@SilentVampire,
Oh, AC1200 cannot enjoy the 1Gbps even with network cable?

Will be bottleneck by the CPU. That’s why TIME is offering the DIR-882 for 1Gbps, as they anticipate this will happen.

Sorry to say this: I worry later there are a lot of customer complaint that they cannot get 1Gbps with WiFi after installed, pay more but cannot enjoy the 1Gbps speed ... because not everyone will use network cable  sweat.gif
*
Not possible to get 1Gbps over WiFi unless your device and router is top line,

Asus RT-AC86U. Click the link on my signature and see list of compatible routers.

If I go with the free router upgrade the previous router is still mine right? I'm using a tm ac1200 which I converted to time with a firmware upgrade. It works great with 300mbps before but since they upgraded me to 1gbps, nothing really changes with my wireless speed.

My wired sometimes do 500mbps now but I'm curious what a ac2600 router can do.
*
It will be a significant difference. A mid-range router can't compare with a high-range router.

QUOTE(baliwesti @ Oct 7 2018, 09:51 PM)
Just to add, when testing make sure you're not using Powerline adapters. Was using Aztech's HL128EP right now and only hitting 300Mbps. When using cable directly to router (Archer C3200) can reach 1Gbps.

I'm guessing the noise or some setting maxing it out at 300Mbps. sad.gif Time to buy new lan cables
*
Powerline is crap. Absolutely unreliable and not worth the money.

haha saw sifu always recommending the RT-AC86U. Really that good? but quite pricey leh.. any similar performance router which is cheaper?
*
Yes. It is really good. If you want something cheaper, you can try the TP-Link C3150 v2 or TP-Link C2300.

QUOTE(Panda12 @ Oct 7 2018, 10:20 PM)
Guys, how come my internet speed no difference? It's still the same as 100mbps even though I was upgraded to 500mbps. Is there any configurations that I need to set? Or do I need to buy new wireless router?
*
Something is capping your speed at 100Mbps. Highly likely it is your router. Please check the specs of your router.

QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ Oct 7 2018, 10:26 PM)
Oh, not AC88U?

C3150 = AC3150
AC86U = AC2900
AC88U = AC3100

Or is it need to compare other aspect as well? Tq sifu

(I refer spec with respect to each product page at their website)
*
Nope. AC86U is newer, and have better specs and yes, you have to compare other aspects.

Hi Guys,

As usual my router is the Dlink DIR-850L and I've been upgraded to 500mbps.

Been getting 190 - 250mbps over Wi-fi with my note 8 (standing right next to the router).

With Lan Cat5E + laptop i was able to achieve 480mbps.

Called Time and the customer sevice guy advised me to redeem the free TP-Link AC1200 router from selfcare.time.com.my and it can help me achieve better speed.

I am wondering if this TP-Link AC1200 would make any difference to my WIFI speed?
If the difference is very small, I dont think its worthwhile for me to redeem it as there will be a 24-month contract renewal.

Any advice guys?
*
Nope. It won’t. Check the link on my signature for list of compatible routers. You should get the C2300 for the chance of getting 500Mbps.

QUOTE(ikramkhasim @ Oct 7 2018, 11:21 PM)
I get up to 500Mbps on WiFi, but when my computer is connected to LAN, it's still capped at 100Mbps. Same as my TV on LAN. Is there a setting I'm missing? Using default Huawei and D-Link 850L and all cables are CAT 5e. Just strange that WiFi is over 200Mbps on all devices but LAN is not.
*
Yep, check the router to see if you have set your LAN port to 1000Mbps manually. See page 55: https://4amlxms1bqq223a181oxyv35-wpengine.n..._2.00_EN_US.pdf

Thanks for your reply bro.
Anyway, the product features of the tplink ac1200 says it has "Achievable speeds of up to 450Mbps over WiFi."

Wonder how accurate is this.
*
Not possible. Probably 100-200 in real life.

If i purchase the C2300 myself, I wouldn't know how to set up the router.

Is there a guide somewhere for me to refer to for installation/set up?

Easy. Just have your PPPoE details ready.

Hi SilentVampire,

Thanks for your recommendation for the C2300.

However, since we can get a D-Link DIR-882 from Time for only RM550 and free installation, should I get this DIR-882 instead of the C2300?

In your list of compatible routers, you have listed the D-Link DIR-882 can achieve up to 800mbps but the product features in Time selfcare only shows "Achievable speeds of up to 500Mbps over WiFi". (please refer to attachment).

What is your take on this bro?

Sorry for asking noob questions as I just want to make sure I am making the right decision before pulling the trigger.

Thanks in advance
*
I did state that it can achieve up to 800Mbps, but that is only in very optimal conditions.. I think I have a disclaimer at the bottom of the post lol. 500Mbps seem to be more likely, in real-life.

Honestly, the C2300 is better than the DIR-882 and it has better hardware specs, but it only has 3x3 MIMO compared to DIR-882 which has 4x4 MIMO, so it is ultimately up to you.

does anyone knows how to login to the Huawei HG 8240H GPON ? my Time technician told me the port configured incorrectly, thats why im getting 100mbps despite upgraded to 500.

You have to get TIME installers to do it.

QUOTE(kennyng77 @ Oct 9 2018, 08:48 PM)
My connection speed gets 500Mbps when connected direct from router (AC1200 from TIME) to PC with CAT6 cable. However, when I connected via TP-Link Powerline TL-WPA8630P Kit AC1200 with CAT6 cable, my speed only gets 250++Mbps. On wifi speed also only get 200++Mbps, which is quite disappointed.

Is that common? I thought this Powerline can support up to 867Mbps with 5Ghz as per described on the box.

My PC located another room, so I really need powerline to connect, I don't want to have super long cable connect from router to PC.
*
Yes, power line is notoriously unreliable and sensitive to electrical noise. The value on the box is just marketing and theoretical maximum. Your only option is to get a more powerful router for wireless or the best is to have a wired AP.

*
You don't need to enable anything. It is there by default. No, you do not need to enable beamforming in devices.

im switching from unifi to time. Need some advice from u guys. Will POWERLINE WiFi EXTENDER be suitable for condo? I want to install it specific to my gaming room.
*
Should be, but powerline is very sensitive to electical noise, so you might not get max speed even if you are wired crectly to the powerline.

QUOTE(Proton2.0 @ Oct 10 2018, 12:03 PM)
Gaming, always use wired. So yes, it is recommended.
*
It is only recommended if you are wired directly to the router, not powerline extender or WAP.

Previously i state will test powerline to somebody here, sorry forgot who. Here's some result:
Internet speed: 500Mbps
Software: Speedtest (Windows 10 app) using TIME server.
Router: Tplink C1200
Powerline adapter: Aztech 500Mbps model.
Test done from Bedroom:
1. Using 1Gbps USB 3.0 to Gigabit adapter - 115Mbps download, 12x Mbps upload. Latency 6 or 7.
2. Using my laptop built in Wifi N - slow until i don't want to say.
3. Using T9UH USB 3.0 adapter - 300Mbps download, 250 to 300 Mbps upload. Latency 2 to 3.

Test done next to router: (test is running while wife watching kdrama on a htpc connected via wired - can't tell wife to switch off kdrama...sweat.gif)

1. Using T9UH USB 3.0 adapter - 353Mbps Down / 341 Mbps Up. Latency 3. (TIME server)
2. Using T9UH USB 3.0 adapter - 367Mbps Down / 89  Mbps Up. Latency 4. (MacroLynx  server)
3. Using T9UH USB 3.0 adapter - 342Mbps Down / 298 Mbps Up. Latency 5. (DIGI server)
4. Using T9UH USB 3.0 adapter - 357Mbps Down / 383 Mbps Up. Latency 7. (TELEKOM server)

Hope these result is helpful.

My conclusion: Powerline adapter is only good up to 100Mbps internet. If you have > 100Mbps, please use Wifi AC with a good wifi adapter. biggrin.gif

Knew it tbh, so not a surprise.

Yes, should be enough. But, I highly recommend the C2300 or the C3150.

Suggest you change router rather than use extender or powerline.
