Wow tempting. My 1800 sqft home with thick walls is a challenge for the Asus 1200G, was contemplating upgrading to a Lyra Trio, would the Blue Cave suffice, I wonder.

Both are very different concepts, I think the Trio will have slight an edge but I have no idea how good the radio is.

understood. At this point I am willing to forgo "total throughput" for a consistent connection in all bedrooms. Right now with a TPlink AC repeater I'm getting at most 20-30 in Bedroom 1, and 40-50 in other bedrooms. So if I can get 100Mbps stable across the house, I'm willing to not "utilise the 1gbps" all the time.

Possible with a good mesh solution. smile.gif

In progress of testing the Lyra as some say the product is so much better after a total firmware revamp.

Yes you are allowed to downgrade, are you still within contract ? If so, your contract will be reset.

Thanks.
*
Just check with you.
Previous 100mbps plan, now auto upgrade to 500 mbps (within contract)

If opt to downgrade back to 100mbps, I knew the contract will reset 24 months, just wonder any difference between the T&C (normally we won't read one laugh.gif ) eg. quota/Fup, modem lifetime warranty etc.

Hi,

Welcome. Though you can use powerline to extend the signal coverage to another corner (Eg. room) but the speed/bandwidth you will be getting will be significantly reduced. Like your case (Eg. 500Mbps), if you depend on the powerline c/w wireless type, the performance will be disappointing for both signal coverage & speed.
If you don't mind for the speed drops, and that area you wanna cover cannot be effectively covered by wireless bridging then you can consider powerline.

If you want performance, many times powerline is not really plug & play as it claims to be.... understanding & tuning of electrical characteristics needs to be done.

Anyway if your friends have a pair of them, just borrow and test before buying.

* Wait for real AV2 powerlines to be available.
*
QUOTE(Proton2.0 @ Oct 15 2018, 09:01 AM)
I think powerlines are good maybe 5 years ago...as its better than WiFi N and few people have internet beyond 100Mbps back then. What is powerline AV2, new standard?

Btw, seems like lots of people not getting the advertised speed after upgrade here....is it TIME's infra being pushed to the limit? I think they really cant handle the additional bandwidth load....dont think got so much problem previously....cukur my place steady 500Mbps.
*
Thanks guys, I might just wanna upgrade my router to ASUS AC86U and remove my powerlines haha

Aha, can't wait to see your review. In other news, it does seem Pineapple is selling the Deco M9 for less than RM1k online. Not sure if wrongly labelled or what.

Also, Netgear Orbi units (pricier a bit) can be found at AllIT with stickers saying "compatible with TM, Maxis, TIME" on them. Any experience with these?

It’s not wrongly labeled. Even official tplink Lazada store is selling at 999. Pineapple just 30 ringgit cheaper

I saw a couple units in AllIT IPC. 2-pack starts at RM1899 if not mistaken, and they only stock the older Lyra and no Decos (in case anyone else is interested).

I guess it's time for me to give some input, on saturday time authorised installer came over and install the new dir-882, the speed test he have done shows it top at 900mbps ish which is fine for me.

Well due to my house structure issue I need to use powerline to get a stable connection as the deepest room is not able to get good wifi signal..I bought 2 unit of TP-Link PA4010P to get full coverage in my house(keep in mind I already know the downside would be I am not getting full speed but I aim for stability anyway)

So back to the topic...using the AV500 powerline and running the dir-850l as an access point...I get around 30mbps ish speed for up/down stream on both WIFI and LAN connection..

The thing you can take away is that powerline significant reduce the speed

side note if anyone of you wish to tryout on the TP-Link PA4010 powerline you can PM me as I have an extra pair currently (might think of selling it off)

All i see is 500mbps which is achievable.

Im wondering about 1gbps over wifi, even 800mbps is good enough.

Not many people have that kind of level of hardware for receiver and router but just wondering who has done it for TIME internet.

Pass few pages only talk about router not a good receiver side eg like the pce-ac88 combo with good router.

Yes appreciate if you can make a test. I'm just on 500Mbps package. Just torn between DIR882 & C3150. To get around 490+ Mbps on 5Ghz is just good for me.
