I think so, I went back to the shop at LYP who sold me the cable for such service. But they say didn't provide such service due to not free to do so~

Just wanna know roughly how much is the charges for such service? And is there any specific grade of connector to be used for CAT5E, CAT6 & CAT7? Or connector is standard among all type of LAN cables?
*
RJ45 connector itself is standard for all CAT5, 5e and 6. Nothing specific.

-.- The shop would rather ask you to buy new one. It brings more profit for the shop.

I don't know, buy a crimping tool (about RM25 for cheap one?) and rj45 connector (80 cent?) ?

Or go find other pc shop that offer crimping service? (If you can find one in first place.....)

Finally got Turboed!

Registered Unifi Bonanza 30Mbps on 02 Jul 2018 for RM139. Was shown not eligible for Turbo Upgrade at TM's webpage before they toke it down. Locations is Jalan Perak (KLCC) high-rise with FTTH. Equipped with Nokia ONU, TPLink AC1200.

Received an email on 18 Oct 2018 for getting Turbo ready. Received SMS on 28 Oct 2018, email on 1 Nov 2018. Didn't have to restart modem, but i shut down router when not at home. No change of equipments from TM. So far didn't complain nor enquire when is the Turbo, just waited patiently sweat.gif

Speed test (www.speedtest.net) using MacBook Pro 2015 connected via Wifi is
PING 6 ms
DOWNLOAD 301.70 Mbps
UPLOAD 51.17 Mbps

Hi I would like to update on my latest speed test

TM Package: TM Best 100 Mbps
Router: DIR-842 C2
LAN Link Speed: 1 Gbps with Cat-5e Cable
Wireless Link Speed: 433 Mbps (5Ghz) / 150 Mbps (2.4Ghz)

5Ghz Speed Test:
Download Avg: 106 - 110 Mbps
Upload Avg: 53 - 56 Mbps

2.4Ghz:
Download Avg: 101 - 106 Mbps
Upload Avg: 51 - 53 Mbps

LAN Speed Test:
Same as above.

TBH, I'm pretty happy as I'm able to squeeze the maximum speed through 2.4 Ghz band. Pretty Good free Router support 100 Mbps on both band.

Be sure to buy solid core 8P8C connector and not those cheap stranded 8P8C that designed to be used with stranded wire, it also recommended that you purchase 8P8C connector that deisgned to pass CAT6 fluke test, also is you have extra budget you can buy a plug boots for cable strain relief and reduce chance/preventing those stupid pin from breaking

DSLreport speedtest history over the 1 month of using 800Mbps.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think they use different servers in different regions to average the speed?

Does the 60GB quota include the IPTV, because that really eats bandwidth?

No. HyppTV non-stop consumes 3 Terabytes a month.

Hi all,

Just want to ask for opinions. Currently my in law house using AstroIptv that bundle with Internet 10Mbps. I think it is ridiculously expensive and slow! Then now, my in law wanted to terminate his AstroIptv plan bundle with the Internet and subscribe to Unifi.

My question are..

1) Is it good enough to subscribe to 30Mbps Unifi RM79 now with 60gb quota? or any plans you guys would recommend?  I heard the quota isnt implemented untill next year?

2) I have my Unifi account still under contract for my own house of turbo 500Mbps and would it be any benefits if I subscribe under my name instead of my inlaws?

Thanks!

My in law's house is landed with FTTH infa btw
*
Cut that bundle and terminate it ASAP. I would suggest the RM129 100Mbps plan, rather than the RM79 30Mbps plan, as that 60GB quota will enforced next year, as you know, so it is not worth it. Be sure to ask them to renew all your equipment if possible.

Nope, no benefits if you subscribe under your name. Theirs will be a new subscription, so won’t be eligible for turbo speed upgrade.

*
Nope, it won’t include the IPTV or unifiTV, as they won’t give you the STB. But, if they do provide the STB, it won’t eat your bandwidth because it is not even using your bandwidth in the first place, as it is streamed to you via VLAN tagging, which does it costed your bandwidth in any way.

Yes, see 1st page, 1st post, green text for list of compatible routers for your speed. You need a much better and more expensive router to get close to 800Mbps speed.

You must be on Streamyx. Unifi which utilizes VLAN tagging does not use the unifiTV bandwidth in any way, as the unifiTV VLAN is tagged differently, which makes it on a separate path compared to the Internet.

unifiPlayTV is complementary, if you have unifiTV. Don’t worry about it.

Wahh... you're the third one i think on LYN who just subscribed in July this year and straight get turboed to 300 before the end of the year. A part of me wishes I hadn't been too hasty in downgrading to 100/RM129 now lol.

I know of many others in certain areas (e.g. Valencia) who have been on Unifi for many years on 100 Mbps but still havent even been turboed yet. Excuse given was infrastructure limitations, but landed FTTH shouldn't have that issue right?

Only 1 benefit that I can think of
They pay the monthly bill, you get their TM reward points that can be used to reduce your bill once in a while, lol

See 1st page, 1st post, green text, for troubleshooting issues. Could be your router, your NIC, or your BTU.
