Hi, is there anyone got details? I have received email upgraded for free to 500Mbps and I feel like going to downgrade to 100Mbps , BUT ... written in Self Care that Contract Renewal 24 months , and for 500Mbps or 1Gbps is N/A. What does it mean? Is my contract reset / start from 0 (ZERO) again? Thanks in advance

TPLink supports 500Mbps "technically".

I believe if you downgrade from 500-100 your contract will be reset to 24Mo,
but if you upgrade to 1Gbps it won't reset. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
However if you already have TPLink C1200 router you will not get the new DLink 882 router upon upgrade.
Usually mesh wifi system will have a backhaul channel with high bandwidth to do all the heavylifting. Your performance won't be cut by half, but will be slightly reduced.
*
QUOTE(jjj2 @ Oct 11 2018, 06:00 PM)
If you are still in contract, after the auto upgrade, you can login to selfcare portal & choose to downgrade to 100Mbps with contract reset.
If you are no longer in contract, your contract will not be reset & you are free to choose any downgrade package you like.

500Mbps will be still using TP-Link AC1200.
*
Thanks sifus for the answers, then I won’t downgrade for my better future HAHAHA cz its almost a year since the first time I have been in Malaysia, if free and not be reset I can downgrade cz I seldom being at Malaysia nowadays , hmm... #savingmoney biggrin.gif

Archer C1200 itself can support wired speed p to 800Mbps--900Mbps. You have to make sure other factors such as your receiving devices (Laptop, Ipad, Mobiles etc) are all able to cope with that requirement. By changing router itself but having poor user devices will not give optimal performance.

In real word, we tested Archer C1200, wired the highest approx. 8xxMbps & wireless approx. 4xxMbps.

You can purchase the D-Link 882 via selfcare at subsidized price of RM550.
We have tested during installations, wired speed recorded 99xMbps & Wireless 4xxMbps.

Thanks.
*
Wah even D-Link 882 only 4xxmbps then using aC1200 will only give me how max of the speed? Thanks

I also have this same router. I think most, including mine, can only reach 250-300Mbps over wifi. Over Lan it can reach 500Mbps.

You can try buying a better router, which I did, but I think it’s not worth the effort given that not all devices can reach 500Mbps.
*
Ahh I see, could you please let me know what kind of better router can afford wireless speed up to 500mbps? Which is cheap affordable hahaa.. can xiaomi router afford? Anyway thanks in advance,

Or somebody else can help me about this here? I’m using Macbook Air 2014 which doesnt have any Gigabit Ethernet port sad.gif

I dare not recommend. I’m not knowledgeable in these things. I bought tplink C2300 based on recommendations here and also based on my budget. Improvement is there but found I only got 1 device that can get that speed consistently.

Plus different situations will yield different results. Btw I like Xiaomi stuff but I think for router better get other brands haha.
*
Hahaa, thanks bro, btw I just read some articles about MU-MIMO products like AC2300, and maybe my solutions to reach maximum speed is to buy thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet😂 so I can enjoy the full speed while using my ancient Macbook Air

Hi. Which router that you're currently using?

You need to get the PPPoE details ready.
After you factory reset you need to key in your PPPoE details.

For example, ID: XXXX@timebb
I can guide you with the configuration.

Thanks.
*
Hi sir, thanks in advance, sorry my router is TP-Link AC1200 which is stock router from Time , and how to get my PPPoE ? Can just copy paste from my router before reset? smile.gif

And I’m going to buy J5 USB3.0 to Gigabit ethernet for my macbook, has anyone here tried it? Max speed? Thanks in advance

The PPPoE details is written in your work completion form.

EDIT: You may get the PPPoE Password by using Inspect Element.
I may guide you.

Thanks

I'm using the same router AC1200, you should be able to get the PPPOE username and password as per screenshot below. Router login URL and credential should be under your router.
*
OK I got it already so what should I do next? You mean reconfigure just simply reset to factory default? And just re-setting the router? THanks in advance again biggrin.gif

Refer to this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDLn9rJX76E

If you want all of your wireless devices to automatically reconnected after this setup, use the same name and password for both 2.4 and 5GHz ssid.

OK noted with thanks sifu, will try later at midnight while everybody’s sleeping hahaa biggrin.gif

Do let me know if you need further assistance.
Do key in the same Wi-Fi ID and Password ya.
Later everyone ask what happened to the Wi-Fi.

I'm happy to help you out.

Thanks.

Hi sifus, I have already reset my router TP Link AC1200 and now it gives me a SATISFYING result which can afford 350Mbps on my iPhone 7+ (which only 280Mbps before) but also MAYBE because it’s late night so traffic “no jam” alrd? Hahahaa

Cz last time bfor this I tried on 11PM like that

But anyway big thanks! I bought USB3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet and the Cat6 cable can reach up to 1000Mbps, tried with the stock ethernet cable which included with the modem also can reach 500Mbps on speedtest (?) Am I wasting my money buying extra Cat6 cable?

Hmm... cost RM25 also

Hi Bro,

If you are still within contract, after downgrade, all promos that you are currently enjoying (if any) will be removed, and contract will be reset.
There is no penalty.

Have you claimed your free router ?
*
How to claim and how do I know that bro? Bcs now Im using TP Link aC1200 provided by TIME smile.gif

If you are using Archer C1200 there will be no free router anymore.

The Free Router is a campaign to enable those customers whom previously using ZTE H298N & even older Linksys routers to replace with dual band routers.

Thanks.
*
Then does it mean after downgrade I will still eligible to use that router right? Hehehe thanks a lot sir
