Earlier on, someone said his/her Platinum credit card only has RM20,000 of credit line. If my memory serves me correctly, i think it's Preferred Platinum VISA/Mastercard from UOB Bank.

UOB Platinum start at RM15k only.

HSBC VISA Platinum is indeed different from HSBC Premier Mastercard. The HSBC staff told me that the HSBC Premier Mastercard is NOT tied to any of our "Time Deposit" accounts with the bank hence the credit line given for HSBC Premier Mastercard won't be 80% of our total "Time Deposit" in HSBC. I was also told that HSBC Premier Mastercard is a complimentary card issued to HSBC Premier customers as a gesture for supporting and being loyal to HSBC.

Should we already have a HSBC Premier Mastercard but wish to get a second card from HSBC, we will be told to apply for HSBC VISA Platinum pledged by one of our Time Deposit accounts held with HSBC. Please also note that when approved, both HSBC Premier Mastercard and HSBC VISA Platinum will carry a SEPARATE CREDIT LINE.

My rant about HSBC's Premier Mastercard is the card design itself - HSBC put in a lot of effort to design its entire range of cc but the Premier's design is just plain lazy and too simple to reflect its status. Not to mention that in Malaysia, HSBC's Premier MC is of equivalent to its Platinum sister ... sigh. You also need to surrender your Premier MC should you exit from your Premier status.

I'm surprised about the Time Deposit pledge system as this is new to me. What is the minimum lock-in period ... should be nothing less than 12 months I guess. And what happens if you decide to exit before maturity ? Would the bank allows it ?

Oh yes ... UOB is very stingy when it comes to credit line. The card design is nice though .... perhaps one of the best in the Platinum offerings in Malaysia.

Agreed. Hopefully one day they will bring the Premier Mastercard back to design board.

I guess this is what set it apart from all other credit cards.

The HSBC Premeir RM didn't inform me anything about minimum lock-in period but she did say that should one decides to lift the related "Time Deposit", the VISA Platinum credit card will need to be cancelled as well.

Anybody aware of this Autopay promotion with Mastercard from TM:

This sounds like quite an interesting deal. RM 2 rebate a month for telephone bills > RM20.

Just wondering, Which bank has the best rebate scheme for MasterCards? Then can have double rebates tongue.gif

If you spend overseas and since you finished up your JustOne rebate limit, best option after that is Alliance up to RM5K/month and you earn 2X points for overseas spending. After RM5K limit with Alliance, use CIMB/DA VI, you get 0.5% rebate and 1% rebate for overseas transactions but points 1X only. Else for local use get AMEX charged card 3X Turbo which give you 1.5% rebate when redeem with MR but not worth it for overseas as fees 2.5%.

winner, have you applied for AMEX Gold CC 5X rewards since Fridays no longer of importance to you.

Yah, rebate is great as it is tax free (for now).
*
I always wanna consolidate the number of CCs. At this moment, I only have SCB x2, Alliance x1 and Citi x1. SCB Just1 has been my primary card in these 2 months, followed by Alliance. And now, I can put my Just1 cc into cold storage for the rest of 10 months. Yes, I think I’ll apply for Amex Plat and Gold cc, hoping to get the Longines watch within 6 months. I’ll use Amex Gold cc for petrol and groceries, and use Alliance for other purchases in M’sia. For overseas transactions, Alliance is preferred for the 1st RM5000, and then Amex Plat cc (no worry about the 2.5% admin fee as company will reimburse) and SCB VI (for 3x choice points). Citi is now my backup cc, and I consider terminating it if the Amex Plat and Gold are approved.

QUOTE(Asus @ Jul 28 2009, 05:40 PM)
hey guys how long is the approval for the Alliance Bank You:nique card...
*
2-3 weeks, based on my experience.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 28 2009, 05:42 PM)
Actually the standard of plat cards had diminished drastically, thus the need for new cards to be introduced  tongue.gif

I was surprised to receive their call offering VI FOC after my Just1 was just approved, even though I was not /am not their PB customer. VI is no longer exclusive either.

@winner,
Just cause U were invited for the VI doesn't mean it's not exclusive lah. A lot of people out there who wants the card can't get the card; and I barely made the mark!

Yea, there's alot of talk bout VI and other similar cards being not exclusive, but considering the majority viewpoint, it probably still is.

Most of us still are not eligible for it here =p

It is because I thought it was only offered to its PB customers. I was never one of them, and I didn’t even have any accounts with them except Just1 cc!

Has anyone here tried using Mastercard's paypass feature at KFC?
I've been dying to try it whenever I buy KFC but I don't want to experience a failed transaction for a RM10 meal in front of a lunch hour crowd. laugh.gif

Oh and one more thing, just to make sure. Better be an idiot now than an idiot later.
If the paypass logo is on the card (specifically at the back of the card), it means the card can be used for paypass? Card in question is CIMB Petronas.

Actually I have to agree with Winner, when the SCB VI was first launched, it was based on their HK model, which was strictly by invitation only and the target then was 10K cards only. But not sure why they did a 360' turn and now every Tom, D*** & Harry seems to be having it hmm.gif

And to top it all, they have also made their Plat card offerings one of the easiest to get in the industry sad.gif

I needed to refinance a property but they say my credit rating over exposed, thus I needed to scale back, so only option was to reduce my CC limit to the minimum, which is RM1K sad.gif

All CIMB card have paypass, you can use at KFC restaurant.
One more thing is not many cashier know how to use the tap reader, if fail to read your card, then they will directly swap your card from the terminal which mean you have to sign tongue.gif
According to one former member, it is not tap reader or the cc problem, the cashier don't know how to operate the tap reader blush.gif
