QUOTE(sam240 @ Feb 20 2008, 09:50 AM)
hey guys.....i'm using my CIMB Direct Access to apply for CIMB Petronas CC, today they just called me and inform me that I cannot get approved because CIMB do not allow to hold for more than 1 CC from their bank...sad..... so I need to cancel my DA before I can get the Petronas CC..... why....why....
*
What ? I'm a supplementary card holder, my mom's the principal and we have both the "free-for-life" CIMB Mastercard and CIMB Petronas Mastercard.

QUOTE(AiRBooM @ Feb 27 2008, 03:06 PM)
the most easier to get plantinum is CIMB Direct Access... only require 80k annual income.. .other famous bank like HSBC , Citibank , Maybank etc all need 100-120k annual income...  rm5k/month confirm cannot get .. unless u got a guarantor..  or ask your parents that own it sup for you  smile.gif
*
HSBC Visa Platinum is the hardest to get. The minimum annual income is RM150,000. HSBC also have Premier Mastercard. It is not a platinum card but a World Mastercard. This Premier Mastercard is reserved only to HSBC Premier customers. So i believe HSBC platinum/world credit card is the most exclusive credit card in Malaysia besides American Express Platinum Charge Card.

QUOTE(siutimtim @ Mar 8 2008, 12:34 AM)
I checked their web site.. all cards also have to pay.. the agent bluff one is it.. if free for life with no condition = direct access ?
*
Standard Chartered Visa/Mastercard Platinum is free-for-life if you are their priority banking customer.

i want to ask the hsbc device you guys talk about is it for their

powervantage account ? or basic saving account ?
what is the requirement to have that powervantage account ?
*
The security device is meant for those who use their online banking facility. I'm not sure if there is any special requirement for one to be eligible to open the PowerVantage account at HSBC like their Premier Banking. But i do know there are TWO types of PowerVantage account. They are "PowerVantage account with full facilities" and "PowerVantage account with E-Chequeing facilities". For "PowerVantage account with full facilities", HSBC will charge you RM15/month should your funds in the bank fall below RM75,000.00.

hie guys, wanna ask those who have a HSBC credit card (Premier holder would be a plus).

QUOTE(raist86 @ Apr 5 2008, 01:03 AM)
I'm going to purchase a Dell monitor through their website. Just found out that only Maybank and Citibank credit card holders can do 0% interest flexi payment. Is there any way i can split the payment of the monitor to 12 months using the HSBC card and what are the charges involved? Please help, am purchasing by tomorrow.
I think there is no HSBC credit card interest free on promotion for Dell at the moment. Anyway, i don't think there is any HSBC Premier customer that would do the flexi payment stuff because these people can easily afford to pay in full anytime. But of course, unless you are HSBC Premier customer because you have a loan of RM200K or more from HSBC instead of investment/FD of RM200K or more with HSBC.

Previously MBB Amex credit card classic & gold has 2 yrs waiver. Not sure about now.
I heard no waiver for the newly launched Platinum.
*
MBB AMEX credit card still have 2-year annual fee waiver. On the 3rd year you just need to call the MBB credit card helpline.

As David83 said, Citibank Choice Card. But besides the Citibank Choice Card, Citibank Visa/Mastercard Platinum can also be free for life, provide you are their Citigold customer.

QUOTE(jack7155 @ Apr 11 2008, 01:33 PM)

btw, just now at PC Fair, the salesman pushing sales on Amex card.
saying spend RM1,000 including various of purchases can have 6 months installment plan.
AMEX is quite good. Just a shame not all merchant accepts AMEX. I have 3 kinds of credit card now. 1x Mastercard, 1x Visa and 1x AMEX. I try to use my AMEX whenever possible due to their awesome RM1 = 2 treatpoints system rclxms.gif You'll do just fine as long as you treat you credit card like debit card.

For certain person AMex not good at all... laugh.gif They have to pay full amount of debt instead of min payment  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
Then Maybank AMEX Classic/Gold credit card, or the recently launched AMEX Platinum credit card is the card for you. These cards are all credit cards so it function the same as your Visa/Mastercard. I am currently using Maybank AMEX Gold and i never paid for the annual fee rclxms.gif

Anyone has tried using Amex for petrol? If yes, what petrol brand accepts this carD?
*
Yes. Shell. And they will give you point for that (RM50 = 100 Treatpoints). Unlike Visa/Mastercard, there is no point for petrol transaction.

is HSBC CC good?
It's one of the best. Mainly due to its global presence and reputation. Citibank is just as good, if not better.

now you spend once a month and you will get the hsbc card fee waive no matter what card you have

Is that true ? Would be awesome if that is really the case. I'm thinking of applying a less catchy HSBC credit card, preferably the classic HSBC Visa yet continue to enjoy my current credit line rclxms.gif

Maybank good meh? I started to dislike RHB credit cards shakehead.gif
*
I don't know how to say one particular credit card is good but Maybank AMEX gives 2xTreatpoint for RM1 which is awesome.

QUOTE(lil`pumpkinz @ Apr 26 2008, 09:13 AM)
Very seldom I use CIMB cards, most of the time just swipe the CT bank ones.
*
I use CIMB Mastercard the most. Because the redemption point is lower than other banks' credit cards. Like it very much because it is free for life with absolutely no string.

*
Yeah it's Weird. I certainly don't want to hold so many credit cards. So troublesome. I have only three cards from two different banks (AMEX, Mastercard and Visa). I use my AMEX whenever possible due to the RM1 = 2 Treatpoints rule.

QUOTE(yks8845 @ Apr 28 2008, 12:43 PM)
IF free for life can consider ..but i don think annual fee for platinum can be waive as easier.. sweat.gif

Check CIMB Platinum Mastercard. It's free for life. Absolutely no condition smile.gif

I have just received my PBB card... however, was wondering why the card details didn't appear in my PBB Online...
And, what is the pin sent to my home about?
*
If i'm not mistaken, PBB will only add your credit card detail to PBB online only when you request so. I do have PBB online account, and it is strictly for my PBB Visa Electron only. I specifically requested to them not to add my savings account information to my PBB e-banking account.

I'm new in this thread. I would like to know if I am about to apply a credit card .. which one should go for ? What should I start to learn about before making any move ? smile.gif
Thanks.

If you don't use it too frequent then you should look for those cards that are free for life with zero condition. For instance, CIMB Bank Mastercard.

Unless if you intends to use the card outside of the country most of the time then I'll suggest you to get a card issued by an international bank and consider VISA instead of Mastercard.
Any specific reason why are you suggesting him to get VISA instead of Mastercard ? All the countries i've been to accept both VISA and Mastercard. But AMEX is still the best tongue.gif

QUOTE(accs_centre @ May 1 2008, 01:44 AM)
I see Maybank one need to wait up to one month..So, CIMB one roughly how long is the wait time? TQ
*
My mom's only took a week. Anyway, she is a government servant. I guess that is why it is easier for her. For Maybank, i am not so sure. They never called my mom and just couriered the card to my mom's office when it's been approved. The whole process took almost a month.

Ya definitely need luck.......my dat colleague manage to get her card already (both of us with same income as we'r still new in company). juz now called up HSBC.....gosh  sweat.gif  still working on labour day.....they say that my application was decline........i did ask them y........izzit the verification blablabla......but somehow he said actually no problem with my application (i guess he repeats dat for all case), and will file an appeal for my case.

Anyway, i already lazy to bother about this, after being rejected by citi and this HSBC...........just like wat u say depends on luck. just hope my DA and Ambank application will not end up like dat.

one thing that baffles me. why on earth do you guys want to keep upgrading?
does one knows that the annual charges of a platinum card is not exactly "token fee"?

so what if you've got it waived? but for how long? or how much does it cost you to remained waived subsequently?

it's a good thing that directaccess cards are free(without any CAVEATS). the rest have some interesting ways of masking their charges, weaving it with conditions.
Actually you can always negotiate the terms with the bank so you do not have to call in every year to ask them to waive the annual fee for you for Platinum credit card. For instance, Standard Chartered Priority Banking customers usually are offered only either a free for life VISA Platinum or Mastercard Platinum as long as you maintain your status as their priority customer but some of these privileged few managed to get both VISA Platinum and Mastercard Platinum. You just need to negotiate with them.

It is the BNM policy for them to charge ANNUAL FEE. In Western countries or other countries MUCH HIGHER!

Definately not in United States. Everything is pretty much free due to stiff competition.
