WP 808? Yes please.

Nokia still has big plans for their expanding Lumia line of Windows Phones this year with the next big reveal expected later this summer. That subsequent device is expected to be the ‘EOS’, an internal testing name that seems to refer to the Greek goddess of dawn (and not Canon’s brand of cameras).

The EOS is anticipated as the first 41MP camera Windows Phone, based off of the PureView 808 Symbian device, which was released in early 2012. Ever since that Symbian phone was revealed, a device literally in the making for years, people have wondered when it will transfer over to Nokia’s new darling, Windows Phone.

Starting this past February, reports of a “summer release” began to make the rounds and that now seems to be the case.

What makes EOS so important is that it stands to be the first truly groundbreaking Windows Phone hardware that is miles beyond what other OEMs are doing. Currently the Lumia 92x is garnering high praises from both reviewers and consumers with its high end, unique OIS camera, which is itself revolutionary. But the promise of an oversampled 41MP camera phone with the Lumia hardware and Windows Phone OS is drool worthy.

We’ve been able to confirm a few tidbits about this upcoming Windows Phone, which we will reveal here for the first time. We’re still going to file this under ‘rumor’ only because this isn’t our first-hand account of the device, but rather comes by way of numerous trusted sources whom we know and who have seen the device.

For one, the phone at AT&T reportedly has the codename ‘Elvis’. No, we have no idea why it is called that, but this is what we are hearing. (Note that is not a public name, but rather used internally for testing reference and to mask the device’s model number.)

nope, not really chasing best camera phone right now, fast and snappy enough for HTC one good enough for me.

quality wise is another story.

I still can't imagine what Nokia will achieve if they turned to Android. All this in an Android phone, Nokia Apps and tidbits added to the OS, oh my they have a chance at beating HTC then. Still happy with my Lumia on WP8 though. Truly silk and buttery smooth.

yeah, the UI needs major revamp. Why WP7 more options than WP8? We need like the ProShot. Only this time in video, manual exposure/focus lock/manual focus. You know, all that stuff. It'll be the smartphone of the year again by Nokia!!!

WP8 will always be the one that's holding back Nokia. Unless 8.1 brings WP closer to WinRT in terms of functionality and API, Nokia will always be held back.

Good thing Nokia didn't agree to sell the smartphone division to MSFT. Otherwise, it's as good as gone.

Finally~ 909 is way better than 1020 numbering... Can't wait, few more days only^^ ~Some said that 909 eventually will go for PV phase 3 (since "zoom" was so heavily advertised) Hopefully it will get Phase 1 (judging by the camera bump) + Phase 2 + Phase 3 treatment, and NOT Phase 1 + Phase 3

Among wishlist for this (as per rumours) is the Win 8 GDR3 update so that it introduces 1080p screen and quad core + battery optimizations.
Can't wait for the reviews.

Battery life will be improved on the upcoming Amber update for Nokia devices (However not sure about the 9 series).

Will definitely upgrade to 1020 once the price is affordable for me... Lumia 920 still serves me perfect...
Not an App-whore who whine for "no this app and no that app"...
Feels like some smartphone users are actually App Collectors who only want to show off how many apps they can install and practically not even opening the app once a month!
But of course, I just hope Microsoft can keep up their effort in pushing WP instead of leaving all the effort to Nokia alone.
HTC and Samsung practically doing nothing for the WP ecosystem but whining on low market in WP...

I am tempted...but then I remember that 1020 does not have much improvement besides the camera. Still the same resolution (I think) and CPU. As my 920 is still only barely 7 mths old, I will go for the next literation of the 1020

I will definitely pick this up, even after switching from L920 to One recently. Finally a worthy pocket shooter.

But the main selling and strength is the camera... It's the actual PureView phase.
The Phase 1 PureView, it's something that no other smartphone can offer, not even those compact digital camera. Coupled with OIS, it'll be even better. OIS technology, others are already offer such technology, but PureView Phase 1, giving 38MP output and pixel oversampling for lossless zoom, it's something that no other able to offer.

If you own the 808 and have tried the 38MP file, it's just amazing.
While the pixel oversampling, when using PureView 3MP mode, you can zoom until the maximum and still get very clear details, comparing with other smartphone when zoom, it's like low resolution CCTV footage.

Even it have an improvement for the camera, it should be not too much margin with out Lumia 920.

Our Lumia 920 also should have some positive adjustment soon as we received Amber update as well

one thing that is bugging me regarding this camera grip, will it cover the speakers and block em? If the speakers are placed similar to L920, then I think the speakers are being blocked...
