Osaka/Kyoto area in Dec, but aiyo that time still looking at Tudors/Omega. I'm pretty sure I saw a few SubCs there and even Hulk at some departmental stores. Now set on getting either the Batman/ SubC Date. But yeah it is a hassle, no guarantees to fly there just for it.

I saw a silver dial in WatchClub @ Amcorp Mall. asking rm6,500

Am sad to know 6694 price has gone up so much. Even in SG, is selling SGD2,000 level today.

Still hunting down a champagne dial 6694

6694 bought locally.

Tudor bought at my own risk and am glad it is legit. I bought from direct owner in US. He has great feedback in WUS.

frostfrench leave your contact details with an SA and ask that they get back to you. Probably easier that way, unless you are in a hurry to get it. I was at BSC recently and did not see these, Nu Sentral did not have them as well.

Just read about Germany ADs already started their annual price increase for all their models, most likely Worldwide ADs will start raising soon as well, so if possible get yours asap.

Most likely Rolex will tell you that the watch is out of stock as well but actually the watch might be on hold and be on sale again after the price increase, but still. Try your luck and ask around

My parents just recently back from Japan vacation, snap many watches photos. Only saw 1 6694. After currency conversion, it shows RM 7.8K. Grey dial.

Those in Malaysia selling 6694, almost 90% I saw they selling is without original bracelet. The bracelet alone can sell around 1K to 1.5K depends on conditions. For newbie hunting vintage watches such as 6694 and so on. Just beware of Frankenstein watch. Many eBay selling with custom dial, leather strap only and fake acrylic glass.

16610 had become ultra rare in Japan too. Mostly all photos show newer 116610 and above for sale.

Do more homework will reduce the risk for sure but still risky. For local direct owner purchase, can oways verify at RSC for a fee.

If lazy to do this, pay premium at watch shop and in return you get their in-house warranty.

No matter what you do, do not change the dial. Vintage watch the most important part is the dial. If the acrylic glass minor scratches, use Cape Cod Polishing Cloths and slowly buff away in circular movement.

New buy blush.gif

Got it from a member here. Have to say I prefer this over the Red as it's much more easier to match around with clothing and not too flashy.

I think that's enough watches for this year

What I don't like about the watch though is the lack of an AR, makes it a little hard to see the time at certain angles and under the sun.

Thanks mate

I'd rather not disclose the amount as it's a little personal for me (i know, i'm crazy)
But the price is alright, not too expensive and not too cheap either, just right for a 2nd hand watch.

Black Bay Blue doesn't hold its value much, I got it because I preferred this over the red one

Actually, I like vintage over a new piece simply because it has character.. because as much money that you have, you can't walk into a Rolex boutique and buy a vintage Rolex, like one with a plastic crystal, or the Sub reds, cause they don't make it anymore.

These days, Rolex is such a mass produced luxury good, kinda loses some of the luster around it. I'm more attracted to a Sub red, rather than the latest Sub with ceramic bezel.

But no thanks. The diver I want is Fifty Fathoms, not the Sub. Datejust > Sub.
Hell, I'd choose a GMT Master II over a Sub.

Seems like Tudor is trying a little too hard now, a bit too much.

I read that this BB will be bigger in size + using their in-house mov.

oh no... just notice the bronze version - case size is 43mm, the lug size is 23mm.

while the standard version for 2016 is using rivetted bracelet... with inhouse movement and cosc. I think the price is going to jack up then. no more ROSE on the dial.. showing the standard TUDOR shield.

i dont understand the new air king dial.
really spoils it with the minute markings of 5 / 10 / 20 intermixed with 3 / 6 / 9.
should have just gone all out and done like a flieger B dial...then again that would probably open up another whole can of controversy tongue.gif

i wouldnt call those under-rated.
more like forever in the spotlight of the sub.
u can throw almost any model and ppl will call it under-rated...like air king, explorer I, sea dweller etc.

but if really really under-rated...i guess the cellini range.
