to anyone wanting to buy a Cooler Master NotePal Infinite for their brand new XPS, I strongly suggest you don't. I've just purchased one this afternoon and did some temp testings and found out that there's totally no difference in the temperature at all. I had a Cooler Master NotePal U2 and it effectively lowers the temperature of the laptop.. I strongly recommend U2 instead of infinite. save your $$!

Cooler Master U2 comes with 2 fans by default. Position 1 of the fan under the top left, just right under the laptop main vent, and the other one either in the middle region or slightly left to the touchpad should be the best locations. More fans can be bought from computer shops, specifically for U2 and U3 cooler pad, around RM20-25... (which i saw at All-IT Hypermarket, and also A-One plus)

Added on December 10, 2010, 12:32 pmIf don't have the budget to get a decent cooler pad, just find something like cubes, books, etc, to elevate the top left and right corner bottom, or all 4 corners of the laptop. Keep a good distance between bottom of the laptop and the desk or other surface you put ur laptop on. This will improve the air flow and at the same time improve the heat dissipation of the laptop. Don't ever occlude the laptop vents, which can easily cause laptop to overheat.

idle temp is around 45 to 50....normal load(watching movie, music player and web browsing) around 55++ and gaming around 70++

WTF. Seriously, wtf. If you guys go and take a look at the Dell site now, the FHD B+RGLED is not available as an option anymore. And I'm leaving for camp tomorrow. Perfect timing lah, Dell. Just when I wanted to buy it, it goes out of stock.

Well I'll be damned, it's true. Based on the replies I got from the old thread, I guess that the FHD1080p screens might delay their production, so maybe thats a reason why they took it out of the selection. Im just saying

I don't mind the wait, I do a lot of photo work so the B+RGLED is the closest I can get to the real RGBLED offered in the SXPS 16. Yet they HAD to take it off, and I'm leaving first thing in the morning tomorrow, so there's my hopes destroyed of being able to shave 4 days off the waiting time. Bloody hell, frustrated. Baru baru only somemore. Yesterday wanted to place the order, but not free, today wanna place order, gone.     

Difference between SXPS and XPS 15 quite a bit.
VGA port, Speakers, Display quality (upgraded xps screen better than stock sxps screen, but upgraded sxps screen wins)
Price (XPS 15 is cheaper). Graphic card (has Dx11 on the XPS 15) Design, (imo XPS 15 much nicer) USB 3.0 ports (not really a mojor difference...)

Hmm if im not mistaken, sxps 16's upgraded lcd should be better than xps 15's upgraded lcd

hi guys, i'm thinking of returning my CM Notepal infinite back to the store that i bought it from..
they have lots of other CM notebook coolers too but the problem is, i cant decide which one i should exchange it for. (doesn't matter if its equal/lower/or higher price)
should i get X1, X2 or U3?
X1 has an extra USB port that would be useful to me but it has only one big + unremovable fan and the fan is 120mm.
X2 has an extra USB port too, but it has only one big and also unremovable fan. but the fan is 140mm
U3 has 3 removable fans, and too has one extra USB port. though the fan controller is an extra plus.

i wanna know what you guys think.. all opinions and suggestions welcome

p.s.  weight and portability don't matter to me since i dont plan to take it around.. it's just gonna be on my desk.
