Seems like rocket lake s will have premium pricing at every core count compared to zen 3. Add in intel’s typical mobo premium and you’ve got a pricey system with likely high (hot) TDP.

If this was pre covid, in a perfect world, then sure those prices for Intel is retarded.

But in reality now, Zen 3 doesn't exist so it doesn't even matter if intel is more expensive on paper. Street price is what's most important.

Our prices will steer people away from Zen 3 though. Intel prices directly linked to US prices.

Not sure about current pricing for zen 3 but my 5600x was actually below Malaysian msrp. At that point in time no one expected shortage in CPU’s but COVID changed that. Pretty sure the new Intel chips will go the same way (scalpers and all).

No reason to expect Intel chips not to go the same way. Scalpers will make sure of that smile.gif

Intel makes their own CPUs. AMD contracts TSMC which is stretched thin to within their butt cheeks.

If there are plentiful stock, scalp what?

CPU idling eh......

......I just discovered running Qbittorrent......around 100+ connections results in "boosts" state on both 5950x and 3950x. doh.gif
The software or hardware cpu scheduler too aggressive.

Boosting to 4.6 - 4.9 Ghz just for Qbittorrent running? sweat.gif Tried other torrent clients = same.
My ancient I5-3570K and I3-4330 never turbo boost like this. These oldies just stay at 1600mhz and 800mhz idle when running torrent client.
*
Maintaining 100+ connections that upload and download at same time is intensive. My router would hang when too many connections.

AMD power plan is really more aggressive to push max speed when there's work to be done, even sync files or Defender scanning also can push to max. Right now I got Microsoft OneDriveFile Co-Authoring Executable doing some processing, using Power Saver the CPU only 2.42GHz speed and 7% utilization. When change to Ryzen Balanced, 10% utilization and CPU 4.0GHz speed. laugh.gif

I set to 0%, no stability issue. nod.gif

Honestly I don’t understand it myself. CPU processors shouldn’t be considered sticky goods since you can easily switch between intel and amd cpu’s on a Windows 10 OS if one of them is too pricey. But somehow or rather AMD cpu prices shot up even with plentiful of the previous intel gen in the market. Anyway my bet is going to be intel cpu to increase in price not because of cpu shortage, but because local store will continue bundle with expensive intel mobo (due to chipset shortage out of all things). I could be wrong and supplies may normalise next quarter but my running bet is that an amd zen 3 cpu + mobo will still be cheaper than an equivalent unlocked rocket lake cpu + mobo.

AMD CPUs shot up in price because there was not enough supply, demand > supply. Coupled that with the fact that x570 mobos hasn't moved much for a while since the announcement for Zen 3 meant that it encouraged sellers to bundle all other kinds of items within a purchase.

Obviously as usual, prices in this country does not reflect the prices of other countries. Of course Rocket Lake will be more expensive than it should be, but I don't see it being scalped to the extent of Zen 3.

Sorry boss. How to check on min cpu state.

I bought MSI X570 Unify hence zero RGB. As heard value for money for it cool board.

No B550 ITX Unify else I'd already be on the same boat. The Z490 ITX board is well built though.

Pricing is only really competitive vs 5600X. The eight cores - much less so. Assuming you're looking at AMD full bundles, of course - nobody's selling the CPU on its own without scalping.

rocketlake’s midrange is pretty cheap actually... and currently intel 10600K above dont have to bundle. Only the 10400F need to bundle with mobo because people are whacking it due to 3600 no stock. AMD’s price and stock is mostly related to TSMC. There’s no reason for intel to face shortages... while for price hike, it’s probably due to the price increase om the subtrates.. which is why recently everything semiconductor related even automotive is affected.

Come middle of march when Rocket Lake actually launches, I think I might just grab a high end i5/low end i7 with RTX3060Ti bundle at viewnet/C-zone so long as not scalper pricing if AMD still same setori sweat.gif sweat.gif

I'm quite surprise no one take this offer for sometime.

https://shopee.com.my/-COMBO-SET-MSI-MPG-X5...6036.6879772045

Did text YES IT if they can change the bundle to ITX board but the reply was a little disappointed. They just point me to Processor page + ITX motherboard page which is way to expensive than the Combo deal...

Could have pulled the trigger if it's ITX bundle with reasonable price...

hmmmm i actually manage to find stocks, just that their msrp if converted is kinda like our scalper prices.

But anyways, I will be looking at intel so hopefully the situation will be better since intel does not depend on TSMC.

as you know... TSMC is not only making ryzen pro for laptops, they are also got massively stretched with 3000 series ryzens especially the 3500x and 3600, RDNA for their gpus along with ps5 and Xbox. And also for other clients like apple which still buying the A13 7nm chips... not to mention qualcomm too.

If you gonna OC 5900x using that mainboard, better ensure a very good airflow.

The combo price is somehow.....expensive by around RM400? sweat.gif

400 better than RM 33xx for processor only bangwall.gif I'm only interested in ITX... not looking for ATX board...

AMD itx better avoid X570. The super hot chipset will melt in that tiny package if your airflow is restricted or using AIO.... better opt for B550. asus B550i strix is probably the best AMD board on RAM OC thanks to asus bios and the 2 dimm slot.

ITX board stock for B550 should be plenty. Just try asking shop for ITX bundle like Czone and viewnet. I'm sure they will be happy to quote.
