Another question guys,

Once I've installed the unifi, my desktop will no longer using Ethernet cable anymore but Wifi since the equipments are located downstair. Does this affect the speed drastically?
*
It is yes for me..

If i use WIFI for my desktop i only get 2MBPS instead of 10MBPS..

In the end i use long-cable Ethernet whistling.gif thumbup.gif

What if I sacrifice the STB, I put everything in my room so I use back Ethernet cable. Do you guys think this is stupid?

ps: And this is very important question. If I off the BTU, will the phone work?

Don't need to sacrifice STB, just use a pair of homeplugs to connect to your STB.
No, if you turn off BTU, phone will not work.

Do you choose to purchase option power cord as recommended in roc site? Is the standard power cord provided in the package sufficient for Malaysia 230V?

@alex

You probably want the UK power supply option which should be compatible with Malaysia. My own RB250GS was given to me by klseet (thanks!).. he bought it from Soliton in Singapore.

Hi Riz,

I'm trying to setup a wireless connection between RB250GS to IPTV STB, I can bridge the 2 routers but IPTV still won't function .... sad.gif

This is what I've done:

Equipments:
Buffalo WHR-G300N-HP [dd-wrt] setup as AP, setup "Auto DHCP" WAN type
Buffalo WCR-GN [stock firmware] setup as WDS bridge mode

RB250GS[LAN4] -----> [WAN]WHR-G300N-HP <--[wireless bridging]--> WCR-GN[LAN] ----> IPTV

Anything I've done wrong? rclxub.gif

Is the IPTV unit able to get an IP address from the DHCP server during the loading phase?

Can anyone please tell me DIR-15 cannot be portforwarded means no BT?

Why not just use uPnP? Don't need to manually forward port on router.

Thanks Riz, this is really great news man! rclxms.gif

I followed your configuration, except I use LAN5 to connect the BTU and LAN4 to IPTV, now my setup as follow:

Huawei BTU[LAN1] ----> [WAN]Buffalo WHR-G300N(PPPoE profile+VLAN?.500 tagged)[LANs/WiFi] ----> Computers
Huawei BTU[LAN2] ----> [LAN5]RB250GS[LAN4] ----> IPTV STB

I now can pack the DIR-615 to store room liao!! tongue.gif
Isn't this also means that you can also use DIR-615 flashed with DD-WRT firmware as the router for the computers/wifi? Since DIR-615 issue most probably due to TM's firmware. So for person who do not have an existing custom router would only have to buy RB250GS, and just flashed the TM's DIR-615 with DD-WRT?

Logically should work, since DIR-615 is just another router.

But somehow.... TM version of 615 are really special in terms of reliability issue. sweat.gif

Actually you can use any router, with or without dd-wrt, as long as it can create VLAN?.500 tagging then connect directly to the Huawei BTU.
If you flash the DIR-615 with dd-wrt, yes you can connect to internet nicely, but you will lose the IPTV.

The problem is that I'm unable to create both VLAN.500 & 600 on a dd-wrt router, therefore the RB250GS comes into picture to create the necessary VLANs nicely so I don't have to bother on flashing dd-wrt or creating VLAN tagging on router, you can even just connect your current router to it just change the PPPoE to UniFi user ID & password icon_rolleyes.gif

Previously Alpha Wolf suggested that dd-wrt Broadcom chipset might do the job, I tried on ASUS-RT-N12 and Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 but without any luck:

Also Acrisius posted here [#1251] that the internet is working fine on his N16:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1502636/+1240

Hope someone who has done it successfully willing to share how to setup smile.gif

Meanwhile, I'm settling down with the RB250GS and is happy with the following connection: rclxms.gif
Huawei BTU[LAN1]----> [LAN5]RB250GS[LAN3] ----> Router(without tagging)
......................................................[LAN4] ----> IPTV STB

And this was one of the reason I insisted myself to replace it ... sweat.gif
