if the divx playback is true, hope they won't cap the bit rate to 500kbps anymore and allow for higher bit rates
I believe psp processor is capable of decoding higher bit rate since it has dedicated mpeg4 hardware decoder, although at the cost of battery life. but it will be great as a portable media center to watch downloaded movies on lcd tv This post has been edited by dattebayo: Jan 16 2008, 02:21 AM |

QUOTE(mengga @ Jan 18 2008, 09:24 AM) QUOTE(Mgsrulz @ Jan 18 2008, 03:20 AM) Somehow I wish I did not move from 3.71M33-4. The firmware 3.80M33-4 cause noticeable lagging in my Ridge racer 2 etc. Other than that It's ok. |

GTA is having the most impact on the new firmware, due to it's streaming nature from UMD/mspd.

gosh... if only i knew this earlier I wont rush to update so early
lesson learnt: never rush into CFW update unless it's proven safe / games you play require them |

QUOTE(Lakum @ Jan 23 2008, 08:11 PM) I only saw .avi = divx. I would like to know too.... not necessary, avi just a container, some times is divx, sometimes is xvid (open source), and last time was Indeo/cinepak But it would be great if PSP can support H.264 @ x264 (.mkv). I prefer this than divx (.avi). PSP can support h264 AVC, but only limited to baseline profile with not more than 500kbps of video bitrate This post has been edited by dattebayo: Jan 23 2008, 09:40 PM |

IF im scared of updating it myself, i bring to PSP shops to update it, how long it takes?.. and how much agak agak the pricing will be? look at 3.51 M33 and download it, open the readme file, from there, follow this and steps below QUOTE 2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE) From there, you are on the M33 wagons, proceed to download 3.80 M33, understand the readme first. 3 - Download official 3.51 eboot, rename it to 351.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/" 4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/" 5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.51 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB. 6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.51 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation. 7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually. 8 - Enjoy your 3.51 M33 I cannot make any guarantee that these are the exact steps If going to shop update, expect no less than RM50. It takes just a while to update only |

I'm interested in a PSP but completed know nothing about it. I've gone tru the FAQ at post #1 and would like to ask few questions. #1 What is the difference purchasing from console shops instead of purchasing from Sony Style Malaysia? difference in warranty, local console shops are selling parallel imported PSPs and Sony-MY won't help you service it. #2 What is a modded PSP that console shops sells? Why are they not warrantied? What is the purpose of a modded PSP? The same reason as a modded PS2. In other words it is to run homebrew and some "other" games. They are not warrantied as long as they found the modded firmware inside #3 What does region do/mean? PSP don't have games region, but do have UMD movie region which follows DVD region #4 PSP got wifi. How do i type alphabets when i surf the net? Onscreen keyboard, much like how you type SMS #5 When i build my PC i have basic knowledge about PC and how to troubleshoot. Do i need some basic knowledge how to handle a PSP to own one? Like is there command or scripts that i need to mess with if my only intention with the PSP is to play games and maybe surf the net? To play PSP games is as easy as ABC. You 'll need some knowledge in installing modded firmware and homebrew apps #6 Where do most LYN surfer buy their UMD games from? The games selection seems limited. playasia, or local website like TSB.com.my, or local game shops #7 Is there instant messenger(IM) for PSP? Skype as the official IM client for PSP now #8 Will there be a new PSP soon? Do YOU GUYS recommend me to purchase the PSP without having a game desired? Till now I only play computer fps games so no favourites There will not be any variation in PSP hardware for the time being. Recommend or not it really depends on you. But to play FPS on a PSP is a no-no to me. What PSP great is able to serve as portable entertainment, able to deliver near PS2 graphics. Upcoming game like God of War will expose hidden potentials in PSP hardware. |

if u re those using PSP for gaming only, and would not be excited over the online radio, skype, go! messenger, then stay at 3.71 would be a better choice, until there's a game that u want to play that require 3.80

I was using PSP video 9 to convert a MPEG4 AVC 1080p file to an AVC 480x272 768kbps Stereo/128kbps, but all I get is "Unsupported data" under the video menu. Has anyone encountered this problem before? The resolution and bitrate falls under the compatible list of PSP, how come it was not playable?

QUOTE(vorchiel @ Apr 19 2008, 06:43 PM) tried that, chosen AVC H264, video bitrate = 720kbps, audio=64k AAC , resolution=480x272but still displayed as "unsupported" in XMB is that Sony making a false claim that beginning firmware 2.0 later they will add support to AVC file up to 720x480? Why several tries still fail to prove that... This post has been edited by dattebayo: Apr 19 2008, 07:50 PM |

QUOTE(minthiam @ Oct 25 2008, 09:56 PM) I've accidentally got a component cable to my psp while I'm having a CRT TV. I tried plug and play but it only got sound but no image. Is it not compatible? Somebody help~~ could be your TV not supporting progressive scan. Go to Settings > Connected video display > Component/D terminal output, and change the setting to interlace. |
