"Shockingly awesome" lol - I agree.

He's got a McIntosh amp so you know he means business.  I wouldn't mind borrowing that to test it out hehe.
*
Thank you for the kind words. I'm really pleased with the setup at the moment.

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Mar 14 2010, 10:21 AM)
It looks really like McIntosh power amp sitting in between. How much is it? RM20k?
Very expensive set-up.
*
Yes, you're correct, it is a McIntosh amplifier. It's the MA7000 which goes for USD$8000 + shipping/handling + taxes. So there abouts.

Agreed, that sure is an awesome looking sub!

I think DD series will be a perfect choice for this kind of set up...

Wish I could afford to use a good sub at my condo, but can't sad.gif Even my current sub volume is set at below default (Default 30, max 80, it's set at like 20-25 shakehead.gif )

QUOTE(serendipity168 @ Mar 15 2010, 12:31 AM)
Wow... That's a lot of heavy firepower you got there  biggrin.gif

Something that I have put a lot of thought into as well considering that I also live in a condo. Hmmm... looks to me that you must be living in one of them 'Bungalow in the Sky' type of apartment  tongue.gif

One thing catches me, even with all the goodies that you can afford I sense no arrogance in you. Unlike some of the people here who just can't help but declare themselves 'Elites', 'Pros' whatsoever at any given chance  brows.gif

If anyone in this forum is into photography, you should check them out. No one there ever claimed they are Pros or what not based on the equipment they use. A great camera setup with a bunch of lens can easily setback $60K  but without the necessary skills, a great photographer with a $300 point-n-shoot camera can kick his $60K butt

Sorry for being so long winded here. Anyway, very impressive setup and more power to you  notworthy.gif

You the M'aam
*
Agreed on the sub issue. I was going to get a JL Audio F112/113, but then I just knew that they would be soooo under utilised or I'd be kicked out of the condo! I'll have to buy a new home before I get to enjoy real earth shaking bass!

Thank you for the compliments, it's very nice of you! Very much appreciated!
I truly believe that a person can have as much enjoyment/satisfaction as he/she wants even from an entry level system. It's all a matter of perspective. (Just don't get poisoned by high end HiFi).
I enjoy good HiFi/HT and would just like to share a bit of my happiness here on LYN! smile.gif

QUOTE(taqies @ Mar 15 2010, 07:18 AM)
Thanks for the equipments list.  As you stated it still incomplete, what is your next upgrade, care to share it with us. Thanks.
*
It's not so much an upgrade but things that I don't have at the moment. Next up I'm going to move the laptop away from the setup and get a Network Media Player for HD Video/Sound (just can't find a good one to buy, anyone care to recommend?) and a Squeezebox Touch!

I bought everything almost all at once moneyflies.gif , so I'll be holding off on the upgrades for a bit.

Nice!! Also dual F113 setup. I called up Audio Perfectionist to get technical support to connect my McIntosh to my subwoofer. The n00b said, "In Malaysia people don't connect sub woofer to hifi," sweat.gif I replied "well, in the US a lot of people do it." I've seen so many hi end setups with subwoofers. Especially with JL F113s

Anyway, awesome setup. Wish our ringgit was stronger then setups like this would be more attainable.

Oh course u can. Most definitely. U don't even need to be a millionaire. You just have to be willing to spend less on other things and more on hifi. thumbup.gif

Well said thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif . Another sad fact is that sometimes we have to buy from retailers who we'd rather not deal with but have no choice only because they are the sole local distributor - and pay way above retail to for non-existent service doh.gif

Have you shortlisted any subs yet gilbert?

I bet your next upgrade should be pre/power brows.gif

Well, that sounds like a great idea! But then if I use the Cremona Ms as surround then my SF Toy Monitors will then be orphaned cry.gif
Eh.. you're like a mind reader and how do you know that I 'might' upgrade pre/power hmm.gif fishy hehe

Very nice shuto1. The finish on SFs are always something to behold.

So what's gonna happen to the Cremonas?
*

Thank you jchong. I love the finish! It's totally exquisite. Fine craftsmanship. Not sure what I'm going to do with the Cremonas. Either find another place to put it, or sell it off I guess cry.gif but it's hard to let go of my first pair of hifi speakers. Sentimental value. They're also in mint condition and underused.

htkaki's da man! flex.gif

Logit: you're right. They're pretty heavy, not to mention big. They stand about 4.5 feet tall and they make my KURO look like they're 32 inch. You need 2 people to carry 1 speaker, but you need 3 people to prop them onto their feet, unless you're ok with the spikes destroying your floor rclxub.gif

nice one shuto. the finish is exquisite. i'm sure it sounds heavenly too. never demo-ed a SF before, beyond my league.

Use the Cremonas as wides in a DSX config?
*

Thank you, it sure does sound heavenly smile.gif I'm so glad I pulled the trigger and got them! You should go walk into Perfect Hifi one day and demo some speakers. Just as a reference. *poison poison
But like htkaki said, I don't have DSX but frankly I don't need wides. The Stradivaris have really really really good sound stage.. very wide.. and hard to pint point.. the sound just comes from the front.. that's all - every where from the front.

QUOTE(htkaki @ Mar 5 2011, 09:57 PM)
To be frank, it could be placebo effect. Just that it is a tad cleaner when in pre-amp mode. Nothing else.

I am aiming at a good stereo pre-amp now to partner the stereo power amp. Then, I can 'relinquish' the int amp and make another stereo system. Problem is that it is very difficult to find one esp the model that I want. I knew a few elite owners but all of them are keeping it even if they upgrade. Sigh....

Buying a new pre-amp is out of my league. Checked. Cheapest one is USD10K  sweat.gif when I ask the local distri. One step up is USD16K rclxub.gif

DAC might be the next in the list.
*

Too bad the 2nd hand hifi market in Malaysia is so small. 2nd hand high end stuff are hard to come buy. Some elites don't bother with selling. They just chuck them in their store room to collect dust rclxub.gif

What DACs are you considering?

Shuto, you have reached audio Nirvana. For such nice and exquisite setup, front wide isn't really necessary.
A pre/pro  should be on its way pretty soon.

Would you be poisoning us with your nice SF setup a fine day?  wub.gif
It's one way ticket, I m just afraid  we couldn't find ourselves 'cure'  and antidote later on. biggrin.gif
*

Sure why not! I just need to complete the system first. With the addition of the Stradivari, it is currently revealing all the weaknesses in the music chain sad.gif I need to upgrade/tweak everything else. Ahhhhh rclxub.gif .

Don't be afraid, it's easy to cure, just go and buy some Sonus Fabers icon_rolleyes.gif

Which multichannel amp/processor are you looking at? Dual Sub25s would be heavenly. I did some furniture re-arranging the past week and that really improved the performance of the Sub25.

Looking good! Love the interchangeable TV/Projector setup! smile.gif

Do you find your front speakers sound best with their backs to the wall?

Also, some people recommend that rear speakers be faced inwards from the sides of the seating position, rather than from the back. Maybe you could try that and see how you find it!

E.g.
Rear Speaker --> [Sofa] <-- Rear Speaker

There's only one way to end your search for the ultimate..is to buy the ultimate..lolx..when you got the best of it, what else can you upgrade to? The next best coming from the same brand  laugh.gif
*
Haha It can only end (for a while) if you have tons of money. moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif

In sequence:
1. First, you get the ultimate set
2. Then you get itchy backside and think you need a 2nd/3rd setup at home
3. Then you get a set for your office
4. Then you upgrade your car's audio system
5. Then you insist your wife needs to listen to music in her kitchen
6. Then you start wiring up your entire home, in ceiling 20 zone setup
7. A few more setups for your kids etc.

Then you eventually run out of places to setup a system, hopefully, no new flagship speakers appear.

Then you can end the search - for a while. Good luck brows.gif
