I got a few questions.

-I earn about RM 3500 monthly before tax / epf. which is 42k per year.
-I only have 1 credit card from maybank which have a credit limit of RM 6000 (issued 2 months ago)

The question is, why when i apply for HSBC classic visa, i get rejected. And i got a One card from UOB recently and the credit limit is only RM 4000. Is there anyway to get a higher credit limit?

Thanks in advance.

Applications are evaluated in many many ways and conditions so high income doesnt guarantee successful application..

Like the time i apply UOB at pcfair i got the card but my manager's application got rejected tongue.gif

I think UOB One card credit limit is fixed?

Try CIMB DA Gold, CIMB Petronas Mastercard Gold or Maybank Petronas Visa Gold. All cards are free for life without conditions. Usually gold cards offer you higher credit limit.

maybe because its only a classic card. I have never heard of any classic card with high credit limit on initial approval. be patient and the credit limit will increase overtime as long as you pay the card on time.

sohaix,

Credit limit depends on each bank discretion and your usage. I refer one of my CC with 20k credit limit, and my own PV a/c with HSBC, but HSBC still reject me... LOL ... Anyway, nothing to lose, as the purpose to apply is just for the gift tongue.gif

One way to increase credit limit, is depends on your usage. Previously I was hitting close and over my 7k... i request and they increase... over again, request increase... all the way up.

Now no more hitting >10k/mth usage tongue.gif Mostly on business purpose and I paid in full every month after claim from company.

Frankly, I don't find much difference using CC from local/overseas bank whether in M'sia, or HK, SG, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, etc. Never encounter problem so far. I can use local CC in Vietnam, but my colleague "overseas" bank Visa/Mastercard got problem when swipe, until have to make overseas call back to customer service to check. whistling.gif Security/fraud prevention ?

Hmm not support Malaysia?

Just get the card associated with your savings/current account so that repayment is easier.

Most of the banks I asked mentioned that the supplementary bill is sent to the principle card holder. Which cc provides an option for the supplementary bill to be sent separately to the supplementary card holder? (Without revealing the card activities not related to him/her)
*
Just applied for Maybank Petronas Visa card, and in the form there's an option to send bill separately for supplimentary card..

you can apply citibank goldcard, but goldcard also means higher annual fee. hsbc card at pcfair got promotion fee waved for 3 years. Only maybank & cimb is free one, the cimb gold card gives 10K credit limit.

Not a surprise. Almost all gold cards have 10k as their entry level limit.

if you pay in full on time everytime, the bank will not have problem increasing your credit limit.
