Alrite. Seem we already have dedicated discussion thread for different brand amp, sub, speaker and so on...

I just wanna make a 'Clean' thread where Everyone JUST LIST DOWN your CURRENT SETUP (brand, model, price)

Nothing to be shy whether you having latest or older model. This is not to show off but the SHARE

If possible (put the price for each item else just give the total budget spent, would be very helpful).

Other than that, just a small request. NOT chit chat in this thread PLEASE, just ot make it CLEAN smile.gif. Hope you guys are ok with it

TV Model :
Amplifier :
Front Speaker :
Center Speaker :
Surround Speaker :
Subwoofer :
Interconnect/Cable :

** I need to check my each item model, only can post up later wink.gif

PS, sorry for the plastic sticker still on the Bravia, at the time this picture was taken, my house is still under some renovation. Don't wanna get dust on it... smile.gif

Hi,

My modest setup.

1. Panasonic 42" Plasma monitor
2. Denon AVR 1509
3. Defination Technology Speakers, Center, Subwoofer and Surround. (Speakers are Bi Polar and 13 years old now)
4. Shuttle HTPC SN25P with ATI-HD4350
5. FreeNAS network storage.
6. 2 small speakers are backup speakers connected to the Plasma.
7. Very old Sony DVD plaver not connected to fill up the space until a Blueray player purchase.

Rooms just renovated and looks bare brows.gif future upgrade maybe a DLP and a 100" screen.

BP 10? Do move your main DefTech furthur out. The back need space to breadth.Darn good speakers. I have the DefTech20 for a mighty long time and am still using the BP=1 for surround and the C-1 for centre.200 RMS.

HTkaki,

If you do enuf homework on Bass Management, I think the bass will be overkilled in this room coz every drivers are Mega-Sized. Even the center drivers are extra large. The SVS sub alone is already a scary monster.........

That's the point. I knew. Coz' many did ask about hooking up a 7.2, which I think will simply overpower my room.

All speakers are being set to small. The front is being cut off at 60Hz, center at 80Hz and the surr at 100Hz. I am not using the PC12-Plus as the PB13-Ultra simply jaw-dropping.

I have yet to do full calibration using Audyysey. Once done, I shall check again the FR with the SPL meter.

That's the way to set all channels to small coz you have a damn good sub to take care everything below 60 or 80hz. I was wondering how come you set your surround at 100HZ as you are using bookshelf speakers right?? Maybe 80Hz will suite them well?

My set up is no league player comparing to the rest.. But no harm sharing.

TV Model : Samsung CRT 21' given by my brother

Amplifier : NAD T763

Front Speaker : Epos ES11 (made ?1990)

Center Speaker : Fostex FE167E with standard cabinet ported (DIY)

Surround Speaker : Jamo Cornet (made ?1991)

Subwoofer : not yet... (will be another DIY project in due course)

Interconnect/Cable : No Name. Centre speaker cable: Cable Talk 3, front speakers cable can't remember the name. Surround Cable = nameless.
Interconnect = Some DIY cable as CoAxial. Other average RCA, name cannot recalled.

Future project:
1. Projector DIY
2. Projector Screen - most likely DIY too, or maybe ScreenGoo paint.
3. Subwoofer DIY. Source unclear as yet.

I would welcome any good advice about subwoofer speaker driver and amp recommendation. smile.gif

Here's the epos ES11. The front grill is gone which is good sonically. But my daughter has poked the speaker many times with her little finger, prompted me to DIY a grill, plastered at the side by black rubber tape. It works well !
user posted image

Centre speaker - DIY Foxtex FE167E with its bookshelf cabinet. Painted black to fit the rest.
user posted image

My rear surround with stands. A little bit of luxury I guess but thats what is fitting at the present house.
user posted image

Another view of the rear speaker setup blasting the viewer.

Here's the humble brain of the HT system. NAD T763 bought in 2nd hand from one of the forumner here.
user posted image

Finally here's my backup component, currently under cold storage until I move to a newer place in a few months time hopefully.
On top, a fully functional Marantz CD52 mkII;
The middle unit is a vintage Marantz 2252 receiver Amp circa 1978, bought by my father at my tender age of 11 ! After servicing, it still sings very well !!
The bottom unit is the first generation Kenwood Prologic Receiver, bought in year 1991 I think.

Do you really need to keep so many magazine near the TV?

Gosh, I have not looked behind the sets for years!! I only remember calling up KL to ask the salesperson how to connect the two 8000Ps (one for high frequencies, the other for lower frequencies) to the 8000A, and struggling and tagging the bi-wire speaker cables..

Mine is connected something like this:

why not? option 1 & 2
1. the kuro and the projector doesn't need to be in the same room
2. why can't it be in the same room, a roll up projector screen in front of Kuro.

It would be nice if you get those bi-pole speakers and place them at the same locations as your surround. Your house is nice and the reflections of bi-pole speaker could give you rather nice ambiance..... my taste though..

This is what I used now... not bad for only RM650.

Eye, pretty good set-up you got there.

However, you are one of those guys whom do not pay much attention to stereo balancing and centre speaker positioning. I guess you will say space constraint. I suggest you mount the tv on the wall so everything solved. You can than place centre on top of cabinet and your image will be in centre too. I believe the sound imaging and dialogue will greatly enchanced!

I guess he just got a problem with a thick receiver. Many face similar problem where the cabinet cant fit the AVR. Denon and Marrantz got really thick AVR. Looking at the 3 speakers, they look nicely align where the distance from the left and right speaker to the center is equal. , just that the TV is not centered. Getting something to elevate the TV could help to so the AVR can go beside the TV if he dont want to drill some holes on the wall.

mikapoh, tracktion3, thank you for the suggestions. much appreciated.

yes, indeed , the tv placement is off axis for the moment .. hehe. i will centralise it when i remove the avr from the top of cabinet. the amp is an old nr801. im looking for a replacement, most probably the nr807 or a denon equivalent.

yeah i have a thing about hanging the tv on the wall. prefer it to be on stands tongue.gif

Same set up as last time...
Just addition of SVS PB12-Plus Sub...

I have put the sub in the back area of the room till i move into my dedicated home theater...looks tidier at the back cause my bedroom too small smile.gif
Also surround rears and rears obviously not in the correct places right now...

Hi all Sifus,
1 stupid question, if i already set the cut off frequency in AVR, for example to 100Hz, what is the cut off frequency i should set at the Sub woofer? set as the same as the AVR setting or set highest?

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

It looks like a solid metal from the pix. smile.gif Thank you mate for the info and price. I would consider this info for scouting for more info or buying over the internet. Amazon got some models as well but quite pricey around USD20-30 per pair.

Wall paper.....but nowadays is not purely paper anymore....more of rubber synthetic.....very nice to touch and easy to clean... here's a complete set of my av room.. http://img294.imageshack.us/g/img0382l.jpg/ ...... but to make it more suitable to watch movies in the afternoon (like me.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ), I change the normal curtain to blackout curtain....no light can penetrate the curtain just to make the room dark and cozy...

I cant remember exactly the name of the company hmm.gif hmm.gif . I did search in the internet & I found the website during the installation for my room. One sure thing is that the company is in Belgium rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif . If you go to any curtain shop, normally they have lots of wall paper and maybe one of it is the same as the one I used...the one I'm using is RM180 per roll (W 0.53 m X L 10m) inclusive labour charge ...my room size is roughly 13X10 feet and it took 8 rolls for the whole room (RM1440 )...The rack was bought in furniture shop...dont have Ikea in Kedah sad.gif sad.gif ..if you're really want to use wallpaper, I would suggest you get quotation from several shop first b4 you install it...ask them whether per roll is inclusive labour charge or not..mine was inclusive thumbup.gif thumbup.gif ....

shocking.gif WOW, I didn't know wallpaper can cost so much. But I suppose if it's high quality and inclusive of labour, then it's a fair price.

Is it very thick? like thick enough to have some sort of sound absorbing quality?

The sound quality definitely different before the installation. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif . ...much-much better....did not expect this at all...the purpose of the renovation was just for the appearance but now I got both (appearance & sound quality) drool.gif drool.gif .... but not sure whether it is due to the wallpaper or carpet or both hmm.gif hmm.gif .... maybe you can ask some of the sifu in LYN...they have more information on this matter..

here's the pics.....its not that thick but it has rubber elements on top of the paper.....if you got a lot of $$, then you can opt for RM220-RM250 per roll...serious bro...it looks stunning wink.gif wink.gif ..it is even thicker than my wall paper....

miri, King Sound is still best located in Bintang Megamall. He carry Wharf, Mission, Proac, random subs, marantz, CA, Jolida, VDH, Chord, Supra, Audio Analogue, Denon, Onkyo, etc.

Got 2 more, 1 is Chieng Bro, i saw them selling Marantz, MA and Tannoy. I have doubt on pricing. First time i go, quote me cheap, 2nd time i go, quote me higher, but then i told him last time you quote me like this he say, oh tat wan might be underwater stock =.=" but at least he is friendly the first time and let me audit his Gold Series MA bookshelf...

The other is opposite Boulevard Mall, the name is something hifi, this one... sell B&W and someother stuff... also try to potong my leher... and the boss dun even layan me till i ask him stuff... then i notice his audit room, he gave me a talk about not giving audition without appointment.... maybe cos i am just small fish... i never went back... ahahaha...

Kuching got nice shop too like Junwei's shop. I will try and visit someday.

interconnect between pre/pro is not as important as between source n pre. any solid and well shielded ic will do.

Sorry, off topic here, but I need to look for a HDMI cable which is minimum 5 feet and above. Anyone knows who sells them or where can I get it?

It doesn't have to be branded cable....

I shot these picture with a wide-angle lens. Hence, the TV may appear to be closer.

In actual fact, my couch (on the left of the sculpture) is approx 10-11ft. away from the TV. I find the TV size/viewing distance ratio very comfortable. 42" is a bit small. For a 60", pixelation from watching Astro would be horrible shakehead.gif

Height wise is about eye level. You can adjust it to suit your taste thumbup.gif

Haha... don't think it'll grow any bigger, unless I have a dedicated HT room.

Else, my living room will be too cluttered. Probably my plants will then have to make room for the speakers tongue.gif

Then again, I have a feeling that it's bottom out and perhaps, price may surge again due to demand. We'll see....... cool2.gif

think ill spent the next 30 years full with sarcastic remarks from Accounting Generale (wifey) if i dump 10k+ to a tv set.

not to mention, 2010 fiscal year report will be mention with deliberate exaggerated repetitiveness.

that said, 11k+ for a krp-500a is mighty cheap!!!

think ill spent the next 30 years full with sarcastic remarks from Accounting Generale (wifey) if i dump 10k+ to a tv set.

not to mention, 2010 fiscal year report will be mention with deliberate exaggerated repetitiveness.

that said, 11k+ for a krp-500a is mighty cheap!!!

Bro,

The question has a direct relation on whether you should invest in the HTP-LX70.

Back to the original question, can your BDP-320 play RM10 Pirated DVD9? blink.gif

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'With good quality AhHem disc, U will not notice any difference even compare with the ori-Blu-ray copy if not side-by-side comparison, the out put is 24p/1080p thumbup.gif'

I beg to differ. Else, an 1080p upscale DVD player will do? whistling.gif

Though some Blu Ray converted DVD9 PQ is highly commendable, the difference is still obvious. I have tons of Blu-Ray converted DVD9 discs. After viewing 1/2 doz. of Ori Blu-Ray, you'll spot the difference (blurring, judder)

To view a movie in pure 24p/1080p mode requires:

1) TV (24p output)
2) BD player (supports 24p)
3) Blu-Ray disc (Blu-ray Disc is encoded at 1080p/24p right on the disc)

You may a output DVD9 as 24p/1080p but the frames are upscaled and interpolated cool2.gif

the tv looks small compare with the center speaker.

is there anything like a small center speaker stand that we can place behind the tv, and with angle adjustment for tilting downward when the speaker is located above the tv?

Actually the center speaker is big. About the center speake mounting/stand, i got no idea if it is available.

I sure hope that the center speaker can hold the TV for the mean time while searching for alternative.

Thanks guys.

Anyway, i was thinking of getting a big glass slightly just higher than the center speaker and the lcd sit on the glass. Then i can place my AVR and Intergrated Amp on the cabinet which will be same level as the center speaker. Will post up new picture when fix (most probably by next month will settle everything during my wife confinement period. On leave for 3 weeks to take care of baby)

Anyway cheers guys.

Yes, you're correct, it is a McIntosh amplifier. It's the MA7000 which goes for USD$8000 + shipping/handling + taxes. So there abouts.

Wow... That's a lot of heavy firepower you got there biggrin.gif

Something that I have put a lot of thought into as well considering that I also live in a condo. Hmmm... looks to me that you must be living in one of them 'Bungalow in the Sky' type of apartment tongue.gif

One thing catches me, even with all the goodies that you can afford I sense no arrogance in you. Unlike some of the people here who just can't help but declare themselves 'Elites', 'Pros' whatsoever at any given chance brows.gif

If anyone in this forum is into photography, you should check them out. No one there ever claimed they are Pros or what not based on the equipment they use. A great camera setup with a bunch of lens can easily setback $60K whistling.gif but without the necessary skills, a great photographer with a $300 point-n-shoot camera can kick his $60K butt biggrin.gif

Sorry for being so long winded here. Anyway, very impressive setup and more power to you notworthy.gif

Agreed on the sub issue. I was going to get a JL Audio F112/113, but then I just knew that they would be soooo under utilised or I'd be kicked out of the condo! I'll have to buy a new home before I get to enjoy real earth shaking bass!

Thank you for the compliments, it's very nice of you! Very much appreciated!
I truly believe that a person can have as much enjoyment/satisfaction as he/she wants even from an entry level system. It's all a matter of perspective. (Just don't get poisoned by high end HiFi).
I enjoy good HiFi/HT and would just like to share a bit of my happiness here on LYN! smile.gif

It's not so much an upgrade but things that I don't have at the moment. Next up I'm going to move the laptop away from the setup and get a Network Media Player for HD Video/Sound (just can't find a good one to buy, anyone care to recommend?) and a Squeezebox Touch!

I bought everything almost all at once moneyflies.gif , so I'll be holding off on the upgrades for a bit.

Here is a semi dedicated theater room. The screen is kinda ghetto looking because the bass doesnt fit in the corner. The room doesnt look as nice as ronnt88's or shuto1's.

TV Model : Sanyo PLV-Z4
Amplifier : Denon AVR-2309
Front Speaker : Canton Vento 890DC
Center Speaker : Canton Vento 856DC
Surround Speaker : Axiom QS4
Surround Back: JBL E-20
Subwoofer : SVS PC12-Plus
Interconnect/Cable : Oehlbach

The screen is 120" if im not mistaken but the image thrown by the projector is not as big as the screen because the front speakers and the bass trap are in the way. The image i think is maybe somewhere around 90" only right now.

The system was bought when I was in another house and if fitted perfectly. Right now that's the best I can do if I want to do a dedicated room. I can put the system in the living room but then have to use only 42" tv as it will be difficult to control external light for projection and I dont want to disturb other family member everytime terminator, transformer etc is on play. Besides the room is acoustically treated and I guess sounds way better than the living room. I also like the feeling when watching a projection system. There is no way i'd sacrifice the theater like feeling from projection system eventhough my projector is not the best. When I have the fund or the bulb go kaput I will probably upgrade to a 1080p projector.

Hey bro. I would suggest you painting the wall where the projector screen is. Perhaps something dark will do. Then you'll have a nice looking AV Room. Just my 2cent.

But I somehow felt that the position of the screen is at the wrong place. If I'm not mistaken, the entry door is located at the left top corner. It'll be distracting for people moving in and out of the room. Other than that, you have a nice set up.

Impressive acoustic treatment that you have there.

arremie, it does looks like Auralex to me. Is it Lernd at the front wall? hmm.gif

Yes, nothing beats a projector if you have the suitable environment / room for it thumbup.gif As my own setup was being moved to my showroom, I am no longer eligible to post my setup here until I have enough moolah to build a similiar setup again in my home.

I actually have my old setup with me. Just need to plonk in an avr and a sub. That's it. Then again, I am getting used to the AQ of my current setup now sweat.gif

I am only a small fry. So, it ain't easy for me to have a similiar system sad.gif

Btw, pls drop by again as the current system is more complete than before and the AQ is a lot better than the last time you came. I am still trying to do more improvements in it.

Yup those are Auralex LENRD. The are also bass traps on the backwall. On the ceiling directly above the couch there are Auralex MetroFusor Sound Diffusor. The absorption foam are just generic ones I bought through these forums. No more money after all those expensive Auralex stuff.

That's the best I can do since there are storage shelf on the back hence a semi-dedicated theater in my OP. There's not so much distraction since this is not a public theater cool2.gif, at most there's gonna 4 family member in the room, most of the time it's me alone.

Bro, I have get the carpenter to do 6x wooden frame (T 3"+ x 2' W x 4' H) to house the CSR Rockwool 80kg/m3 as 'bass trap'. Just need to get the cloth to cover it. So, I won't be needing that many. I just want to put LENRD up on the front wall.

I might doing more frames as I intend to sell it too. Will see how it goes.

3" depth enough?
I thought minimum is 4" for bass trap and you need higher density like 120 kg/m3.

Yes, but I will be using better acoustic panel. DIY 6pcs 3" x 2' x 4' frame to house rockwool 80kg/m3 to reduce standing wave. The existing 4 panels will be use at 1st reflection point and at the back wall.

Next week, I will probably do a thicker frame; 6" to put 4" thick rockwool in it. That is meant for bass trap.

remy's new toys eta tis Sat and hopefully there is no delay sweat.gif

btw, I am now on Audyssey DSX Wide. A whiole new watching experience thumbup.gif Will post the new setup. erm, maybe not here since not 'qualify' sweat.gif

Using glove to handle it. Waiting for final touches on the 6 panels.

Yes, it will be both corners at the front wall. It would be 2' W X 8' H. The upper corners will be treated with Auralex LENRD. Once it is done up, I shall post the photo.
