Perhaps, did u ever lost ur IC or Driving Licence ? Have u ever be a guarantor ? blink.gif It is weird when a fresh degree holder with stable job ( plus clean credit record ) would be rejected.  rclxub.gif

Yes, I agree. It's rather weird but not to jump to conclusions, just make that check at Bank Negara.

I know a friend who had a similar problem - clean record, no debt and suddenly when want to make loan/credit card application was rejected by every bank. Finally, one bank mentioned that the name was blacklisted in FIS/CTOS due to someone failed to make payment many years back and the bank proceeded to blacklist the borrower and guarantors. This friend was the guarantor and unknowingly got blacklisted for something he/she did not do. (I think it's unfair to the guarantor)  hmm.gif

nvm just saw your reply. HSBC is pretty strict on cc application. maybe you have an ongoing application for homeloan or car loan (or something which parents put under ur name?).

otherwise just go for the local bank's credit cards, if ur starting salary is high enough, u can even get gold card straight.
*
nah....never lost anything before. guarantor oso never. guess that citi and hsbc was too strict gua. but today i called to check on my DA card and it's approved already. will be sending to me by next wk, at least i dun hav 2 go to the bank negara trip juz to check whether i'm blacklisted. sweat.gif sweat.gif

i'm going oversea next fri ady.....i need a visa card......dat's y i'm desperately needing the card urgently. Didn't know citi and hsbc took so much trouble doh.gif

QUOTE(hye @ May 1 2008, 11:46 PM)
I just remembered something ... if you apply HSBC card, make sure you do not have 2 pending approval application from other banks. HSBC can see this information when they do their checking on an individual. If such a scenario occurs, HSBC's policy is to reject your application irrespective you are a potential "to be" approved customer. (Means you have no problems and under normal circumstances, your application stands to be approved)
*
Ic.....guess that could be one of their reason for decline my application. but anyway, they could be the one losing out as i plan to do a lot of shopping with my new cc card. rclxm9.gif

Does anyone have idea on this ? my friend went to oversea for 2 month , before he left he didt notice he had credit card outstanding balance around rm40.( so he didt make any payment for around 2 and half month),

Now he is back and found that his card was blocked. He clear up his payment today.

Does it mean that his card would block permanent or temporary only ?

@candy_chl,
I'm actually surprised U had so much issues with HSBC. It took them less than 5 working days to send it out; I put in an application last Thursday evening and received the card via courier this morning.

@MakNok,
Just to double check, what's the min amount needed to be charged to HSBC before U qualify for that watch?  Mine hasn't arrived and I'm wondering if I should make the call *grins*

Am also thinking of cancelling this existing HSBC Gold credit card except I don't want the salesperson who took processed my application to lose out on his commission so am wondering if i should wait it out - does anyone know what's the wait time like?

credit limit might not mean much, but let's put it this way

Dad issued a supp cc to his so that he can use it when there's emergency, but he's afraid that he will mis-use / lose it. so he put a RM 50 monthly limit on his kid's cc.

And another scenario, u saw a laptop on dell's website and u need to buy it, later u realise that ur cc limit is short of a few hundred ringgit and the online offer will only last a few more hours.

childish examples but oh well u get the picture tongue.gif.

if u buy notebooks online, i dont think there are many vendors that actually offer you direct debit from bank acc.

another more serious scenario, what if u get into an accident and need to deposit money immediately to get some urgent treatment at the hospital, and u just cant wait for ur medical card to be checked and approved? sometimes the "downpayment" is quite high and it'll be a letdown if the limit isnt high enough.

siutimtim: just an example la tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif . anwyay, u seen my point lo. the kid will think "WTH can rm 50 buy??? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif lol
*still recovering from insomnia.

anyway, anyway can answer me about the 2% petrol rebate using da cc? i thought it only apply to co brand cimb cc.
