Oh man.....let's see. IT depends on a few factors. Off the hand, I can remember;
- Bodytype
- Phase
- Goals
- Workout programming
- Injuries
- Nutrient deficiency
Depending on which phase you are, for example if you're in the strength phase. Some athletes with the meso bodytype cannot take excess protein'ey foods or they will gain weight in the form of muscle. In this case, to up recovery, we drop one meal, and replace that with a protein shake. Low calories and has BCAA, glutamine, essential amino acids. The key word here, isn't how much protein. It's simply, density.
The almost basic one which every weightlifter SHOULD have (but often, don't. It's a poor man's sport)
- HCA
- Protein powder
(for recovery, and cuz of density)- Creatine (
It doesn't help me, but it could be the wrong type. I'll try another)
- Fish oil (Extremely important)
- Multivitamins (Some require 2x the amount of the average "serving" size because of recovery time and training intensity)
- Test

(No seriously, if I could use test, I'd gladly do it. Decrease recovery time, increase capacity, strength. What's not to love?)
For locals, some in Sarawak, Sabah, Northern states of Malaysia, even use long jack. Tongkat ali'lah. The problem with tongkat ali is that it tastes, horribly bitter. I mean, it's truly the most bitter thing I've ever tasted. Think bittergourd? Multiply that by 7 or 8 times. You can't take the silly "in a packet" types. You gotta use the pure roots.
One point though, Western and Asian methods of supplements and recovery, are extremely different. You can clearly see which is the dominating force though. Don't forget, Russia IS in Asia. Depending on how you look at it, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, are also part of Asia.
