QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Oct 21 2010, 08:52 PM) Also note the pricing, lower than SXPS16. Almost similar to Studio 15. Is it a good thing? Really curious about the JBL subwoofer cos usually only available at >rm3000~4000 system.Added on October 21, 2010, 9:03 pm QUOTE(highwind85 @ Oct 21 2010, 08:52 PM) This post has been edited by Borsch Soup: Oct 21 2010, 09:03 PM |

You can't say the price is lower.
The price you mentioned is for GT420M and i5-460M only. This is Before GT435M + i7, Backlit Keyboard, Bluetooth, Full HD screen. Those features are Already included in Studio XPS 16. Added on October 21, 2010, 9:06 pmWe have been discussing it here, although it should probably be renamed to Dell XPS / Studio XPS http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry37207023 This post has been edited by LightningFist: Oct 21 2010, 09:06 PM |

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Oct 21 2010, 09:05 PM) You can't say the price is lower. But for basic gamer GT420M is good enough, my 4741G using that GPU, very satisfied, plus the price with JBL subwoofer, no other competitors can match it.The price you mentioned is for GT420M and i5-460M only. Let me tell you something I've used JBL Subwoofer on a laptop it is terribly soft and of poor quality. One certainly does not need to be charged a huge amount for it.

Knockout? You are totally forgetting that is the converted US price.
Check the US price of a Studio XPS 16, or an Asus G53JW, or a MBP, and think again. |

QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Oct 21 2010, 08:52 PM) +1.... it looks rather ugly for an XPS The Inspiron-like hinges definitely cannot support a monitor size of 15 inches... sure will wobble 1 But the specs are good~ Added on October 21, 2010, 10:23 pm QUOTE(astria @ Oct 21 2010, 09:53 PM) I guess by omitting the numpad the laptop will look nicer because of the much balanced proportion.... Just like how the SXPS16 keyboard is better looking than that of the Qosmio F60 Simple is best imho~ This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Oct 21 2010, 10:23 PM |

well, the hinge is similar to the one on my Asus N81V, though mine is way bigger than XPS...
i thought now the trend is let the monitor to sink a little for easier viewing??? honestly, the design is really like the old Asus N series... This post has been edited by astria: Oct 21 2010, 10:27 PM |

Well, Alienware has 19200x1200 vs 1600x900 of XPS 17.
XPS 17 has GT445M 3GB but not GDDR5/GDDR3. Added on October 22, 2010, 12:21 amUp already, starting RM2999 with i3. But cannot buy yet. Zzz i3. Added on October 22, 2010, 12:48 amOK buyable now. Added on October 22, 2010, 1:29 amForget it. Crappy options, not worth it. Waiting for next gen laptops with AMD or Sandy Bridge. This post has been edited by LightningFist: Oct 22 2010, 01:29 AM |

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Oct 21 2010, 10:12 PM) Knockout? You are totally forgetting that is the converted US price. Nowadays the new products coming out have similar price tag in Malaysia as well in case you haven't noticed.. Look at the recent M101Z... Price tag in Malaysia is similar to USA and other parts of the world is selling it at least RM2k+.. Another one is the new MacBook Air.... USD 999, Malaysia selling it for RM3299... That's almost direct conversion already... G series is a whole diff story I guess.. Many factors affecting it also..Check the US price of a Studio XPS 16, or an Asus G53JW, or a MBP, and think again. |
