Need advice.
Can women wear submariner? I came across a good deal for a preown black submariner. Thinking about getting it for my wife. How to authenticate though? Sending it for a service at RSC is the best and only option right? This post has been edited by teongpeng: Aug 29 2016, 07:15 PM |

QUOTE(kenji1903 @ Sep 5 2016, 11:08 AM) can... saw a lady wearing a tt blue sub... the week after that an ap diver End up the wife let me use it first, until next year when i intend to get the Omega Planet Ocean 39.5mm (not sure consider this upgrade or downgrade of the sub haha)the sub looks pretty good also QUOTE(Everdying @ Sep 5 2016, 11:52 AM) u want to service or authenticate 1st? I would like to authenticate it as a priority ofcourse, and since the watch is 6 years old, i thought might as well service it sekali...but the price is a real put off lo.there is obviously a difference. authenticate is only rm200+. service at that price im guessing its a vintage piece already. talking about ur wife? Anyway, what do you guys think about regularly servicing the watch at 5 year interval...got necessary or not...the price mahal weiii |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Sep 5 2016, 01:44 PM) 6yrs old and rm3k+ for service? thats abit too much. Bring it on la.... lolex vs omega arguments are always entertaining. only service when its needed, no need for preventive maintenance etc. a sub is a downgrade on ur character. k time to hide from the lolex fanbois |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Nov 28 2016, 09:48 PM) I am a huge fan of Rolex watches. Their quality control is second to none. They may not be the most expensive watch brand but they sure are one of the best in terms of robustness, ease of serviceability and evergreen designs. Do u feel bothered to purchase that daydate urgently now that our currency have dropped significantly yet they are still selling at 'old' price in malaysia? HeheI own a Datejust, Submariner and Daytona. Am planning to add a Day-Date 40 in the future once the issues with the new movements have been ironed out. |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Nov 30 2016, 11:43 AM) Edit - there is definately a trend towards two tone and precious metal Rolex in western countries at the moment. Ownership of DJ41 and DD40 which is only available in two tone and precious metal at the moment is quite high among 20-30 year old Rolex collectors in other countries. Good to hear that! Ive a 2 tone TOG that i seldom wear, feels like a showoff wannabe whenever i put it on. |

QUOTE(shankar_dass93 @ Dec 10 2016, 08:17 AM) If you feel its like a showoff, then why did you but it ? It was inherited bro.Always remember this, wear/use whatever you bought happily without worrying about what others have to say. If you're going to be worried of how people judge you, then life is going to be hard. YOLO, "You Only Live Once' so why worries about others ? |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Dec 3 2016, 07:47 PM) Am currently bored and a little tipsy on a slow Saturday night. One too many glasses of wine. Lol. Are they your watches? So, am doing a little Rolex vs Omega comparison. Rolex Datejust vs Omega Aqua Terra 8500 [attachmentid=8196939] Rolex Submariner vs Omega Seamaster GMT [attachmentid=8196941] Rolex Daytona vs Omega Speedmaster Professional [attachmentid=8196942] My thoughts. Rolex is more refined. The dial looks better and the finishing looks more jewelry like. Omega is more tool like and the finishing on the case and bracelet are a bit more muted. Rolex is a piece of jewelry and the 904l steel does look more grayish and looks almost like Grade 5 titanium in color when compared to the steel that Omega and other manufacturers are using. Omega steel looks brighter and more steel like. Thank you for reading through my long winded post. Pictures are old pictures on my phone as I am too tipsy to take any new pictures. I actually have one watch from each of of those pics. Hehe. Im more attracted to omega lately because of its newer movement and also because its half the price of the rolex. |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Dec 10 2016, 11:08 AM) Yup. They are my watches. They are a part of my 8 watch collection. How do u categorize your collection and how do u decide on what to add to it? Omega is ok but I think I am satisfied with the Omega's I have now. I am now more into Rolex as they are still underpriced compared to the other high end stuff. Rolex is one of the few true in-house manufacturers whom even smelt their own gold and platinum that are still affordable. I hedge and bought up Omega in the late 00's to early 10's before they increase their prices drastically. Now I think it's time to hop over to the Rolex wagon as they are still somewhat undervalued. Just my two cents. Which rolex are u looking at next? Kinda unsure where my own collection is heading lol. |

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Dec 10 2016, 11:31 AM) I was going for a Rolex vs Omega theme. Now that it is completed, I am selling one of my other piece and bringing in an AP ROO that my friend is selling due to it not getting any wrist time. Cerita a bit la...why 8? Is there a theme u r going for? What motivates u in that decisionThen, I would probably get rid of the final piece that is not Rolex or Omega and get a Day Date as the final watch to complete my 8 watch collection. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Dec 10 2016, 11:37 AM) i dont like the newer movements from both...me and quick-set hour movements dont get along. Haha yeah i understand the feeling of changing dates. I finally understand the allure of no-date watches after getting the speedy pro. considering i rotate pieces, and i dont own a watch winder...sometimes when it comes to put one on...i have to wind the crown like 30-40+ times to set the date. one of the main reasons i dont keep anymore quick-set hour pieces. As for the quickset hour vs regular date setting, that depends on individual preferance liau. By the way, do invest in a watch winder la. I got one recently and really does make my life easier. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Dec 10 2016, 12:02 PM) for me is practicality. I cant tell what it is with quick set hour, but my heart feels happy while winding it. Really. Lol. Like...so puas. Thats why i said, this type of thing is subjective. Maybe i find it easier than adjusting the minutes hand to move the hour hand, i dont know. say u dont wear for 2 weeks, to set the date again using quick-set hour is about 50 turns of the crown...roughly 3-4 turns to cycle thru 24hrs... x14. compared to around 7(?) only with regular date. unless its the SM300 tribute with no-date...then ok im not sure what the fascination is with quick-set hour...seems every new movement is going that path...perhaps its the manufacturers idea of offering something new so they can charge more compared to what its worth. like they think quick-set date is antiquated and best left to entry lvl movements now...even tho all the classic vintage movements are quick-set date and up to the early 00s. I didnt know most manufacturers are going this direction though, maybe it could be easier to make or effect the size and parts of the movement? Technical reasons perhaps?
