QUOTE(HughieRmX @ Apr 30 2008, 10:10 AM) Greetings Guys, I'm new in this thread. I would like to know if I am about to apply a credit card .. which one should go for ? What should I start to learn about before making any move ? Thanks. Regards, HughiE If you don't use it too frequent then you should look for those cards that are free for life with zero condition. For instance, CIMB Bank Mastercard.

Consider the cash back cards since the points may expire if your usage is too low for any redemption.

of all the credit cards, I choose Citibank for international and Public for local.
Citibank promotions rock and their service isn't bad too. Everything is through the phone

QUOTE(accs_centre @ May 1 2008, 01:13 AM) CIMB and Maybank's Petronas co-brand card, which one u think is better? It's an individual preference my friend. Both are more or less the same but maybe you have a preference in mind that you like better than the other. Some prefer the M2U factor in terms of payment but if you ask me ... you can use GIRO interbank transfer to pay for the cc bill, so it doesn't matter if you don't mind the RM2 fee. Right now I think perhaps the obvious difference is the processing time .... you could get the CIMB card faster than the Petronas card. And if you are using the card locally most of the time then shouldn't be a problem either way. Unless if you intends to use the card outside of the country most of the time then I'll suggest you to get a card issued by an international bank and consider VISA instead of Mastercard. Its true that the processing time for Maybank Petronas Visa takes about 1 month. This is because of the overwhelming response to this card. My insider source told me that till today more than 200,000 applications have been received. I have never had any problem using my Maybank CC in Australia and Europe. However it is advisable to inform your bank prior to your overseas trip so that you dont encounter any embarrassing situation when trying to use your CC overseas. Your transaction may not go through if you fail to inform your bank.

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Apr 29 2008, 01:44 PM) They will call your working to confirm that u are working there (they might call your boss to verify too). From what i heard, HSBC wont call u to let u know that ur cc has been approved, but they will call if ur cc application is rejected. u can use the online tracker application at their website to check the status of ur application. the online tracker thingy is useless, i already know they processing my application since last 2 wks, coz they did call me to fax some other doc, but somehow the tracker thing til now is not working at all. it's better to juz directly call them and ask. QUOTE(siutimtim @ Apr 29 2008, 01:52 PM) the agent say they will call me if approve not call office wor.. so slow anyone has real experiece with hsbc no hear punya?? erm.....i apply earlier than my colleague who is sitting next to me. she got receive call fr them at office but mine no news at all. not sure whether is rejected or not as i haven call them to check my status yet. Ya definitely need luck.......my dat colleague manage to get her card already (both of us with same income as we'r still new in company). juz now called up HSBC.....gosh still working on labour day.....they say that my application was decline........i did ask them y........izzit the verification blablabla......but somehow he said actually no problem with my application (i guess he repeats dat for all case), and will file an appeal for my case. Anyway, i already lazy to bother about this, after being rejected by citi and this HSBC...........just like wat u say depends on luck. just hope my DA and Ambank application will not end up like dat.
