Apple announced just a few minutes ago the official release date for iOS 5: October 12th. iOS 5 is said to bring more than 200 new features to the platform, some of them like iCloud, Find My Friends or iTunes Match are really astonishing.

i believe siri is
only for 4gs

my iPhone 3gs is running iOS5 GM at the moment. i feel so happy bcoz the iOS does not lag at all in 3Gs. so if on ip4, it will run without any hitch :-)

No doubt it sounds cool but not putting too much hope on it. OSX Lion didn't turn out to be as great as how it was revealed during the WWDC.

on itunes, my phone name is AAAA but in My Computer (to access the photos taken by camera), the name appears as BBBB. how to solve this problem? is it bcoz i synced more than two iOS devices on my pc? i have deleted all backups, but still, nothing happen.

I'll wait and see if the jailbreak is stable or not first

i have a feeling that JB on iOS 5 for iPhone 4 will be fast.
But on iPhone 4s, it will be slow.

Guess my iPad2 will have to stay at 4.3.3 until my soon-to-buy iPhone 4S can be jailbroken (expect another 6 months waiting game)

Can SIRI be used on ipod touch?

If SIRI is part of IOS 5, then should be alright but I think it's integrated with iPhone 4S. I could be wrong.

SIRI will be for 4s only while after beta will available to others.

I strongly believe Siri will be available for current idevice via Jailbreak tweak.

I believe SIRI only available for ip4s ...

SIRI is only for iphone 4S
but maybe cydia will have this tweak soon

siri should be the special feature only for iphone 4s

iOS 5 GM up and running on iPhone 4.

it's not leaked. it was made available to developers but does not require UDID registration hence anyone can use it.

Not a big problem for me as well.

iTunes 10.5 with iTunes Match. the GM does not require UDID registration hence anyone who is non-developer can utilise it, provided you have access to the firmware in the first place.

I tried his way just now. It's really work. Just listen to instructions that he said and walla.. you got the new iOS in your iPhone. It is not jailbreak or like that. It is just the same software they gonna release next week. but can be install thru restore way in itunes..

ios 5 GM version no need developer account

i saw many comments said if idevice jailbroken before will got error when updating?

when u want to downgrade also troublesome. after so much hassle, and numerous attempts, only then i managed to downgrade my iphone 3gs to iOS 4.1 (i bought my iphone 2nd hand, previous user only saved SHSH 4.1 and 4.2.1 *facepalm* )

if i downgrade to 4.3.5 will got any problem? i backup my .shsh folder but now i format my comp i don know where should i put back the folder. my tinyumbrella cannot detect the shsh blob

wow!iOS 5 is cool,but something i wil b doubtful that wheather i wan to wait for the jb of iOS5 jz upgrade or jz upgrade becauz nw my idevices has been jb-ed,and mostly the app are paid

mine was jailbroken at 4.3.3. did not restore and went straight to iOS 5 but set up as a new phone rather than restore from backup. zero issues.


i think Apple are still signing 4.3.5.

iOS 5 jailbreak is already available since the betas, just that its tethered. with iOS 5, i don't see the need to jailbreak anymore though i have been living with jailbreak since the old days of firmware 2.0 (not yet renamed as iOS that time).

if i update through itunes for iOS 5, will my contacts, message, settings, etc etc gone?( clicking the update button, not the restore button)
mine current version is iOS 4.3.3

it will auto backup ur details , after restore new ios , it will auto restore back ur backup to ur current phone

Will the phone auto reboot?

Not so leceh just need to make sure you don't install anything from Cydia that requires a reboot like SBSettings, BiteSMS, etc etc .... also must make sure you charge your phone all the time coz if the battery goes out then you need to boot tethered again .... and if you are like me who likes to cycle the battery every couple of weeks, that's another time you need to boot tethered .... other than that, it's okay I guess..

yes .. for sure i will update this ios 5 ... bye bye jailbreak

I've read somewhere, the GM version won't have big different with the official one. My hands were itchy, that's why i choose to install it early and i do really love iOS5 enhancement over iOS4.3.5, especially the notification center and notification appears on the lock screen.

A word of advice to forumer here, do not sync and update your friend device with the same itunes coz it will cause your iPhone name (the popup boz same as pendrive) appears to be your friend instead of yourself.

For my case, before i update to iOS5 GM, i backed up my phone, later i restored it back. All seems normal to me :-)

For those have tried jailbroken iOS5 GM, do you encounter any bug so far? I have heard that SMS was unable to send out or received. This seem a bug after jailbroken.

Currently using ios4.0.1.. My fren helps jb it aeons ago.. I sked to jb it myself.. >.<

My case is like this, im using 4.3.5 before updating to ios5. got glitch, therefore i want to downgrade to 4.3.5 back. checked with TinyUmbrella, only SHSH 4.1 and 4.2.1 available to use. nevermind, downgrade to 4.1 and it is successful. this afternoon, want to update to 4.3.5, itunes wont allow me to do so, got error 1015. been searching for the solution from the web. nothing can be done. straight away update to ios5 back. using restore from backup ios4.1. so far no problem encounter.

I think imessage works like whatsapp while icloud works like Dropbox.

iOS5 and Activator don't play nice together... avoid until activator is updated.

wat about the support on apps? iOS5 supportable on most of the games?

Why only show few of my custom ringtone when in SMS

most of the native apps are supported as developers are given the iOS 5 betas to test with their apps prior to the final release.

When iOS 5 launch, all the apps will be updated to support iOS 5. No worries about that.

I noticed that when snapping photo using default camera, the shutter is bit slower compared to ios4.3.5. Anyone facing the same problem?

It will be auto appear on all Iphone that there will be 1 notification on the 12th showing that we can update OTA? I heard it will appear notification at setting there.

Nola. u need to download the iOS 5 (800mb ++) and update. Future updates only can update OTA

Not sure how to more for unthetered JB on IOS5.. I won't touch it until the it can be JB... Hope Chronic dev team can release it ASAP..

The only different is that the IOS 5 GM will expired.. Normally GM release is the exact same release that we will get... But, the IOS5 GM release has the expiration.. So, no choice have to wait..
