As i know Direct Acess quite quite high credit limit, apply master/visa can get 18k combine limit easily, But i like the design of cimb and wish to apply CIMB petronas card. Does the Direct Access and CIMB Gold limit are the same? Since both card also under CIMB bank.
My concern is the credit limit, pls advise.
*
I know someone who holds CIMB Enrich and DA cards and holds 2 matching credit limit. This person was already a DA card holder when it was still being managed by SBB bank. If this is true, holders of CIMB and DA cards will be given matching credit limits that are not shared. (E.g. DA 10K and CIMB 10K each, provides a total of RM20K for both cards) I suspect the bank still uses 2 system to manage DA cards & CIMB cards thus they can't provide a shared credit limit.

Not sure whether this scenario is still applicable today. Thus the likely scenario for you are : -

1. Given 2 equal credit limit.
2. Given 2 credit limit but the CIMB Petronas credit card is of lesser limit.
3. 1 single credit limit based on your DA card

Bear in mind, credit limit is solely the discretion of the bank. Under normal circumstances, there's a very low chance of a bank giving you multiple credit limit if you hold multiple cards products. Good luck in your attempt !

Mastercard Paypass does not need a signature. I've used MC Paypass at Isetan outlets before (One of the early adopters before it fizzles out. Now don't see they use the terminals anymore) and they never ask for signature. Probably the KFC staff was unsure and asked for a signature anyway.  hmm.gif

I also feel strange too but I'm pretty sure that they used the Paypass terminal.

hye, Happy CNY to you if you're a Chinese. Otherwise, enjoy your long weekend.

not sure where to ask this question about ambank nextg debit card.

I bought a few things from amazon.jp, and just now i got a message that says "Order Status: Your payment revision required".

"Before we can proceed with your order, your credit card's issuing bank requires you to do one of the following:
* Update the expiration date on the credit card you entered.
* Choose an alternate credit card from your account.
* Enter a new credit card number."

was my card rejected? i banked in around RM350 a few days ago but why is this happening? i triple-checked everything to make sure I didn't key in anything wrong. help?

Hi kindaichi, your question is probably OT since you are asking about banking matters in a credit card thread.

I can only say it probably does not matter where your bank is since you can use the GIRO/IBG facility to pay for your credit card bill.

Congratulations, don't let the card control you.
The minimum credit line is 3K. However, if you submitted your bank statements with millions of ringgit in savings, then it will probably be higher smile.gif
You may request for an increase in credit limit, but it's up to the bank's discretion. Some supporting documents would help boost your chances, ie payslips if pay increased, additional income (from own business), bank statements, etc.
Personally, I feel CIMB limits are low though.

myusername could be right as the entry point credit limit starts @ RM3K. Probably the likely credit limit would be RM3-5K for you. Don't worry about the low credit limit as banks are cautious as well and you gotta admit - you just started working and probably do not have a very long credit history for the banks to be comfortable with you.

They probably won't entertain you if you ask for a credit limit increase right away and you stand a better chance to ask for this after 1 year. If you are unhappy about your credit limit then probably a better approach would be to apply for another card from another bank but you got to be careful not to get excited spending money that you do not own. I've known many people who got excited after getting their credit card, goes on a spending spree for 3 months (before hitting the credit ceiling) and then in debt for the next 9 months paying the balance. shakehead.gif

Oh yes ... BTW, you can actually call the CIMB CS to ask for your credit limit. Call in, pretend to check your card application status and when asked "Is there anything else I can help you?" - ask the question. My advise don't waste your time asking for a credit limit increase now as they will ask more supporting documents to back you up. (Salary slips, EA forms, income tax statements, etc)

got it from Fwd email:

Currently there are a few petrol purchase related
credit cards in the market. Lets do a detailed review
or analysis on these few cards. Imagine spending
RM300/month on petrol and getting a 3% rebate convert
to a RM108 savings yearly!!!!! Ok ready, get set GO!!!

BHP
- UOB ( also available for SCB and Affin but i am not
going to discuss about this )

UOB offers 2% cash rebate (redeemable after accumulate
RM50) for both classic and gold card

Use this card together with BHP E-points, 1 point for
RM1 purchase of petrol and you can redeem RM5 for each
500 epoints you have. That convert to another 1% of
rebate

Therefore the total rebate for using UOB with BHP
Epoint is 2%+1%= 3%

Petronas
- Maybank (Petronas VISA)

Offer 5X treat points (TP) for every RM of petrol
purchases. You need to spend RM1800 in order to get
9000TP which is redemable for RM50 (RM10X5 worth of
petrol voucher). This convert to a rebate of 2.78%
(RM50/RM1800). BUT 5X EXTRA POINTS IS ONLY VALID TILL
31 JULY 2008.

Use this card together with Petronas Mesra Card, every
RM1 purchase of petrol will get 1 mesra point. If you
use RM7600 on petrol, u are entitle for RM50 cash
voucher which is equivalent to another rebate of 0.66%

Therefore the total rebate for using Maybank with Kad
mesra is 2.78%+0.66%= 3.44% (THIS CALCULATION IS ONLY
VALID TILL 31 JULY 2008 BECAUSE OF THE 5X POINTS
PROMOTIN BY MAYBANK)

- CIMB (Petronas Master)

CIMB offers 2% cash rebate for both classic and gold
card

Use this card together with Petronas Mesra Card, every
RM1 purchase of petrol will get 1 mesra point. If you
use RM7600 on petrol, u are entitle for RM50 cash
voucher which is equivalent to another rebate of 0.66%

Therefore the total rebate for using CIMB with Kad
mesra is 2%+0.66%= 2.66%

Shell
- Citibank

Offers 1.5% rebate (classic card and assume no balance
carry forward) while 2.5% rebate (gold card and assume
no balance carry forward)

Use this card together with Bonus Link Card, every RM1
purchase of petrol will get 1 Bonus Link point (there
is bonus points structure too). If you use RM5200 on
petrol, u are entitle for RM50 cash voucher which is
equivalent to another rebate of 0.96%

Therefore the total rebate for using Citibank Card
with Bonus Link card is 1.5%+0.96%= 2.46% for classic
and 2.5%+0.96%=3.46% for gold card

Other Banks

Please take note that RHB also has travel money points
which offer 5X points for all petrol purchases on any
petrol station.

CONCLUSION:-
If you can get classis card only, then I suggest you
to use UOB (total 3% rebate). If you can get gold
card, then go for Citibank (total 3.46% rebate).

If you are too lazy to make payment (or it's really so
inconvenient for you to make payment at Citibank or
UOB), then use Maybank or CIMB bank.

For the lazy bums, I suggest you to take Maybank (if
you fancy the 5X treat points) else just go for
CIMB... personally I think MBB and CIMB provides
equivalent service...

Hope this helps to summarize almost all of the petrol
linked credit cards in Malaysia. Adios!!!

Good. Care to summarize in a matrix, with a range of spending, which one returns what % ?
e.g.
RM1-RM300 /mth
RM300-600 /mth
>RM600 /mth

Just like to highlight some points abt the petrol card analysis above:

CIMB & MBB Petronas cards don't qualify for Mesra points

Citibank charges annual fee unless you are very diligent in calling up for waiver.

Did not do analysis on UOB since i don't pump BHP. Think standard chartered may have a higher rebate (saw on signboards).

Amex has 2x points for all purchases including petrol.
