the current 80gb also can play, but it rather emulates rather than run as the same emotion engine as ps2's. future 80gb wont have the emulator or the EE inside. so no ps2 games playback.
by the way, as im not in KL area, planning to go there in near future, anyone knows where i could find the limited edition ps3? thanks in advance. |

It all depends what PS2 games region that you have. If you have a UK version you will need a PS3 from Europe. If you have US ps2 games than you will need a US console PS3 and so on.... from my survey.. 1300 - 1400 is the range of price for 40gig.. i bought my self 40 gig ps3 7 month for rm1350..+ game = RM1550..

Hmmm... I mean, like you said before, DigiMall offers 40GB PS3, 1 sixaxis, 1 DS3, 1 game. All for RM1600+ Correct? Make sure of this first and compare the price and the customer service. the power supply is built in and supports 110v ~ 240v. No modification necessary. Any one say need to modify, it is a con job.

the only thing to worry about is the warranty. Asian sets from Singapore u can get warranty if u register online. Japan sets hv to go back to Japan lor. Another thing is the censorship, I heard Japan consoles got censor some games, not sure true or not..

Chances slim as the new 80GBs would sell at the current 40GB prices. Furthermore comes with dualshock3. If anything, 40GB price might drop.

Here's something to bear in mind when shopping for your PS3.
While looking around alibaba.com for videogame suppliers, I found some companies selling refurbished PS3s and other consoles. So if you think you're getting a really good deal, be careful. I strongly recommend you stick to to reputable sellers here. When someone tries to sell you a 40GB PS3 console for less than RM1.3k, think carefully. |

Look like everyone said that the 80 giga ps3 is same price as 40giga ps3 now..at the sony conference, they selling at USD 399, which is RM 1302 (convert with market currency now)
In my opinion, malaysia havent launch on any ps3 yet, all machine is all supply from HK, SG or even japan... so i will estimate the price should be around USD 399 + Tax + delivery cost = RM 1400++ or might higher? ...we will see at this september, and i will let you all know the price when the 80 giga ps3 released. Sony already lost profit on each 40 giga ps3 console, will sony reducing the price of 40 giga ps3 again? i think is not possible. from the date of 40 giga ps3 release , the price is around 1400+ and untill now is around 1300++... in my opinion, the price is already fixed, maybe will drop RM 5~10 , or raise up RM5~10, is all depend on the supplier here.. and 1 truth answer is, whether your ps3 machine is original len or the fake lens.. within the warranty 1 year period... if your lens is spoilt or have other things no function well. ..you only have 2 choice. 1. sent back to HK, SG, JP, to claim warranty ... time period is 3 month to 6 month, shipping fees you need to paid by yourself which is around RM 250 above, and the repair fees is free. unless you bring your own ps3 machine go to the country and claim for a new machine. BUT.. what i know is, they will tell you where you bought, and want to see the receipt. If you cannot show the receipt, they wont claim for a new ps3 machine for free to you. This information, is truth, and is from my supplier regarding on the warranty. regarding about the receipt things, last time i already checked with sony ps3 at singapore there. they said that, must bring the retail shop receipt together then only can be claim. 2. actually, if you scratched PS3's body, you can restore it by applying guitar polish, but not for those truck accidents one. Small ones should be fine.

i think the rm200 hdmi is overrated di.. can get rm60 outside.. there inst such thing as a good quality one.. cause it runs on digital signal. either 0 or 1... so no such thing as lost data

no problem to play ps2 and ps1 game , but just update ur firmware to the latest should be fine , no problem updating patches at all. how much is this package around 2200 at nelson shop i believe for the us ver 80gb mgs4 bundled ps3. no blu ray in that package . need to clarify with seller. ur welcome |

40GB version does not have a USB cable bundles... stupid Sony. I don't know they include it now or not.

whether the usb cable is bundle or not bundle. you can check on the ps3 box there.

 Anyway, it is still too short to play and charge at the same time. So a 10ft one is pretty good. |

Normally in Singapore it's not fake lens. They will start off with very low price and then say doesn't include GST and credit card charges plus u will have to buy additional games at normal price. Some more they will say it's region coded and u have to buy different set which is region free and u end up paying more or same price as sony centres in Spore.

If want to buy at Sg, don't buy at sls.. you probably want to avoid that place at all cost. If you happen want to shop at sls only.. then there is Sony Square at 3rd floor or Tec Drom at 5th floor.
Other than that want to be safe just go Sony Style , that's where I bought from. |

non ori lens....old story d this issue...
like i always said,if some1 offer a price at rm1200 + / less...for a so called Brand New console...u're probably buying a PS3 that has non ori lens..or worst still,a RECON unit caz as a seller,i would say it's really impossible to sell at this price,unless the shop doenst want to earn any profit..which is impossible.. current std price is around rm1350.. and my advice is always buy from a reputable seller... |

I think the 80GB will be priced slightly higher than the 40GB. Don't think the 40GB will have any price drop here in Malaysia, well unless Sony brings in the official set, which would really mess up those AP-set.
Anyway, I'm waiting until end of this year, whether we get the 80GB or the official PS3. It is time for Sony to listen to market demand here in Malaysia. |

ya i agree. seems more likely that even if sony launch 80GB and sell at same price as 40GB once it gets here then the retailers would rather keep the 40 GB price standard (unchanged) and increase the price of the 80 GB sets instead. oh well

I notice sometimes, same game (e.g. R6V2), ps3 can cost anywhere from RM20 to RM40 more than xbox 360. that means it is between 12-25% more leh. In general PS3 game prices are still higher. It is common sense anyway, Blu-ray cost more. 'Nuff said.360's games will be cheaper if u mean ahem games but have to risk 3ROD and risk online play for banning ahem games. In certain cases like PS3 stranglehold collector's edition, u get the ENTIRE HARD BOILED movie! Although in sd, i thought it was a great addition. Unfortunately i bought the xbox360 version already |

i just heard from sunway pyramid sony center boss whom i know personally that the PS3 is officially launchin in malaysia on 18th of sept (next month!!) and the pyramid sony center is 1 of the launch venues. price not veli sure yet tho but the sony center boss say she heard it should b at least RM1499 and its gonna be bundled wit 2 blu ray discs (could be games or movies). they ll b sellin games oso and the price range is from RM129 to RM299. i ll post more info if and when i know more

PAL or NTSC is not reli the main concern here. the biggest concern is actually the warranty. like myself, i bought the sg ps3 which means even if the ps3 is gonna be available here officially but sony msia still wont accept my warranty claims if any bcos my ps3 is sg version.

what i feel is.. whats the rush to get a ps3 if its coming out soon officially.. in less than a month or maybe 2? of course no one is stopping anyone from buying a set now from our current local dealers..
do you wanna get it now and then keep your heart beating fast hoping the deal coming out from sony is bad so you won't regret it? thing is wouldn't it better to just wait for sony, hear out the deal then only decide on which to get? its not like our local dealers gonna get their shop burned down in a month's time.. |

Well for me to get it officially available locally is of utmost important in terms of local warranty. At least i can call sc everyday to follow up on my ps3 if i send it to sc for repair rite. Rather than playing a waiting game if you send in to singapore and wait between 3 to 6 months to get it repaired.

It is good news to hear that Sony Style is going to have an official launching of Sony Ps3.
At least we have local warranty on our machine. If the price different between a local and singapore is set is not less than a charges to pay for sending the set to Singapore, that would be nice. Does anyone knows the launching date? |

hi folks, may i know how much i can sell a 2nd hand 60GB PS3 set for, with 2 sixaxis controllers?
it's the best original version that has the PS2 hardware Emotion engine chip built-in (which is not in the 40 or 80GB models) for backwards compatibility, as well as support for SACD and multiple memory card slots? as it is no longer in production by Sony it's very limited in the market nowadays and i heard it's a collector's item. |

Hi, I registered just to get some clarification. I've already posted in the "official sony playstation3 launch event" but didn't get an ideal understanding yet.
I'm very keen to get a unit during the launch, but would like to know more before hand. Is it cheaper for me to get a unit outside instead as in GamerHideouts or in S&M or Sg Wang? Is there any difference in terms of warranty and services? Any help greatly appreciated, the launch is just 1 day away. |

that mean if anything happen to ur ps3 (chances to get are really low) u need to pay for the shipping money otherwise if local warranty simply just go to any nearest sony outlet for ur reparing

I bought mine on 26/09/2008 ( Friday ) Malaysia PS3 80GB around RM1599 + x1 Free Game + SkinGuard ( Bought it at Play-On Enterprise of Sungei Wang Plaza , KL )

It's bad preparation. Even on launch date, they don't even have enough SC4 to go with the bundle. Malaysia already got official ps3 so warranty no problem. And it does stated need to bring box and official invoice, so if u buy from sony, save the invoice properly for warranty |

Come on, enough with all this piracy stuff. There is always rumours about this. Lets just be happy with what we have so far. Furthermore, Sony would always be able to upgrade the firmware and disable some features if we dive into CFW.

Hi umm i'm planning to buy an xbox360 to play gtaiv since its cheaper than ps3.But I noticed there is a high chance that your xbox360 can have the rrod problem and also its graphic and engine is lousier than the ps3.I don't know much about consoles but I do love to play consoles.Umm just wondering how much is a new 40gb regular original ps3 and the 20 gb ps3?What is the cheapest option I have to buy a brand new ps3?Cause I don't have much money and I wanna know if I can afford it.Thanks

You can just ask for quotes from dealers in this forum. Price for Singapore sets should be about RM13xx. Malaysian sets about RM15xx. As long as you register the warranty online, you'll get it. I just registered my SG set yesterday. You'll need a valid SG address tho (I used my friend's) and now I'm covered one year from Sony SG.
BTW, for niko, stick to the trusted sellers in the forum |

When you sign up for the warranty, they'll ask you how you got it. I just selected "received as gift". As long as the serial number of your console is valid and has never been registered, you can register for the warranty. When the process is done, Sony issues you a Warranty Contract Number. Save this. It's important. I guess you just need that.

bukanmain, not to be rude but if you checked around, you will find out that not even sonystyle has stock.
I do believe nelson when he says that the ps3s are stuck @ custom, cause this has been mentioned elsewhere in the forum, and even sony malaysia needs to go thru customs before they can distribute it to the retailers. Hope you exercise restraint and caution before claiming people are not being honest with you, especially since you either have not researched or are not aware of the details of the msian ps3. i still choose to support nelson, as i've dealt with him before a few times....
keep to his word, and he knows his stuff, not like some sellers who try to con the unsuspecting ones with their "colourful" knowledge of consoles.... luckily i bought my PS3 80GB malaysia set from him just after the official launch....if not, i will have to wait....hahaha....at least i think by the time i post this, already restock rite? :-) |

ive checked with ou n curve..so far stock arrive thursday lunch time..but only 10-11 units..n all r fully book..but if u talk talk can get..but curve deal is better...i didnt book...i talk talk...so i advice whose lookin must talk talk..or else need to wait restock again...
