I just called to subscribe. After reading 64 pages, my eyes are blur and worrying due to the DIR-615 frying issue.

When users mentioned DIR165 malfunction or burn, does it mean it catches fire or just stop functioning, as could'nt monitor the unit 24/7.  Just would like to know in case the unthinkable happens. Thanks

Best quote for the whole thread! biggrin.gif just kidding ok? tongue.gif

Hi Guys,

Does anybody of you have and/or know how to access the alcatel BTU to do some reconfiguration of it ? I would like to know some basics about it before i start. I would like to get the SIP out of the box into the correct box & reconfigure it so it is not accessible from outside as I heard.

Anybody with a starting point around here ?

Regards,

Gompf

Yes you should if you get that kind of speed consistently. If you only get 5-6mbps on VIP/BIZ10, might as well you go for the 5mbps package instead.

Want specification of switch is require to replace the D-link DIR-615? Do we have similar switch that is more easily available in Malaysia to recommend in stead of Mikrotek RB250GS?

It needs to support port based and tag based VLANs. The RB250GS is probably the cheapest and most easily accessible managed switch on the market at the moment. It's also already been tested by 4 people here and confirmed to be working well with Unifi.

Does this also mean BT will not be working?

Btw, the lady called to confirm me the installation date. She asked me to prepare 4 extension plugs. What does this mean?

4 x port extension power cord for 3 pin.

This is for the devices that you will be getting from them for usage. BTU(Fiber Optic Modem), DIR-615(Router/Switch/WiFi AP), STB(IPTV Device), DECT Phone (Cordless Phone)

Of course it depends if you want to put all these 4 device together in one place. Anyway asking you to do this is just for testing purpose for their technician.

The problem right now is RB250GS only available in Singapore and already out of stock due to overhelming demand from Unifi users.
