I will definitely pick this up, even after switching from L920 to One recently. Finally a worthy pocket shooter.

Btw i paid about rm2400 incl rm100 permit for the phone. It managed to detect 4g although it doesn't support true maxis lte afaik. Don't mind the pic quality, I used my htc one. This post has been edited by lkhoe: Aug 19 2013, 09:23 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Just to update everyone. Some points on the camera:
1. Between shots takes about 5s. Not even 3s. If you turn on Review, then expect another 1s lag. 2. Using Smart Cam, somehow the pictures come out either blurry or grainy depending on light conditions. Most of the time, they're unusable unless under broad daylight. 3. After taking a Pro Cam shot, the initial picture as displayed on the screen, will transform to a plain, muddy version a second later. People say its compression and what not, coz the camera cannot display the full res. You'll need to see them in your PC to appreciate its full glory. Frankly speaking the 5mp version isn't eye popping when share on social media or whatsapp. 4. Edges are soft, but details are still clear. 5. Shooting in ISO 100 with manual facus can be challenging under average lighting conditions. Movements are picked up easily. |

It'll dip to sub RM2k next year that's for sure. That is, if you can wait that long

Another update... the matte finish on the body is excellent.. not as slippery as the L920 since it catches alot of oil and fingerprints, but is instead smooth. There is however tendancy for device to slip out, but at least the matte texture reduces such possiblity.
I keep taking it out to 'feel' it and the camera hump gives it exquisite character and seamlessly formed with the phone body. No gaps or irregular corners, unlike my HTC One which has a miniscule gap in one corner of the screen. The L1020 glass screen is not as curved at the edges like the L920, hence, when I roam my fingers all over the phone, its silky smooth. So good. Build quality is also very good and improved. No squeeky or hollow feely bits like my L920 that even after sending to SC for repair, would re-appear in different parts of the phone (sides and near camera lens). No random restarts or shutdowns. Significantly lighter than the L920, yet feels very solid. |

Battery life is worse than L920 and HTC One. This based on my daily usage of making calls, surfing on 4G & wifi, listening to music / podcasts on loudspeaker and earphones. This w/o even taking photos. Average usage is 12-13hr before it hits 5%. Switching on Double Tap would zap even more.
The Nokia Camera Grip is an essential accessory. This post has been edited by lkhoe: Sep 4 2013, 04:46 PM |

QUOTE(Okina @ Sep 4 2013, 07:52 PM) On minimal usage of 4g/wifi (e.g. only during lunchtime), no listening of music/podcast and receiving very few calls (let's say 3 calls a week averaging 15 mins), how long is the battery expected to last in a day? Assume that photo taking is also minimal. I reckon it should go at least more than 20 hours assuming the rest of the day its on standby. Don't quote me on this tho but it should be a realistic estimate. 😏Thinking of buying a unit once it launches in M'sia. My HTC One could go around 19 hours with my regular routine. My yellow Camera Grip arrived last week. Now combined, the whole thing looks like a toy.
Just to point out, if using the speaker with the grip on, audio reception is not affected coz there's a tiny gap between the phone and right side of the grip that channels sound to the front. in fact it sounds louder too. No need to cup the speaker with your hand. This post has been edited by lkhoe: Sep 13 2013, 06:38 PM |
