How do you know which band you're connected with?

I'm on Huawei E5770s-320 MiFi that supports Band 5, 38 & 40. It just shows LTE... nothing much... usage area - Shah Alam

Yep, i already screenshot'ed CS chat and proceeded to MCMC complaint. The cap started on last thursday/29.3.18 iirc. i usually got around 10Mbps on morning and then suddenly hovers around 3Mbps +-10%. Just hoping that they will uncap again cos if i wants to port out, i got another 4 numbers under my name.

Yes wimax is alot better that LTE.

I am still using yes 4g wimax.the stability is amazing and place other telco only have h+ support yes have 4G coverage..

The problem with wimax is the cost to expand the coverage. 1 antenna can cover up to 10km while LTE require alot more.

The only issue is there nothing to fall back like LTE it can switch between 2G to 3G to 4G while wimax only have 4G.

I am still staying with YES 4G because wimax.

Dont make sense webe cap #bebas plan speed. Let user finish quota as fast as posible. This is not webe unlimited never ending quota 99999GB plan.

Because webe is unlimited while unifi prepaid is not.

1gb 3g/1gb lte is freaking expensive so the real point you dont see.

For webe it make sense because its unlimited.

Why paying customer want their speed to be cap?

Just change to another carrier if you feel the service is unacceptable. They won’t make a move unless the sales statistics speak.

no telco would ever promise you "full speed" la.

everything is best effort and will be managed as and when they see fit. it's all in the T&C, FUP, etc etc

They did not state that they will give you full speed but only unlimited. Same goes to all Telcos, all will be based on Best Effort since it is depending on the base stations capacity.

1) No expiry date as long as got usage
2) Company already set, can't do much
3) Depends on location coz coverage not so big for 4G
4) Usually due to building blockage (material, thickness of building wall)

in this case, LTE is slightly better that Wimax?
*
AFAIK, Wimax is an old technology, Intel no longer develop it while LTE is different.
webe LTE is using Band 5 (most area) which technically able to cover wider area as compared to other telco 1800, 2300 or 2600.
However, TM being a newbie on LTE game, what they lack of are the tower/network/repeater, thats why some area which has more subscribers will encounter slowness.
And that also depends whether your phone can support Band 5 or not.

webe focusing with band 40 2300mhz
Beginning Q1 2017, webe will be rolling out 2.3GHz TD-LTE coverage which will provide a higher capacity on top of its existing 850MHz LTE network. According to the chart shown above, this would possibly deliver faster speeds up to 110Mbps. For the first phase, webe will be targeting 5 key areas in Malaysia namely the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

In a nutshell, band = range of frequencies it operates. So, if the device doesn't support that particular band, then no signal. For example, band 5 (850Mhz). If the area runs on band 5, but your device doesn't support it, then it's shows as no signal. sweat.gif

Another example, say that your phone Redmi 4x. It supports band 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38 & 40. It shows that it supports all Unifi Mobile LTE band (5, 38, 40). So where ever the're an LTE coverage, your phone should be able to pick it up. thumbup.gif

hi,

I have 2 webe accounts (1 main 1 supp). After using few months, i decided to mnp to other telco due some reason.

Would you guys mind to guide me how should I proceed to mnp to other telco?

Should i go to webe centre and ask for termination ? How about my both phone no. ?

Or i just go to telco centre and apply for mnp?

After using it for weeks as main number, I am considering to port out already.
Some area speed is decent, some area totally unable to load web pages.
Very unreliable as a main number.

I use one of my sim in Huawei E5770s-320 MiFi, support band 5 & 38.  thumbup.gif but not band 40  sad.gif

So where ever the're an LTE coverage, your phone should be able to pick it up.  thumbup.gif

2x 20MHz refers to the spectrum bandwidth allocated by MCMC to the telco.
For FDD-LTE, they need different frequencies for transmit and receive. 20MHz bandwidth for transmit vice versa.

Sometimes you see they have 1x 20MHz for YES and WEBE. They are using TDD-LTE in this case. Same frequency can be used, but transmit and receive happens at different time.

FDD - Frequency Division
TDD - Time Division

When FDD is deployed, the frequency must be in pair for example 5MHz for upload and 5MHz for download. For TDD, only a piece of 5MHz need to be deployed. FDD definitely uses more spectrum bandwidth but their transmit rate is higher than TDD. Both are similar in terms of spectral efficiency.

So spaces in between in gap for the uplink and downlink are assigned for TDD to ensure all spectrum are used.

dial out la.

save the number as sim card ID. some phone like xiaomi allow u to save the number for each sim.

QUOTE(azhar75 @ Feb 2 2018, 11:49 PM)
Tips:

All SIMs comes with "empty" mobile number in the 128K chip. Some smartphones can "save" the mobile number into the 128K chip. If one needs to keep many SIMs, one should "save" the number for individual SIM so that doesn't mix up when switching SIM. Very handy when trying to login to the mobile@unifi app...

One of my phones can only use Basic Data (no LTE band 5).

So I added-on some Basic Data. The app shows remaining usage, which always go down with use, as expected.

BUT the balance is sometimes it 100MB higher, and sometimes not. If you have come across it, you will know what I mean. Has anyone come across it?

Any real life evidence of it being cancelled/terminated/suspended so far without any reload but with any kind of usage?

You will get a SMS on the expiry date.

One more thing, for those who are using Xiaomi MIUI, try switching preferred network to 3G and back to LTE if you can't get 4G connection. Aeroplane mode and back doesn't work. This doesn't happen on my DiGi 4G though.

There’s no expiry period as long as your line is active, which means your unutilised data, minutes, and SMSes will not expire!

I got Note 3 phone on unifi sim as well. Weird is that under mobile network option there is no 4G option for me to select on this simcard.

What I did is to dail *#2263#, set the network to WCDMA/LTE mode. This will change the network to use 3G or 4G network and support call in/out. When you call out, the network will switch back to 3G. But I don't like this mode because it will switch back to 3G whenever 4G signal is weak causing network error when you depleted your 50MB of 3G data. Most of the time I still preferred to switch to LTE mode only even this mode doesn't support call. tongue.gif

why my phone cannot call out even i switch 3g? thats weird. the sim card is ok when i switch to another phone i can call out. anyway, same as you i dial the 2263, then i select lte , then i select the band 5. so i can get 4g signal all the way.

I think you can set the network to auto/3g/4g and then lock to 4G only using 4G LTE Switcher ( no ads ) apk at Google Play store if it's compatible. Have a try. No need to enter specific code force 4G again

Network name is webe under 2G mode or unifi with 3G/4G
you will get a few sms welcome to unifi and internet setting.

If u don't use ur unifi mobile for calling, u can use 4G switcher app to use only LTE for the Internet SIM so it will always in 4G whenever there is 4G signal.

I've just tested the connection side by side between webe broadband 30gb and unifi mobile.. (both 4G on Huawei E5377s-32)

Random sites loading from google news feels that Unifi mobile respond faster compared to webe broadband..
Also, several test on fast.com indicating that Unifi mobile is at the speed of 1.2mb, 2.4mb and 5mb speed.
btw, I'm in Penang, Bayan Baru area.

My intention is to use all the free 20 gb so that even if deactivated, I don't waste the sim.

If Tm keep their promise and the sim is still active based on usage, then well and good. For all my other 3 sims ( which I only applied one month later), I will just use a little bit data towards the end of every 90 days to keep active.

Please be informed, that we do not capped the data speed as we comply with the standards and guidelines given by SKMM. You may want to refer to our frequently ask question regarding data speed capping at https://community.unifi.com.my/t5/Mobile/Is.../m-p/4155#M4948.
In addition, data speed delivered varies depending on the location and the best bit rate that network can offer to you at the delivery time, depending on the current traffic load.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as there is no instant solution but we are in the midst of expending our 4G coverage.

Thank you"
They insist and specifically state that they do not cap the speed and may dependant on device/area bla2. This is coming from a couple of staff that was assigned on SKMM complaint.

Installed my Unifi mobile's unused Sim (90days abt to expire) into my phone and enabled wireless hotspot.

1) Android Box-Watched Champions League (hd) -1.6gb

2) Windows PC- Download movie (Cloud service -3.08gb) took about 18 min ( quite alright 👍).

Balance left 15.3 gb.

If like that then I better buy Bebas unlimited 7 days x 4 (rm20/-x4) and close my Digi Infinite100 (5mbps).

Must now go look for band 5 4g sim router.

*
My house lip sin area, speed test can get 10-20Mbps

*
Then challenge them to come to your location and do speedtest together
If not keep complining to SKMM.
And now show them ....why VPN can get higher speed.

But then ..you risk getting ban but then so what...to prove to them..asshole...capping is real.

not necessarily.it's only worth it only area is covered with band 38/40.and availability is limited

if only band 5 better dont take this. as speed is horrible. below 3Mbps and max at 6 to 7Mbps.

Though I'm not sure which band my mum's phone is connected to but in Rasah Kemayan, Seremban still can get 12-15Mbps with UniFi Mobile.
Too bad back in our hometown in PD, only less than 3Mbps which can't do much.

Anyway, this is a good alternative for Digi Infinite if living in cities, speed in my PJ house is about 50Mbps, still not bad. hmm.gif

Should get router supporting B38

B5 sucks. everyone knows it
Next alternative is B40, but since it is lower frequency, bound to be more users.
Plus TM selling a powerful router that can B5 and B40

So the best is to get B38 with the powerful router so that less congestion.

But knowing webe with their flip flopping policies, this loophole gonna get closed soon.
Probably capped to 5Mbps or something.

The want all the > 1,000,000 free users to just let go of unifi mobile ?

They don't want us at all ?

I have no idea what is on TM's mind.

If they want to make it prepaid, then have to think why people use prepaid and not postpaid.

First 90 days will start to expire in 2 weeks time.

Unifi mobile speed is not as good as hotlink... but the speed is enough for me to do browsing ... and the remaining balance never expire as long as the line is active. Unlike hotlink topup rm30 every month and paid rm30 for 2gb data... if data not finish in 30 days... all Will be forfeited...

Download speed about 15Mbps ish. But Upload speed is shit. For speedtests, it takes a while to ramp from 0->0.07->1mbps->2mbps

Anyone encounter the same?

Band 38 is TDD-LTE, they could configure download speed to upload speed ratio however they want so they probably have high ratio. This is what you can't do in FDD-LTE

Not sure whether it is related to my RSRP which is -100dBm plus plus.
SiNR is pretty good due to less congestion. But b38 itself is a high frequency band, which might contribute to the slower upload.

I tried running B40 tests but there is more congestion, hence slower speeds than B38

EDIT:
Tried on B38 with my phone. Same behaviour.

Then I tried this. Spam many web activity upload/download before speed test. The upload speed ramp up considerably faster.
Looks like a transmit power saving feature by unifi

While I appreciate the new concept for this sim card (no expiry for data), the download speed is really terrible.

At the central of KL, with 4G full signal bar with band 38, I can barely get 1~2Mbps.
Compared with Maxis, also 4G(+) with full signal bar, I can get 5~10Mbps.
Even if I don't look at the numbers, in my typical browsing experience there is a significant difference in speed, unifi is like 2x-3x slower.

I understand I shouldn't compare to Maxis for its download speed since Maxis put so much money in infrastructure, but from a consumer perspective I can't really switch to unifi as my main sim card...

Just got my sim yesterday at QCM. I asked one of the the staff there about minimum usage to keep my line active but she told me to top up before 90 days. So i asked her what about the official statement from TM that any outgoing usage will prolong validity. She told me they did get the information about it but still advice me to top up to avoid line getting terminated. Seems like even after the official statement was given out, their staff still not sure which one to follow. Kinda makes me worried. sweat.gif

I collected and activated mine on 28th Jan, I supposed will expire on 27th April.
Awaiting your feedback, I will MNP 3 no. out to other telco, let my mum continue using one as data plan for her dual SIM phone. Then I will reload RM 10 to extend her validity.

I thought you activate or not, once collected already considered activated? So it doesn't matter if you activate just one or five one shot.

The 16.97 gb balance, isn't that your old free data?

Try clicking on the history on top left then select add-ons, see if there is any info displayed there.

Thanks man. will wait for the update. but still, TM should tell their staff to only give 1 definite answer to avoid confusion.

if u self collect, all the sim will auto activated the day u collected the sim but for those who opt for the delivery they will be given 30 days to activate. if not activated by then it will auto activated on the next day after the period.

You could get faster download speeds when you locked into Band 38/40 than Band 5 which have limited capacity. (but your area/location must support Band 38/40).

The signal will unlikely to drop if the signal in your area is not stable if locked to 4G only. You will not able to use anything however if a particular location have no Unifi 4G signal.

No it won't show for the initial batch of sims. The latest mobile app erased all histroy info for the free addons for the early baches. It will only show history add-on info for the new batches.

I have 2 sims collected on January and 3 sims collected one month later in Feb. The first two sims were showing the free history add-on info initially, but after update to the latest app, the info disappeared.

The 3 sims collected in Feb was ok, unaffected, can still see the info.

The performance should be the same regardless it is 4G LTE only or not.... but it won't switch to 3G even the lte signal is very weak

Ok, I have just re-checked my Feb sims ( collected end of Feb), and the history of the free 20gb activation date has also disappeared.

So my conclusion is, the history of free data activation date will show only for 1st month after collection , after that it will disappear.

So the only way to check the date is via the Order tracking option.

Very soon when more and more subscribe, it will end up congested , then they will cap the speed, exactly like webe before. After that we can move on to another Telco biggrin.gif

I always update my apps and unfortunately no longer able to see the date. laugh.gif
Luckily I recalled I have collected and activated them on 28th Jan (one day after my birthday tongue.gif), so if based on manual calculation should be on 28th April but I'm not taking the risk of losing my nice numbers. I will MNP them out this week. laugh.gif

Like I mentioned, can always check the Order tracking on the top left of the App. You just have to key in your i.c and registered email and the captcha, and it will show you the collected and activated date of every order you have made.

Don't so fast MNP yet, wait for those who activated on 23 Jan for feedback smile.gif

One of my Sim's activation date is 26 Jan 2018, I only started using it 3 days ago, solely for free data usage (remaining only 4.6gb). On 26th I will find out the truth.

PC sure got some option to display streaming speed and Resolution. On my Samsung TV I just press the info button on the remote, it will display the details.

btw, If 1 hr only 1 gb, then it's not 4K. 4K will take up about 7 gb per hr.

Go under hypnosis ? biggrin.gif

I can't seem to recall, but did they ever give a copy of collection slip during collection ?

Another idea. Last time I got this sms from 63001 from unifi mobile for only one of my sims (Jan) , informing me of successful registration and activation. Maybe you can check back on their sms if you have not already deleted.

no issue for me.... gotten 1x unifi wbb + 5x unifi #bebas

do you know the reason for the block? probably u got outstanding from previous P1/Webe/TM services before? IINM, they will check against overdue outstandings, even after termination. as long as got overdue outstanding, you cannot subscribe.

For your phone, you probably need to change first slot to 3G or GSM first then only can change slot 2 to LTE.

since the app is slow and buggy, i've managed to get data from the app and made a web version of it.
now can check my balance info from my browser. just using it for personal use. dont want to get in trouble or something sweat.gif
the 20GB free addon is still in the history data. just not displayed in the app.
but sadly there's no account validity info. just got the one that says "active" like in the app.

Thanks. will try this later. Anyway the app is kind of buggy. Sometimes your info at your profile goes missing. And yesterday my 3G data freebies also missing from the dashboard lol.

Anyway for those who want to check when was your last data usage, this is what I do. I just check at phone settings > data usage > unifi mobile. Quite a hassle but until they implement validity check on their app, this is what I can think of.

1 of 5 unifi simcard is defective, can ask for change foc or need pay rm10?

btw, the free 20gb all expire by end of this month 30/4 or 3 mths from the day one took simcard from tmpoint?
*
I believe just keep ur SIM active by reload or buying add-ons then the free data will still remain.

Internet still not working. Chat in App not working.

Any new solution for the problem that the internet is so slow that it is unusable no matter how strong the 4G signal is?

The rm20 unlimited maybe just temporary.
I using it on iPad but not able to tethering.
However I can tethering from my iPhone or using it on a 4g modem router and share out.

plan to use short term only for now so not planning to invest too much on it. is it that if it can support any of the band listed then should be fine? I saw ipad can support band 5.

if i gonna use a modem, what band should i look into? why i saw ppl say band 5 is not supported but everywhere else saying unifi mobile only using band 5?

Most places where Unifi mobile has 4G coverage will have Band 5. The places with Bands 38/40 (faster performance) as well are a bit more limited at the moment.

3g only 20mb or so. 10gb or 20gb free data or bebas requires you to be in 4G or LTE to work.

You mean two days after picking up the sim or two days for port out processing?

two days porting out process after they start to process (u will receive an SMS from Unifi, must reply YES for port)

i have to manual port via email. (I buy Tunetalk simcard, send email into Tunetalk, give them Tunetalk Simcard Serial, only can Port).

Tunetalk website unable to choose Unifi Mobile as MNP choice.

I'm currently using MiFi too. But with it running 24/7, the battery has started to get bloated already. So now looking for a better modem router.

From here, I read that people are using the B618 or Tenda 4G680. Would like to know if it's worth to get the B618 as it's more expensive?

Thanks

I think it's not about the Telco, but plugging in the power supply to the battery 24/7 might cause it to worn out faster. It's like charging and using your phone at the same time, 24/7 sweat.gif sweat.gif

I have the Huawei E5377s-32. Earlier, I was finding ways to power up the mifi without putting in the battery.
After a round of research, I think Huawei purposely disable this way of using the mifi, in order for their other bigger CPE LTE modem router can sell. (coz last time TP-Link 3G mifi can power up without battery)

If you're handy with electronics, voltage or have friends who are into mobile repair. Maybe you can directly send the power (power adapter or voltage regulator) to the power pin located at the back of the mifi.

digi infinite sim line ok ka? unifi mobile at peak hours slow gila babi 1-2mbps max.

hard to said and hard to explain. coz different location different speed and different tower and different congestion issue.

buy a prepaid and test it out. if speed not bad, directly convert to i150. hp/ipad signal is weak, if good them get a modem. everything should be fine and better than streamyx if u have no option for unifi or others fiber.

Well, unifi didn't remove the cap, but downloads from sites other than play store (still max 400KB/s) is faster than before but with 6Mbps++ cap

Speedtest got 20Mbps++ on band 40.

Screenshot below shows download speeds from miui.com

I must have remembered wrongly then. I will be busy after Monday, I will MNP 3 no. first. I will abandon one so-so no. and keep the last SIM for my mum as her data plan. biggrin.gif

Guys, seriously, those who complain about the speed cap please report to MCMC.

I did so, with all the proofs, the 3rd day no more 3Mbps cap, and they denied that they capped the speed, now they change the speed limit just to fool us again!

Please, my report alone isn't enough, please report to MCMC or I will make a petition with all the users' complaints, don't just sit there doing nothing then expect others to do the action!!!

So this BEBAS thingy, unlimited data. Does it also mean unlimited speed or there is a cap on speed wise? Hate the companies just promote either “Unlimited data” but never mention the speed or “Unlimited speed” but never mention the quota.

They might offer similar promo from time to time but to make it permanent add on especially for 7 days unlimited, I don't think so.

Tomorrow is the D day for those who took up UnifiMobile Sims on 24Jan. To top-up or not? Anyone still receiving SMS asking to reload for validity extension?

reload 3 sim out of 12 sims, if really expire then say goodbye to those 9 sims.
No point to spend so much money on a telco which has no indoor coverage

Was at TMpoint today to find out latest info on this issue and was reassured that as long as the SIMs are being used(for anything) they will be valid for another 90 days. But I will still reload rm10 into 6 of my nice-number SIMs tomorrow just in case. Another batch of SIMs were taken on 30Jan.
