Yesterday mid night, I just only submiited my online application for citibank clear card.........today lunch time they already call me. They even sending a despatch boy to come to my office next mon to collect my documents. Talk about efficiency......

I wonder whether will my application get thru as a colleague of mine had already applied twice....both also rejected. So far among my colleague, none of their application succeed. I'm just wondering whether mine will succeed? as my salary background likely to be the same like theirs.........

Does local ppl have more advantage?? sweat.gif

any reason why the application always rejected ? maybe your company has bad finance record ?

as what I know, it is very easy to get citibank card because they are very agresive.. after one year they automatically upgrade gold to you some more.. I got 2 friends also got free upgrade card but not limit lo.. limit for gold card rm5k only.. like my ONE platinum card..
*
My colleague none know what's the reason.......

But one thing for sure is when I told the agent who call me today about my company......he directly told me that my company is one of their financial listing......(his english damn great.....and I don't really understand what he mean)......and they could easily get our company record. My company is an international company. So I don't think is has bad record.

Ya my bro even told me it's easy to get.....currently his limit very high too.....but i didn't ask how much. But definitely he recommend me to get fr citibank first before trying the locals

how come?
you got open saving account with citibank, meaning u got lots of money there le... haha...

anyways, i thinks the verification process is fail, ur company HR is un-reachable when the citibank CS call for verification. bad luck for you...

it's happended to my colleague. my fren is working inside the the bank, telling me this.
*
really? i not so sure about the HR at my side la........but then i did give their number to them as my company advice us not to give out our direct line...........actually can the citibank CS call my direct line instead of the HR? .......if can then i'm going to give them my direct line ......HR my side are useless.... doh.gif .....that's why my company turn over time was fast .

actually the citibank CS should try call a few times before rejecting right..........as unlikely those HR ppl wil sit there wait their call.

Fast approval is always a marketing pitch used by the cc agents - countless times I heard this and more often than not this wouldn't be the case. In my entire history of card application, Petronas (Recent) & RHBBank (Several years back) took the longest - 1 month or more.  Approval of the card is done by someone from another section of the bank - if you have a good credit record, approval can be fast.

If you ask me, it all depends on your luck. My MBB Petronas took more than 1 month to approve but my friends got it within 2-3 weeks. Discounts ? This depends on what sort of things you like - most discounts are for branded shops for normal priced items. Unless you wanna go for UOB One card but let's not go into THAT topic again. I'm tired of the senseless discussion around it.

Added on April 2, 2008, 11:05 pm

Emm ... not really. These CS handle hundreds of calls and hundreds of applications on a daily basis. If they miss your call, it'll be simple to assume that you miss your chance to be verified already.
*
Wah....definitely i'm not trying RHB bank. How fast is the approval for HSBC? after being rejected by citi, i thought of trying with HSBC or UOB.

good credit record......i dun think i hav a bad one though.......citi rejected me likely due to my AI was only ~25K. i never had a credit card b4 except the one supplementary fr my parents which i only use for emergency. currently still having it.......but of course now already working, hoping to get my own card.

actually when applying credit card, if i disclose i hav a credit card without telling them is supplemetary.......wil my approval be fast as i ady 'had' a credit card?? can they find out that it's actually supplementary??
QUOTE(yks8845 @ Apr 2 2008, 11:15 PM)
You may try HSBC and UOB  smile.gif

Normally citibank CS will call ur company HR during first or second week period when u submited ur application..i am sure they will call after lunch hour..unless ur company HR person always not around their place ( means late came back during lunch, or go somewhere else to lepak ) sweat.gif

And citibank CS would not call u personally for verification...so useless u give them ur direct line number.. smile.gif
*
isn't it funny that one side agent dying to get customer to sign up for a cc.......and the other side CS rejecting client's applications just because they miss one call?? where is the company professionalism?? shakehead.gif

i know UOB doesn't call up the HR for verifications.....how bout HSBC?? do they call for verification as well?? if depending on my HR to pick up these calls.......i can just 4get about applying card fr banks like citi

QUOTE(fikrie @ Apr 3 2008, 10:00 AM)
I'd suggest HSBC.. quick response.. but dunno whether they can process quick.. If you good lucky, certain sales agent might try to get you Gold card.. with 10k credit limit.. I've experienced this once, but i didnt go for it coz already got 2 card.. Nnt byk hutang woo.. may get default and go bankrupt!
*
my AI only ~25K can get gold card meh........somemore with 10K limit...... rclxub.gif

QUOTE(fikrie @ Apr 3 2008, 02:48 PM)
try la with different bank.. one way another ur application might get approved somehow, unless u got bad credit history..  i once applied for citibank, got rejected probably coz i didnt pay celcom bill dat time.. then applied for maybank.. 3 weeks later got my card.. it depends la..

if u wish to apply loan, most banks will need the applicant be employed at least one year, then they may consider.. if you work private, then the requirements may get a bit extensive compared to those work with govt..

whether u need cc or loan, depends on your need ofcoz.. if u like to shop online, or just small thing.. can apply cc.. if u wanna buy somtin big, loan is ok.. most important, u could afford to pay it later.. dont go for along dah la..

i guess others have better advice than me..
*
bad history due to a celcom bill..... rclxub.gif then definitely i'm a clean profile......dun even have any loan need to pay like PTPTN. does citibank requires cc applicant to hav at least work for 1 yr also?? i only worked for 9 mths ady.......some of my friends asked me to try again after 1 yr.......lol. sometimes really dun understand credit card company..........

If u wish to reapply citibank credit card..u may try after 3- 6 month after ur rejection ....If not, they not even goin to process for u ( My cousin whom work in citibank told me)

Lastly, I still agree that maybe ur HR person miss a call from citibank..Anyway, U should try to apply other bank as other forumer said...don give up smile.gif
*
Apply after another 3-6 mths.....then i can totally 4get about citibank already as i'm going oversea in may ady.

Ya now trying out HSBC and UOB. now planning to give one of the HR staff direct line.....if still rejected i going to scold the staff directly (at least i know who is it)..... thumbup.gif

just now got HSBC telemarketer called to promote a hospitalisation plan.

i made a mistake by saying im free to talks, he so "pro". and keep telling me the good of the plan. doh.gif

the plan which give will u "pocket" money which you are hospitalised.
and you will get refund every 3 years for 30% of your premium. the cheque will be send to your mailing address.

i wanna to reject, but he keeps talks and talks....
finally, he just wish me good luck.
*
to handle such ppl....1st thing is to say no ....next thing is i already have insurance......end of story. so weird cc offering all these insurance, if it's FOC of course no prob la, but it's not. isn't it better to get another application solely for insurance only?

*
Yalo...i oso wanna know. Coz i now applying both HSBC and UOB coz i'm need of using the cc........but likely would end up using only fr one bank only, easier to keep track.

if i din cancel it, will the bank call me or wat? those annual fees waiver i still need to pay?? especially those req to swipe min X times to waive

cc got any free look period.....like cancellation without any charges imposed??

They will call your working to confirm that u are working there (they might call your boss to verify too).
From what i heard, HSBC wont call u to let u know that ur cc has been approved, but they will call if ur cc application is rejected. u can use the online tracker application at their website to check the status of ur application.
*
the online tracker thingy is useless, i already know they processing my application since last 2 wks, coz they did call me to fax some other doc, but somehow the tracker thing til now is not working at all. it's better to juz directly call them and ask.

Ya definitely need luck.......my dat colleague manage to get her card already (both of us with same income as we'r still new in company). juz now called up HSBC.....gosh sweat.gif still working on labour day.....they say that my application was decline........i did ask them y........izzit the verification blablabla......but somehow he said actually no problem with my application (i guess he repeats dat for all case), and will file an appeal for my case.

Anyway, i already lazy to bother about this, after being rejected by citi and this HSBC...........just like wat u say depends on luck. just hope my DA and Ambank application will not end up like dat.

Do you have bad payment history ? Bad loan may be ? May be you should try local bank.
Maybe this person should go to Bank Negara and check whether she's being blacklisted (FIS/CTOS list) in some way unknowingly. At least she can act upon it if she knows the truth.
*
i never apply cc before, prev was using supplementary fr my parents, likely payment was good as i already been using it 3 yrs ady, currently even receive new card fr AMEX but is still sup fr my parents la. car loan or house loan or even PTPN loan......i dun even need it.

currently i just only wanted to have my very own card.......another thing is i'll be going oversea later and overthere they mostly use VISA. guess that they dun wan this potential customer......

Seriously if i really were blacklisted....... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif ...........speechless.

Perhaps, did u ever lost ur IC or Driving Licence ? Have u ever be a guarantor ? blink.gif It is weird when a fresh degree holder with stable job ( plus clean credit record ) would be rejected.  rclxub.gif
*
QUOTE(hye @ May 1 2008, 02:45 PM)
Yes, I agree. It's rather weird but not to jump to conclusions, just make that check at Bank Negara.

I know a friend who had a similar problem - clean record, no debt and suddenly when want to make loan/credit card application was rejected by every bank. Finally, one bank mentioned that the name was blacklisted in FIS/CTOS due to someone failed to make payment many years back and the bank proceeded to blacklist the borrower and guarantors. This friend was the guarantor and unknowingly got blacklisted for something he/she did not do. (I think it's unfair to the guarantor)  hmm.gif

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ May 1 2008, 03:00 PM)
nvm just saw your reply. HSBC is pretty strict on cc application. maybe you have an ongoing application for homeloan or car loan (or something which parents put under ur name?).

otherwise just go for the local bank's credit cards, if ur starting salary is high enough, u can even get gold card straight.
*
nah....never lost anything before. guarantor oso never. guess that citi and hsbc was too strict gua. but today i called to check on my DA card and it's approved already. will be sending to me by next wk, at least i dun hav 2 go to the bank negara trip juz to check whether i'm blacklisted. sweat.gif sweat.gif

walaoeh....u apply so many cards at one short ar??? sweat.gif
*
i'm going oversea next fri ady.....i need a visa card......dat's y i'm desperately needing the card urgently. Didn't know citi and hsbc took so much trouble doh.gif

QUOTE(hye @ May 1 2008, 11:46 PM)
I just remembered something ... if you apply HSBC card, make sure you do not have 2 pending approval application from other banks. HSBC can see this information when they do their checking on an individual. If such a scenario occurs, HSBC's policy is to reject your application irrespective you are a potential "to be" approved customer. (Means you have no problems and under normal circumstances, your application stands to be approved)
*
Ic.....guess that could be one of their reason for decline my application. but anyway, they could be the one losing out as i plan to do a lot of shopping with my new cc card. rclxm9.gif
