Hi, my package was automatically upgraded to 500mbps @ Rm139 per month recently (from 100mbps @ Rm149 per month).

Can I downgrade back to 100mbps? Don't really need that much speed for daily usage.

Anyone can advise? I switched from unifi to Time around 4-5 months ago.

Thanks much.
*
Yes you are allowed to downgrade, are you still within contract ? If so, your contract will be reset.

Thanks.

How's the performance for the powerline?

How fast is the speed ? I know expensive routers are the way to go but I have many walls in my home so even the most expensive wireless router will not give me the speeds I desire at the rooms located far away from the router. I'm using the Tenda AC 15 router - was good before - now with the 500 Mbps speed I can't achieve the published speed unless I'm very close to the router when on 5Ghz.
*
The powerline speed is bad although it shows the same as wireless, my gaming was constantly spiking on the latency. I unplugged the powerline and it went smoothly.

My house have not much walls, its a 800 sq ft apartment but somehow the speed is mediocre. My room have power adapters but no built in ethernet socket on the wall.

On a sidenote, which is better? D-Link DIR 882 or ASUS RT-AC1300UHP in terms of value for money and performance? icon_question.gif

And does using powerline able to make the wifi signal stronger? This is because im using 2 powerlines by putting 1 in each room as its in wifi dead zone

Thank you all for your opinions notworthy.gif

Im looking at asus mesh wifi but will I require any ethernet cables? Or I should just plug the mesh device into any power adapter?

It depends on which type of Mesh routers, some the main/primary unit will need to connect to the router whereas some can directly perform pppoe dialing...the pairing units can work with/without cable.

DIR-882 & AC1300UHP more or less the same in real world performance.

I am on 1 Gbps plan. I am having issue where the speed will drop to 200 to 300 mbps and when I restart my router, it goes up to 900+ mbps. I  tested with speedtest app on two laptops connected by wired and both same results.

Report back to CS, as we do received similar feedback from other customers. There is nothing wrong with your router.

Since we're on the topic, hope you don't mind I'm going into specifics.

I'm currently using Huawei WS880 (with AsusWRT Merlin firmware) for 500Mbps package. For AC wifi, I only manage to get 250Mbps DL / 300Mbps UL on average. No issue on LAN.

Thinking of getting the C3150 V2 but upon checking on this link https://analiti.com/compare/d-link-dir-882....s.asus-rt-ac86u , DIR-882 is surprisingly better despite being abit cheaper than C3150.

Not going to upgrade to 1Gbps package anytime soon. I'm happy enough to get any router that can achieve 450-500Mbps on 5Ghz.

Coverage wise, the WS880 can cover the whole apartment at the moment so C3150 or DIR-882 should be no issue I think.
*
I used to own the WS880 with the xwrt-Merlin firmware, the WiFi speed is actually kinda slow even compared to RT-AC68U.

I am still in the progress of reviewing the DIR-882. My initial thoughts of the WiFi coverage is kinda similar to the C3150. Long range performance is decent as I am getting close to 400Mbps when I am running a speedtest in my room with the router outside.

The fact is, it is really hard to be consistent when reviewing WiFi router. I always rely on SmallNetBuilder as a basis of my review as they test routers in a controlled environment. The DIR-882 ranked slightly behind the RT-AC86U.

I still think the DIR-882 offers very good value for money like the WS880, if you can live with D-Link firmware. smile.gif

Hi,

Recently my package has already upgrade to 500Mbps but the max speed i get is around 130Mbps only on Wifi 5Ghz and LAN.

Router : Tplink Archer C2600.

Could any one please advise what I can do?

Even changed to cat6 on WAN but still not able to achieve even 150Mbps.

Should be the same issue that I faced last time with my AC1200. See my previous reply below.

Hey there, I'm using the same router AC1200 and faced the same problem last time. Wifi 5GHz stuck at ~100Mbps and LAN 5e stuck around ~150Mbps on 500Mbps package.

For me it is because of the NAT Boost is disabled.

Advance > System Tools > System Parameters > NAT > NAT Boost (make sure checkbox is checked)

Once enabled, Wifi 5GHz can go up to ~390Mbps and LAN cat 5e ~500Mbps. Let me know if it works for you, thanks

Refer to this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDLn9rJX76E

If you want all of your wireless devices to automatically reconnected after this setup, use the same name and password for both 2.4 and 5GHz ssid.

Do let me know if you need further assistance.
Do key in the same Wi-Fi ID and Password ya.
Later everyone ask what happened to the Wi-Fi.

I'm happy to help you out.

Thanks.

Hi sifus, I have already reset my router TP Link AC1200 and now it gives me a SATISFYING result which can afford 350Mbps on my iPhone 7+ (which only 280Mbps before) but also MAYBE because it’s late night so traffic “no jam” alrd? Hahahaa

Cz last time bfor this I tried on 11PM like that

But anyway big thanks! I bought USB3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet and the Cat6 cable can reach up to 1000Mbps, tried with the stock ethernet cable which included with the modem also can reach 500Mbps on speedtest (?) Am I wasting my money buying extra Cat6 cable?

Hmm... cost RM25 also

Hi,

Welcome. Though you can use powerline to extend the signal coverage to another corner (Eg. room) but the speed/bandwidth you will be getting will be significantly reduced. Like your case (Eg. 500Mbps), if you depend on the powerline c/w wireless type, the performance will be disappointing for both signal coverage & speed.
If you don't mind for the speed drops, and that area you wanna cover cannot be effectively covered by wireless bridging then you can consider powerline.

If you want performance, many times powerline is not really plug & play as it claims to be.... understanding & tuning of electrical characteristics needs to be done.

Anyway if your friends have a pair of them, just borrow and test before buying.

* Wait for real AV2 powerlines to be available.

my c1200 had nat boost enabled but can't get full speed as well. On c2600 do not has nat boost. I brought it from another house to try while unifi able to go up to 400Mbps with Wi-Fi but not able to get 150Mbps on Time.

Hello fellow veterans, I just got upgraded to 500mbps package without any contract running at the moment as I have finished my 24months like a month ago. My hardware spec & details below:

Router: Still using the existing DIR-850L from Time.
WiFi speed: Tested using MBP on 5ghz- 230mbps+- download; 210mbps+- upload. (next to the router)
Wired speed: Tested using my desktop Win8 with Cat5e cable- 510+mbps download; 430+- upload. (directly connected into the router in the living room)

However my desktop is situated in another area where there are no ethernet socket port. I want to know if using a Powerline Adapter (Let's say TP-Link TL-WPA7510 KIT or D-Link DHP-P601AV) is advisable? I know I can always connect it via WiFi but I prefer to utilise the much higher speed via wired connection.

Thank you and appreciate any feedback and comments from all you veterans here.

Good stuff. Signal performance is very good. Beats AC3150 routers in the market.

For those that know technical details, AC3150 routers are basically AC2600 but they are AC3150 capable due to proprietary technology and only limited devices can enjoy.

Don't be fooled by the looks. smile.gif

Powerline is unreliable. You can try, but you will get significantly lowered speed.

That'a a big misconception by users.

Enterprise router from Cisco, Ruckus and Aruba got no external antennas normally.

SNB rank the Blue Cave at #2 for signal coverage.

Wow tempting. My 1800 sqft home with thick walls is a challenge for the Asus 1200G, was contemplating upgrading to a Lyra Trio, would the Blue Cave suffice, I wonder.
