The DIR-615 seems to have a habit of hanging the wifi connections. I get this all the time. You seem to be connected, but you cannot access the internet and local network, so you can't even access the router.

To fix this, I usually just manually disconnect the router and reconnect. This should normally fix things.

I heard some ppl try setting power to 50%. But the problem still persists for me. No setting I have tried can fix this permanently.
*
Have you try reset to defaults? What I did was to reset to defaults, use admin account to set internet and wireless settings up, then save firmware to disk for backup. After that use operator account to login and disable remote management and tr069. My wireless has been working 24/7 for more than a week now.

Guys...i want to ask..how to teminate streamyx if i already upgrade to UNIFI?

Can someone tell me step by step?Like what i need to bring, what i need to tell to operator ..etc?

1. Go to TM Point
2. ??
3. ??

Will i be charged since my streamyx contract long more to go?
*
Go to TMpoint and fill up service cancellation form. Existing ctreamyx contract period does not matter, all Unifi customers starts off a new 2 year contract.

I know..but what to tell them?
Say that im upgrading to UNIFI?

What i need to bring?

Streamyx bill?
*
No need to bring bill, they'll fill in those parts for you. Bring back the modem/phone set (if any) and make sure the serials are noted down in the form. The most updated cancellation form has Unifi upgrade as one of the cancellation reason.

My router is placed on an old unused metal-casing router which incidentally acts as a heat sink. It is also attached to a surge protector. I wonder if those measures helped...hmmm... :hmm:
*
I'm planning to test this hypothesis by placing the router above my BTU and see if the wireless fails in the morning. So far I've placed it next to each other.

Guyz, how many days does it take to terminate the old fixed line+streamyx??
Submit my termination form last monday but until today still can use..Huhu
*
14 days as stated on the termination form itself. Anything faster is a bonus and anything slower, you should follow up with the TMpoint you submit the form at.

Does TM betray appointment?

They said coming my house today 1030AM but still not yet come..

How eh? :x
*
The installer team will usually call the day before to confirm appointment time, but as with anyone else, mistakes and delays can happen.

Eh guys..i want to ask something..

What happend if i terminate streamyx late?

Example :

Applied UNIFI on 9th August.
Terminate Streamyx/Phone on 25 August.

What will happend eh?I need to pay RM 150(2MB) for my streamyx for that month?

Or no need pay?
*
Terminate phone line and Streamyx is up to 14 days from application date to terminate, you'll still need to pay until the day they cut your line.

Had problem with Youtube HD today. Normally everything streams smooth and fast, but tonight anything that is HD is super slow. Anything that is 480 and below is ok.

Could it be that TM throttle Unifi users from Youtube HD? I'm going to be really pissed if this is the case.
*
Just tried randomly picking a 720 8+ mins video on Youtube, streamed fine in real time.

Private IP is the IP address of the computer to be forwarded to, public IP can be left blank.

Hi everybody,
Subscribe to the VIP5 plan but have some nagging questions abt unit set-up. Is is possible to separate the fiberhome , DIR165 unit and the IPTV console from one another with long cables. If possible , what sort of cables is required?

The reason is i prefer  to have the  DIR165 unit in the room upstairs, wired to PC and cables to the rest. Ask UNIFI but they said technition would access on site visit which I believe it's too late by then to discuss set up.

From the forum, i read it's possible to use your old copper wiring for existing phone lines with with cable attachement to phone line socket, in order to reuse all your phone sockets. Is this abt right?

I hope some be able to help  elleviate my concerns  abt this.
*
Fiber to BTU, then from BTU will be RJ11 phone cable your existing phone socket and RJ45 network cable to DIR615. From DIR615 are RJ45 cables to computers and STB. The RJ45 cables can be up to 100m in length, should be long enough for what you need.

Firstly, I would like to thanks everyone for your assistance to enlighten me abt my dilemma. An additional question, abt RJ45 cables can be up to 100m in length, should be long enough for what you need, bcos I would need abt 60 ft to connect to the STB, from my main BTU/DIR165, would the video/audio quality be compromised? Thanks.

Oh yeah, does the homeplug works on IPTV, as earlier today, that UNIFI sales mentioned that they are still testing it and is still unstable for proper tv viewing. Is this true as some of you have used it , i assume without problems.  :respect:
*
100m is the maximum length for Cat 5e RJ45 cables to operate at 100Mbps, you should not experience any drop in quality. You can probably even exceed this by 10% and still get reliable 100Mbps operation.

Ethernet over power lines is not as stable as using a network cable the entire length, if you can't avoid using it then as some forumers have tried, it usually works.

After install UniFi VIP5 for 3 days and Download about 120GB .. my DIR-615 G1 Router Start Not working ..Keep getting Orange in UniFi Signal  ..Need to wait for 4 Days until the TM people come to Replace it .. Why TM Just want to Make More $$$$ .. But Can't even give us better Modem ... ~.~  :furious:  :furious:
*
DIR615 is the cheapest dual-antennae wireless N router in the market right now with USB sharing feature, can't blame TM for picking this model. My unit has been working fine for about a month now.

i wanna make sure my issit ada coverage or not...
i already summit apply form at TM point last month...
till now no one call me yet... ><
*
If you submit form directly to TMpoint, you should get a printout showing your Unifi ID details and installation date. If you didn't get it, most likely the form wasn't submitted properly. Call Unifi or go back to TMpoint to confirm.

Why not just use uPnP? Don't need to manually forward port on router.

This is not CS fault, Unifi applicants was supposed to get the option to auto cancel Streamyx. This was eventually finalised into manual cancellation.

Note: I do not work for TM but the above is based on industry observation.

ok, thanks :)

I read this "VDSL2 does not require drilling since UniFi connection will come from the existing phone jack in your home or office. For this premise type, indoor installation requires minimal setup time."

I am stay in landed home, I saw the Unify official site photo info, VDSL2 to High-rise.
Can i choose VDSL2 for landed home?

cause I do not wish to have any additional/new wiring come into my house.
*
Landed properties are fibre only, you can place the BTU very near a window so that the drilling will be minimized. You might be able to talk the installer into going through a window but fibre is quite fragile, can break quite easily if bent too much.

From BTU to DIR615 router for internet and phone line to existing lines if you wish to reuse.

Hi Sohlican,

Are u using the splitter that came in the package?

Care to share ur setup?

Thanks!
*
No splitter involved, the BTU provides a phone socket which emulates a normal line quite well.
