It'll be just like Whatsapp. Only thing is that Whatsapp ties your identity down to your phone number, and places a restriction on that. That restriction can be easily removed to have Whatsapp run on non-cellular devices. iMessage would obviously use Apple ID much like BBM uses a PIN. iMessage still requires data though - either 3G or Wi-Fi.

i would rather iMessage connect using phone number OR/AND apple ID. if there is no phone number then it will find for ur apple id.. i love the way whatsapp pulls other ppls number without much hassle. easy to find friends rather than asking them for their email etc..Wonder if iMessage actually brings anything to the table.
