![]() Nokia still has big plans for their expanding Lumia line of Windows Phones this year with the next big reveal expected later this summer. That subsequent device is expected to be the ‘EOS’, an internal testing name that seems to refer to the Greek goddess of dawn (and not Canon’s brand of cameras). The EOS is anticipated as the first 41MP camera Windows Phone, based off of the PureView 808 Symbian device, which was released in early 2012. Ever since that Symbian phone was revealed, a device literally in the making for years, people have wondered when it will transfer over to Nokia’s new darling, Windows Phone. Starting this past February, reports of a “summer release” began to make the rounds and that now seems to be the case. What makes EOS so important is that it stands to be the first truly groundbreaking Windows Phone hardware that is miles beyond what other OEMs are doing. Currently the Lumia 92x is garnering high praises from both reviewers and consumers with its high end, unique OIS camera, which is itself revolutionary. But the promise of an oversampled 41MP camera phone with the Lumia hardware and Windows Phone OS is drool worthy. 'Elvis' has entered the AT&T building We’ve been able to confirm a few tidbits about this upcoming Windows Phone, which we will reveal here for the first time. We’re still going to file this under ‘rumor’ only because this isn’t our first-hand account of the device, but rather comes by way of numerous trusted sources whom we know and who have seen the device. For one, the phone at AT&T reportedly has the codename ‘Elvis’. No, we have no idea why it is called that, but this is what we are hearing. (Note that is not a public name, but rather used internally for testing reference and to mask the device’s model number.) Next up, we’ll just give you some bullet point specifications: QUOTE 41 MP camera with Xenon flash Nokia Pro Camera 32 GB internal OLED Screen 768X1280 WP8 V 8.0.10322.71 FM radio Flip to silence Polycarbonate body Takes a 35 MP picture and a 5 MP picture at the same time one to save one to share Comes in yellow No SD card About 1 mm thinner than Lumia 920 with a big camera hump No visible OS changes s0s @ http://m.wpcentral.com/nokia-eos-41mp-pure..._medium=twitter |

I still can't imagine what Nokia will achieve if they turned to Android. All this in an Android phone, Nokia Apps and tidbits added to the OS, oh my they have a chance at beating HTC then. Still happy with my Lumia on WP8 though. Truly silk and buttery smooth.

I love making slow mo videos!!if got slow mo video capturing lagi bagus , more fun to play yeah, the UI needs major revamp. Why WP7 more options than WP8? We need like the ProShot. Only this time in video, manual exposure/focus lock/manual focus. You know, all that stuff. It'll be the smartphone of the year again by Nokia!!! |

QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Jun 17 2013, 04:12 PM) WP8 UI too damn simple and kinda hard and inappropriate. Inappropriate ah? Don't think so ler, still depends on the end users. lets wait for the upcoming event! QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Jun 20 2013, 08:44 PM) much more slimmer! I am worried too! with all those restrictions in WP, can Nokia handle it?Can't wait, really. 3 more weeks and counting down. I just hope the WP8 won't be the falloff for the 41MP. but I think Microsoft now is working closer with Nokia. but from the leaked shots, I still see no sign of stereo recording. and what a lazy back design Nokia made (but the front was awesome NOKIA logo now re-place in center!) but hey, 41megapixel ftw. Finally~ 909 is way better than 1020 numbering... Can't wait, few more days only^^ ~Some said that 909 eventually will go for PV phase 3 (since "zoom" was so heavily advertised) Hopefully it will get Phase 1 (judging by the camera bump) + Phase 2 + Phase 3 treatment, and NOT Phase 1 + Phase 3

Among wishlist for this (as per rumours) is the Win 8 GDR3 update so that it introduces 1080p screen and quad core + battery optimizations.
Can't wait for the reviews. |

Battery life will be improved on the upcoming Amber update for Nokia devices (However not sure about the 9 series). Can't wait for the reviews. QUOTE Other improvements noted in the Amber update include altering the temperature of photos, focus times, sharpness when zooming and viewing photos in the Pictures Hub, battery life, glance screen and more. It hasn't been confirmed if the Bluetooth improvements will be hitting the Lumia 92x range of Windows Phones, though we can't imagine Nokia leaving out its premium range of customers. QUOTE(ashdwoers @ Jul 9 2013, 10:50 PM) Will definitely upgrade to 1020 once the price is affordable for me... Lumia 920 still serves me perfect...Not an App-whore who whine for "no this app and no that app"... Feels like some smartphone users are actually App Collectors who only want to show off how many apps they can install and practically not even opening the app once a month! But of course, I just hope Microsoft can keep up their effort in pushing WP instead of leaving all the effort to Nokia alone. HTC and Samsung practically doing nothing for the WP ecosystem but whining on low market in WP... Please la.. they didn't put any effort and expect their phone can compete sales with Nokia? |

I am tempted...but then I remember that 1020 does not have much improvement besides the camera. Still the same resolution (I think) and CPU. As my 920 is still only barely 7 mths old, I will go for the next literation of the 1020

It's the actual PureView phase. The Phase 1 PureView, it's something that no other smartphone can offer, not even those compact digital camera. Coupled with OIS, it'll be even better. OIS technology, others are already offer such technology, but PureView Phase 1, giving 38MP output and pixel oversampling for lossless zoom, it's something that no other able to offer. If you own the 808 and have tried the 38MP file, it's just amazing. While the pixel oversampling, when using PureView 3MP mode, you can zoom until the maximum and still get very clear details, comparing with other smartphone when zoom, it's like low resolution CCTV footage. ![]() This post has been edited by Andy214: Jul 10 2013, 02:53 PM |

It had 6 lens at the camera (same as Lumia 925), OIS and BSI added.
Later Amber update may come with ISO 3200 as well. Touchscreen change to AMOLED instead of IPS on Lumia 920. http://www.wpcentral.com/full-specs-nokia-...gb-ram-and-more |

actually i prefer AMOLED...the black color on screen is so dark tat u can't really differentiate it compared to the bezel... ^^
but its a personal preference though on a sidenote i think AMOLED do make ur pictures look more colorful than it actually is, coz my 808 Pureview's pics always look less colorful n vibrant when transferred to my comp... |

QUOTE(kuroneko0509 @ Jul 11 2013, 03:06 PM) AMOLED, slightly saturated, less battery consumption.IPS, more accurate color reproduction. Both works well for me actually, if your monitor didn't calibrated correctly chances you will see dull colours on ur monitor. |

Won't be surprised if it's the same snapdragon in 920.
In the interview, Elop says there's going to be another launch later this year. 920 successor? |

I'm more interested in what will the future flagship holds.
Nokia now can shrink down the pureview tech and add in the floating lense from 920. What will they do for the next lumia flagship? Really excited for the possibility. Of course microsoft should do something with the OS and not waiting for Nokia to do everything |

I'm from Android, would like to try out Lumia 920 initially but heard this is coming out... Hopefully WP8 suits me as I don'y play games. Mainly emails, messaging, calls, photography and online... Simple form factor would be perfect!! And most importantly I heard WP8 is stable, am I correct? My Andoid hung up and become hot sometimes...will wait for the review and hands on experience first. The hardware is good enough, problem is the software, the OS
M$ is like ignoring WP8, it lack of so many common features that most phones have WP8 gonna get slaughtered by iP5S and keylimepie phones if they continue like this |

actually I think over time after NOKIA release more updates to address the phone's issues and any weaknesses found...the user experience would be really good
indeed it has a smaller sensor but i think due to OIS + BSI it should at least match 808 level plus the killer thing that hooks me on is that camera grip thing, so convenient somemore with extra battery n tripod mount... now if only we can get the 64GB version... |

by the time the Lumia 1020 being release in China this quarter, our Nokia Malaysia will probably be promoting 925 at the same time. Such a shame that 925 is one of the good device too!

Some harsh questions were asked by Nilay@TheVerge team, the announcement felt like Nokia was selling a camera more than a smartphone.

Actually I am very disappointed about how nokia plans and market strategies for their phones.
If you follow nokia phones. Nokia n900 - nokia let it die to focus on symbian Nokia n9 - announce its death to nokia lumia 800 abandoning meego in less than 6 months Nokia lumia 900 -troll nokia lumia 800 with a bigger screen in less than a year Nokia lumia 920 - kill the nokia lumia 900 with its launch in less than a year. Then announce Nokia Lumia 925 to kill the Nokia Lumia 920 in less than a year Then now announce nokia lumia 1020 to kill nokia nokia 920, 925 and 928. You notice they can launch 3-4 phones 90% similar in a year. So for those rich people they spend at least 8k+ to follow the trend of the similar design when android and I phone they launch one of a kind every year. Even nokia 808 pureview they killed it within 6months announcing its death of symbian. The price of the phone can drop like water in few months can drop 300 to 500 wtf I dunno what strategy is this but they not giving the best to their customers. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yeah Aspire2006, u have a point there, seems like nokia style is like tat LOL (alot of wrong choices so now no choice liao so for us, we can either follow their trend n spend money like water or just be patient n wait abit, then price huge drop we can get good deal say for example 808 Pureview, when come out release time was about 2K just about end of last year period got good deal Becazo selling RM999 for new model so my hope for now is to wait tis new lumia drop price at least a few hundred bucks btw, nokia's budget models don't seem to have so much of all these troubles...msia case is high end nokia phones always slowpoke one... |

So for those rich people they spend at least 8k+ to follow the trend of the similar design when android and I phone they launch one of a kind every year. Even nokia 808 pureview they killed it within 6months announcing its death of symbian. The price of the phone can drop like water in few months can drop 300 to 500 wtf I dunno what strategy is this but they not giving the best to their customers. but look at the trend, u see only Apple is doing one flagship phone a year. Samsung, Sony, Nokia produce how many phones a year, especially SAMSUNG. like hundred a year LOL |

Question is, do we really that much packed 41 mega pixels? Which is why Nokia called the event "Zoom Reinvented", as you will get "oversampled" photos when cropped, do you really print your photos out in large print?
Of all the range of Lumias, they all have the exact same OS, just slight different hardwares. This post has been edited by s7ran9er: Jul 12 2013, 10:55 AM |

41MP will then have oversampling...
basically from my understanding can explain like this : u take 7 plates of chicken rice n u combine the best rice, sauce n chicken meat into one plate... tat is oversampling haha sorry for mentioning about nasi ayam during puasa time, no offense intended to any ppl out there, just thought of this explanation to tell ppl about pixel oversampling haha XD |

Which is why Nokia called the event "Zoom Reinvented", as you will get "oversampled" photos when cropped, do you really print your photos out in large print? The 41MP is UNIQUE. Yes, you dont' really need it, but when you have it, you may appreciate it. Of all the range of Lumias, they all have the exact same OS, just slight different hardwares. For those get 808, can you find any replacement for it? You can get any smartphone that is capable to do this, moreover with such sensor size, and rich recording. Sorry, but as current other Lumias, it's not really unique like the 808 PureView. Other manufacturer's already offering similar OIS, and even OIS is not really a necessity, but nice to have; Having used Lumia's and Samseng S3, there's nothing really stand-out, unllike 808, where you will want to utilize/enjoy the 34MP or 38MP image and no other smartphones can. The current Lumia's PureView is just temporary to "maintain" the market demand for a PureView WP since they can't offer a proper 808 PureView replacement. In my POV, a proper phase II, should incorporate Phase 1 technology + Phase 2 technology, which means PureView oversampling + PureView OIS, but the current Lumia PureView is missing Phase 1. They cannot produce such device, but they have to "maintain" the market, so they launch the OIS version to capture/grab the market first. To me, it's making use of the PureView name, but then it's business after all, they need to "maintain" their customers instead of letting them wait/switch. We all know it's part of the plan since the announcement of 920 & 820. This 'phone' is built for a niche market, like mobile photographers. Yeah Nokia is going with all the mumbo jumbo marketing it like it is the next best thing since sliced bread but it's just a slimmer 920 with AMOLED, it's unlikely to bring anything new to the table phone-wise aside from the few-and-far-between updates. OS will still be lagging behind and whatnot. Personally though I'm drooling and oozing.
That said the real focus here is the technology. I think it's pretty clear that this technology is out to kill P&S for good (which is not that hard; you just need something _good enough_ to replace them). In a few years time this thing will be streamlined enough to be in every phone in the market. Nokia their flag ship change 4 times a year wth I can't see that cos to me, Lumia 925 isn't actually a next version of Lumia 920, it is more like Lumia 920's variant with minor bump but they are still in same batch of products. Like how Samsung Galaxy S4 got variants like Active, Zoom etc. So I can't see why Samsung can do it and it is okay, while Nokia do it then it is not okay? Also, the first Lumia 920 released November 2012, and this Lumia 1020 seems to be released worldwide and reaching us by another 3 months so that makes it October 2013. So, it is about 11 months cycle, which is practically the same as S3 (May 2012) to S4 (April 2013). So, I don't see why there are 4 times flagships in a year there? If you meant from Lumia 800 to 900, then to Lumia 920, then yes, I have to admit that Nokia do have problems on schedule of releasing the phones back then, perhaps it was about that time when they start mass producing Lumia 900 and suddenly MS told Nokia that WP7 cannot be upgraded to WP8, so they couldn't just halt the production half way so they ended up just releasing Lumia 900 and suffer the brand damage. At least now all Lumia (WP8 series) get the updates; while Samsung, I cannot say for sure. However, there is one thing that I have to salute Samsung for, their phones always available for sales very soon, usually just about one month after announcement. |

I think one of the better, new feature over the 808 pureview is the ability to save both high reso pictures and oversampled at the same time.
Also not to mention the ability to re-crop any part of the image that you want. |

QUOTE(arbelnox @ Jul 12 2013, 03:44 PM) really, 4 times a year? Let me share my perspective on this issue. I can't see that cos to me, Lumia 925 isn't actually a next version of Lumia 920, it is more like Lumia 920's variant with minor bump but they are still in same batch of products. At least now all Lumia (WP8 series) get the updates; while Samsung, I cannot say for sure. However, there is one thing that I have to salute Samsung for, their phones always available for sales very soon, usually just about one month after announcement. S4 variant are from a s4 because its a flagship. If nokia does lumia 1020 zoom edition I can accept or maybe lumia 1020 active I can accept because its a variant of the same phone. What you explains actually make it worse because example lumia 1020 announce yesterday because its the improved version of 920 ppl look forward to 1020. I follow your claim 3 months later Malaysia get it when US gets it maybe in 1 or 2 months time. Delay delay then 5months past so US have the chance to enjoy the phone for 5months when malaysian get only enjoy 3 months due to the delay. Then they announce another improved version with that your 1020 have already drop by 20 to 40% in value about 3 months. So can u tell me this year which is the flagship of nokia? Lumia 920? Lumia 925 ? Lumia 928? Now Lumia 1020 or since its just mid of the year between sept to dec nokia will launch another one. I salute too samsung wont out of stock even its popular but nokia not many ppl wants also out of stock maybe their marketing strategies to create an illusion that too much demand over supply. I am using note 2 I get so much updates until I get so annoyed. I was there when nokia n9, nokia lumia 800, 900 and 920 was launched. You can feel stephen elop do it on purpose. I have nothing against nokia but the way they strategist their phone launch timeline is terrible. I even got the nokia 808 pureview nokia kill symbian within the few months it launched. Lumia 1020 looks awesome for the camera 41mp and OIS its just pawnage but this phone will always be my 2nd phone if I have the extra budget or I rather buy a new ultrabook |

QUOTE(neo0915 @ Jul 12 2013, 05:17 PM) True! But something I might have said thousand of times is that the lack of expandable storage is a flaw for potential buyers. Especially when you are promoting a 41MP phone. So I guess backing up after a day of shooting/camwhoring would be a habit now. But I'm sure a lot are hoping to have expandable storage , they removed it since they created the unibody polycarbonate design |

What's the issue with flagships anyway? For me, whenever I buy something, I only look for what I need. I don't have to buy the best, most expensive model because I don't have the need to show off that I have the best model.
Those who are angry that Nokia releases top models too quickly, surely have some kind of ego issues coupled with financial issues. |

Some might misunderstand maybe like you said you yourself have ego problem just because you lack of experience in planning what you want not necessary others must follow. To you maybe life is all about gadgets but in reality there more to life.
Maybe financially thats all you can afford dont talk about property investment, travel maybe out of your league possible? We are also confused why are you angry over a phone dude. Come on its just a gadget that will get outdated within months. Cheer up dude. We are just disappointed. This post has been edited by aspire2oo6: Jul 12 2013, 08:44 PM |

i see that the purple tinge (during low light conditions) during recording on both left and right side is still visible, but I'm glad its lesser than the one in 808PV. its purple tinge is flashy and annoying!!! I'm still glad for Nokia. finally people will recognize the 41mp more. of course, we have to tell our friends how it works because they simply can't think out of the box, always having samseng iporn samseng iporn in their minds This post has been edited by ulwan25: Jul 12 2013, 10:49 PM |

Gsmarena sounds like wanna kill somebody for ruining their dream phone...
QUOTE Certainly, the only cameraphone that can come close to the Lumia 1020 output is the Nokia 808 PureView with its even larger sensor. As we already mentioned we compared those two side by side and found that Nokia has slightly altered the processing algorithms in its new cameraphone flagship. Unlike the 808 PureView, which delivered natural colors that are as close to reality as we've seen any smartphone get, the Lumia 1020 goes for boosted saturation and warmer colors. We suspect this has a lot to do with the former head of Nokia imaging Damian Dinning leaving the company. Mr Dinning was a fan of more natural unprocessed look and most Nokia smartphones developed under his lead reflected that. Now the Lumia 1020 takes a different path and goes for the punchier output even if that means sacrificing some detail. The saturation boost has cost the Lumia 1020 some fine detail, which is still present on the 808 PureView shots. We really hope Nokia tunes down the default saturation in the final product as those who like more vibrant colors can always boost the saturation from the camera settings. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Jul 12 2013, 05:31 PM) Let me share my perspective on this issue. Good morning bro. Lumia 1020 looks awesome for the camera 41mp and OIS its just pawnage but this phone will always be my 2nd phone if I have the extra budget or I rather buy a new ultrabook I kinda see your point there, I guess we kinda have different perspective on the variant I supposed. According to your perspective, 1020 Zoom and 1020 Active will only be considered as variant as they are based on the 1020 the flagship. However, in my perspective, I actually treat the Lumia 920 as the flagship of the first WP8, and 925 & 928 are the variant that are based on the L920. I don't know how others people actually think of this. So I guess this is where our opinions conflicted... haha... As for the delay, I know Nokia has the problem of undersupplying their flagship devices usually worldwide.. however, this problem is not only plagued on Nokia flagship alone, I think Apple iPhone 5 also has similar issue, where the phone is available about September 2012 while us Malaysians can actually get it in December 2012 IIRC (or November?) So I guess this is the fate that us Malaysians usually have to accept and get used to it now. Haha... But still I agree to your point that Nokia should keep up with their flagship phone timeline delivery issue. As for the December phone, I guess it will be based on the new chasis that runs WP 8.1 that will allow quadcore and 1080 resolution, so yeah... but I kinda doubt they will release a 41MP Pureview on that device, most likely they will try other innovation perhaps focusing on the Speakers or Pelican technology. Just my two cents on a side note, is there any difference between AMOLED and Oled +? Although I still prefer IPS SLCD due to the color production is more accurate, but if OLED or AMOLED can improve the battery consumption, then hey I'm all in for that. Just hope they didn't over saturated it like Samsung phone did most of the time, Vibrant and vivid but just fake. PS: HTC ONE SLCD is superb. Apple did have problem supplying enough but the numbers they sold is probably tens of millions unit whereas the whole Lumia series, I wonder if it even exceed 10 millions unit. |

Most of the Nokia Lumia phone's hardware had FM radio enabled, is just that Windows Phone 8 OS don't support. My 808's FM transmitter really useful during long journey in the car Wait microsoft release new patch called GDR2 to Nokia phone to enable FM radio. So you can hear FM radio by using ear-plug instead of internet streaming. |

Just trying to say that Malaysians or some other countries are just getting the phone delayed for a couple of months. It doesn't matter the volume, just the fact that the phones are delivered region by region and we are getting them much later than Singapore, USA, Europe etc. You choose the very wrong comparison. Apple did have problem supplying enough but the numbers they sold is probably tens of millions unit whereas the whole Lumia series, I wonder if it even exceed 10 millions unit. So we cannot blame Nokia alone for being delivering the products so late. By your logic, we can say the same for Apple and Samsung. Samsung GS4 and GS3 has much more sales than iPhone (IIRC, I could be wrong), but still why can Samsung get them available for sale here while Apple cannot? Anyway, so AMOLED = OLED? |

I buy something that I am comfortable with and use it for a couple of years. That's why I bought the Lumia 620. After all, I can still use my point-and-shoot camera if I need to take better photos.Just buy what you're comfortable with and use the phone for 2-3 years. After that change again. I tend to avoid buying flagships because I also know that this year's flagship may be a just a cheap normal phone in a year or two. So no point chasing flagships. Just be patient and everything would drop in price, because that has always been the case for all technological products. Those who always chase flagships would always become disappointed very fast because the rate of new releases are becoming more frequent due to fierce competition. On the hand, I think the Lumia 1020 is a great phone and I hope that in one or two years time, I can get a new phone just like that, for half its current price. |

The way i see it, Lumia 1020 is not an upgrade from Lumia 920. Rather, it is an upgrade from PV808. Those wanting to have the camera but hesitate because of the outdated OS are now simply left with no choice but to donate your money.
Also, at least all these technologies introduced by Nokia in the 1020 are actually useful and ready to be used. Rather than coming out with useless features for marketing gimmicks which people are not going to use it anyway. The next Lumia 920 successor might not even have this 41mp camera and such strong camera capabilities. All it would have is a little bit of design changes and also specs bump in all aspect. Sounds familiar? So for people complaining nothing changes from the Lumia 920 except the camera, why don't you look at it as a pv 808 successor instead and you will see a new flagship with an OS bump. Let's not resort to personal attacks and continue with the discussion about the phone. If you're feeling offended, don't. Just buy the phone and enjoy the beauty of it. You spend your hard earned money the way you like. It's a win-win situation.

actually in comparison to Lumia 925 is it much slimmer?
Cuz among the Lumia I think the one that I saw in the Nokia Shop at Paradigm Mall was the Lumia 720 that I bought few days ago. :/ Giving up wireless charging, and better specs. I think this Lumia 1020 is sorta Nokia challenge towards Samsung S4 Zoom |

Come on guys why the sudden bashing towards each other? No one can deny Nokia strategy markets sux balls thats why they are down and hard to climb back to ze top.
oke. Lumia 1020 is not that great comparing with 808. But lets face this. At least for low light sbot, 1020 can do better alongside videos. I am highly interested to see how 1020 would go worldwide as the SDK tools keeps it from getting outdated and boring. |

don't bash the guys, that guys talk harsh but i bet he sure love nokia... he's an active member in previous nokia lowyat forum before as we all.
Let face it, the probability we get the lumia phone in a few months is very high. But i just hope that our service provider like maxis can bring it here faster, either in limited stock or not. I have tickle with note 2 and s4.. the innovation, nothing is really that special and stand out. it just a basic spec upgrade, nothing impressive in engineering perspective. well in the end, we all just play whatsapp instagram or wechat more regardless of phones ;-) |

QUOTE(thesun @ Jul 14 2013, 04:02 PM) i think cannot, cos different curve and shape, yeah, we certainly need samples for that! some said there's a tiny hole in that camera grip but i just don't see it now me wonders, since the grip covers the microphone or at least muffled it, dunno how good the sound if compared to gripless recording.. |

yup, sure look tht way. Singapore is getting ready for their nokia 925, even SG nokia facebook admin quote "for 1020-As announced, it will start sales in the coming months only in selected markets and we are working to bring it to Singapore in Q4" ... hahahaha my hope just died :-(..
Even Malaysia nokia facebook has less information about 1020 or 925...... in the past, we always get the phone as soon as it launch. Now, we are not nokia favorite anymore..if reach in Q4 or end of Q3, probably by that time, we are using an obsolete phones.. i hope i am wrong thou. |

Well, Nokia didn't say they didn't want to bring it in, just that Malaysia will be MUCH MUCH LATER than other countries as we are not in their priority list, even China and India tops us.And you guys know why? Cos Malaysians are obsessed with only Samsung and Androids phones. Let's face it, WP's acceptance or adoption rate in Malaysia is so low... I guess probably about 0.01% (yeah, I'm exaggerating) of all smartphones users? So, if you are Nokia, will you bother to release your phones in Malaysia first? Or you will release your phones in other countries that have higher adoption rate of your devices? So, I'm not gonna blame Nokia on that... Just that we are too niche to their markets... is all... Just my 2 cents... But still you guys in West Malaysian will still get the phones much EARLIER than us East Malaysia folks... So, please don't be too upset... haha... |

You can be more than sure that we'll bring you a more detailed review of the 41MP camera of the Lumia 1020 complete with our usual set of camera samples once we get our hands on a retail unit. QUOTE(thesun @ Jul 15 2013, 12:40 PM) if the phone should be release, i will release globally.. Well, you have to consider their cost of delivery per unit if just deliver in small quantity. It just won't justify their profit margin if just to test market. For Malaysian's case, if the fans really love the phone, they will wait as long as they know that the phone will be reached eventually. There is no harm for Malaysian's market to flock to Samsung or Apple since there is only a TINY LITTLE MINI % of global market. if not banyak, stock sikit pun takpa, test water first That's how I will look at us Malaysian's market from Nokia's perspective. QUOTE(neo0915 @ Jul 15 2013, 02:17 PM) Maybe Nokia dont even have enough stock for global release... Usually won't be too long after China release, just worry about limited stocks though... so either have to grab fast or wait even longer. As for me, I don't mind waiting any more longer since I still have my Lumia 920 with me. Am going to try the amber updates with Smart Camera Pro then WP 8.1 afterall. Never regret getting Lumia 920 ever. That's y they have to release it batch by batch... Jz hope tat Msia release wont far from China release... Though still kinda jelly to those who get 1020 first... QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Jul 15 2013, 02:21 PM) If there's demand, they should release it earlier. Malaysia facebook? Well, I think these people are just a bunch of Facebookers who are just hired to play Facebook only. Like it or not, if you can control your "hype" on new devices, you can tell yourself to stop hyping and stop raging towards Nokia for delivering late in your country. We actually have a pretty accurate tipster from the community, he mentioned 925 will be announced on the 4th week of this month and we will see if his "tips" is accurate or not, if it's then you may stalk him for further updates. |

Is there any chances that you're working for social media? yeap, agree, it's somewhat different than other companies, the Nokia Malaysia facebook page is controlled by some PR firm hired by Nokia, so they will keep on post promotional post, but for real problems, they either hardly reply, or late to reply cos they still need to seek advice from Nokia internal. As for spamming there, all they can do is to collect the feedback and report up, they don't have any nego rights for that.Like it or not, if you can control your "hype" on new devices, you can tell yourself to stop hyping and stop raging towards Nokia for delivering late in your country. I know because I am a former Nokia Ranger and I know the person that used to manage the page, he left the PR firm so I suppose another person replaced him This post has been edited by BBXiong: Jul 15 2013, 04:30 PM |

You mean for Nokia Malaysia? hmm... I thought they already somehow hinted that it will be coming. Just don't have exact date. I could be wrong though... cos I usually don't bother their website until I see the announcement from here. You made a point there bro, control your hype and everything's cool. Whatever it will be, it's going to be a long wait. When I go to Nokia shop in The Curve I asked them when will be the release of Lumia 925, they say it will be after raya. If that is the fate of a phone that been released a month ago, I expect at least September or October before 1020 reach Malaysia.

Sept or Oct not too bad. The reviews would have come and dissected everything about the 1020 and best is that we can read about the first 3 month user issues / break-in period and then decide if it's worthy.

For OS, WP8 vs Symbian, definitely WP8 wins. |

Counting OS and apps+games, which should take around 5-10GB you'll have about 20-25GB for everything else, plus the measly 7GB from SkyDrive. Bleh. Bad move IMO. We should check out the side by side comparison when it's made available for the mass. we'll be waiting for that. i just wanna have a proper shots like I use to have with my N8.808 produces some problematic yet frustrating shots, weird combination of ISO and shutter speed. 920 just can't adjust its shutter speed settings. weird color is everywhere. no extra settings. certainly 1080p screen is super-ridiculous. 720p is too much for a phone. but i would definitely up for L1020. glad to see Nokia is back on track! |

Windows Phone is not similar with PC version, not even Tablet version. It's basically a very much simplified OS for phone. Think of Apple iOS for iPod/iPhone, which is not similar to their Mac OS. Basically MS just pretty much followed what Apple did. This post has been edited by Andy214: Jul 22 2013, 04:07 PM |

Only n808 has lack of support for cfw, nothing is breakthrough, including outdated HD games and apps compare to IOS and android.. it even worse when update with the new firmware as some of the apps/games are not compatible. So that this lumia community won't be replace in few years to come. we must move with the flow gang. As for the merger of nokia and windows, with the companies this big, they might already forecast years before the merger. that's why the n808 just died like that, even though they said they show support hahahaha, the last king of symbian. QUOTE I think you have all missed the point of the 1020. It is not meant for us Nokia die-hards. It is meant to lure away more ImaDrone users. I see the 1020 as a lateral release to the 92x series. The more reasons you give Imadrone users to move away from their current devices the better chance you have of snagging them for good once they realize how crappy ios and droid are. Then they realize just how superior Nokia phones are regardless of OS. worth reading from this forum. some points that we need to be clear of http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1020/233024-6.htm yep, 808 is definitely better than 1020. no one could ever deny it. but im happy so far with 1020. some sacrifice is needed over smaller image sensor and BSI. we just need to get along with it. this phone wasn't for us the die-hard Nokia fans. its finally FOR ALL OF SMARTPHONE USERS OUT THERE |

QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Jul 23 2013, 04:18 PM) worth reading from this forum. some points that we need to be clear of Give and Take; Seeing the sample and videos they capture the presentation sample on GsmArena blog, it's very good already.http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1020/233024-6.htm yep, 808 is definitely better than 1020. no one could ever deny it. but im happy so far with 1020. some sacrifice is needed over smaller image sensor and BSI. we just need to get along with it. this phone wasn't for us the die-hard Nokia fans. its finally FOR ALL OF SMARTPHONE USERS OUT THERE It's capable of producing good quality 38MP file plus PureView mode which provide true losses zoom and there is OIS. And finally, it's running WP8 (albeit I'm not a fan of WP), but comparing with dated Symbian, at least you have more modern apps, features, etc. In terms of Camera and the OS, there is give and take for both. For me, I would say it's worth to upgrade from 808PV, to get a more useful smartphone with great camera. Just hoping the price isn't too steep. |

Yea OIS and better low light performance makes 1020 a worth phone to go for especially with 41MP.
But in detail I have a feeling 808 pureview is better. Audio recording 808 is better |

I would tend to agree, the average consumer will prefer the post processed look; i.e. similar to Apple and Android.
And i Hope Nokia adds a "natural or vivid" setting so users can change the amount of auto sharpening done, so they can cater for both groups of consumers. This has to be priced at less than RM2K (say RM1899 ?). Anything higher and people will wait (including me) when it hits the next price cut at RM1699+/- level. |

Im happy that the shutter speed is getting longer and longer, N8 only limited to half a second, 808 is 2.7 sec and this 1020 at 4 sec. But I would like to see lower ISO preferably 50 then it would be great. Still they took this long to do it, my old Sony k850 could do 2 sec exposure and ISO as low as 40 with modded camera driver. Landscape at night looks amazing.

QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Aug 2 2013, 08:29 PM) Yea , I've been wondering for quite some time , why do phones not come with 1080p @ 60fps option? Not that it couldn't handle the processing. Last I seen was that the S4 had the option on the specs that was shown in their unveiling event but that was a typo I guess. |

QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Aug 6 2013, 06:59 PM) I be honest with you android does sux when its jellybean below aka 4.0When its 4.0 above thats where the experience is acceptable. I can swap viber call , line calls, whatsapp, twitter, instagram, web browsing all at once and its not lagging even playing Real Racing 3. If you open too many eventually it will lag. Even i buy a Nokia Lumia 1020 it will be my 2nd phone. So before i consider this phone i need to see what android phone to replace my note 2. Everything else it beats Nokia Lumia 1020 except camera. Because of that you more or less need to buy top end Android smartphones to avoid lag, whereas the cheapest 512MB Windows Phones doesn't have that problem. |

That is why you require lots of RAM and many cores in Android to run smoothly. Because of that you more or less need to buy top end Android smartphones to avoid lag, whereas the cheapest 512MB Windows Phones doesn't have that problem. No offense to your professional isnt lumia 1020 same price or more expensive than android high ends phone but you still have tons of limitation. Notice how bias are you when do comparison just because you never own multiple OS before. In reality learn to have flexible every OS have their pros and cons it depend which you prefer. Why are you comparing low end vs high end? Why you didnt didnt you say paying high price for low spec? If you wanna debate Lumia 1020 low end? or high end? Lumia 1020 is same price as a high end android Lumia updates slower than high end android phone for the same price Lumia limitation more than any android combined Apps limitation plenty. Android have more apps than windows phone Even getting outdated is faster than any iOS phones or android. Do you know what are the benefits of real time multitasking? Learn do your research. I can list them down for you can you? Hope that clarify your confusion. I know more things about windows phone than you know about it. |

It's people centric UI, 2. Offline GPS worldwide map 3. Microsoft Office. Windows Phone 8 only came out at the end of Oct, 2012. Microsoft's policy on Windows Phone 8 OS upgrade is the same with Apple's, that is, it upgrades for all phones, unlike Android, where getting an OS upgrade is a matter of luck. That's why it takes a longer time for Microsoft to come out with upgrades, because it tests all phones, and it doesn't want to deal with the problem of fragmentation. Preemptive multitasking is of course great, but it drains your battery faster and unless we have better hardware, such as the new Intel Silvermont smartphone SOC taking over from the ARM-based SOCs. |

Have I been away from the Phone thread too long? Seeing most of the folks from the previous Nokia N8 thread makes me feel so at home when I'm reading the threads here in 1020. My initial decision was to get a 925, however when I was searching up for 1020 (no harm searching), I can consider my backside itchy already. LOL!!!
I'm still using my faithful Nokia N8 (not ashamed but bottom cover very loose already) and back then I was counting down with the LOWYAT folks on the Symbian flagship. Come to think of it, it's been close to 3 years and I still haven't make my final decision until this thread. Feel so at home! |

My initial decision was to get a 925, however when I was searching up for 1020 (no harm searching), I can consider my backside itchy already. LOL!!! You wouldn't itch so much if you bought the RM999 808.I'm still using my faithful Nokia N8 (not ashamed but bottom cover very loose already) and back then I was counting down with the LOWYAT folks on the Symbian flagship. Come to think of it, it's been close to 3 years and I still haven't make my final decision until this thread. Feel so at home! |

Feel so at home! i also before been using n8 until n808 come out. n8 is so tough, keep dropping and slipping to the floor, but the phone function is still ok. Same with n808, i accidentally drop it a few times...with back cover, battery just pop up to nowhere. Still ok, no scratches and the function is still unbelievably ok. never have any regret for both phones |

Meanwhile, I think I'm gonna find some way to prevent the bottom part of my phone from dropping. It's annoying when I'm picking up the phone. Also, I realised when the bottom part is loose, signal is gone. Sigh~ Now, with your encouragement, I'll be holding on by looking forward to my lovely 1020. (Oh Babeh, pls come fast! QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Aug 10 2013, 05:33 PM) take it if you will, it's not a commercial worthy of hype or not. It's simply tells you how their lens element work, OIS, huge BSI sensor and how it is being displayed on PureMotionHD+ Nothing more. This post has been edited by s7ran9er: Aug 10 2013, 06:44 PM |

You won't get the exclusive Telco locks in Malaysia, it's not how our Telcos work. Mainly because the consumers can't be trusted with initial low price for contracts. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Aug 8 2013, 02:36 PM) yea i agree what you said but at the moment you have no choice to choose using windows phone even you have alot ram like 1020 2GB u still do not have real time multitasking. No real time multitasking? And you said you know more things about windows phone No offense to your professional isnt lumia 1020 same price or more expensive than android high ends phone but you still have tons of limitation. Lumia 1020 same price as high end android? Where do you get the info? Lumia is not an OS. If you want to compare updates speed of OS, you compare Windows to Android, when is the last time you get an update from Android? Samsung Ativ S is on GDR2 already. Lumia's Amber is coming and Windows is testing GDR 3. Please elaborate on the limitation? When I see my friend hunting for a wall socket every 1 hour literally, I would say that is a real limitation. Apps limitation excuse is getting old, baring some developers holding a personal motives that don't want to release an official app on WP, there are 3rd party that can replace them, but then again I don't need to worry malware, you may know how to distinguish an unsafe apps, but how about the average Joe out there? Lumia is not being outdated, if you bother to learn Nokia's idea at all, each categories has a speciality that suits anyone, 920 jack of all traits, 925 metallic body, 1020 camera. |

Seeing as the current flagship Lumia 925 is +/-RM1599 , the 1020 *should* fall into the 1899 - 2199 bracket. p/s: Can we keep the negativity to a minimum please. Tq. IINM, Unlike other country, smartphone in our country doesn't charge with tax, so can directly convert the sale price as US to guess the price range in Malaysia.
So the price would be much cheaper, besides that if the phone in IPhone price range, lagi cannot sell. |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Aug 14 2013, 07:50 PM) Hello uncle before even you get to try lumia 1020 i will get my unit dont need to teach me what to do. Just to put things into perspective, WP does do real time multitasking, even in suspended state. It really depends on which API is being used. Try downloading a large file, switch out to another app and come back, your download doesn't pause while you're away, it continues to run. That's as real time as you can get. Since when i said Lumia is a OS i didnt know there someone outdated like you that dont even know what the OS is running until requires you to assume Lumia is an OS. Please la please at least google it. Hello uncle all lumia series are running windowsphone you dont even know that? Need me to state in clearly? Another API that runs in the background is music streaming / playback. The music app can be suspended and your music will still continue to play / stream in the background. Edit: Down to the end, it's not that the OS is not capable of multitasking, it's more like they're trying to supress and unnecessary use of resources in order to achieve the best user experience.
