you giving opinions of how bad nokia management and marketing, after lumia 920 suddenly 925 then 928, then 1020 is like an upgrade, not really a flagship. Yeah everyone is free to give opinions but i think in management issue we cant control much because the people inside nokia decides how they run the company. Those issue you have mentioned is better to be suggested to nokia through their page or whatever possible path. Instead of complaining their shortcomings, is it better to discuss and discover the beauty of the device? Thats my Opinion.

Marketing epic failed...why call it 1020?? Will forever be known as the 'almost FullHD phone'.....coz not yet reach 1080!!!

if so, i did a good choice selecting Lumia 920 back then over samsung galaxy s3,
bear in mind back then all my frens and family use iphone and android..
the decision i made was like swimming across a mighty river..

every time i met ppl they said why not s3??
windows no apps lah.. nobody use wp8.. whatsapp oso buggy..

i said to them, apps can come anytime,
better for me to buy good hardware, solid phone, good camera,
got free navigation summore..
now wp8 slowly moving forward, apps got improvised, new functions unlocked..

For my case, it wasn't WP8 that was asked.

Instead, it was a typical "Nokia still got people use?" "What kind of Nokia is this?" I'm not offended and if you're reading this don't be too because average consumers wants to sit on the same trending boat.

My answer for them would be a simple nod, it saves a lot of energy and time.

Is it wise for me to buy lumia 925 then later when 1020 comes out, i  will just trade in? What do you guys think?

Just going along with your numbering scheme here. 

1. But they're certainly not marketing it as such, and IMO they shouldn't be. Here's a phone with breakthrough technology of the future that everyone should be drooling about, with 4-second lag between taking pictures. WHY THE HELL DOES IT HAVE A 4-SECOND LAG? If I want to spend RM2k+ on a phone, I want my experience to be Flawless™.

2. That's their problem to solve. A half-assed solution is half-assed. A defeatist view on it won't help. Have they done everything in their power to solve it? If they have they should learn a thing or two about efficiency from those developers in ex-Soviet countries. (see: http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/09/skypes-secrets/)

3. There's no 4G reception in Taman Negara to upload those 5 GB videos (oh, my data charge!). Cloud storage may be a reasonable solution in NA and Europe, but the rest of the world doesn't care and their infrastructure is just not feasible yet. That's my biggest gripe with MSFT - they're too NA-centric and ignorant about the rest of the world. If you want to go up against Google, then you better act like it. Google knows how to please the average Joe, Microsoft is still a clueless nerd he was from 20 years ago.

GDR3 only took them what, 2 years?  And notification center is only coming with WP8.1, in Q1 2014. Seriously I think MSFT is trying too hard to 're-invent' things. They should just do what they've been doing for the past 30 years - steal someone's idea and make money off it. Sorry that I sound like a MS hater but I'm not, really. I'm a fan of theirs and I want to see them succeed and they can't succeed if they're being a p*ssy like this.

I like that in the old days they'd just take somebody's technology and solutions and leave them to rot. They're good at that, they should stick to doing that. I understood every bit of your remarks over Microsoft on Windows Phone development.
I believe we all here are.
But do give them a tiny understanding that developing Windows Phone for Mobile Network is quite unique to them, comparing to their decade of experience in Computer OS where Hardware do not hook up with Mobile Network around the globe. Also, I believe with the latest acquisition of Nokia Hardware and its Team. I'm sure this lapse in planning will be reduce dramatically. Windows Phone team just do not understand the complexity of Mobile in other part of the world as mentioned in previous news, until Nokia told them so.

I believe they were being ignorant at first for these Mundane features.

Personally, I do not seek Flawless in my every purchase as Flawless when using, no matter what machine/equipment/materials and how expensive they are. I would set an expectation first and think it over and over before my purchase.

This is because I used to work in Official Service Center as Customer Service Assistant, I truly understood the feeling that when Consumer purchase a mobile, they expect it to work especially consumer who purchase expensive or flagship phone, they expect it work flawlessly as advertised in those TV or Review. I had saw many that their expectation was shattered with anger, sadness and negative emotion as the phone got problem (hardware) right after 1-2 weeks being used. They had to wait for 1-2 months for new spare parts come.
Hence, from these extension experience, I told myself that I will never buy an expensive phone as this will not naturally allow myself to set my expectation high.

FYI, I still in dilemma to purchase L1020. If I purchase, it is my first phone that cost more than RM1,000.

Half baked in over all performance including OS. Limited options, apps issued, features issue, bug issues. I skipping 1020

Thanks for the clear and detail info. Yes, if already make decision to purchase, don't look back and just enjoy your device. Whatever device will eventually drop price, if already decided to purchase and need to get it immediately then don't look back. If can wait, then just wait until "cannot wait" ahahaha.

For this 1020, I can only say:
The main target should be the predecessor, the Nokia 808 PureView Customers. They should grab these customers so that they STAY with Nokia. These customers are not WP users, does Nokia-Microsoft want the customer's to TRY and switch to Lumia series PureView?
If these customers somehow jump to another platform, Nokia just lost their customer base,... just like how they did when they switch to WP and looses a lot of their Symbian Customers (that's also one major reason why Samseng become successful; majority of their customers are from Nokia)
Now is the time they need to grab more customers into their Lumia series, in terms of Camera features, the Z1 is marketing it and the Galaxy S4 Zoom (of course this is bulky); If the customers didn't choose Lumia because of the price, Nokia-Microsoft just lost potential customers again.

Another important factor is, for those people who just 'switch' platform, say from Symbian, iOS, BB, etc. Imagine if the chosen the Android alternative because of 1020 pricing. Once they 'started' the new platform, they setup their 'accounts', they start to invest/downloads their apps and customize their Androids.
It's even harder for them to switch to WP next time, especially for those who started investing into apps/games; switching platform means their purchases all goes to waste because they have to 'start over' at WP platform.
I wonder if Nokia-Microsoft realizes this important criteria? I inform Nokia's staff before about this importance since WP7, but not sure if it reaches which level.

I'm planning to do that - Currently On Strike until I cannot tahan or until I see reasonable price drop.

Seriously, im on the bridge between all phone OS platform selections. I willing to spend 2k+ between note3,iphone5s or lumia 1020.

I born with nokia symbian till windows 7.5 to 7.8 then currently using android juz for 1 month..

Yesterday I just play with my friend Ios 7 for 3 hours to check the ios7 been practical or not for my usage.

In the end, i still think windows phone is still better phone for fast access to all my daily needs as business phone, and windows OS give me closer feel to engage with people easily (connected to people) compare to android.

What's make me keen to get lumia 1020 is the camera technology and hardware. the windows OS is still not mature, example the notification bug. u juz open and close ur email app with 10 notifications and it assume u read all of it.

Its not major issue to me, even the marketplace is not an issue because I getting a phone for what its does best, camera functions and as business phone. not going to use for gaming.
