LED, modulo skirt there got LED.

Hey guys,
I think this question was asked before with no answer. Does anyone know if the k & n air filter is a good thing to add on to the insight? My SA told me that it is not recommended but K & N is well known and I noticed good pick up with my current car, (until my insight arrives) |

Your MAF and MAP sensor intelligent enough to sense the different and ignore it according to fuel mapping... |

do u guys notice when u accidentally didn't closed the door properly. the alarm doesn't trigger to indicate that u did not closed the door securely every time u lock the car using remote?? theres no beeep beep sound....

Back from Ipoh, now my insight clocked 770km, still got more than 1/4 petrol left.
Econ mode on, average speed 90km/h. After run in I will off Econ mode and drive like any other car and see what's the fuel consumption will be. |

anyone fitted daytime running LED lights (white) to their Insight? I saw one being fitted to a Merc today.
No need drill holes... the LED lights strip just need to 'clamp' on the bottom front grille area.... quite nice... (pity i didn't take a photo show u guys). Got such thing as a LED lamp clamp? |

The SA told me if the door is not closed properly, you cannot lock your car. The button on the remote will not able to press. How come got so many different scenarios?

Hi, I'm still considering of getting an I2 but I am worry about how the IMA battery is going to react under the hot sun in this country. From what I've read from I2 owners in other country, the IMA battery will discharge by itself under hot weather and this will cause loss of power because the electric motor will not be able to assist. This also will greatly shorten the lifespan of the battery. This happened alot in the Civic Hybrid and the the IMA system used in the CIVIC is the same as in the one in I2.
Do any of the Malaysian I2 owner face problem with the IMA battery especially when parked under the hot sun for long period of time? |

I just hope what u guys said are right because all of the comments from people in the US facing problem with the IMA battery only happens during summer time.
Also the IMA Battery warranty is only applicable if the IMA System failure indicator appears. Meaning if your IMA battery shut-off or has lower charge to assist the engine and causes the milleage performance to drop but is not fully failing, Honda Malaysia won't replaced it. Maybe I should wait a little while before getting one. Thanks for all the feedback. |

Does anyone know about this brand of tint?
dono worth to take it or not... rm1700, got 1 time free replacement if screen kena break in. 10 year warranty somemore. tested to feel the heat from IR lamp... very good anywhere. it's at SS2 near RHB bank there, intro by SA. someone please enlighten me which tint to go for.....

I'm just curious on engine service for hybrid car, petrol/diesel car based on mileage.. Hybrid car, if most of time or 50% on the road use electric motor so mileage can not use as reference to change engine oil & etc.. Can owner hybrid car explain it here...

hi. i havent got my insight yet. my SA contacted me last week saying that the modulo bodykit will arrive within this week and he quoted me Rm2800 as the body kit contains led (i dunno whre it will be put). if the body kit happyman is planning to buy is cheaper than count me in!

Wanna ask u guys who gone through 5k service. How was it?
I'm a bit skeptical on whether HM technician competent enough to properly maintain Honda Insight. As i remembered, some of earlier Honda City with CVT (2003) was incorrectly maintain, using normal ATF despite CVTF which cause some earlier batch facing premature gearbox problem. So much for an authorized service center for doing that mistakes. This time they are facing a very new tech hybrid vehicle. Anything can go wrong if they didnt conduct proper service and didnt have enough training & experience. Even worst as the car was not assemble by Honda Malaysia so the technical know-how is very limited. Can we trust them? |

Regarding the maintenance pricing, I feel shock when I see it in Honda Malaysia website. The pricing is more expensive than Civic and Accord.
 Why? because of Hybrid technology? I thought it should be cheaper.  |

For material comparison, you can just google up and read yourself... No point I like opening lecture session on materials.
If bro Happyman managed to get anything less than RM1300, yup it is from supplier.. Else, its retailer with all painting, installation done. |

I have tried the inside hybrid but seems that the power is lower than the civic hybrid...
Overall tech the inside is batter but power wise is still civic batter. If not mistaken the civic can run on pure battery for 0kmh - 40kmh after that petrol engine kick in ... But for the inside when move petrol engine already start to run the battery engine is just assisting the petrol engine event when the eco mode is on … |

Some of them just maintain the car themselves and kept everything recorded in case something major gone wrong. They did mention that this car servicing and maintenance item is just the same like any other normal cars. Some of them even bought the service manual and take things on their own hands. Modulo kit is the one in Honda alpha package. No photo yet. No spoiler. Just front spoiler, side skirts, rear spoiler, led light. All OEM, PP materials, RM1650 all in.

cool im in. i met with my sa today n pay downpayment. i asked what if i buy d bodykit outside he said will void d waranty..kinda worries me.. n he did told me my batch is d last batch of hybrid to be sold by global amity. next batch is delayed 1-3 month n even say d price will go up to RM120,000. btw my car arrived at port 1/4/2011..after d tsunami..

Yes, it is the exact same one as Honda Alpha Package Modulo. Same material and design. Honda Malaysia's Modulo bodykit set doesn't come with LED yes. It is an additional feature direct from Modulo themselves. The lights will be installed at the side skirt. And I don't have any actual photos yet. Only prototype photos because we have not yet bring in the items to install on actual vehicles. But if you guys don't want the LED light, it will be cheaper definitely"

Bodykits indeed didn't void warranty... Please refer manual...
However, to be honest it is really down to the relationship part with SC and managers... If you are good with them, you mod those ICE or something, they still tutup satu mata for that. |

Finally, clocked 1060km. The fuel indicator needle is touching the word E but I believe still can go another 50km but dare not to try. Pump another full tank, Caltex RON95, RM66.65. 85% highway, 15% city.

Yes, no joke but you have to drive the way I drive. Keep looking at the display, monitoring the FC, econ mode on, low air cond speed, release pedal whenever theres a chance to do, very very easy on the foot, average speed 70 - 85km/h, mostly highway driving.
I dont think I can match those owners from insightcentral. 95MPG, thats around 1550km from a tank of petrol. |

After I clocked 500km the range show another 750km, then it became 0 once I reached 950km.
1250 - 1300km is doable if 100% highway driving. |

An update to all folks looking to book Insight now: i spoke to my SA few hrs ago, and yes, the reports are right - Honda Japan has stopped production.
Most Honda MYS are no longer taking orders BUT there are some smaller outlets in the small towns (like where I got mine from - Kulim, Kedah).. that have some "extra unassigned" Insights up for grabs. Only modulo at the moment. Mugen kit makes the car sit lower to the ground and you definitely need bigger wheels.

The car is ready stock. Yes, he said that they were ordered not to take anymore booking by HM. Another 1 black Insight is still available. Oh, sorry I didn't mention earlier, I'm in Terengganu.

Embarrassing moments with honda insight is that your passengers complain that your aircon is not cool (new car some-more) although hearing the aircon is blowing. You need to explain to them that the eco mode is on n ac is off but not the blower. Honda insight shall improve its aircon panel display indicating that the ac is off when this happen, it will be perfect then.

I got that complaint yesterday as I was carrying 4 other passengers who wanted to try out the car. They were all saying it's hot when the car stopped.. Because highway you don't need motor assist once you cruising in steady speed, your 1.3 engine acts alone like normal car only...

since i will get my honda insight next week, i will sell away my less than one year old honda city (bought last year may).

Hypermilling tips when you run using autocruise;
Try to reduce blue zone/maintain green zone at incline by inching down on the set speed using Decel/SET button. The car will obviously slows down getting up the hill, depending on the degree of incline. When the car going downhill, press Accel/RES button to extend the green zone and speed up the car. By then will got enough momentum for the next slope. More green zone, better mileage. In the meantime your legs are still rest free. Quite exciting. Like playing game using joystick. Have a try. |

May even have to wait until June July... this is so frustrating, no point in cancelling it now, just have to wait... Should've bought it from those ulu ulu places where the SA is allocated cars, but with minimum buyers.. Instead, went with a reputable dealer, and ended up wait wait wait.... |

I borrowed my colleague insight and I was able to get 25.2km/l from Bukit Jalil -> Dengkil -> KLIA -> Dengkil -> MEX -> KL. I think whole journey was 160km. There were 5~6 traffic lights and hill slopes. The car havent break-in yet @ 403km when I drove it that time. I think the key is the pedal control and traffic anticipation. I record this using trip B right from my home car park. During down hill slope, I stop the cruise control and glide on battery then when the speed starting to reduce I restart the cruise control. When nearing a traffic light, stop the cruise control and glide to traffic light then slow down to recharge the battery. I set the cruise control at 85~90km/h. Another note is that, I found that I need to accelerate quickly (turn to light blue) to overcome the gear-drag (you feel slight change and also reduced rpm) then glide on battery, I feel this is more efficient than slowly accelerate. If possible try reverse parking and facing out, it will help on FC. Anyway still waiting for my own insight....!!! |

When I was away in Phnom Penh for 2 weeks, My dad drove my car and he said the car feel twice as fast with the Econ off.

for those who tried to test their mileage, do the manual calculation also, in my experience, it is more accurate and satisfying, but i do admit driving in city less than 50 km/h with lots of traffic jams and bumpers will hurt the mileage too

Anybody used to A.SEL (auto-select) on the FM radio? What is the different between A.SEL and RDS?
Reading Insight manual, i understand that using A.SEL, the radio can maintain 1 station for long journey when the frequency changes according to areas. I believe RDS also meant for that. Does Insight A.SEL function well? |

Hi Westlife, I know Cobra Connex does not come cheap but you will feel safe with it installed. However, can it be detected if your car is underground or inside the container truck?

1 of my customers using hybrid car (toyota Prius) want to service their car.. using 5wXX and 0w50 the car engine having a problem.. and he check the manual.. the hybrid car need to used at least 0w20.. and he buy from me 0w20 ENEOS..and the problem disappear

just completed my first 1k service at the SC in puchong....just general overview check + free car wash
time taken was just 45 mins waiting time to collect my car asked about the cost for the scheduled maintenance but the service advisor said that it is not available yet.. the next 5k & 10k service will be completely FOC... |

getting my white Insight nxt Mon. immediately going to make the flwg changes:
1. Replace stock projector H11 bulbs w/HIDs (4300k). 2. For the high beams, replace w/Philips XXXPower (20% longer beam) 3. Get my mechanic to install a beeper, so when I lock, got BEEP-BEEP sound (easier to tell if you locked your car) 4. Get my mechanic rewire the side mirrors... so that when I stop engine, the mirros auto fold-in, and auto-fold out when I start engine. 5. Put in PPS (Sierra Glow not very popular in PG). 6. Replace stock tweeters & 2-ways with my own speakers. Add in 4-channel amp, but keep the HU. Itu saja. For now. hehe. any comments? (yes I know some of these stuff will void certain warranty parts). |

Added on April 15, 2011, 11:36 pm yes, u feel safe, and the worthy part it comes with extra compensation of damage or stolen, it adds on top of car insurance compensation which is very good. rm36xx for one time installation including first year annual fee. after that every year paid rm360. cobra connex uses two technology for communication, one is GPS one is Cellular network. so when car is within building or underground, mobile network will kick in, as long as got mobile network, it is still safe. but of course, u try not to park too deeper level of undergound la. |

just a quick question. I was asking about neo glass coating at a shop but i was been advised to use SONAX nano paint coating nanopro as it is few hundred ringgit cheaper and still the same. What do you guys think of this brand from germany? Has anybody use it before?

usually for new car, it's is advised not to polish for the first 2-3 months
if wax also use soft wax this is to allow the paint to properly cure but i guess the insight would have been at least 2 months old upon delivery, so should be fine |

Wash only can or d paint will not last long. for me i won't do polish at least for more than one year lo.my NHC almost 1 year liao, i nvr even polish once b4. still quite shiny after wash. The reason why is that once you placed a booking, some banks will be calling you the next few days to get your application and if not approve, the first 1-2 weeks the dealer will know and already cross you off their waiting list.I'm sure those orders in front of me already kautim their loans long time ago |

Folks; anyone know which showrooms still have ready stock of the Insight? Went to a couple of showrooms last weekend, and all were sold out. Restock of the Insight is said to be 6-8 months long as production was affected by the recent Japanese disaster.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Today i turned off radio and when accelerate I hear some very slight grinding noise, not sure if ts from the electric motor or gearbox, no noise when back off the pedal. Anyone hears the same noise from their insight?
Also, anyone check their tyres pressure? I find my insight's ride a bit harsh on rough road and hope it can be improved by decrease a bit of tyre pressure. The grinding noise only can be heard when radio is off and when you accellerate, not loud but if you pay attention it can be heard. Apart from this everything else is perfectly fine. |

The noise is not from the glove box.
It is only audible when accelerate, and off when decelerate. It seems that I am not alone here and I guess it is related to the electric motor. Also, I just checked the tyre pressure. It is 315KPA at the front and 310 KPA at the rear, this caused the harsh ride for the past 2 weeks. I have decreased the tyre pressure to 230KPA front and 220KPA rear as recommended by Honda. The ride now is so much softer and quiet, but expect significant drop in FC as well as life span of the bridgestone turanza. |

PASIR MAS: The government will continue to give special incentives to electric, hybrid and environment friendly cars assembled in the country. Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir said among them were tax exemptions so that these cars could be affordable for the people from all levels of society. "To date, several companies have applied to assemble environment friendly cars but the government understands that they are still in the process of setting up capacities. "These incentives are supposed to be there until end of this year but we might continue to give them for next year ...to that these companies are able to set up their vehicle manufacturing plants as soon as possible," he said after officiating the 41st annual general meeting of the Sultan Ibrahim 1 Secondary School here Monday. Mukhriz said the government would also at the same time seriously consider applications from conventional car producers for the production of vehicles that emit less carbon monoxide and with lower fuel consumption. Incentives will be also given to such vehicles which are capable of competing with electric and hybrid cars, he said. Just got keys to my Insight today... now playing w/the menu and customizations
Qs to other INS owners - can we change the auto door lock setting so that it auto locks when the car starts/when it drives above XX km/h? I checked the manual - this "auto door lock" function only seems available w/the "south africa" Insight model. The instructions to enable auto door lock doesn't work for me... anyone know? |

mine is white... got it tinted (LLumar T4-50... charcoal black, 90% IR rejection) already. this wkend gonna get it PPS-ed
so far so good. lots of stuff to modify... (i will get my mechanic to enable the door auto-lock for me - he's a master technician @ rewiring stuff), will do that after 1st service |

went to see my SA today..handing over my pre-registered car no. But suddenly got not so good news. i still have to wait till next month (not in 2 weeks) to get my lovely hybrid. anyway still ok since i suppose to get my car in July.
Spend time to borak2 with him. my SA told me the auto door lock will void warranty and is not recommendable. he also recommend Cobra Connex which i think good investment. oh ya..i also order trunk tray together with my car. anyone bought tis trunk tray. ori one price RM400++? Yes it was 315kpa front and 310kpa rear and I was shocked too. I think this may explain the superb FC and harsh ride for the past 2 weeks.

Apparently, Honda SAs will get RM1k or so, for every Insight sold. Same comm level as selling City. But my SA said after deduct the freebies they give you... stuff like free mats, free tinting etc, then their comm is less. Their basic pay is RM400/mth only. Usually for normal air, you might need to refill at least once/ twice per month. While for nitrogen gas, just refill after 3 to 4 months. Even overreved the engine to look for any weird noise. I like CVT but the over rev part is not really desirable. See Jazz CBU 2003-2004 now still fetch above rm50k albeit very old car. i had just met an car accident on my insight ytd... due to the stupid faulty traffic light..my bumper was dented...went to honda service center and consult the service advisor was being told that bumper replacement would simply cost above 2k and the lead time for shipping is unknown (could take up to 1-2 months)...luckily, the advisor said that there is no crack (CBU made bumpers were tough) and the dented part would be easily being repaired by knocking and respraying the paint which would cost roughly RM 550 if there is no local assemble parts, i think the future resale value of this car would be very low.. if you are the 2nd hand buyer, would you want to get through such a hassle for parts replacement? not to mention that the price for the spare parts are neither decent ... |

I used another 2GB then it's ok, no problem.I guess some pen drive may have this issue. BTW the different 1GB and 2GB i used was 1GB = USB 1.1 & 2GB = USB 2.0. |

and also the auto head lamp.... can we adjust the sensitivity for the sensor?
This morning around 7:20am at KESAS, it's consider bright already (which most of the car lights are off) and when i turn on my auto headlamp, the lights are ON. |
