Where did you order your C3150? I thought it is out of stock at the moment. Is it v2?
Bro, your upload speed is indeed correct. It is 800Mbps download, 200Mbps upload for the turboed 800Mbps. It is not symmetrical.
*
Yesterday went to LYP, saw quite a number of stock there. Ranging from RM6xx till RM7xx...

QUOTE(Haruji Sora @ Nov 2 2018, 01:02 PM)
LOL then it should be router issue already.

My Old TP Link Archer C7 V2 cannot go beyond 400mbps download as well. Need to upgrade to Asus RT86U and finally can hit 800+ mbps download.
*
The speed achieved by RT-AC86U (800+ mbps), is via wifi or LAN?

LAN. Wifi I believe on 5ghz it jumps between 400mbps to 500mbps depending on device, distance to router and etc.

Not sure how to hit the max speed as online material mention the 5Ghz actually can hit up to 2000+mbps. Most probably need to utilize all 4 bands or something
*
I see, thought if wifi can achieve 800+, then I will just get this model instead of GT-AC5300...

Is your RT-AC86U local or china set? How much you bought it?

Guys, I have excess CAT6 cable which previous I bought to relocate my router on the 1st floor of my house.

I'm planning to relocate back my router to the ground floor living area. And I wanted to cut my existing CAT6 into shorter length.

Any idea where can I do so and how much is the charges like usually?

What is the correct term for such cutting services?

Crimping RJ45 cable and connector?
*
I think so, I went back to the shop at LYP who sold me the cable for such service. But they say didn't provide such service due to not free to do so~

Just wanna know roughly how much is the charges for such service? And is there any specific grade of connector to be used for CAT5E, CAT6 & CAT7? Or connector is standard among all type of LAN cables?

RJ45 connector itself is standard for all CAT5, 5e and 6. Nothing specific.

-.- The shop would rather ask you to buy new one. It brings more profit for the shop.
*
Then what am I going to do with my 20+meter of CAT 6 cable???

Hahahaha, wrap it on my router perhaps~

Be sure to buy solid core 8P8C connector and not those cheap stranded 8P8C that designed to be used with stranded wire, it also recommended that you purchase 8P8C connector that deisgned to pass CAT6 fluke test, also is you have extra budget you can buy a plug boots for cable strain relief and reduce chance/preventing those stupid pin from breaking
*
1. How do I differentiate the solid core vs stranded 8P8C RJ45 connector?
2. Is there any label or sign that shows the connector is designed to pass CAT6 fluke test?

Any recommended shop that has all the service about?

Hi guys, i intend to purchase Asus router from Chian taobao. Anyone has experience setting up the router? As i worry once i got it on hand, i cant set it up working and waste the money.
*
Which model of Asus router are your eyeing on?

11.11 should give you a good deal, but shipment back to Malaysia might take longer time~

Be grateful for what he did for us. I don't think TM will ever provide us such pricing / speed if it is still under BN. At least not so soon....

Just that if TIME can expand their coverage to landed properties, then it will be more perfect~

Tqvm for the link, will go through it~

Did go through the links, although not very sure I can fully understand it~

Just to ask, how do I differentiate from the outer part of the LAN cable, whether it is SOLID or STRANDED? Or it need to be cut off, and see the internal wire?

Actually is there any performance difference between SOLID and STRANDED LAN cables?

OR we just need to make sure the right connector to pair with the right cable?

The more I dig, the cheaper I see some Asus router from Taobao...

Some claim to be US set of Asus RT-AC5300 for RMB 7++ and GT-AC5300 for RMB 17++...

Asus Routers , and this particular shop is among the cheapest I can get before the 11.11 sales....

Anyone bought from this store before? Claim to be brand new, original and 3years warranty?

Thanks for the highlight, now I'm much more clearer...

So in order to know whether a LAN cable is SOLID or STRANDED, the only method is to cut the wire inside and see it ourselves? Or there is some code/term printed on the cable itself?

So those cable that we buy at pc shop, mostly are STRANDED?

Becareful of refurbished item.
To be safe just buy from asus flagship store.

Which is why I won't get from those sellers that offer way too low price. Also need to see the store rating too...

Dont know, You can check the side of connector and see shape of the pin. from what i heard from other people most/some Molded ethernet cable that premade from factory is made from stranded wire.
*
QUOTE(dayojah @ Nov 4 2018, 10:25 AM)
Cable intended for connecting from wall plate to your PC aka patch cable is supposed to be stranded for flexibility. This type is usually bought pre-connectored.
Cable going in ducts and risers aka plenum cable should be solid core for lower loss. This is normally connected on site. This cable is often sold in 305m boxes
*
Previously I bought 1 custom length from LYP pc shop, they pull the length that I wanted from a box, which I think is the 305m boxes you mentioned.

So SOLID LAN cable, can we make a 90 deg bend if we want to nail it on the wall? Will the wire broken?

My own house and my inlaws house located 3km away driving distance. So in straight distance maybe about 2km. Plus my house located a bit higher ground compared to my inlaws.

So my question is ...Is that possible if i can install a dish on my roof and  beaming it towards my in laws house and provide them my Internet? My current plan is 500Mbps.

Can save another subscription on my inlaw. Anyone??
*
Is it even legal to do so in the 1st place?

If yes, will placing those dish near to where we stay, will affect our health?

What about the cost of building the setup? Worth the money saved for sharing?

How long usually it takes for mcmc or tm to resolve my complaint? I have waited for like almost a month.
*
My last report was not even assign to anyone before TM upgraded my Unifi. Complaint was lodged for 2 weeks, of course between this period, I also went to TM Point once a week, live chat and bugging them daily...

Previously I was a bit naive to think that TM will handle professionally. Turn out they just give you scripted reply and close your report without any solution given. Hence need to be more active towards what you demand from them~

My TM TP Link C1200 V1 with this firmware : 1.0.0 Build 20180403 rel.22124.

Just updated not long ago after got turbo. So far didn't see any issue, even though all the while before turbo and firmware upgrade, this router serve me well~

i just upgraded the router as well. wondering why the download speed only capped at 300 Mbps via 5 Ghz for turbo upgrade 500 Mbps package?
*
Hahaha, I'm not expert in this. But my S9+ only manage to obtain 250+mbps from my unifi 800MB via 5GHz...

But this C1200 is just a entry level router to my understanding. So if you want higher wifi speed, suggest to get a better router. Can refer to Page 1, green text for some suggestion~
