Erm, I'm not sure whether there are any newer methods since like 3 months ago until now (I was inactive in the PSP scene within that), but I think you'll need a plugin in order to do that..

So fast? I just paid RM10 to get my firmware updated to 3.70 ...

Well, you can update the PSP by yourself, you know? Now many you can try updating it to V3.80 M33-2.. I'm still yet to do that..

try dl internet player 1 and listen to jpop->kawaii station.lots of anime and game songs!

Well, at first I thought I'll give it a try to update the firmware myself. But scare I might done something to it ...

If the firmware keep on releasing new version, I will try to update it myself ... but still quite blur on how to do it

I make my screenshots using a plugin called "Custom Firmware Extender". Google for it, the latest version is 1.92 if I'm not mistaken.

There are rumors that the upcoming firmware 4.0 will add support for DivX playback.

Oh my God, I can't wait. I really love my PSP every second now.

Thanks a lot. It works but it seems not so good on mine, maybe I use the wrong technique to snap but it works well on Lacus's PSP, same firmware as mine.

phheeww just up graded mine to 3.80 m33-2

if the divx playback is true, hope they won't cap the bit rate to 500kbps anymore and allow for higher bit rates
I believe psp processor is capable of decoding higher bit rate since it has dedicated mpeg4 hardware decoder, although at the cost of battery life. but it will be great as a portable media center to watch downloaded movies on lcd tv

1 question here. How do u use the AOSS in the psp? They ask me 2 press and hold the "AOSS Button" but i dont know where the button is. As for my cousin's psp , he does not haf this AOSS thing in the network setting there any reason y?

You can only use AOSS if your wireless modem supports it. Otherwise, just use your normal network configuration.

If I'm not mistaken, the AOSS feature will only available in Japan PSP. You can use the Fake Region set to 'Japan' and the AOSS selection will pop-up in Network configuration.

what is the SDK folder for?

just upgraded to 3.80 m33-2.... took me quite long to get all necessary file as im on 3.51 m33-7 previously...

and the update is just so easy if u follow the instruction correctly...

mine is PSP1001 and i got the AOSS features, i think after re-format the MSPD with the PSP should get this function...

It was meant for homebrew application developer. If you're not going to develop any homebrews, then just ignore it.

want to ask, the music player right, is it normal it show a very small album art?

3.80 settles the remote play issue for previous custom firmwares. before this they had to do a PSARdump and replace their flash0 files to enable it.

Remote play is pretty impressive, the only failure I got was trying to switch off the ps3 over the internet. Connection got timed out so ps3 left turned on

wah.. so techinical di. how u do the flash 0?

A few ways to access flash0:

1) Recovery menu -> advanced -> toggle flash0

2) M33 VSH recovery menu (press select on XMB) -> change USB to flash0 then activate usb as normal

Be sure to have a NAND dump for your PSP beforehand especially if you have a Slim as corrupted IDstorage cant be shared between PSPs and it cant be recovered even using DCv3 and Pandora.

currently using ptf themes only. i really want to use those cool looking xmb and custom intros but very scared of bricking my psp.

Although I have to warned you people that firmware 3.80 M33-4 will cause noticeable lagging in fast-paced games like Ridge Racer 2 etc. I wish i didn't move from 3.71 didn't I. Well, no turning back, I guess although there's this pandora thing which I can't comprehend.

My advise to fellow LYN is to hold-on for a while at 3.71 M33-4, until they release fix for the game-lag due to memory stick access thingy.

Somehow I wish I did not move from 3.71M33-4. The firmware 3.80M33-4 cause noticeable lagging in my Ridge racer 2 etc. Other than that It's ok.

After reading your post, I straight tested on my games because I have not played any of my racing games since I updated my firmware yesterday.
I tested on Ridge Racer, it works flawlessly for me, no lagging for mine. Maybe mine is the first edition of RR not RR2. Then, I switched on to Sega Rally, another racing games, no problem too.

Maybe others can try on theirs? I am also using 3.80 M33-4 by the way.

Please do try Ridge Racer 2, you'll notice a 1-2 second lag and Wipeout Pulse 1-2 frame unrendered. I don't want to mention GTA. But I think fix is on the way, so no biggie.

what is size of ur memory stick... if 4 gig.. u just have to format ur memory stick to FAT16 format instead of FAT32.. psp will read faster on memory stick with FAT16 format..

4 Gigs formatted via PSP. So is that FAT 32 or FAT16. Sorry to say I do not have one of those memory stick reader/writer to use PC to format.

If 4 GB, PSP will automatically format it to FAT32. If you don't have Memory Stick reader, you can use USB cable to format the memory stick.

yup.. if 4gig.. sure u'll face the lag prob.. so just format ur memory stick to FAT16 format.. then, u can play what ever game as smooth as a silk.. huhu..

How to format specifying filesystem

just connect ur psp to ur pc as usual.. then do the step below...

1. Go to Start Menu -> Run...
2. Type 'cmd' without quotes
3. At command prompt, type:
'format x: /q /fs:FAT' (without quotes, this is for FAT16 filesystem)
(change x to your MS drive)

If asks for a Force Dismount, choose yes.
If it warns you about compatibility problems on FAT16, just ignore it.
If it asks for a Volume Label, just type anything or none at all.

back up ur folder and any save game coz memory stick will be formatted fresh like a baby...

Sure. The strangest thing is yesterday on firmware 3.71 m33-4 there's no lagging in Ridge Racer 2. It's only after firmware upgrade 3.80M33-4 that this problem start. Although I have been on FAT32 since I bought the PSP last week. Well, this is minor thing. let's focus on other stuff like SKYPE, MSN and Yahoo messenger on PSP.

actually.. if u buy ur psp with ur 4 gig memory.. some of seller already formated ur memory stick to FAT16.. so u didnt realize that ur memory already on that format.. BTW... that for everyone that faced the same prob.. actually, this problem also did happen to me.. then i figure out the solution from other forum...

Okay, upon your request I tested my GTA Liberty City Stories, it did show some lagging, or it was actually like that? Only played once so didn't really notice its frame rate. Luckily I am not a fan of GTA series...

Somehow there are some slowdowns with MSes after the 3.80 update. The list is too long to be pasted here. I can't verify the list as I'm still on 3.71

I got that game as well, it doesn't make any differences, perhaps ur memory stick is using Fat32?

GTA is having the most impact on the new firmware, due to it's streaming nature from UMD/mspd.

Tested that game and there are no lag. I'm on 3.80 M33-4 and memory stick formatted to FAT32.

just try to format ur memory stick to FAT16 guys... n then just update ur result ok...

1) Pandora and DCv3 are only needed if you want to downgrade to older FWs. You can also use DCv3 to update to 3.80 but it is easier to use normal method

2) Pandora batt is required to make the PSP to read IPLs straight from MS and DCv3 have the software needed to flash the NAND

3) If you already have a NAND dump then you dont have to make a new one

4) Flashing via USB is buggy on 3.71 M33-2 but it has been fixed on 3.71 M33-4 but to be on the safe side, make sure you have a NAND dump for your slim. NAND on the PSP is where the firmware is stored. There are 4 NAND partitions: flash0, flash1, 2, 3, etc2.. flash0 stores the firmware and flash1 stores the setting of the PSP, flash2 for DRM licenses etc2. Somehow on slim, the flash0 is kinda encrypted and if the partition is damaged, you cant recover it fully unless you have a working NAND dump to restore it.

I use FAT16. I've already try some games....

Result:

1) Wipeout Pulse - Lag a bit....but not much.
2) Ridge Racer 2 - Lag every 3 seconds
3) GTA LCS - Lag almost everytime

Now I'm feeling guilty already bringing up the lag for 3.80 firmware. But do not get paranoid people because I'm sure there will be fix and solution for this. Numerous users worldwide also has reporting the slight slow-down. So just wait a little bit.

3) DCv3 is needed to restrore bricks but the chance of bricking during fw upgrading from MS is quite negligible

4) You cant go into XMB and Recovery mode as well

5) if 3.70 M33 then it is most likely v1

The minimum requirement to upgrade to 3.80 M33 is 3.52 I think so you should be fine upgrading from your current FW. Make sure to upgrade to 3.80 M33-1 first and then only upgrade to M33-4

ok, final confirmation.

first, i have to download the 3.80 firmware, then download the M33-1 and M33-4.

then put the update and M33-1 in PSP/GAME/

since my firmware is 3.71 M33-1, is that possible i use usb to upgrage it to 3.80?

Flashing via USB means rewriting the NAND chips directly using USB connected to a computer. Normal upgrading only flash the NAND using memory stick inside the PSP. You can transfer the files into the memstick via USB.

about the lag problem... so do i.. it happen to me as well .. but only with high end game like GTA... others that that.. it works fine n perfect... but, after saw my psp cant manage to own GTA, fell a bit frustrated coz upgrade my CFW too fast.. huhu.. hopefully, there will be a solution to this problem..

S**T.. supposed to be ok... i already tried to format back to FAT32.. seem better than FAT16.. but then, back to FAT16.. hehe.. just wait for the solution coz lazy to downgrade... BTW, what is ur secret adjustment?

I just edited my post...LOL.

Ridge Racer 2 also working fine now...no lag between 3 seconds like before.

The reason for the lagging is because of the memory stick driver being changed by Sony and the overclocking feature is broken on 3.80M33 to v4. The temporary fix is to use CWCheat to overclock. That should solve the problem temporarily until D_A decides to release -5 to fix the problem.

gosh... if only i knew this earlier I wont rush to update so early

lesson learnt: never rush into CFW update unless it's proven safe / games you play require them

yup.. that right.. maybe next time.. we must wait around 1 month before upgrade to new one... but, just now I've downloaded recovery file to downgrade any CFW M33 to 1.5.. without pandora.. want to wait until this problem solve or just downgrade eh?

But maybe that time games that require firmware 3.80 will be released. From the past firmware releases I notice that when a new firmware is released, 3 months later will come out a game that requires that firmware.

Since 3.80 (official Sony's) was released last month, maybe games released in March such as God of War or Crisis Core, will require 3.80.
