They will have 3 type of model, E, G and S.
E and G are same as our current spec.

I have a feeling the new vios will be yet another ripped off agenda from UMWT. There is no J basic spec as mentioned by rumors, and now even they positioned a so called Sports model and selling at ridiculous pricing. I may bet the so called sports with brother's style bodykit will sell at 90k++, where u easily get another so called sports hatchback from Nissan for such range. doh.gif

Hope the new Vios will be have more option and better pricing than the current one. If they make a basic manual one and sell it below 70K then it might sell well. There is no much car model 60K+ price range.

hey mind you 15-20k is alot of money for some people. Anyway,85 grand for that 1.5 is simply not worth it. I really would rather get a Suzuki swift CKD with that kinda amount of money and with balance to spare!

If 15 to 20k is alot of money for some people, heck they won't even get the small overrated Suzuki Swift when they can get a bigger Persona with lesser money.

what cheapo stuff u mean? And Civic is another level up from VIOS so i don't think u can compare it directly unless you're comparing it with altis then i would agree with you to settle in a civic or a lancer gt2.0 but that still doesn't mean there's cheapo stuff in altis icon_rolleyes.gif

what does that gotta do with not rich enough people?

Each and everyone has their own capability.. i'm not rich but my dream is a Altezza but i settle down for a vios cause that's the car within my budget and capability to own it.

And you mentioned that not rich enough people but insist on branded thing~ if already have to struggle due to "face" and buy a vios.. would they have that kind of money to throw in another 15-20K for altis? sweat.gif

Your statement will leads to a lot of flaming~

Vios already reached my high spec(money Max)....
somehow if you compare like this....why don't you compare these sequence?
Vios ---> Artis ---> Camry ---> Wish ---> Estima ---> .....---> Volvo ---> BMW ---> Merc........

what does that gotta do with not rich enough people?
Each and everyone has their own capability.. i'm not rich but my dream is a Altezza but i settle down for a vios cause that's the car within my budget and capability to own it.
And you mentioned that not rich enough people but insist on branded thing~ if already have to struggle due to "face" and buy a vios.. would they have that kind of money to throw in another 15-20K for altis?  sweat.gif
Your statement will leads to a lot of flaming~

If you like something, just get it. Why ask for people's opinion? Though it might help you to think twice b4 making ur purchase, I don't think that's what you call luxury.

depend on how much you want to loan.... more higher you loan and more long time you pay (7-9year), then the interest will low....
mostly will less than 2.7%.
But not good suggestion that you loan >60k and pay back in 7-9years.
Calculate....that say you loan 60k and pay back in 7 years with interest 2.5%.
Total you need to pay = (60,000 x 2.5% x 7) + 60,000 = 70,500
Monthly installment = 70500/84 = 839.29
Your car value = 70,500 + 20,000 = RM90,500

overrated 1.5 car..this car is meant for asian budget car market, as such, u can find cheapo stuffs inside this car...might well settle for civic

Yeah cheapo stuffs doesn't mean unreliable but super el-cheapo stuffs with jacked up super profit generated margin by our local vendors, hmm I rather avoid the latter, brings back the broken power windows memories laugh.gif

Agree. . .  it is something targeted for those not rich enough people but insist on branded thing one. . . pathetic. . .  for RM85K++, why don't take out another RM15K-20K to get a Altis 1.6. . .
*
People have priorities, some of us have commitments in property investment, hard saving, unit trusts and etc.

Money makes more money. Once the capital built up, I rather buy a house in Melbourne rather than flashing mediocre class car like civic/altis/lancer. When the time comes a beemer or merc is more rewarding replacing my Nipponese tin can.

Ermm, Get it kiddo ?

QUOTE(Intrigue @ Sep 11 2007, 08:05 AM)
no manual? Oh crap~ but i think the performance for this new vios will slightly suffer due to heavy weight as compare with previous model

what cheapo stuff u mean? And Civic is another level up from VIOS so i don't think u can compare it directly unless you're comparing it with altis then i would agree with you to settle in a civic or a lancer gt2.0 but that still doesn't mean there's cheapo stuff in altis  icon_rolleyes.gif

E and G have beige interior while S will have gray.

Only four color to choose from: Silver, gray, black, gold/brown.

All have 60/40 foldable rear seats if I'm not wrong, otherwise (if follow Singapore) it is only available in >= G.

S comes with spoiler and (I think) bodykit.

my limited understanding...
optitron refers to the back ilumination of the meter... not accosiating with either analogue or digital...

Sources from motortrader says it will be released on 19 of Sept. Seing they released the price earlier than the pics of the cars, i believe it should be released this month.

Price difference isnt much far away from the current vios though.

The previous vios E has only one single air bag and no ABS/EBD. This time toyota is generous to provide ABS/EBD to all new vios models.

Juz search for Vios and found that the new version E specs will hv the ABS (front) and dual airbags compare to existing E specs with 1 airbag...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Vios#S...2007-Present.29

So will this affect the market value of existing model E & G specs?

What do you think of a market of G spec 2004 (rough guide)?

Maybe my sentence will offence some Vios owner, sorry if making any misleading. . . not rich enough people does not mean they are poor, at least they are more richer then those proton car owner. . . an overrated car does not mean it is a bad car also, just like if Civic 2.0 is selling for RM150K or Accord 2.4 is selling for RM200K, do you think it is still a [good car] to purchase for??

Actually what I want to tell is Toyota know their advantages in the market, good reputation, even they mark up the price for some of their car modal (Vios, at least from my point of view), they know people still will buy it one, and this is also becoz the 1.5L cc car market section is not competative as the 1.6/1.8/2.0 one since Nissan/Mazda/Mitsubishi does not have any modal in this range for the past few years.

1.88% only offer for 7-9years with certain ammount.
If less than certain ammount or less than 7 years, they won't offer with such interest because bank can't earn much from such interest. hmm.gif
Like Honda, last time they offer first year free interest and start pay on 2nd years.....

Four color: silver, gold, black, and grayish blue (like the new color in Honda City).

The news I got from SA is most likely 1st batch from Thai, and a lot of pple choose black, 2nd is silver. And mostly take G and S.

I'm making decision over this weekend and let my friend know my decision on next Monday. Most likely I will take G as the difference between G and E is quite big, now just left what color I'm going for. Can anyone confirm how do the gold color looks like ?? Is it the same as the light olive as shown in Toyota Singapore website ?? (http://www.toyota.com.sg) Pretty boring if everyone picking the same color eh ??

why want to pay less for old vios model when the new facelift is out? You will regret it later man. Its like buying an old car with a new price tag.

Since the new vios is launching soon, no point they still sell the old stock to you....they only launching new vios when the old stock are clear.

No discounts given but at least press the sales person for some free gifts. They're afford to give you that.

well, i understand it this way:

say u bought a car in Jan2008, by Jan2009 ur car is of age=1year...
if u bought the same car in Dec2008, by Jan2009, ur car is also age=1year...

it means the earlier u buy a car in a specific year, u enjoy the car longer while it depreciates over time...

thats why sometimes we got attractive promotions at the end of the year as the dealer trying to clear away all their stocks before their car is older by one year... smile.gif

hope i get the explaination correct...

it doesn't matter if you plan to drive the car for long term ...

else if you are those that like to change car every 2-3 years then it really matter ...

if you got a car now, then better wait till january 2008, that time also can know how good this car is from some owner ...

Wait more and you miss the chance for getting a 'CKD' car from Thailand. tongue.gif Plus once the rumor of it as being 'good', by the time you going to book it, you might need to wait for months since everybody is booking - recall the MyVi incidents.

My reason to buy the car is that I just need the car.

Btw, if you can wait, why not just wait. Honda might come out something new too.

Just got info from brochures.
Legroom: Latio > Vios > City
Headroom: Latio >> Vios > City
Bootspace 475L < City 500L.
Cabin entrance space: Vios > City

So for the new vios before complaining is not spacious, complain City first. tongue.gif

Well. It is just weird that people in Lowyat forum condemn its look, whereas people in Thai, Sg, even in Bali they praise the look. Taste is just different here. tongue.gif

I don't mind the space issue. What's the use of extra space when seating position is unergonomic and awkward. Many people bias towards space doh.gif

The engine should be the same. No additional horsepower. I think there are some finetunings to the gear ratio. That's why the response might be different. hmm.gif

Not gear ratio - it is the transmission control unit (software) that is changed.

Psychology problem? It is only 1cm lesser from Latio in terms of legroom and many more cm larger from City. Headroom is at least 1cm more than City but few cm lesser than Latio. wink.gif If City is spacious and comfortable, this new Vios has surpassed it.

The new Vios is now in Toyota showroom. I've sat in all S/G/E. They are so spacious. Boot space is smartly designed as less space is wasted.

Seen the new Vios. The S model looks fabulous with bodykit. Love the steering and the centre console and the centre armrest.

However, the material feels cheap compared to older version, and oh the rear cabin still feels cramped like the older version except for the legroom thanks to the new floor design.

Steering should feels lighter now and a slightly more powerful performance thanks to the implementation of an EPS. That's all i can say for now. Will test drive in a couple of days.

Yup. Agreed on the headroom at the back a bit low due to aerodynamic.

Lighter steering is nice and gives a bit more power to the car. rclxms.gif Test drive with 5 ppl in the car and it still accelerates well. thumbup.gif

Material quality. And i have sources that this is due to UMW's cut cost purposes. Damn UMW. And look at the front seats, the material inside the fabric is so thin that u can touch the "bones/skeleton" of the seats. doh.gif

Exactly... Try feeling the plastic and fabric trim of the door panel, it feels like the one in Myvi. Previous generation has that grade A plastic feel but the new Vios just don't have it sad.gif

But I do like the centre armrest and the gate shifter.

my colleague was trying to get one back then, discount was very good, either 40" LCD TV+cash discount or even higher cash discount if don't want the TV.

EPS using ECU control motor to make the steering lighter..

they could've been a little more generous on the rear headroom.. it's really uncomfortable for an average person around 175cm to take the back seat.. my head would nearly touch the roof, and if the car were to go past humps, i'm sure my head will knock the roof.. imagine a 180cm person to take the back seat, his head would probably sticking on the roof all the time..

yes, I agreed that. the back seat people would hit the roof if people average more than 175cm....expecially you sit on the center.....I almost hit the roof when I sit center there..... blink.gif

the back sit is a bit high i can say.

the moment i sat on the back , my first word come out is

wa.. so high wan... i'm 180 cm tall .. yea.. head nearly touch the roof..

probably i driving a wira before this , mayb thats why i say the back sit is high.

since there is a G spec in my house.after few driving, i found out the interior dosn't seems so attractive to me.

vvt-i engine more respond and pick up for me although is an auto car..

manual car will be out onli next year.

the power steering is excellent but the steering wheels is a bit 'fat' to hold.

for the audio , i dun think can do any modding since is connected to the dashboard as one wif the display screen together.

this car got one press flip in side mirror . you can press for either u wan right or left or both to flip in . then u can also adjust the side mirror wif the panel that is located same place wif the button that control the flip mirror.

the alarm very noisy as it come wif the horn together if there is any emergency for example car hijack. it can b a gud point.

come wif an immobalizer.

the engine bay very small but the boot is huge. the rear sit can be slide down to increase the capacity of the boot.

the rims 15" and toyota classified it as sport rims. not so sporty to me.

tatz all for now.

the exterior from certain angles' got that Honda City feel to it... and the interior look really horrendous... I guess Toyota was never really good at car interiors. With the bodykits, the front looks ok but the back's kinda bland, the side view looks good though.

many people say the car is overprice but in my opinion they have no choices but to overprice the car because of gov control

since we have proton here.. the most expensive car is also perdana and the second wan is waja which is around 60 k ++ ( i need someone to comfirm this ) and their newly launch persona which is around 50 k ++ ...

with government supporting proton and also they have so many old stock in their warehouse, with the additional of unstable financial control and politics and also sign agreement in proton company , of course the gov will ask those private company to increase the price of their newly launch car by few 10 k above their proton waja price...

imagine a vios for rm 70 k and waja for 65 k .. which wan will u choose ??

if me i will go for vios wif onli few thousand extra. not to mention monthly installment for 6 years is just add up a few bucks onli... gov noe our thinking ..

The look is still okay but the interior done by UMW. doh.gif Even my friend in Toyota also say the new Vios will be dead. It's a chance for Honda to regain the market.

Well lets see the annual sales. tongue.gif

Got mine Vios G. Interior is superb. WQQ ####. Stuff and panel are all align properly. 5-series uses plastic too. Cushion is no where near thin complain by one of forumer here saying he's able to touch the frame?! I tried hard to press but unable due to the cushion is harder and more solid now. Elevating the front seat is just by pulling or pushing the jack, rather than turning dial like in City. FC still unknow as this is my 1st refill.

p/s: Comes with Bridgestone tires.

The labour charge is about/at least triple of outside. Not that their technician is topnotch from Japan, they just need to feed those admin pple, furnishing the SC operating cost. When end of warranty, just service outside.

New City most probably comes next year Oct. You buy City now then later new City out, your resale value down more. Interior & exterior are mostly subjective. So if you feel Vios is nicer in mostly everything then choose Vios. If you book later, you might need to wait longer.

IMO, I choose Vios because
1. more cabin space than City, even though Vios boot space is just 25L less than City from the spec but I can't notice the difference City being larger.
2. Foldable rear seat. Yes, City VTEC 2nd FL had foldable rear seat while 1st FL not.
3. CVT having too much of a problem - even airplane sound for me is a problem; And I don't believe using a metal-reinforced rubber for power transfer is invincible and need no replacement - even timing belt or timing chain need to replace;
4. Our family have been using Toyota since KE3x, and I'm confident on its reliability.

I almost chooses Honda City before this as it almost has everything better than the old Vios...

i not sure whether there are any Vios owner here.. i got a question here as i tried to search for toyota thread but its seem dunno buried where already. I wan to ask that ll the O/D function went on automatically after the engine is off and start back? i try to put it in a simple word. I press Vios overdrive button then the light on stating "o/d off" so ll that light goes off (along with the function of course) after i off my engine on my next start?

no, if u compare the old vios and city, then city salesman can say this, but not to current vios...

even the vios lowest spec E is equiped with ABS + EBD + driver airbag, means the city IDSI only have 1 more front passenger's side airbag ...

i don't think more 1 airbag can say city is safer then the new vios, not to forget the rear brake both are drum ...

in terms of body strength, both more or less the same ...

dun listen salesman for opinion, toyota nor honda, they will praise their car kaw kaw 1...

do your own research and preferences ...

Well, the front look of the new Vios is kinda weird. Even I look at my own one, sometimes it looks cute, sometimes it looks bengkak.

The rubber boot tray has grip... far far better than MyVi plastic tray.

One thing, the front pillar together with the tweeter turns out to be quite thick, might block the view of certain angle. But I'm not aware of City front pillar as I only test drove it for a short round.

I'm used to MyVi thick front pillar so small problem here. tongue.gif

No is still a problem to us eventhough is another type of car. I know about their cutting cost strategy but don't know it will effect the car that much.

Hopes nothing happen. BTW anyone knows about the TRD bodykit for the new Vios cost how much?

As many have views on the new vios, how it looks like, the interior and exterior....from this forum ive read almost 90% of all would not agree with so many things..one thing you all must know is that TOYOTA has been around for so long and is known for its comfortability, silent engine etc as surveys were conducted all around the world...i am a super fanatic toyota fan, and i own a altis coz any toyota car is just simply comfortable and cant argue with.

However if any of you would decide whether a City or Vios...its all to your own preferences, correct me if im wrong, that i think the city would dominate the vios due to certain exterior looks and also interior looks cant be accepted by many, yes i also agree and a senior member calling ppl noob wouldnt mind the rear looking weird as this is also his own preference that he thinks is nice(which i dunno whether is he weird)...its not that he is weird or anything...its just that different ppl have different views.. laugh.gif .in fact i cant accept the exterior and why would they do this to a vios which was a great selling car b4 the new one was launched

if u think ur style is the new vios...go ahead and book one...if its the city...go ahead and book one...dont regret after getting ur car...ENJOY!! icon_rolleyes.gif

u are right in some part but den.. not all toyota car is comfortable... if u campare with camry and altis... ofcoz they are comfort... camry is flagship for toyota and corolla is trademark mid segment sedan... both of them sure are comfort.. but not vios, avanza and innova... seriously... is becoz only proton.. if not.. vios doesn't suit that kind of price... i dunno how good is the new vios in term of NVH but not the old vios... cramp, noisy and there is vibration like proton... like rattling sound or what so ever.... dun think becoz of brand den u say its good

Not surprised to hear that. But the improved legroom will contribute a lil bit to reduce leg fatigue during a long journey.

A 2 hours ride at the rear cabin in my bro's old Vios makes both my back and my legs tired rclxub.gif

City owner end up complain aeroplane sound and fear of going to face CVT problem sooner or later.
Vios owner end up satisfied but complain by other people being uninteresting and let his/her passengers complain about its legroom.

Definitely far far better than Proton. It is so obvious when going pass humps.

no, if u compare the old vios and city, then city salesman can say this, but not to current vios...

even the vios lowest spec E is equiped with ABS + EBD + driver airbag, means the city IDSI only have 1 more front passenger's side airbag ...

i don't think more 1 airbag can say city is safer then the new vios, not to forget the rear brake both are drum ...

in terms of body strength, both more or less the same ...

dun listen salesman for opinion, toyota nor honda, they will praise their car kaw kaw 1...

do your own research and preferences ...

Actually looking forward to buy new vios 2007 since rumour about new vios coming out last time but after i see in front of my eyes, design is worst that old vios and engine is carry forward from old vios. I thought it's suppose to be dual vvti engine. It's spacious and fatter but I won't buy of course. Sometime really frustrated with toyota design for new altis 08 and vios 07 but thumbup.gif for camry. I am a toyota fan because of it's reliability engine but design, aiiii...... doh.gif sien.... have to admit honda design thumbup.gif

Only four colour to choose, and I don't want black (hard to maintain), silver (too common), gold (so uncle). I so hope they have the Dark Silver like in the Camry or the Phantom Gray in Vios06 but don't have.

Anyway this color looks good when real and under bright day light. tongue.gif

This is my 2nd refill - so my 1st FC calculation is around 11km/L. But the car performance is really getting better and I'm expecting 12km/L~13km/L on my 2nd FC calc under same 100% city condition (Melawati-KLCC super long jam back and forth) everyday.

after read a lot of u guy's comment... I just want to say..

I bought my Vios base I like the design.. and toyota well know reliability and also I don't want my car part start falling here n there.....

my car served me 2 years, not a single problem I have ever face.. oh yah.. maybe the remote control give me a little problem..

It is not comfort? I said it is comfort enough.... I find it is more comfort than even the City.. and luckily it doens't have those "ngek ngek ngek" sound like Proton after 2 years.. Vibration? what kind of Vibration ??? seat? leg?? I don't really feel any..

Noise? Plastic Noise in the interior of the car? I don't have a single plastic noise after 2 years of my car.. personally.. I hate those kind of noise inside a car.. fortune enough.. I dont face such a problem..

Engine noise.. maybe.. the front part insulation are not that good.. but engine noisy only happen when u rev the engine.. how much time u rev the engine over 4k rpm?

I pay a bit more for a car that serve me well.. and I think.. the Vios serve me well enough...

The new VIOS.. if you like the car.. I think it is a good choice.. just go ahead.. you are getting a car you like, don't have to care so much what people say about it...

Jam...same like me...jam in penang all the time(30minute)...FC can get 13km/l(the lower can get now)
if 70% city not jam but slow drive like 40-60km/h + 30% jam, FC will be 15~16km/l
if 90% highway, speed 80-130km/h, FC will be 17~18km/l only.
anyway, dun push your leg hard everytime you want to start driving.

did u do that while the gear was set to "D"? or u really step on the accelerator real hard?

It is on the "D" left side and not the "-3" right side. I stepped read hard.

no, my car won't feel any smell. you don't need to wait until 2nd service. just give them a call and asked them to check for you. of course you need to spend one day there-lah!!!!

i've spoken to the supervisor and he said if the smell still happens, i'll hav 2 leave my car as they will send to denso (air-con vendor) to claim its warantty.... sad.gif

Really headache wan last time i also purposely took leave to service my car but mine was not a Vios lar, got problem wanna check sure must come back another day cause they can't do both service and problem diagnostics at the same time i always wonder why, even same at auto bavaria.

The chemical smell you highlighted might be harmful to your health, same goes for people who loves the new car smell, its actually the combination smell of the new plastic, paint and interior parts of the car thats some people claimed they like the new car smell.

A few of my friends passed on booking the Vios after seeing the tail light, many told me that the previous model looked better.

And i wonder why Toyota claimed that this is the new vios, when its actually a sedan version of the yaris. Many car freaks knows this, even some of my friends working for Toyota told me this before the official launching of the New Vios.

yes, new car smell is very harmful to our health. Better open your car windor all the time when you drive your new car until the smell go off.
So, new car smell doesn't mean good for body!!!! brows.gif

Again it is personal taste...I like a new one...but if Front car body get hit....then need more money to replace new front body assembly.
Yes, is a copy from YARIS...like City also copy from JAZZ, Persona copy from GEN 2...why?
because wan to cost down. they can use same design even same parts....not need keep more stock and can use both type of car. biggrin.gif

the smell is oni a while when i switch on the air-con...in fact, during my 2nd svc, i've told d supervisor n they say they have done the best....if i'm not satisfied, they will send my car back to its vendor for claims.

about the new vios, technically speaking is only a face-lift model...n i think they are using inferior materials than the previous one.

there is noting fanstatics features in this model, well, the cheapest toyota car, what can you expect??

The concept is new IMHO. Kinda futuristic with the curves. The performance is much better and the handling is so light! Despite the fact that the weight has increased, but they actually increased the cc by 1(don't flame me) but from the engineering point of view it's a lot, just that they don't state cause they malas wanna explain( M'sians are always skeptical)

The way of close the vios bonet is lift the bonet 1 feet or higher and let it fall down it self... not close it then use hand to push.. that way doesn't work....

New Vios got auto sound leveling.. which other car of this class don't have.

QUOTE

Hmm... wider a bit (just few cm I forgot the figure), 10cm more legroom, headroom higher a bit (again few cm), boot more litre.

In the end the new Vios cabin is larger than Honda City, but the boot is still 25L short of City's... (Latio headroom is crazy large)

Cabin size compare: Vios < City < New Vios < Latio
Boot: Vios < New Vios < Latio < City

But one thing, I notices the black trim in between the two front & back doors mirror, is actually stickers and not paint! You guys can go and check on the demo car.

Hmm... wider a bit (just few cm I forgot the figure), 10cm more legroom, headroom higher a bit (again few cm), boot more litre.

You guys can go and check on the demo car.

now only u know it is sticker ah?? what is so big deal?? go and observe the all the Honda City and see.. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

i managed to close my hood of my previous car, proton 1.3 iswara aeroback.... but not Vios

yes, it's true...you need 2 lift n use d weight of d hood to lock...

i'm really amazed by d engine revving n pick up with i pressed d OD off! 1.5 is like 1.6!

QUOTE(BuFung @ Nov 4 2007, 10:24 PM)
I think the sales lady( u said she ) donno how to close the bonet..

The way of close the vios bonet is lift the bonet 1 feet or higher and let it fall down it self...  not close it then use hand to push..  that way doesn't work....

Car like Vios/City are light and with almost same Horsepower output like other 1.6 car... so U will feel it is even better pick up than a more heavier 1.6 car... compare the power output for Potong 1.6 car, Altis, Sentral etc.. to Vios/City..

as I saw from magazine saying that the new Vios length increased +120mm making it 1965mm long being used to extend legroom for the rear occupants

The legroom is comfortable but the seat (the cushion) feel so small. Its enough to fit the passengers butt tongue.gif
but for the long journey i think it will become pain in the ass. Will go again today to Toyata & Honda showroom wanna have a look again.

Driver seat or rear passenger seat? Unless your ass is of 60inch, then I have nothing to say.

Just get City if you like CVT and the seat is designed for your ass, no need to test drive. It's a good car nonetheless.

Honestly get Civic if you want a bigger than Vios car, as City is just smaller on legroom, headroom and width (but not in large margin anyway). Really, no point spending a lot for a car when it doesn't fit your ass in the long run.

500km for how many litres? I'm getting 360km for 26L for fuel in 90% city driving (KL jam area/golden triangle). If you say full tank (40L+) or 50% city, I might surpass 500km tongue.gif.

Anyone know why the new Vios is bouncy when traveling at 135- 140kmph in highway ?

Any method available to reduce the bounciness ? (Hope no stupid answer like reducing speed)

What kind of bouncy do you mean? Soft like fruit cake and bounce like jelly even on flat road? Or too hard until you can feel road pimples?

The new Vios suspension/damper is definitely more solid then old Vios, and less fruity then MyVi.

They give you rosak damper already is it? So you bounce all the way on the flat road? Go back to your SA and complain.

Or customize/mod your damper/spring.

Vios has much better stock sound system, 'built-in' antena, better cushion vs even Civic ( nod.gif, reported from a guy own both Civic 1.8 and Vios, what can I say).

Sadly, only your own experience matters. You should have already did some comparison before booking right?

New Vios interior is larger than City,
rear floor is flat,
sharper turning radius,
more viewable front area (hence cannot see the car bonnet, might be bad for certain people),
flipping wing mirror,
newer alarm system,
driver seat height uses jack-like mechanism instead of turning dial.

But...
no more remote trunk open vs old Vios. sad.gif

And it looks like 5-series behind (or Waja):

If U r not in a hurry, and plan to change ur car every 5 year.

I suggest U take ur car only on Jan 2008. Bcoz Dec 2007 car, sell on Jan 2008 , is already consider a 1 year old car ~!

The new Vios got a few bits and pieces of surprises that I found out which is nice such as ASL enable audio system, where the speed of ur car is link to ur Audio system. When U speed to a very fast pace, the audio system will adjust the volume automatically higher to cover the wind resistance noise.

After that when U slow down, the volume will readjust itself to a lower volume.

This system is available in other car ?

The SA is not entirely wrong either. Manufacture date is important as well - nobody are going to pay you 2008 price if they see your car is 2005 manufactured, eventhough you reg on 2008.

Plus you have to take into account of interest rate and promotion. Nobody knows what the interest rate will be next year, when our Gov screwing up the economy.

My advice would always be, if you need it now why wait? If you can wait why hurry?

Bro, U didn't travel much lar. The car is taken in early November only I think.

I am running to and fro from KL to Johor then back.

The mileage is around 11XXkm already when sending in for servicing.

But somehow, still feel very few new Vios on the road ~!

I prefer this color compare to Gold. Just loving it more and more everyday. laugh.gif

I love the accleration comparing it to Unser and Avanza. Never drive other brand car except for Kancil bcoz need to get the "license to speed". rclxm9.gif

Bro, U test ur top speed before ?

I haven't really test mine.

I ran it until 140kmph only bcoz got other family member in car when going back Johor.

The wind resistance noise seem very loud at 140kmph.

I rode in a Honda Civic the previous generation before the current one.

140- 160 still silent like nothing at all ~!

Other than that, I found that the Vios is bouncing on some part of the highway when traveling at 140 kmph.
Should I complain to the service centre or just the stupid PLUS highway condition ???

It is not loud but noticeable. For example, Avanza is noise level is noticeable above 110kmph.

It is not bouncy all the way but some stretches of road in highway.

I was hoping some other car user or expert may comment on this issue ?

Not yet got chance to go highway yet, will post here when I try at that speed (or more speed tongue.gif). I'm waiting 2nd service (request full synthetic) then floor pedal kau kau. Silent like nothing at all?! Maybe you get used to the noise already in long stretches of road. Even Benz/Camry are noisy at high speed.

i thought there was ASL right?

ASL is just having louder volume when going faster. Nothing to do with canceling/damping noises.

- exterior, Vios looks much better than Latio.
- 1.6L vs 1.5L - quite obvious who's the winner in FC

Comfort, I think Latio should be better but I don't give that much weigh to comfort, as long as not like LMST or Viva.

My 1st service (I insisted on the ATF change):

Gasket 1.70
ATF Fluid WS (4L) 129.80
Oil Filter 29.15
Toyota Motor Oil (4L) Mineral 59.90

Total: 220.55 (90.75 if stick with original plan - no ATF change).

It is that cheap because labour is free currently. Otherwise, labour is many times more expensive than outside.

I request for using semi synth... but they forget and use Mineral. mad.gif

- exterior, Vios looks much better than Latio.
- 1.6L vs 1.5L - quite obvious who's the winner in FC

Comfort, I think Latio should be better but I don't give that much weigh to comfort,  as long as not like LMST or Viva.

Looks is kinda subjective, don't you think? biggrin.gif

While the Latio Sedan may look odd at first sight, i'm beginning to fall for it as time goes by, so may the new Vios. I may give a 2 thumbs up for the previous gen Vios, except for its cabin space.

What i love the most about this new Vios is the gate shifter, the centre armrest design, the flat floor and the implementation of an electrical power steering. However, it's disheartening to learn that the material quality felt like a downgrade from the previous version, yet priced expensively with minimal accessories installed. Hopefully these issues could be solved in the future facelift model.

Oh, does anyone here knew that the Vios in Brunei has a rear skirt installed for the S spec?

previously SC only provide either mineral or fully syn oil...just currently toyota comes out a semi syn.....since fully syn is much very expensive compare to mineral....this semi syn is suits for those users for middle budget....
betwn depends ur driving style...if u are racer alwis rev ur car or alwis high high speed, then suggest to use fully syn...if just normal drive..then can use semi syn.....

Maybe he is refering to the dashboard which is strangely move to the centre.

Actually, for this new Vios, can barely feel anything when going at 130kmph, only reaching 140 then it is more noticeable for me.

My family member very sensitive one, Avanza going at 120kmph already started grumbling saying the car is shaking and all sorts of things. As for new Vios, the family member sleeping soundly at 130kmph.
