Bruh, I literally said that they don’t even allow me to make the transaction. They forced me to use my physical card. Guy knew I wanted to use Apple Pay but said cannot.

Then just accept or leave it. No point arguing or reasoning with them. I never met this kind of merchants before. So no comments on how to react. I only met some didn’t know such thing exists and they were surprised when I paid with my watch. They said they learnt something new.

Yeah agreed, just annoyed because imagine if you only brought your phone that day and no wallet. I guess don’t need to pay lmao. But in all seriousness, I noticed that another restaurant that the staff are always friendly to me and gives me a free drink, uses the same bank terminal as this merchant as well. Are there banks in Malaysia that are anti Mobile Wallet (Apple, Samsung and Google Pay)?

Actually u dun need to mention Apple Pay specifically, just told them paywave. Coz not everyone know Apple Pay just works like paywave.
*
Yes, simply mention that you're paying by card, and when the terminal is presented, just wave your Apple Pay.

Anyone manage to re-add back an updated card (same account number, different expiry & CVV) to apple pay?

My Maybank Amex CC expired recently. Once I remove the old card from the wallet app, I could not re-add as the app keeps saying the card is already in the wallet....

Edit: Seems like need some time before adding the updated card info after deleting the old one. I can register the new CC a few hours later I deleted the old one.

Last weekend I tried to purchase some in-flight drinks with Apple Pay (HSBC and Maybank), it showed successful on the terminal, but once it's connected to internet, I keep getting notified that the payment is declined . Anyone tried Apple Pay in flight before?

I tried before but mine my successful.

I experienced once (not ApplePay but Wise physical card) in Switzerland the transaction was recorded successful in the terminal and CC slip was printed but the app showed declined. As a good tourist, went back and ask them to check that transaction, on their end the payment went tho successfully. Many months pass, still didn't deduct anything from my Wise so I guess free meal lol

i don’t understand why need to use cimb credit card, if you want apple pay, just get hsbc, maybank, SCB card

nowadays it is damn easy to get credit card unless you are black listed.

I have CIMB TWE and it was the best card until 31.12.23 (benefits were reduced), I was using it almost exclusively on daily and honestly if CIMB had Apple Pay activated last year, it would be the best for me at that time.

That said, I have other cards/banks, so not an issue to use Apple Pay.

(“according to Ros Yusoff, the Group Chief Technology & Data Officer for CIMB Malaysia.”)

But yeah not surprised honestly, I remember TNG also missed releasing their product (either the NFC TNG card or the Visa Card). Since CIMB owns TNG, probably have similar behaviour.

I guess people are too lazy or too comfortable with their current bank to switch; some more have to maintain another account, which some people find tedious to do.

I quote from the website
"CIMB confirmed that they are working on supporting Apple Pay but you’ll have to wait until next year."
"According to CIMB, they are looking at enabling its cards for Apple Pay towards the second half of 2023."

and also
