QUOTE(th8 @ Apr 23 2011, 01:29 AM) Dear WereWolf, I already have a DVD using coaxial cable and I'm thinking of getting a plasma tv and a blu-ray player. Kind of wondering if I shud use the same to get the DTS sound from blu-ray? Just to make sure I can still get the DTS sound b4 investing the $. Thanks! If u want dts then no need invest bd.

QUOTE(hypercore @ Jul 23 2011, 04:24 PM) Here's my home theatre pics. Picture quality not too good because taken using handphone camera. I post the setup some posts back. The home theatre consists of 2 parts:- (i) The av rack holding most of the components. (ii) The corner rack holding the rest of the components. Hmmmm..something is not right here..

QUOTE(eugenecctan @ Mar 26 2012, 12:34 PM) Replace with? Should I get back Pioneer AVR? Replace with an amplifier that can decode HD audio.. Any brand also can, not necessary Pioneer. Because amp is the heart of HT..u should at least get a mid-range to high-end model. A good powerful amp can work with cheaper speakers BUT a good quality speakers cannot work with cheap and less powerful amp.

LPCM vs Bitstream..in theory it should be same rite? but in actual case, it really depends on which player/amp has the better on-board decoder. LPCM - use BD player DAC Bitstream -use AMP DAC If LPCM --> It's like setup a HI-FI system (PCM) , assuming both CD player using the same integrated amp, in most situation a RM 1000 CD player beats RM 300 CD player in providing good SQ. If u need a player able to handle good decoder job...IMHO, u should have chosen a high-end model BD player, most likely DAC should be better. So, for HT..if u have an entry-level BD player, it's better to bitstream and let the Amp do the decoder job.. I have no experience in Pioneer amp..no comment there.

The reviewer might be using a different BD player or AVR, thats why it may sound different.
