It'll be just like Whatsapp. Only thing is that Whatsapp ties your identity down to your phone number, and places a restriction on that. That restriction can be easily removed to have Whatsapp run on non-cellular devices. iMessage would obviously use Apple ID much like BBM uses a PIN. iMessage still requires data though - either 3G or Wi-Fi.

Wonder if iMessage actually brings anything to the table. Coming way too late.

*WHEN* iOS 5 officially launched? Shouldn't it be launched already by now? It should be launched 12 midnight on 12th October US time right? San Francisco is already pass 1 am now.

Guys, i purchased my ip4 from maxis. Do i need to wait for an unlock or something ? I know there's no need to do so but my college mate told me to wait for an unlock.

if u got ur contact's phone number n email

when u wan send via imessage u must type their name and choose the one with email add

if not will send via sms (u can choose to off this )

ive read in the apple discussion, the imessage should work on all connection.. but just now tested with daishi, the first message will always be the cellular.. charged as normal sms  but the sequence would be on imessage.. so if u turn on the airplane mode, most likely u will not be able to use it at all.. becoz the first message wont go through.. it needs the cellular sms for the first message..

not phone number

so if got email it will be free

Hi guys. Just one question here. I've already upgraded my OS to 5.0. The problem is after installed it to my iPhone, iMessage icon don't appear or dont exist at all. Can someone please explain. Thanx guys.

normal usage as in sms,whatsapp,fb and no calls..most of the time it will let idle without touching it..i've disable the weather widget in the notification area,and only on the normal push notification for mail,fb and whatsapp..because before i update the phone to 4.3.5,it was at 4.3.1..that time the battery life is even more great..i only need to charge it once a day.(normal usage like now,and some light gaming with angry bird).

Agree with people here. iOS 5 is a brilliant update, not due to any one big change, but the hundreds of little ones, making this OS feel so much more mature. Love these new features:

Notification center
iMessage (use it a lot with my family)
Reminders (use this a lot too)
Camera button and also camera access straight from locked mode
Assistive Touch, save home button clicks
From your camera, you can now swipe to your camera roll
Calendar - in day view, you can swipe for different days
iMessage - you can Facetime your iMessage contacts directly from within iMessage

Oh and my absolute favourite, Reader feature of Safari. I like to email articles to my family, and not just links, cos they malas to open. Sometimes a hassle to cut paste.

Now, like in desktop Safari, Reader feature is here. Try and load any article online, or blog or whatever, once fully loaded, "reader" button appears in the Safari address bar. Click it, and it will just take the pics and text, and get rid of advertisements etc. You can then email directly from there.
