Ok, this is good to know. My ABMB ATM card has the Cirrus logo. I'll call them up to confirm and see if there's any overseas withdrawal fees. BTW, what about the "Maestro" logo?

the usual withdrawal fee for PLUS and CIRRUS networks are RM10-12 from some googling i did.

Always try to withdraw using your ATM card (must have either the Cirrus or PLUS logo) from overseas ATM machine.

Charges range from:
Zero. For HSBC Premier ATM card from any overseas HSBC ATM machine. I am sure citibank will have something similar.

RM5. Normal HSBC ATM card from any overseas HSBC ATM machine.

RM10-12. For most cards from any overseas ATM machine.

Using credit card to withdraw will result in 5% extra charge on top of the above charges. So use it as a last resort.

As for foreign currency exchange rate. Mastercard (include Cirrus) and Visa (include PLUS) rate are pretty good. Majority of the time, better than from bank counter or bank draft or Telex transfer or money exchange kiosk.

for HSBC ATM card, which have PLUS and CIRRUS sign, if u withdraw from oversea HSBC branch, per withdrawal only charge RM5.

I am planning to apply for cc. preferably CIMB Petronas CC. but if u guys hv any other suggestion, pls do tell me. i just need some advices from otai2. My objective to apply for cc is for my fuel .Monthly i spent 300rm average on fuel going to work. finally, my Amex gold credit card appeared in my maybank2u.com, obviously maybank had approved my application on Amex gold credit card..
but i havent receive the card yet..

i tried to pay bill with the Amex.. but the pay bill "from account" options dont have option to choose Amex gold credit card, the options are only my current credit card..

is it because i need to receive the card and activate it before can use to pay bill?

or Amex gold credit card cannot use for maybank2u to pay bill??

Most of the bills in Maybank2u online can only use Visa/Master or cash from account only. So far I did not see any bills that can pay using Amex, except register to Auto-pay (direct debit).

Yes. There definitely is overseas withdrawal fee. It is either RM8, RM10 or RM12. All different banks have different overseas withdrawal fee.



Maestro also belongs to Mastercard. If your card has the Maestro logo then it can also be used at Maestro supported ATMs.


HSBC regular banking ATM card (white in color) has the PLUS logo behind

HSBC Premier ATM card (black in color) has the CIRRUS logo behind

There is no handling fee of any sort if you use HSBC Premier ATM card to withdraw cash at overseas HSBC.

can go for direct acess for it as offering 2% for all petrol station.

From 1-July to 31-Dec-09, it will be 5% on the 1st day of every month and from any petrol station.

Yalah..even some bank officer also got 'dog eyes'. I went to a MBB branch to apply for amex gold cc, he check my current card limit and straight away reject me..however i do fax my salary slips to card center, approved and credit limit totally increase more than 50%.

I need some useful and supportive advices here. I am a new graduate just get a job and want to apply a cc, i have at least 22k annual salary. the card will be used mainly for buying stuff online(like ebay) and for groceries at local hypermarkets(mainly tesco, giant & carefour). i dont understand much about cc just basic functions i need to know which card get a better rebate and lowest interest charge(this sounds important to me :S). which bank credit card will be most suitable?

For lowest interest charge, go for Affin Bank (9.99% P.A). Their CC is truly free for life as well, no minimum swipes needed. But other than that they're probably the worst in terms of rewards and all.

For CC applied through TD, will there be any annual fees?

I think it is free for life for Public Bank as long as it is pledged by TD. As for HSBC, the annual fee for their VISA Platinum credit card is RM600/pa for regular banking/non-HSBC account holder and RM300/pa for HSBC Premier customers. However, i was told that the annual fee for HSBC credit card will be automatically waived provided you swipe it at least 12 times a year.

I just received my GSC-Eon Bank card.
Kind of surprised as the bank officer asked me to apply when I did not really want to since my application for a normal Eon card late last year was rejected.

Bank already no business, so they direct apply for you even you are not willing
