The laptop model I'm planning to get is not yet available in any of the physical stores, and there's a discount from the Lenovo website. I'm wondering if anyone has experience buying it directly from the Lenovo Malaysia website?

Did it take long? Any issues?

Found some bad reviews but almost a year ago. Wonder if they have improved

It just takes time especially if you have customized your laptop. Apart from that , you'll get the bag/mouse first followed by your laptop

if you buy 1 unit and without any modification, just the basic unit, you can get it fast too, if you stay near KL.

have you tried lenovo flagship store in lazada ? they are fast too

Bought a prebuilt Ideapad S540 (no customization)...say 'ships in 5 business days', 5 business days had passed still not shipped yet

I bought a X1 Carbon before. Took about 2 weeks.
After sent and reach Malaysia, Lenovo forgot to give import license, so it got stuck at customs..
The laptop takes about 1-2 weeks to build , shipping process is fast, but you just had to take note of import license issue.

Would suggest you wait it out. if its not available yet in physical stores means that if you have any problems after purchasing it online, you're probably shit out of luck to get a replacement quickly.

Ordered my customised Thinkpad on 31 March. Arrived in KLIA on 3rd April. Delivered to house on 7th April. Hope this helps. Pax.

I am still not sure. After I had paid for it, lenovo said the order shall be released within 1 to 2 business days, then the order status will be visualised in another 2 to 3 business days after the order released.

To my surprise, the order status can already be visualised. It does show the estimated delivery date which is 20 days after the day I ordered.

They always estimate conservatively

Lenovo also provided me wrong tracking number...unable to track at all.

Called them and found out the laptop arrived in Malaysia...waiting for custom department to do clearance...not sure need to wait for how long?

Should be UPS tracking number since they always use UPS...but instead they provide only Tiongnam logistics tracking number while the tracking page is broken...need to message/call them...

if you want faster clearance, better message/call them everyday

Yup, it was given the Tiong Nam logistics tracking number. I called them today and they asked me to wait for custom clearance...I will call them again tomorrow.

1. How long did it take from when you purchased, until it was delivered? I'm still on the fence to get it online with how they handle deliveries.

2. I don't know much about processors, but do you think getting Ryzen 7 would improve it's performance, battery, etc compared to Ryzen 5?

1. Ordered 16th May, 4th June reach - quite late tbh. You might get faster delivery depending on your luck

2. Same - the difference between 2000 series and 3000 series is more noticeable

Just to share my experience.
I place my customize Y540 order on 26 Jun 2019, the package was sent out on 30 Jun 2019 and received it by 06 Jul 2019.
Consider quite decent delivery time. Of course experience similar missing import licenses issue. but got it resolve asap

Ordered Y540 too on 3 July, now struggling to "see" the delivery guy from UPS.

I think DHL is better in terms of delivery management.

Oic, i just bought it last week, and just got notified of the shipment but the tracking number not valid... not sure did they gave me the correct one as the carrier is Kerry EAS Logistics Limited

For UPS or DHL I think both almost the same. Much way better than Poslaju at least. Lol. Can't even imagine what if Poslaju handle it

No worries for UPS. You can still track your laptop until the custom clearance. Once your laptop has been cleared from custom, then you can't track it anymore as a local agent will handle your laptop. I was told that a private car delivered my laptop to our house instead of UPS mini truck or mini van.

It's true, just a van without UPS logo, but the delivery guy is wearing UPS shirt.

Haha. Once the laptop has been delivered, they will send you an email with tracking number one. Just wait until you got a second email which is probably your laptop being sent out, then you can start to track with the tracking number.

I think so. Because when I tracked that time was on Saturday night and they started to ship out. Sun morning my laptop arrived at another destination. Stuck there for a day and sun midnight which means monday they continue the shipping. Which means sun is off for delivery.

My laptop has actually arrived for two weeks. 28 June arrived. But I haven’t got the chance to try it yet. Not in Malaysia right now. Will be back next month.

Sometimes expected ship out is not accurate. They will change the date. As long as your laptop has been shipped out, you will receive an email with tracking number

Not a user but expect ~4 hrs with Optimus - if stretch hard maybe 5 hrs (source: reviews, users)

For student ID you need to show a proof that you're a student...but I think it's possible to borrow others ID for discount code/to access edu website

How do u guys resolve the import licence issue? Do u need to personally go to custom and pay clearance fee?

Send an email to mycs@lenovo.com and tell them when you track your laptop, there stated import license is missing. Then you provide them your ordered number. They will settle for you. No clearance fee need to be paid.

Within 3 days from bank verification, if using the card, they will ask you to get bank authorisation code to active your payment.

Regarding about your order, may depending on your model and specs.
If you have customized your specs maybe taken within 2 to 3 weeks time.

Lenovo charged me twice in 1 order number.
I did an order on Aug 7 for model y540 (around RM5k) and the payment is charged as pre-authorization hold on 8 Aug. This is normal as well as process.

However, yesterday around 00:57, received bank sms notifying me another charge is paid to Lenovo again. Then I checked with bank and is confirmed another payment done on same order. MONEY is deducted as well when i check online. So Lenovo require us to prepare RM10k on a RM5k product? Answer is exactly a nono, why i say so, because my friend did the same order previously and his one not being charged twice.

Asking, why Lenovo can charge my money without my authorization, i meaning the transaction shall be full stopped on 8 Aug. Yet they can do any authorize charge fee without your acknowledgement.

Called service desk and they ask to email payment team only. Yet no reply so far. Im so dissappointed and depressed.

Ordered when it was on timesale last week for $28++ (2 weeks delivery and they sent a confirmed order email then after purchase, with 2 weeks timeline delivery schedule; a week after that, they sent me the cancelation email which was yesterday, the bag and mouse r already on their way to me, so they perhaps overbooked the orders)

Isn't there a function on MBB website called Ezy Pay Plus under "Apply" tab on the top menu > Cards where it will convert eligible CC purchases to installment plans with interest based on the tenure of the plan?

Oh yeah forgot about that. I guess it's the same as calling them up and request for conversion then.
