Unless if you intends to use the card outside of the country most of the time then I'll suggest you to get a card issued by an international bank and consider VISA instead of Mastercard.
Any specific reason why are you suggesting him to get VISA instead of Mastercard ? All the countries i've been to accept both VISA and Mastercard. But AMEX is still the best tongue.gif

I see Maybank one need to wait up to one month..So, CIMB one roughly how long is the wait time? TQ

My mom's only took a week. Anyway, she is a government servant. I guess that is why it is easier for her. For Maybank, i am not so sure. They never called my mom and just couriered the card to my mom's office when it's been approved. The whole process took almost a month.

I've been to countries where you can count the numbers of merchants accepting credit card. (Not even past 10 fingers) And they only accept VISA credit card. But I'll agree with you that most countries do not have this problem.
AMEX is a different league altogether - I guess most Malaysians prefer the credit card model where they can choose not to pay the entire bill if they want to.

Maybe this person should go to Bank Negara and check whether she's being blacklisted (FIS/CTOS list) in some way unknowingly. At least she can act upon it if she knows the truth.

Perhaps, did u ever lost ur IC or Driving Licence ? Have u ever be a guarantor ? blink.gif It is weird when a fresh degree holder with stable job ( plus clean credit record ) would be rejected. rclxub.gif

Yes, I agree. It's rather weird but not to jump to conclusions, just make that check at Bank Negara.

I know a friend who had a similar problem - clean record, no debt and suddenly when want to make loan/credit card application was rejected by every bank. Finally, one bank mentioned that the name was blacklisted in FIS/CTOS due to someone failed to make payment many years back and the bank proceeded to blacklist the borrower and guarantors. This friend was the guarantor and unknowingly got blacklisted for something he/she did not do. (I think it's unfair to the guarantor) hmm.gif

if ur application is not submitted, hsbc online tracker will display that it is unable to track your application.

if ur application is submitted and being processed, it will mention that's under review

if ur application is approved, it will mention that it is sending your cc to your shortly.

they will call u to verify that u are working at ur working place before they start process your application. if they havent call u at ur work place yet, chances are that ur application has not even been submitted yet.

nvm just saw your reply. HSBC is pretty strict on cc application. maybe you have an ongoing application for homeloan or car loan (or something which parents put under ur name?).

otherwise just go for the local bank's credit cards, if ur starting salary is high enough, u can even get gold card straight.

hi guys, i guess someone probably have already stated this problem in this 116 pages thread. But really hope u guys can help me out irregardless. I have a public bank account, and my salaries are all banked into the public bank account. recently I've just got myself a citibank visa gold shell card.

The problem now is that I live in Perak. The KL or Pg citibank branhes are too far for me to reach conviniently. I tried using public bank online banking for paying off my citibank credit card and I just can't seem to get it to work! As I don't seem to be able to find the options for paying to 3rd party credit card. Same goes with the Public Bank ATM machine.

I'm not sure if it's just my ignorance or just something that i missed out looking at the ATM or online banking. So I hope that any of u guys out there could enlighten me regarding this problem. Thanks guys

Anyone heard the news that people that never pay off the old debts there will be no longer 20days grace period?
*
The Interest Free Period for retail transactions will be 20 days from the statement date and is applicable only for cardmember who pay in full on or

before the payment due date.
If cardmember opts to pay partial or minimum payment, finance charges for retail transactions will be calculated

from the day the transactions are posted to the card account. blink.gif

copied from citibank term & condition

I think Retail transactions exclude Cash Advance, Balance Transfer and any other credit plans. sweat.gif

Guys.... Banks and Cards are making our money....

We should make money back from them!

How?

And will go up to at least USD200 like MasterCard Stock!

Open a brokerage account @ US, TT money there and a few click, you are a shareholder of Visa biggrin.gif

Generally whichever tactic you use, it'll work if the bank feels that you have been spending actively or a huge spender but more importantly being able to post payments promptly and to use your credit limit wisely.

Try to make another follow-up on the matter. They probably did not process your annual fee waiver - if still no answer just terminate your card. Maybe that'll attract their attention and maybe it'll not.

Just don't get upset and just apply another card before canceling MBB's. I can tell ya that service level fluctuates in a bank - some days they are good and some days they are not. This applies to both local and international banks. Remember the credit card market is competitive these days - you don't have to worry about getting another credit card if you are not happy with your current one.

I just remembered something ... if you apply HSBC card, make sure you do not have 2 pending approval application from other banks. HSBC can see this information when they do their checking on an individual. If such a scenario occurs, HSBC's policy is to reject your application irrespective you are a potential "to be" approved customer. (Means you have no problems and under normal circumstances, your application stands to be approved)
