look like you were discussing about house rental in your area...

Do you have experience with Olympia College in Kuala Lumpur and their master degree. There are 2 master programs from England : Nottingham and Derby, both from UK.
Do you know about it, please send your feedback.

Thanks.

Hi. This is my first post on this forum. I'm an overseas student hoping to study BioTechnology in malaysia. I have applied to Universiti Malaya and International islamic uni malaysia(IIUM). I got selected in UM but IIUM application is still in progress. I saw this thread and wanted some opinioins from you guys.
Can you tell me about UM? hows the teachers and campus? about the facilities? Science Laboratories? Environment for international student? About the degree in BioTechnology; how well is it recognised in other countries (e.g Singapore).
thanks.

I'm going for my masters soon. I have a B.Eng in Electronics & Electrical Engineering, and planned to do a computing related masters programme. Below are my two options.

1) APIIT (M.Sc in Computing) - http://www.ucti.edu.my/postgraduate.htm
2) Inti UC (Masters in Business Infomation Technology) - http://www.newinti.edu.my/global/courses/m...ess-technology/

Anyone has any comments on either university? (reputation, quality, general comments)
Any info that can help me decide would be helpful. Thanks.

as in the link for the segi and standford thread in this section? well, there is some but they are quite outdated. I think you need to create one yourself.

it depends on whether you want finish your degree here or do a 2+2 or 3+1 or doing an external program from a foreign uni.
taylors is, of course, more reputable with more affliates. utar engineering course are mostly done in their perak campus.

Hey bro, was wondering to take this course also from HELP, but I'm foundation student from UCTI, the staff there said UOL programme is only elligible for students from HELP only, or from A-level, STPM, etc.

Is it true? Can u help me clarify this matter? Many thanks, my number is 016-3094070.

Hi m quite new here been browsing the website and all.

I'm not quite sure where to port this.

I was wondering if UNI OF AUKLAND is a good place to do my masters in arts (film, tele, and media studies).

I am currently attached to a broadcast news agency here in msia specializing in economics.

I am a bit quite in dilemma whether i should go to UK (city university of london) or NZ (uni of auckland) as both is interesting for me.

As for the first one has both MA financial journ course AND news broadcast course.

And the latter has only masters in arts (film, tele, and media studies).

M in dilemma coz:
1) M thinking of migrating and work in the media industry of either country
2) I've both passion for financial writing and broadcast (i've a passion for journalism)
3) As i dun have any relative or friends studying in both unis, chances are m turning to u guys to shed some light over this. PLEASE.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

WHICH COUNTRY IS BEST FOR MIGRATE?

OH GOSH~ PLEASE HELP~

Coz m planning to apply next year 2013~

Hi, nearly every private college/university offers Business courses. They are popular, and typically have lower entry requirements than many other courses. Check out: http://www.malaysia-education.com for a list of universities and courses. It will show you the different majors that Business courses offer. Good luck.

There are a number of private universities and colleges offering Accounting & Finance. In general, the fees tend to be higher at top universities, like Monash, Taylors, Nottingham etc. You can search for your course at: http://www.malaysia-education.com/business.html. Aside from USCI, you can look at Segi, Help, KBU and UCTI. Hope this helps.

English language practitioners, educators and parents can pick up practical and simple activities that will increase student involvement at the three-day Johor English Language Seminar on Writing and Speaking in Johor Baru from Oct 29 to Oct 31.

Jointly organised by JB English Language Teaching (JELTA) and Johor State Education department, the seminar provides ELT practitioners with an avenue for sharing their knowledge and ideas on writing and speaking.

M Suites Hotel is sponsoring the venue, meals for participants and accommodation for speakers as part of its social responsibility commitment to education.

The seminar will focus on diverse issues within ELT and English as a Second Language, such as creative and innovative methodology, curricular and material design innovations, as well as critical thinking and creativity in English language teaching and learning.

Other topics that will be covered during the seminar -- to be officiated by New Straits Times (NST) managing editor Datuk Nuraina Samad -- include developing vocabulary and structural accuracy.

Former NST Johor bureau-chief Ravi Nambiar will show participants how to write a press release that is "useful, accurate and interesting", whereas NST rewrite executive A. Kathirasen, a journalist of 37 years, will give pointers on Writing Effective Letters to the Editor.

Lucille Dass, a former Universiti Sains Malaysia lecturer, will present a paper on Whither the Voice of English. This plenary paper illustrates how teachers can create purposeful and enjoyable speaking activities that allow students to "discover their lost voice in English".

Trainer Irfan Rahman, who has 20 years of experience teaching English all over the world, will deliver a workshop on Speak Your Mind, in which he shares tips for encouraging students to speak in the classroom and solving any problems that may occur in teaching non-native learners to speak.

Education Ministry's Teaching English Language and Literacy mentor and teacher trainer Maureen Parker, meanwhile, will introduce Jazz Chants, a popular method for helping students with pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and grammar.

Parker will also demonstrate some successful ways to make the language classroom more student-centred and engaging.

Registration fee is RM130 for government school teachers and RM200 for other participants.

To register, call Rosnah Rahim at 017-790-5426 or fax 07-224-4737.

If you get a degree in accounting (more numbers) in Malaysia it lead to professional accountancy route with more exemptions.
If you go for accounting and finance, it is more balanced (no. + theories) and could have less exemption. If you don't like economics, try to avoid finance based, go for the accounting major direct.

Finance degree is really not that great in terms of pathway, since you cannot become professional accountant and get into a misguided belief of becoming a investment banker.

Your English is good enough for you to make it.

The fastest route for this is to do ACCA direct - you can do 9 papers and get a degree in accounting from UK.
If you have money go for a degree, if you have time go for a degree, if you have neither go for ACCA.

I would like to stress on this point.

I believe most universities would have 9 papers exempted for ACCA if you get an Accountancy Degree. However, some universities that offer double major (Acc & Finance, Acc & Banking ....) will also gives you the same amount of exemption too. Curtin University being one of them.

That is why single major in accounting is very unpopular in Curtin. For the same price, exemption and time period, why study single major when you can do double major? More job opportunity for you in the future with double major.

so can anyone give a review on HELP university ? do they stand up to their name ? is the management good enough to help overcome any possible future difficulties ? how flexible are they ? how good are their facilities ? anything specific that makes HELP stand out ? and how good are they in Business courses ( Management / international business / entrepreneurship ) ??

as I am really interested in the twinning program they offer.

If you are looking for an affordable tourism diploma, I can recommend you to study at Optima International College. The diploma here would not cost you more than 20 k for two and a half year study. Optima International especially cater for students from low/middle-income families which explains its low fees and valuable add-ons. There are many foreign students here from India, China and the Arab countries We specializes in three main components which is Travel, Tourism & Hospitality instead of concentrating in only one component. This is to give our students an edge when they step into the working world.

The special thing about studying in Optima is that you don't have to worry about accommodation as hostel is provided free-of-charge for students. Upon finishing diploma, you can opt to continue degree at our partner universities in New Zealand, USA, Canada, China or any universities in Malaysia as we are a fully accredited institution. Even for international students, the environment in Malaysia is really welcoming towards international students so students can consider to study here due to the international study environment. For more info, you can simply call 03-80767041 or email to farah@optima.edu.my.Attached Image

University College Sedaya International (UCSI) --> Unwavering Commitment to Serve Intentionally University (UCSI)
*
Hi, Sorry to correct you again. But UCSI is just UCSI University. The "UCSI" was just kept after the transition to a full university because it was already a recognised brand. The "Unwavering Commitment to Serve Intentionaly" is not the name, its just a justification. The name is just "UCSI University". smile.gif

If your course not engineering related, no need BEM recognition.

If a course no MQA accredited, then cannot get JPA accredited.

If a course no MQA accredited, than cannot pursue Master later on in local or overseas.

If a course no JPA accredited, then cannot work on government sector.

Hi all,

My friend would like to look for a part-time Diploma in business studies course. He is currently working a full time job. Unfortunately, his SPM didn't do so well, he got D for his English and Bahasa Malaysia and has only 2 credits in other subjects which is not enough to apply for most Diploma courses.

Can anyone provide any guidance on how should he proceed? Whether he needs to take a "certificate" so that he can study Diploma or?

Please advise.

Thanks

Many of these students are here at Taylor's University for the very first time for a special 4 day residential programme called The OMG (Own My Game) Camp.

The camp focuses on experiential learning, and how a better understanding of your passions, skills, goals, and interests can make a significant difference in charting your education pathway after high school.

For a live feed of the OMG camp you can check out #omgtaylors on instagram or find out more about the programme here: http://m.pgtb.me/dqvBKn

For advise, any subject don't ever try to consider Segi University Kota Damansara.. The lecturers here mostly are part timer, they are irresponsible, their mind set is just to teach fns all the syllabus without caring ur understanding.. Since thy are just part timer, and don't really experiences in this field, so sometime u may asked some tricky question, they don't actually able to answer you, they will come out their own principles by saying "is like that" or "find out urself"..They never come with preparation for class, so once they having problems, they just solving during the class, this cause we always finish our syllabus at last minute or he just give us inaccurate "tips" since the final paper is set by Subang Segi.

Attention: My lecturer have the address of Ir.

Of course there have some good lecturer, but getting lesser and lesser.. because they leave for brighter future..

Okay, now.. Segi system matter,
Their system is terrible messy.. they always make confuse or mess up student course subject and fees payment. In segi, they have MPU n MPW subject/ short sem subj..exp like Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies, English all those subj.. so every year have different talking, when I first year, they said you have exempted this subj (credit transfer: Im from dip to deg student), after tht on 2nd yr, they said u din't get exempted, is not recorded in the system..pls register again during short sem..hell, this will affect my graduation..

Other than that, they will lock your result from the system until you clear your overdue. This is fine, but I thought that I ald pay off all my fees from what is shown from the list payment showed by counselor when I register the course. When I request to seek from her advice, they told me tht she ald resign..

Im taking sundderland program, so in payment they request us to pay in pound which is not following the currency(currently 5.3) is like they set themself to 5.8>> A licensed loanshark!!!

So, don't ever trust to counselor, they will talk until only Segi the best or cheating you about the fees payment..bcz thy just want their commission. Don't let Segi exterior cheated, they just want your money without giving a reasonable services.

Being a graduate does not mean you will get the job. As reported by Jobstreet Malaysia in 2013, 50% of Malaysian graduates are unemployed.

However, you can beat the odds by equipping yourself with the criteria employers look for in a graduate - the 5Cs

Being a top scorer does not mean you will get a place in a public university or get your preferred course.

Despite the fact that in the past there have been complaints of top students failing to obtain coursers they deserved, the problem persisted. Perfect score students failing to get their preferred course is a perennial problem.

According to Pihak Bahagian Kebajikan Pelajar (UPU), the coordinating body for intake into public universities, on its Facebook page (2013), there are more than 2,500 (including the 442 from STPM) applicants with a CGPA of 4.0 who applied for competitive courses like medicine, dentistry and pharmacy but the number of places allocated for the three courses in all public universities is just 1,078 or less than half the number of perfect top scorers!*

However you can always apply for Taylor's University's Tertiary Merit Scholarship. The Tertiary Merit Scholarship is aimed at making your start at Taylor's more rewarding, offering you many top degree programmes. Taylor's University degree programme graduates are well sought after in various job industries.

3 years ago, we had just graduated from SPM - finally gaining that sense of freedom after a long 11 years of school, but confused, uncertain. Researching what's the next step was simply too tedious at that time, personally. Besides finding a good Pre-U, getting a scholarship was also our biggest priority, and heck the process to find and apply for one was not easy at all to say the least.

Fast forward a few years (currently a 2nd year at University of Melbourne), we decided that hey since no one has yet to step up and provide a better service online, we want to take that challenge. We want to help students in Malaysia discover scholarships more easily. Instead of researching and navigating through various websites and portals, visit us at scholardeck.my. We're here to consolidate all necessary information on all available scholarships in Malaysia, and provide personalised scholarship updates directly to you. We'll notify you once the scholarships you want to apply for is made available, and when deadlines are approaching.

Best of luck, peeps! We're always here or on Twitter if you need any help biggrin.gif

Having good grades and being a top scorer is not enough for you to secure a promising career. You need to be more than that. It is best if you can complement your academic achievement with the 2nd Transcript that attests to your skill sets and capabilities based on your involvement outside of the classroom. You can achieve it with Taylor's University's Tertiary Merit Scholarship (TMS).

It is a unique programme made for talented students to develop their academic life skills and social emotional well-being to excel in their future jobs.

Do you know that Taylor's University is the only University to offer a 2nd transcript?

In addition to the 2nd Transcript, those who excel will also be eligible to receive the SHINE Award upon graduation. Endorsed and recognised by top employers, the 2nd Transcript and SHINE Award will give you a well-deserved edge, making you a favourite among employers. The Tertiary Merit Scholarship is sure to give you a rewarding start at Taylor's.

Guys,

Is there a part-time postgraduate program of AstroPhysics, relativity, quantum theory, etc...(cos I already have a family, and need to support them also).

Something that could allow me to go into this field...

Postgraduate (Master) Programme on Tropical Fisheries with International Linkage (ILP)

The Postgraduate (Master) Programme on Tropical Fisheries with International Linkage (ILP) is an international higher education alliance which was founded by the fishery-related postgraduate schools of Sam Ratulangi University, Indonesia, Kagoshima University, Japan, University of the Philippines Visayas, and Kasetsart University, Thailand in August, 2014. With joining of Malaysia University Terengganu and Nha Trang University, Vietnam as new members, ILP is now run by six universities of six Asian countries and started accepting students in April, 2015.

This Programme forms its curriculum by sharing the characteristic subjects offered by the member schools and assumes all the students registered in the Programme at their home university as the Programme students, therefore, the member schools provide education services equal in quality to all the Programme students. The Programme students can enjoy education which is hardly conducted by one university with no additional cost and obtain credits.

The curriculum is managed the Governing Council (GC) of ILP which is comprised of representatives of the member schools under the Common Rule of ILP and guarantees the quality of its education to produce globally competitive manpower. The Common Rule has been established as it fulfil the institutional systems for higher education in the countries of member schools. The certificate of completion of ILP is granted to students who satisfy the requirements set by ILP Common Rule in addition to the master degree which is granted by their home university.

Policy for Organisation
The member schools shall mutually understand the missions and visions of the respective schools and their universities, the higher education systems in respective countries, and the education systems of respective universities, and shall, respecting individual independency and autonomy of the member schools with close and continuous cooperation, formulate the Programme under a unified and common system pursuant to the Common Rule.
The member schools shall, with linkage and cooperation, endeavour to enhance the quality of the Programme and to improve the system for management of quality of education.

Objective of Education
The objective of the Programme is to develop talented persons who are equipped with theoretical and applied knowledge in sciences and technologies relevant to tropical and sub-tropical fisheries and have fostered capabilities with which they can participate actively in the globalising society.

A bridge to better translators

BY T. AVINESHWARAN

http://www.thestar.com.my/metro/community/...ate-bigger-poo/

REALISING that the county has limited pool of translators, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah Malaysia (Usas) and Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) signed an agreement to develop the fields of translation, publication and languafe training in Malaysia.

For a start, both Usas and ITBM will build a syllabus for a bachelors degree for Arab Language. The degree will also serve as a translation certificate recognised by ITBM.

Under the programme, students will undergo a General Translation Course module from English to Malay or Arabic, or go through 60 credit hours of theory, practical skills and final exam to obtain the certificate.

The three and a half year programme will be beneficial for students when they enter the job market and they can also freelance by being a ITBM certified part-time translator, Usas Vice Chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi said, adding that through the partnership, ITBM will monitor and offer translation activities for the graduates of the programme.

“Besides programme preparation, this partnership will also focus on translation work and publications meant for internship programmes for Arab language students.

“In other words, this partnership will also continue ITBM’s efforts in improving the translation, training and publishing in the country,” he said to reporters before signing the agreement at the State Secretariat Building.

Nordin represented Usas at the signing while ITBM was represented by its CEO Mohd Khair Ngadiron.

The ceremony was witnessed by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and ITBM Chairman Budiman Mohd Zohdi.

Zambry said translation work is often under-appreciated and many do not know that it is a job that pays well and is valued by many.

He went to say that he hopes that the students in the programme will learn from it and do something worthwhile once they have completed the course.

“You can work anywhere, freelance and so on. Lots of Arab works have not been translated and I hope the students graduating from this programme will do something about this.

“In the diplomatic and writing world, you need good translators. The country does have many translators who are well versed with many languages.

“Usas is a special university to Perak. We hope it can produce students with good skills, and we hope this programme can produce better students in the near future,” he said to reporters during the ceremony.

A-level is best if you're not sure if you want to continue to study in the same uni for your undergraduate, but if you do foundation you can go to only a limited number of universities, including the university you did your foundation from. smile.gif

Well, I have created a thread specifically for the full listing and description of every public Universities and private Universities as well in Education Essentials.

Given my thread usually from time to time get buried under other threads due to being updated once or twice in a blue moon, so here is the link for your quick reference:

Malaysia Higher Education - IPTA / IPTS, Universities/University Colleges

Basically I also tried to include several skill-based (or TVET) institutions amongst info that included Institut Perguruan and even Kolej Komuniti.

Hi guys, my first post because I been reading alot of info posts.

Recently I been getting sms from a agency saying that they can help students get scholarship or gov assistance{PTPTN) and help me enroll into the university im interested in. They ask me to go for an interview in Klang, somewhere near a regency condo.

Anyone else got experience with them?
*
hmm, abit questionable. Nvr heard of such service for ptptn before.

Hey, currently deciding between UCSI or Taylors for IT foundation. which would be better academic wise? I like Taylors more but it takes an hr and a half to get there by mrt/lrt, whereas UCSI is nearby

Guys, how do you feel about essay writing services? I think to take advantage, since there is not enough ability and time for this. It's just the first time I've come across this, but I urgently need help. What do you think about https://paidpaper.net/review-of-essayfactory-uk/ this option? No one encountered?

Maybe unrelated. But new here. So unable to find correct platform to post.

(Needs around 50 respondents more) Please do allocate less than 5 minutes to contribute in this research) Highly appreciated, thank you everyone.

Hello There, I hope you're keeping positive and testing negative 📷! I'm Pushpa here, final year undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology from International University of Malaya-Wales. As a requirement of my course in my degree, I'm conducting a research on on The Relationship Between The Health Locus of Control and Sexual Risk Behavior Among University Students in Kuala Lumpur.
I am aware of the sensitivity and the taboo associated with this topic, especially here in Malaysia. This stigmatising is one of the reason why there's lack of awareness on this topic which leads to social and health issues among young adults such as unintended pregnancy, increase risk of transmitting or contracting STD's.

So your honest contribution is highly valued.

I would like to inform you that your answers will be anonymous, personal identification information such as your email address, race/religion, and your university name won't be collected. I have explained it further on my Informed Consent on the Google form (LINK BELOW)
You shall meet the criteria of participants as stated below:
Age between 18- 34 years old at the to participate in this study.
Malaysian
University students in Kuala Lumpur
Not married
The questionnaire will take approximately around 5 minutes of your time, depends on the time you spend on the glossary section. Thank you for your participation in this research project.
(will be extremely helpful if you can share it among your friends who studying in KL)

1. Can we do A level as individual student in Malaysia? Means do not need to enroll for courses, just register for exam by yourself. If yes, how?

2. Is there part time foundation course in Malaysia?

We are a part of 42 Malaysia, a nation-building initiative by Sunway Education Group and Khazanah Nasional Berhad. Launched in Paris and with campuses around the world, 42KL is a unique coding school (computer science/ software engineering programme) that is completely free with no teachers or classes. Our innovative pedagogy revolves around peer-to-peer and project-based approach learning in a gamified environment.

We think anyone with passion and dedication should have the chance to learn, regardless of their background or experience.

Our merit-based admission makes this possible and students do not need prior coding experience.

So, why are we doing this outreach?

Digital skills are vital for future success. We want to raise awareness about tech education and career pathways while highlighting alternative methods of learning especially for students who face barriers pursuing tertiary education, students who do not fit into the conventional learning style or students who have potential that is just waiting to be unlocked!

With this, we have an upcoming Info Day happening on the 27th of May at 2PM-5PM, at our campus which is located at Sunway FutureX.

If you would like to know more, you are welcome to join us!

Register here: www.42kl.online/info-day
