What is Q10?

i have been researching media players for a few weeks prior to purchasing and for the most part had decided on himedia q5. by chance, i discovered the newer q10 model while searching online, which led me to this forum as there is very little information or reviews available. priority is for network streaming and hdd playback for all video formats (typically downloaded and disc backups), bit torrent, and android/google play market. not particularly interested in streaming online content. audio would be fine, but i have other equipment for that.

appears to be very few options for purchasing in the US; either ebay or from chinese sellers online, both are apparently direct ship from china. cant seem to find q10 anywhere. any options to purchase online? any other user reviews or experiences for q5/q10?

How is the resolution of the Q5 & Q10? Can receive HD or at least equivalent to Astro's SD quality?

The Q10 has 1000M LAN, how about Q5?

What I meant is the quality of live tv/internet streaming, as most of other tvbox quality so-so only when watch from full hd tv.

I have the HiMedia Q5. The quality of the internet streaming depends on your connection speed, the provider as well as the content itself. The Q5 has built in custom apps for streaming over 200 live TV channels from China and also movies and TV shows from PPS, YouKu and other providers via the HiTV app.

The TV channels are in SD and some of the content from the HiTV app are available in HD. However, the download speed is inconsistent. On some days I can watch in HD 720p while on other days, I cannot even stream 240p. I have a 10 mbps connection and I connect the Q5 using wired LAN connection. Streaming HD content from YouTube though is not a problem. When I am streaming HD content, the quality is very good.

Has anyone tested the optical TOSLink or the Coaxial output? Does it work?

I have the Android Refee M6 Google TV Box and there is no output from the optical TOSLink and in the Android software settings there is no option to enable or disable the optical out.
I have an old 5.1 DTS amplifier to connect to and don't wish to upgrade to a new 7.1 amplifier with HDMI in.

will it lag when play hd movie, with mkv format? interested in Q5 model.
hws the pic and sound quality? does a9 cortex 1ghz enough to do the job? lag o nt when browsing ?

no problem for those hd format, even bdmv or bdiso file (currently in market most of other brand android box can not de).. the pic n sound quality almost same like realtek 1185 chipset player..

android tv box main function is for browsing internet, streaming movie n watch movie from hdd, a9 cortex 1ghz much enough ady... it wont be lagging when do browsing internet unless ur network speed is very slow..

in my case, u think using a android base media player or those realtek o other media player better.

use for :

1: mkv,avi,mp4 file playback, smooth on a 46inch
2: can support subtitle better
3, must have youtube app
4. durable brand and quality, don't easily KO after warrenty
5. good quality for pic n sound

Actually it is the GPU that is doing all the heavy lifting for the video decoding. When browsing, the performance is about the same as browsing on a dual core smartphone. Don't expect performance similar to a PC.

Hi anyone having problem to stream movie or drama online? For me only PPS works, other like xunlei is very lag, i have set to lowest resolution. Using Unifi 5MB now, is there any way to fix this?

the hardware spec sure mk808 is better than q4, dual core 1.6ghz, 1gb ram, q4 only 1.0ghz, 512mb ram...

but u should knw tv box main purpose is for streaming live channel, movie n surf the Internet, that spec is quite enough ady (unless u buy this is for playing those 1g, 2g games)

for software n firmware support himedia is much better than MK808.. q4 support hicontrol, hishare, apple airplay...built-in hitv n ady got more than 200+ live channels (now DIY firmware can add more than 800+ live channels ady, details can check the himedia forum), for MK808 now u even cant find a website for support this player...

china taobao q5 highest record 1 day can sale around 12000+ units, q4 now every can be around 500 units... u can check MK808 is less than 50 set per day de... the quantity cant say 100% true but the huge difference must got reason de...

1/ where to dowload the hishare n hicontrol? searched play store and didnt find any... searched the web and theyre all in chinese.. and i aint chinese!

2/ how do i change all text to english? again... i aint chinese!

3/ is anybody using the Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard k400 with this media player? any other recommended keyboard/mouse combos (with similar layout)?

u just go setting, change the input method to english then can type english de, same like any android tablet or android smart phone...

Im using Q5. Its a wonderful media player. I connect using Optical & HDMI. Optical even can be decoded DTS by my amplifier. Im oso seaching for apps to watch HK series.

Yes Q5 is a great video player. Playing without problem on PPS, Youtube (Anymore more apps for streaming??) 1 good thing is lasttime i tried few media player cannot play the MKV with built in subtitle correctly. On Q5 it is displaying correctly as in PC especially anime.

Anyone tried using combo wireless keybord and mouse like Logitech? does it work?? O i need to use USB keyboard and mouse. Thinking of getting of to ease web browing and youtube.

Add another 30 can get 1gb ram with gigabit network support and a bit additional feature like truehd 5.1

support format is same de wont lag when u play those blu-ray file de, but video output quality seems still realtek player a bit better (not sure izzit setting problem)

different is only the gigabit network, others all same de
